This is the real sword used in the Adventure Time series and wielded by Finn, who was a real guy portrayed by another real guy named Finn.

The above is a poorly thought-out series of bold-faced lies…let’s try again.

This Adventure Time Sword from ThinkGeek is the one dubbed “Scarlet” in the video game.

Please note that this two-foot long weapon is very dull and will not serve you well in your crime-fighting endeavors, but it’s perfect for putting on display or using in a mock sword fight. Or a real sword fight if you’re looking forward to getting your arms cut off.

Remember that popular saying in times like this – “don’t bring a gun to a sword fight, bring a plastic sword so that you can more easily be maimed.” Huh?!

Notice the realistic battle scars that come for FREE with the sword. Where else can you get battle scars for FREE? “Go outside and hit a fire hydrant with it a few times.”

Below you can see a picture of what I looked like just before I got beat up. (Or, what I would look like if this were really me.)

This is going on my wishlist right behind that Assassin’s Creed Jacket, which is way more expensive than this $20 Adventure Time Sword.

Silly putty is awesome, and most of the people who are familiar with geekdom and the random science that makes us happy have heard of or played with metallic silly putty. When you put magnets in metallic silly putty, the pull of the magnets makes it seem like there is a gigantic putty monster that likes to feed on magnets, when in actuality its the magnet suffocating itself in putty monster. Perspective is key.

Anyway, some guy named Joey Shanks rightfully decided that it would be great if he put together a compilation of shots in which putty monsters devour magnets.

Push Pops are delicious, but they aren’t exactly meals. When you’re on the go and needing something sustaining, why not eat it out of a tube?

Scientists Discover First Carnivorous Tree In Guyana, South America

While walking around in the Amazon Rainforest, trees aren’t usually something that you need to worry about. Sure, there are spiders, beetles, beasts, and creepy crawlies, but never before has there been a carnivorous tree on the mind of tourists!

But, don’t start worrying yet – Jeff Oakbren, the head of a group of dendrologists, has said that only slow, sessile, and small animals can become a victim to this carnivorous tree, which has been named salix babilonicarum.

Several trees of similar qualities have been found in the area, and it does not seem to be an isolated species.

The salix babilonicarum has hollow, moss-like extensions (which give it that warm and fuzzy appearance) through which it leaks very strong acidic fluids. So, if you bump into this tree, you’ll get a serious burning sensation, but there won’t be any serious harm done unless you decide to take a nap on it!

Prior to this discovery, the largest carnivorous plant was a fifteen-inch-tall pitcher plant that could eat small animals – now, however, it is thought that the salix babilonicarum has succeeded in digesting a sloth, since the poor thing moves so slowly. (Bones were found and examined beneath one of the discovered trees.)

Like many other carnivorous plants, this tree is thought to be able to survive on photosynthesis alone – eating slow-moving animals just happens to be an extra bonus for the salix babilonicarum!

3D printers are a cool concept, but who really knows how to use those things? If your income is as low as mine, they’re really expensive, and you have to use engineering software, in most cases, in order to design the 3D object that you’re going to print out.

The bottom line for 3D printers? Sounds like a lot of HOOPLAH! Sounds like a lot of HOOPLAH! I SAID, IT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT OF – HOOPLAH! *Hit with a flying brick*

The 3Doodler is for those of us who enjoy the simpler things in life: basically, this 3D printing pen lets you make 3D drawings just as easily as you make 2D drawings. Want to have some plastic stick figures to play with? Just draw them on a piece of paper, pull off the dried plastic, and voila! The 3Doodler dries plastic so quickly that you can just move your pen vertically in order to create lines that jump into the super trippy zone of being three dimensional.

Recommendation: watch the video, because it’s awesome, and because my explanation skills are, on a scale of one to ten, terrible.

Awesome, right?

The good news is that the 3Doodler is already almost 8,000% funded, so this thing is going into the markets whether or not you support it, which is great, because I have no faith in you.

The bad news is that you probably aren’t one of the 25,000 backers that the 3Doodler pen has, which means you won’t be getting one anytime soon. Pledging $50 would have gotten you one of these 3D printing pens, but now you will have to pay at least $75 because people already snatched up those deals like some delicious texas hotcakes.

The 3Doodler is awesome, and there’s no way that I’m not going to support these guys in their efforts to be amazing – I suppose I can just write some more checks and watch them bounce like basketballs…

RIOT is a game that was created for Android and iOS devices as well as PC and Mac. This game is meant to draw attention to all of the unrest that is present in today’s world, especially in developing countries where freedoms aren’t a given, as they are in many of the places that we are used to.

On another note, RIOT is fun. Want to set things on fire, take down violent protestors, and just randomly smash windows? This is for you. Do keep in mind that it has a political undertone. However, the game does let you play from both perspectives, and you will see how and why violent riots never have a winning side.

These are some screenshots from the game, and you can get the full experience on your iOS or Android device for just $5 if you support the project on it’s Indiegogo page.

RIOT is also meant to be a simulator in addition to a game, so keep that in mind. It’s not meant for you to be able to go Rambo and take down all of the cops by yourself. The format is hotseat multiplayer, although there are some single player campaigns included.

I was recently sent a SoundWave SW50 bluetooth speaker by GearZap for testing, and I love it.

I needed a new speaker to blast my music, since my other one runs on archaic batteries and would cut out whenever the lower frequencies became too powerful. (And, as I am an EDM fan, this really was a problem).

The SoundWave SW50 bluetooth speaker is one-fourth of the size of my other speaker, looks awesome, uses bluetooth connectivity, and sounds incredible!

If you ever need to play your music louder than the SW50 can play it, you need some real speakers and/or a new set of ears.

(The speaker is available in both black and white.)

What really impressed me about the SW50 is the capabilities it has in terms of the bass: this little guy doesn’t slink away whenever lower frequencies need to be played. In fact, the company includes a mat with the product to prevent the speaker from vibrating so much that it falls off of the table!

Some of my music, if played at full volume, will have the speaker moving all over the table if the mat isn’t used. The good news? The sound quality is excellent, and even the lowest frequencies can be heard. (It probably cuts out somewhere around 30 Hz, but laptop speakers usually can’t go below 75 Hz, unless you have good ones.)

You can also take, answer, and ignore calls by using the small green phone button under the built-in microphone on the SW50, which is compatible as an iPhone accessory, Galaxy accessory, laptop accessory, and as an accessory to other bluetooth-enabled devices.

You can pick one of these guys up for $40, a great price for a solid, portable bluetooth speaker.

I really think that the SW50 is great, and I have no complaints! Excellent speaker!

We’ve seen some cool concepts when it comes to touchscreen watches, but we’ve never seen something that is practical and is being put into action.

Sure, you can get one of those “watch phones” for $400 +, but nobody wants to talk to their wrist, because everyone already owns a regular phone.

That’s where the VEA Buddy Bluetooth Touchscreen Watch comes in. It’s approach is unique in that, instead of trying to replace your phone, as many of these projects do, it works in tandem with it.

Think of it as… well… your buddy.

The VEA Buddy looks great, and it has a ton of features that help you keep in touch with your technology. Not only can you check your email on the watch, since it pulls that data from your smartphone via bluetooth, but you can also do things like browse Facebook and Twitter as well!

Of course, a musical function has been added, which is shown above: change all of that good stuff while looking snazzy and without having to pull out your phone or use the buttons on your headphone cord. (Assuming your headphones have said buttons.) This can also be helpful when you’re playing music live and need to change the song without having to go touch your phone.

The makers of Buddy are looking to raise $320,000 to make this a reality, but you can get one of them A.S.A.P. if you grant them $150 of your hard-earned cash.

Note that these watches were being given out for $99, but those packages (200 of them) have been sold out already!

Inside3 Marble Labyrinth: Face The Darkness [Ulule]

If you’re someone who enjoys puzzles and innovative ideas, you’ve come to the right webpage.

The Inside3 team has created a box that holds all of your fears and puts your mind to the test – can you successfully navigate through total darkness and use the provided labyrinth layouts to make your way through the cube?

The above picture gives a quick glimpse at the different types of layouts that will be available once the project is funded on Ulule. Not only does the labyrinth itself become more difficult, but the cube mutates in order to make this incredible challenge even more difficult.

Unless you order a “Vicious” or “Mortal” Inside3 cube, you will be able to take apart the labyrinth in order to retrieve your lost ball. There are two openings through which you can see the marble – one on the top of the puzzle cube and one on the bottom – if the ball is stuck somewhere in the middle, you are hopeless unless you take apart the Inside3.

Conclusion?

You’re hopeless if you are trying to solve the level 5 and 6 puzzles.

This is a prototype Inside3 labyrinth, and as you can see, a map is provided on the outside of the cube. Each section represents a different layer, and the goal of the puzzle is to make it all the way through the box to the other side.

Of course, you can understand why it would be extremely difficult to solve the “Mortal” labyrinth, in which no maps are provided. Impossible, even.

The developers are hoping to raise $54,000 by early April, and they just recently hit $22,000. If you want one of these awesome puzzles and want to help an innovative crowdfunding project hit the markets, jump on over to Ulule and get this thing funded.

You’re excellent when it comes to video games, so why does it seem like real life is beating you down?

All of your Minecraft creations are exquisitely complex, and everyone admires your LoL account, but it just doesn’t seem like life does what you tell it to. (My dog doesn’t even do what I tell it to, though, so don’t feel bad.)

The description says it all – succeed in life using the abilities that you’ve garnered through endless hours of gaming. Finally, gamers are going to succeed!

The HabitRPG website is already up and running – the Kickstarter is adding new features to this already awesome service – and it lets you input your Habits, Daily tasks, and To Do’s.

Each of these can be assigned a positive value, a negative value, or both. If you do what you’re supposed to, your experience will increase and you’ll be able to level up! Eat a ton of junk food and forget to clean your cat’s litterbox only if you want your character to lose health. Once you lose all of your health, you die.

IN REAL LIFE.

Not really, but that’d be cool, right? Talk about motivation.

Use coins that you earn in order to buy armor and weapons and to customize your avatar – this is really a dream come true for any gamer!

Here’s a screenshot that was provided on the Kickstarter page – this guy is already succeeding at life in incredible strides, as you can see by his decked out avatar.

If this is already super awesome, what’s the Kickstarter for?

First of all, the team wants to fix some bugs on the website, add new features, and more.

Additionally, they want to finish creating an Android and iPhone app for HabitRPG. This would make the program easier to access and would make more sense for those of us geeks who really want to take this thing (life) seriously and start getting things done.
