To activate your product of office suite follow these steps:

This article is being written for Microsoft office Professional Plus 2010 but activation process is same for all editions.

Step 1: Download Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 ISO from Microsoft Website.

It is true for all Microsoft products. You can find your product key in your mail box or if you purchase it for retail shop then it is on your back cover; something like below picture.

If you are having trouble activating Windows 8 it may be because you were never presented with an option to enter the key however these commands will help you change the Windows 8 Key. After installing Windows 8 Enterprise on my Dell 6500 I had an issue activating it which I found out happened to a few other people as well. What happens is I was never prompted to enter my key and the option to change the key was missing. After following this procedure Windows 8 Enterprise was successfully activated.

Right click the left hand corner of your Windows 8 screen and Click Command Prompt (Admin)

At the command prompt, type: slmgr.vbs -ipk <then type your product key>

Hit Enter on your keyboard, then type: slmgr.vbs -ato

That’s it and note that this should work on any edition of Windows 8 that you use.

Updated Option

The SLUI 3 Command is another option
If you bring up the run command or a command prompt you can type in “SLUI 3″ and hit enter.

You should see the Windows Activation box come up and ask you for a key. Put your Key in and Press Activate

122. Use Autoruns to Manually Clean an Infected PC

There are many anti-malware programs out there that will clean your system of nasties, but what happens if you’re not able to use such a program? Autoruns, from SysInternals (recently acquired by Microsoft), is indispensable when removing malware manually.

There are a few reasons why you may need to remove viruses and spyware manually:

Perhaps you can’t abide running resource-hungry and invasive anti-malware programs on your PC
You might need to clean your mom’s computer (or someone else who doesn’t understand that a big flashing sign on a website that says “Your computer is infected with a virus – click HERE to remove it” is not a message that can necessarily be trusted)
The malware is so aggressive that it resists all attempts to automatically remove it, or won’t even allow you to install anti-malware software
Part of your geek credo is the belief that anti-spyware utilities are for wimps

Autoruns is an invaluable addition to any geek’s software toolkit. It allows you to track and control all programs (and program components) that start automatically with Windows (or with Internet Explorer). Virtually all malware is designed to start automatically, so there’s a very strong chance that it can be detected and removed with the help of Autoruns.

Autoruns is a standalone utility that does not need to be installed on your computer. It can be simply downloaded, unzipped and run (link below). This makes is ideally suited for adding to your portable utility collection on your flash drive.

When you start Autoruns for the first time on a computer, you are presented with the license agreement:

After agreeing to the terms, the main Autoruns window opens, showing you the complete list of all software that will run when your computer starts, when you log in, or when you open Internet Explorer:

To temporarily disable a program from launching, uncheck the box next to it’s entry. Note: This does not terminate the program if it is running at the time – it merely prevents it from starting next time. To permanently prevent a program from launching, delete the entry altogether (use the Delete key, or right-click and choose Delete from the context-menu)). Note: This does not remove the program from your computer – to remove it completely you need to uninstall the program (or otherwise delete it from your hard disk).

Suspicious Software

It can take a fair bit of experience (read “trial and error”) to become adept at identifying what is malware and what is not. Most of the entries presented in Autoruns are legitimate programs, even if their names are unfamiliar to you. Here are some tips to help you differentiate the malware from the legitimate software:

If an entry is digitally signed by a software publisher (i.e. there’s an entry in thePublisher column) or has a “Description”, then there’s a good chance that it’s legitimate
If you recognize the software’s name, then it’s usually okay. Note that occasionally malware will “impersonate” legitimate software, but adopting a name that’s identical or similar to software you’re familiar with (e.g. “AcrobatLauncher” or “PhotoshopBrowser”). Also, be aware that many malware programs adopt generic or innocuous-sounding names, such as “Diskfix” or “SearchHelper” (both mentioned below).
Malware entries usually appear on the Logon tab of Autoruns (but not always!)
If you open up the folder that contains the EXE or DLL file (more on this below), an examine the “last modified” date, the dates are often from the last few days (assuming that your infection is fairly recent)
Malware is often located in the C:\Windows folder or the C:\Windows\System32 folder
Malware often only has a generic icon (to the left of the name of the entry)

If in doubt, right-click the entry and select Search Online…

The list below shows two suspicious looking entries: Diskfix and SearchHelper

These entries, highlighted above, are fairly typical of malware infections:

They have neither descriptions nor publishers
They have generic names
The files are located in C:\Windows\System32
They have generic icons
The filenames are random strings of characters
If you look in the C:\Windows\System32 folder and locate the files, you’ll see that they are some of the most recently modified files in the folder (see below)

Double-clicking on the items will take you to their corresponding registry keys:

Removing the Malware

Once you’ve identified the entries you believe to be suspicious, you now need to decide what you want to do with them. Your choices include:

Temporarily disable the Autorun entry
Permanently delete the Autorun entry
Locate the running process (using Task Manager or similar) and terminating it
Delete the EXE or DLL file from your disk (or at least move it to a folder where it won’t be automatically started)

or all of the above, depending upon how certain you are that the program is malware.

To see if your changes succeeded, you will need to reboot your machine, and check any or all of the following:

Autoruns – to see if the entry has returned
Task Manager (or similar) – to see if the program was started again after the reboot
Check the behavior that led you to believe that your PC was infected in the first place. If it’s no longer happening, chances are that your PC is now clean

Conclusion

This solution isn’t for everyone and is most likely geared to advanced users. Usually using a quality Antivirus application does the trick, but if not Autoruns is a valuable tool in your Anti-Malware kit.

Keep in mind that some malware is harder to remove than others. Sometimes you need several iterations of the steps above, with each iteration requiring you to look more carefully at each Autorun entry. Sometimes the instant that you remove the Autorun entry, the malware that is running replaces the entry. When this happens, we need to become more aggressive in our assassination of the malware, including terminating programs (even legitimate programs like Explorer.exe) that are infected with malware DLLs.

Shortly we will be publishing an article on how to identify, locate and terminate processes that represent legitimate programs but are running infected DLLs, in order that those DLLs can be deleted from the system.

121. Create a Virtual Hard Drive in Windows 7

Have you ever wished you had an extra Hard Disk to store files, share, or set aside as an encrypted vault? One of the new features in Windows 7 is the ability to create Virtual Hard Disks and we’ll show you how.

Create a Virtual Drive

This process creates virtual disks in the .VHD format where the minimum size is 3MB. To begin, Right-click on My Computer and select to Manage. Alternately you can typediskmgmt.msc into the Start search box and enter.

The Computer Management screen opens click on Disk Management then Action and Create VHD.

Browse to the directory you want the disk to reside, choose the size you want it to be, and select dynamic or a fixed. If you want the disk to expand in size as you add files to it, then pick Dynamically expanding. Check Fixed size if you want a specific size and for it to stay that way.

In Disk Management you will see the virtual drive listed as unallocated space.

To begin using it you’ll need to Right-click and select Initialize Disk.

In the initialize disk box just keep MBR selected and hit OK.

Create a Volume

Now it is time to create a volume by Right-clicking the unallocated space and select New Simple Volume.

The New Simple Volume Wizard starts up and it’s just a matter of completing it.

Choose the amount of space you want to use for the volume.

Assign it a dive letter that is not currently being used.

Format the new volume as NTFS, FAT32, or FAT. Check if you want a quick format and file compression.

The wizard is complete, click on Finish.

If you have AutoPlay enabled it should pop up for you to open up your new virtual hard disk.

It will be listed with the other disks in Disk Management.

Of course you will also see it listen under My Computer.

This is a cool new feature that will let you use the disk as you would any type of real disk. You can encrypt it, share it out to other systems, store files to it…however you would use an extra disk connected to your system.

This is a cool new feature in Windows 7 that will add extra functionality and options to your current system. There are several ways you can use your VHD including making it bootable. 120. Create a Software RAID Array in Windows 7

Instead of having a bunch of separate drives to deal with, why not put them together into one big drive? You can use software RAID to accomplish this, and here’s how to do it.

Windows has built in functionality to set up a software RAID (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks) without any additional tools. This makes it easy to turn your existing spare hard drives into massive storage or even redundant backups. In this example we are going to set up a spanned disk that takes three 2 GB disks and creates one 6 GB disk using Windows 7 Professional.

Editor’s Note: For the example in the article, we’re showing how to create a spanned drive, which isn’t technically RAID, but it works similarly and creating a RAID array is exactly the same—you can choose your preferred RAID option from the context menu.

Set Up Your Disks

The first step you need to do is backup your information on the disks you want to use in the RAID. While it is not required that you format your disks for some of the RAID options, don’t take the chance and make a backup.

Once all of your information is backed up, open your start menu, right click on computer and open manage.

When computer management opens click on disk management on the left side. Any disk you want included in your RAID you need to delete them from the top area of disk management.

Once they are deleted you should only be left with disks you do not want included in the RAID. The other disks will still be there but they will show up in the lower pane and show their spaces as unallocated.

Create Your RAID

In Windows they don’t call their RAID options by the traditional 0, 1, 5, 10 etc. Instead they use spanned, striped, and mirrored as the options for creating software RAIDs.

Note: RAID-5, although one of the options, isn’t actually available in Windows 7 due to licensing issues. Thanks to the commenters for pointing that out.

A spanned volume will create a single partition that will literally span all of the included disks whereas a striped volume will deliberately break up files across multiple disks in an attempt to improve read and write performance. In both cases there is no redundancy so you need to create your own backups.

A mirrored volume and RAID 5 both have some redundancy but you lose storage space to create the parity files needed for recovery. For this example we are going to go with the simplest volume type and create a spanned volume even though it isn’t technically RAID.

Right click on the first disk you want included in your RAID and select new spanned volume.

This will open up the New Spanned Volume Wizard in Windows. Click next and then select which disks you want included in your new volume (a.k.a. software RAID).

Assign the new volume a mount letter or mount point.

Name and format the volume and click next.

The final step just reviews all of your settings before the disks are formatted and the new volume is mounted.

You should also receive a warning letting you know that if your operating system is on one of these volumes you won’t be able to use it because the volume is now a dynamic volume instead of a logical volume.

Finally the disks will be formatted and once the drive is mounted you should be welcomed with the familiar AutoPlay prompt.

If you browse to Windows explorer you should also see that the new volume has the combined storage space of the three individual disks used to create it.

119. 3 Ways to Access Your Linux Partitions From Windows

If you’re dual-booting Windows and Linux, you’ll probably want to access files on your Linux system from Windows at some point. Linux has built-in support for Windows NTFS partitions, but Windows can’t read Linux partitions without third-party software.

This list is focused on applications that support the Ext4 file system, which most new Linux distributions use by default. These applications all support Ext2 and Ext3, too – and one of them even supports ReiserFS.

Ext2Fsd

Ext2Fsd is a Windows file system driver for the Ext2, Ext3, and Ext4 file systems. It allows Windows to read Linux file systems natively, providing access to the file system via a drive letter that any program can access.

You can have Ext2Fsd launch at every boot or only open it when you need it. While you can theoretically enable support for writing to Linux partitions, I haven’t tested this. I’d be worried about this option, myself – a lot can go wrong. Read-only support is fine, though, and doesn’t have a risk of messing anything up.

The Ext2 Volume Manager application allows you to define mount points for your Linux partitions and change Ext2Fsd’s settings.

If you didn’t set Ext2Fsd to autostart at boot, you’ll have to go into Tools –> Service Management and start the Ext2Fsd service before you can access your Linux files. By default, the driver automatically mounts and assigns drive letters to your Linux partitions, so you don’t have to do anything extra.

You’ll find your Linux partitions mounted at their own drive letters in Windows Explorer. You can access the files on them from any application, without the hassle of copying files to your Windows partition before accessing them.

This partition’s file system as actually EXT4, but Ext2Fsd can read it fine, anyway. If you’re looking for your personal files, you’ll find them in your /home/NAME directory.

DiskInternals Linux Reader

Linux Reader is a freeware application from DiskInternals, developers of data recovery software. In addition to the Ext file systems, Linux Reader also supports ReiserFS and Apple’s HFS and HFS+ file systems. It’s read-only, so it can’t damage your Linux file system.

Linux Reader doesn’t provide access via a drive letter – it’s a separate application you launch to browse your Linux partitions.

Linux Reader shows previews of your files, making it easy to find the right one.

If you want to work with a file in Windows, you’ll have to save the file from your Linux partition to your Windows file system with the Save option. You can also save entire directories of files.

Ext2explore

We’ve covered Ext2explore in the past. It’s an open-source application that works similarly to DiskInternals Linux Reader — but only for Ext4, Ext3, and Ext2 partitions. It also lacks file previews, but it has one advantage: it doesn’t have to be installed; you can just download the .exe and run it.

The Ext2explore.exe program must be run as administrator or you’ll get an error – you can do this from the right-click menu.

To save some time in the future, go into the file’s properties window and enable the “Run this program as an administrator” option on the Compatibility tab.

As with Linux Reader, you’ll have to save a file or directory to your Windows system before you can open it in other programs.

Here are some of the tricks which can be used on youtube videos of that particular video url for the desired kind of the result as mentioned with the trick.

1) View high quality videos : Youtube gives you the option to switch to high quality videos for some of the videos, however you can check if a video is available in high quality format by appending ‘&fmt=18′(stereo, 480 x 270 resolution) or ‘&fmt=22′(stereo, 1280 x 720 resolution) for even higher quality.

2) Embed Higher Quality Videos : While the above trick works for playback, if however you want to embed hig quality videos you need to append “&ap=%2526fmt%3D18″ and “&ap=%2526fmt%3D22″ to the embed url.

3) Cut the chase and link to the interesting part : Linking to a video where the real action starts at 3 minutes 22 seconds, wondered if you could make it start at 03:22? You are in luck. All you have to do is add #t=03m22s (#t=XXmYYs for XX mins and YY seconds) to the end of the URL.

4) Hide the search box : The search box appears when you hover over an embedded video. To hide the search box add ‘&showsearch=0′ to the embed url.

5) Embed only a part of Video : Just append ‘&start=30′ to skip first 30s of the video. In general you can modify the value after start= to the number of seconds you want to skip the video for.

6) Bypass Youtube Regional Filtering : Some videos are only available in certain parts of the world. Your IP Address is used to determine your location and then allow or deny access to the video. Change the url from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=<somecode> to http://www.youtube.com/v/<somecode>

7) Download Video : Although not inherently a youtube trick but useful all the same for downloading videos. Just change youtube to kickyoutube in the url of the video and it will take you to kickyoutube.com with all the options for downloading the video you were watching. Firefox Addons like downloadvideohelper, grabitall, youtubevideodownloader etc.. also can be used to download the video from the youtube.

8) Autoplay a Video : If you want your embedded video to start playing automatically, once again you can do so by simply modifying the url. In this case you need to append the string “&autoplay=1” to the url and remove everything before and after the embed tag.

9) Loop a Video : If you wish to loop a video add the string “ &loop=1” to the end of the url.

10) Disable related videos in YouTube’s embedded Player : Many webmasters may want to disable related videos in YouTube’s embedded player since it encourages the reader to navigate away from the current website. Once again the solution is as simple as appending the string “rel=0” to the video URL.

Instead of manually modifying the embed code you can let a new service called VTubeTools do it. VTubeTools.com allows you to customize your YouTube player with a few clicks. You can resize the player, autostart the video, loop the video and enable high quality version. It also allows you to set custom background (you can just change the colours or even use your own background picture).

11) Embed a Part of a YouTube Video : Youtube supports a parameter called “start” that allows start playing an embedded video after a specified number of seconds. For example if the interesting part of the video begins only after 20 seconds you need to use the code &start=20.

Here is a short list for the most handy Windows XP and Firefox shortcuts. Some of these may also work in other applications.
Windows XP

1. [SHIFT] + [alt] + [PrntScrn] – high contrast
A window will open, click OK or simply hit [Enter]. This will enlarge the font on all open Windows and change colors to high contrast. For example the desktop will turn black, what was black text on white background will be reversed. Clicking the same key combination again reverts the changes.

2. [Ctrl] + [alt] + [up/down/left/right arrow] – rotate screen
This won’t work on every machine as it depends on your graphics card and video drivers. However, if it does work, it will rotate your desktop.

3. [Ctrl] + select items from taskbar, right-click selected – mass control open windows
You need to hold the [Ctrl] key while selecting open windows from the taskbar. To open the menu seen on the left, right-click any of the selected items.
This can save a ton of time wasted on rearranging windows.

4. [Alt] + [Tab] – switch between running programs
A little window will launch showing all open programs. Click the [Tab] key to jump to the next application, release keys to open the selected one.

5. [SHIFT] + [Del] – bypass Recycle Bin
Selecting a file and pressing the combination above will invoke a delete confirmation dialog. Clicking ‘Yes’ will delete the file without sending it to the Recycle Bin.

6. [Windows] + [D] – show desktop or restore open windows
This is the keyboard shortcut to the respective quick launch taskbar icon.

7. [Windows] + [L] – lock system

In this post we will see how to create an HTTP server. A web server is software installed on a computer that allows other computers to access specific files on that computer/server. There are many reasons to create your own home servers. For example: file sharing, so you can download files from your home computer from anywhere or you can create a web site on own server etc. Simply said It works like this; You choose a directory on your computer , in that directory add folders, files like music,video and etc. When you put the IP address of your computer the in web browser you can see all the files from that folder and you can download those files. Let’s now create a server(HTTP server!) using Apache(a server client):

1. You must have:
Broadband internet connection always on
Windows on your computer
2. Create a folder on your disc , in this example I created a folder on E:\my server
3. Download apache_2.2.10-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi and install it, set parameters( for localhost type something like a myserver.com(doesn’t really matter), also type your email address in field “Administrator@ Email Address” ) as shown below, choose where you want to install it.

4..When you install Apache , go to directory where you installed it (p.e. “C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\conf”) , here you will find a httpd file.
Open that file with notepad.

After this will appear notepad with long and complicated code, don´t worry, you must change just 3 things.
5. In notepad file find #DocumentRoot “C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/htdocs” and replace with #DocumentRoot “E:\my server”. 7. If you want access own server from other computers. You must forward a port in the router we’re using. The port we need to forward is port number 80. Why? Because by default it’s the port used for HTTP. Port forwarding actually means opening a tunnel through the router so that the router wouldn’t reject the connections that are trying to connect to it. How to port-forward? With every router it’s different. Here are the instructions for every one of them. You must also turn off you firewall.

Imagine the following scenario: your Windows XP system somehow becomes unbootable and after exhausting all possible fixes, you determine that you are going to have to wipe your hard drive and start over with a fresh install of Windows XP. You look and find your Windows XP CD in your..CD flip book case, and that is when you realize that you have lost the product key which was provided as a little yellow sticker when you bought Windows XP. Then you panic. Well, guess what? Hope is not all lost, it is possible to locate your Product Key using nothing more than your Windows XP Installation CD.

To start, you will need access to a working computer.
Stick in your Windows XP Installation CD, then, when the XP Install Splash Screen pops up, click Exit.

Then Click Start, then My Computer and find your CD Drive (mine is Drive I), right click on it and select Search

Then type unattend.txt then click Search

It will find the unattend.txt file and report that it is located in your main drive, don't be misled, this is the right file and it is on the CD.

Open the unattend.txt and in it you will find your Product Key

Write down the Product Key, now you have the key and can install XP.

109. Get a New IP Address Even If You Have a Static IP

2. In the command prompt, type “Ipconfig/all”. This will tell you your current IP Address. After, type “ipconfig/release”. Keep the command prompt open for easy access.

3. Go to “Network Connections” (accessible through the control panel). Right click “Local Area Connection” and click “Properties”
4. With “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) selected, click the “Properties” button.
5. A new window will open. Under the “General” tab, select “Use the Following IP address”. Under “Ip Address”, put “10.0.0.1″. Press the “Tab” key on your keyboard.

Let me explain you how to install backtrack linux(pentertation testing distribution) on Pendrive/Flash drive persistent Memory(to store changes). Without persistent memory, you can not install new software or copy files in your backtrack.

Requirements:

Step 2: Select the Backtrack ISO Image
Now click the browse button and select the Backtrack ISO image.

Step 3: Select USB Drive
Now select the USB Drive(Pen Drive) Letter. Becareful while selecting the Drive Letter.
Check whether it is correct letter for your pen drive. If you mistaken in selecting the drive, it will format other drive.

Step 4: Persistent Memory
check the We will format x:\ Drive as FAT 32 option.
Set a persistent memory based on your requirement. i set 2GB .

Step 5: Start Install
Click the Create button. It will prompt with “ready to perform following action….”.
Verify once again whether you choose correct drive. Then click the Yes button.

Step 6: What’s next?
After completion of installation , restart the windows.
Press F10 of F12(it may vary for you) to select Boot Drive.
Select your Pen Drive as boot drive.
Now backtrack start to boot.

104. How To Convert a SIM to a MicroSIM with a Meat Cleaver

Everything I describe below applies to the iPad, iPad 2 and iPhone.

This morning, my shiny new iPad 3G 64Gb arrived from the USA! The only problem was, it had an AT&T MicroSIM and as yet there is no such thing in the UK.

So what’s the solution? Get a chopping board, a meat cleaver and a pair of scissors – simples!

Apologies for the focus issues with my new Canon IXUS 210 – it is going back today!

Above is a picture of the SIM cards – as you can see, they vary a lot, but the only parts that matter to us are the contacts which are common to the MicroSIM and SIM. Electronically, the SIM and MicroSIM are the same so we can cut the rest away and not worry (so long as we are careful).

To begin with, line up the three contact on the MicroSIM with the same ones on the SIM card. You can just look for the 2 centre lines and make sure they are in line and that the top of the MicroSIM is straight. Then get your meat cleaver and press down gently to score a straight line.

Cut along the score line carefully. Once you have done this, line the top of the SIM with the MicroSIM and you should see that the contacts are aligned.

Turn the SIM & MicroSIM round 180 degrees, line up the bottom and repeat with the meat cleaver, then cut along the score line once again.

The SIM should now be the same height as the MicroSIM – we are halfway there!
Line up the centre of the MicroSIM with the SIM so that we can be sure it will be aligned within the iPad

Repeat the process with the meat cleaver and scissors, then you should have a SIM which is almost the right size, save for the top edge and corner.

Once again, repeat the process with the meat cleaver and scissors, then you should have a SIM which is the same size apart from the corner.

Cut off the corner of the SIM card – you can just use the meat cleaver for this if it is nice & sharp.

Your SIM card is almost ready to go in to your iPad. As you can see, the AT&T MicroSIM has slightly rounded corners.
Use your meat cleaver to take off the tiniest of amounts. Remember, you can take more off, but you can’t put it back on.

Your SIM should now fit in your iPad MicroSIM tray.

Gently insert it in to your iPad 3G.

You should see your network indicator change to the network of your SIM card – well done!

Go in to Settings, Cellular Data

Then go in to APN and enter the access point. If you are using Vodafone in the UK, the APN is internet

Press the Home button on your iPad, go in to Safari and browse away with your new UK 3G iPad!

Hi folks,its been a long time since I have posted some thing technical,so I will be writing about the challenge I got at NIT KU, where I reverse engineered WinRAR 3.80 using a disassembler and will tell you the same here.

Furthermore, major software are analysed using the same way,but just get a bit complex in the methodology. This tutorial is intended for those who are new to reverse engineering and disassembling.

How to Reverse Engineer?
You need to have a bit knowledge of assembly language,and in case you don't have it,just cram the steps and it will work anytime,every time. Download the latest version of WinRAR from their website and install it.
I will be cracking Winrar 3.80 here (cuz I already have it:P ). This is basically a 2 step process ( 4 step ,if you want to do things with a professional touch,period) .

Now copy the WinRAR.exe file to desktop. Make a copy of it there.

Step 1 – Hunting for Memory Address
Now load Hackers Disasembler and load the copy in it.

If not having then download it here

The Disassembler will disassemble the executable in assembly code. Now you need to search for strings that are used in WinRAR program. Press Ctrl + F and type “evaluation” without quotes and search in the assembly code. Hit enter..

After you have reached this block of code by searching, just look at the block of code above it. There you will find that some assembly values are being compared and then code is jumped to some other function. Now see carefully, the “evaluation copy” function must be invoked after some specific condition is met. We need to look for it at the code and the make certain changes to the condition so that the program doesn't checks for the condition.

In the above code you can see this code -

This is the code responsible for validating you as a legal user :) . Just note down the memory address that leads to jump (JNE) at some memory location. In this case, note down 00444B71 .
Note : For any WinRAR version, this code and memory address might be different,but the JNE will be same. Just note down the respective memory address that checks.
Now you need to search for the code that brings that ugly nag screen “Please purchase WinRAR license” after your trial period of 40 days is over. For this,look over your toolbar and click on “D” which stands for looking for Dialog references.

Now in the dialog box that opens,search for “please” and you will get the reference as -

ID-REMINDER, “Please purchase WinRAR license”

Double click on it and you will reach the subsequent code.

The code will be something like

* String: “REMINDER”
0048731A: 68EB5E4B00 push 004B5EEB

Just note the memory address that invokes the REMINDER dialog. In this case its0048731A. Note it down.
Note : For any WinRAR version, this code and memory address might be different.But the Reminder Memory address code will always PUSH something. Just note down the respective memory address that PUSH ‘s.

Step 2 – Fixing and Patching
Now in this step we will be patching up values of memory addresses we noted earlier. I will be doing this using HVIEW.Now load the copy you disassembled in Hacker’s Disassembler in Hview.

After you have loaded it, you will see the code is unreadable. Its just like opening an EXE file in notepad. You need to decode it. To do that, just press F4 and yoiu will get an option to decode it. Hit DECODE and you will be able to see code in the form of assembly code and memory addresses.

After you have done that, you need to search for memory addresses you noted down earlier. Just hit F5 and a search box will be there. Now you need to enter the memory address. To do that, enter a “.” and the type memory address neglecting the earlier “00” . The “.” will suffice for “00”. ie -

Type .444B71 in place of 00444B71

and search in the code.

After you have reached the respective code, you need to make changes to it. Press F3 and you will be able to edit the code.Now make the following changes -

After you have done it, save it by pressing F9.
Now search for next memory location by pressing F5 and entering it. Reach there and make the following changes by pressing F3 -

Save the changes by pressing F9 and exit HVIEW by pressing F10.
Congrats..You have cracked WinRAR :) Replace the original WinRAR.exe with this copyofwinrar.exe by renaming it. It will work 100% fine :P

Step 3 – Spicing up the EXENow U have a 100% working version of EXE, you might want to change your registration information in WinRAR. TO do this, you can use Resource hacker.

Launch Resource Hacker, load the copyofwinrar.exe in it

or download Resource Hacker form here

Now go to DIALOG –> Expand tree –> ABOUTRARDLG and click it. Now Find Trial copy line and replace it with your favorite one :P

and click on Compile Script button.

Now save the file with any name on your desktop or any location what so ever.

Now you have a fully patched WinRAR.exe file :)) . If you want to learn that, move on to next step.

Step 4 – Creating a working Patch (or giving Professional touch :P )
I will be using diablo2oo2's Universal Patcher (UPE) for creating the patch. The patch will work like any authentic one for that WinRAR version. Just like the one U downloaded at anytime of your life from any Crack and Keygen website.
Launch Patch Creator and click on add new project. Enter project Information and click on save.

Click on Add – ; Offset patch

After you have done that, double click on offset patch and then

Give path of original winrar.exe
Give path of unmodified Winrar.exe (again)
Give path for fully patched Winrar.exe (ie Cracked Winrar.exe in this case)
Click on compare and it will show difference between both files
Click on save.

Now in the next window, click on Create Patch and save it. The Patch will be created. Now copy it in WinRAR installation directory and hit on patch, it WILL work.

Congrats you have created a patch of your own and have learned to reverse engineer WinRAR :)

You can crack other software in the same way…just practice,debug and disassemble and you will get the way :)
