This girl is 15 months old!

She is 19 lbs (4%)...still too small to face forward in her car seat! Agh!

She is 29 1/4" tall (17%)

And well, her head is an average size. I don't really ever care about that stat, I think it's more for the doctor to know her head isn't growing too fast or too slowly.

Anywho, I'm pretty sure the day I took her in for her appointment she woke up as a 2 year old. Within an hour of waking up she had 2 fits and needed a shirt change! However, after getting two shots she calmed down. That'll show you! Then she took an almost 3 hour nap but I had to wake her up to go somewhere.

Adri is our "big" little girl. She thinks she needs to do everything Chloe does and then thinks of more to do! She will be a leader, that I can tell. Hopefully it's for the good!

Nonetheless, we love having her in our family!

Chloe's new fascination with pink and princesses included cupcakes...so a cupcake cake it was! I dyed the funfetti batter pink and made my own frosting, mmm.

Valentine's

We had an adventurous V-day with food this year. First I made pink heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast.

Then Chloe got a marshmallow rose from dad...

Adri got sweetheart candies from mom...

And then we made heart-shaped pizzas for dinner. Minus the one that is simply a circle :)

Take note Chloe's pizza is a PINK heart shape. She has decided she wants everything to be pink, for pink is her favorite color. See the hot pink cookies next to the pizzas? I rest my case.

Basketball

At this particular game Adri decided to take a pen and my check register out to color on.

Brandi (Sam's assistant coach & the math teacher across the hall from him) had a pretty updo the same day I did Chloe's! I thought Adri's hair was cute too, so this is our "pretty hair" picture.

I let Chloe go dance on the court at the JV game during halftime. She loved it as much as she loved following this girl around. I'm going to miss going to these high school games! (Sam is most likely teaching at the new Junior High in Eagle Mountain next year)

Twenty-Nine

That's right. Sam turned 29 on Feb. 2nd! His birthday involved sleeping in, opening presents as soon as he woke up, finding out the groundhog predicted an early Spring, Tucano's lunch, and a brownie cake with caramel ice cream.

Chloe got Sam those multi-colored stylus' for his ipod touch, Adri got him starburst & Butterfinger cookies, and I got him the cycling thing.

Chloe was excited for Sam to open presents, so we gave them to him as soon as he woke up!

Of course he had some help opening them.

Outside of Tucano's we found this awesome ride...but alas it didn't really work. Chloe was happy about that, she was freaking out that it was going to move without her consent!

Sam's brownie cake. If you look closely you'll notice I put powdered sugar on top and then when Sam blew out the candles I ended up with it all over me!! Oops, blonde moment I guess.

We were thankful to be able to spend Sam's birthday with my cousin Phil and his wife Jenny.

Christmas 2012

Christmas started with lots of eating out of course. We arrived in Boise the 19th, had Mongolian BBQ the 21st, went to lunch at Sizzler the 22nd, and dinner at Johnny Carino's that same night. Mmm! But ooohh!

Thanks to my mom and sister, these shirts for my girls were made before Christmas. Not the best pictures but we couldn't get them to behave. Adri was "naughty" & Chloe was "nice" :)

Chloe & cousin Riley put together a graham cracker train...and then ate most the candy off of it by Christmas :)

It's true, Adri does smile once in a blue moon! Ok she smiles a lot but most the time she is throwing a fit or simply making whining noises.

Sam got me this great sapphire ring! (It's my birthstone) and then has white sapphires all around it. I've only been bugging him about a right-hand ring since we got married, or maybe engaged :)

My mom made Christmas Tree Quilts for all of the girls!

Chloe & Adri enjoyed a second Christmas at Grandma & Papa Water's house.

Chloe got a flashlight so she had to inspect every present before pulling it out! Her and Adri love the dolls they got! Chloe got a Baby Alive doll and when it said to her, "I'm hungry, mom" Chloe looked at her and said, "I'm not your mommy! I'm Chloe!" She didn't like that too much haha.

We were invited to Billy & Megan's house for New Year's Eve. Adri got some good cousin time in with Penny, although she didn't know about sitting on Tess' lap for this picture! And I'm pretty sure she's giving Jamie "the look" for holding her there.

Adri enjoyed new toys to play with (along with Jackson).

Sam and I enjoyed all the goodies and probably ate way too much. Here's our last picture taken in 2012!

Sisters are fun. Adri followed Chloe around and they were laying together on the rug. Not really Christmas, but still cute :)

Oh, and before we left for Boise, Sam received Bubbles, our new Betta fish, for a gift exchange with the student council he advises. Lucky us huh? :) We found a babysitter while we were gone, don't worry. Chloe enjoys watching him.

Adri Had A Birthday!

Adri turned 1 Dec. 20th! I can't believe she's grown so much. Time flies! She is a bundle of crazy curious energy but she also gives me the best cuddles so I think it evens out, right? Yesterday by 9:30am she had unrolled toilet paper, played in the toilet, learned how to open the trash can lid, and reached the shelf in my bathroom to grab a bag of mini-shampoos! And when she's tired, watch out! She's a grump.

Adri is miss independent and is starting to walk around so fast it might just turn in to a run. She has tons of hair which is fun for me. It reaches down just past her shoulders right now. We're working on transitioning to a sippy cup but she really likes her bottles. She also never gave up those newborn binkies so this year we'll be saying goodbye to all binkies...after most of her teeth come in. She has 7 teeth and at least one that is coming in.

Adri does have a favorite show; Little Einsteins. She can pat her legs and throw her hands up in the air to say, "Blast Off!" Her favorite food might be ice cream, she knows somehow when I am eating it even if she hasn't seen it yet.

Adri is a very good sister - she likes to play with Chloe, rock in the rocking chair like Chloe, and of course take anything Chloe was playing with because it must be cool if Chloe was playing with it! She is good at sharing unless you rip something away from her, then you get the fit throwing!

At her doctor's appointment we found she is average height, very little (so little I had to turn her car seat rear facing until she can gain more weight), and her head grew a lot since 9 months!

We were lucky enough to drive to Boise the day before Adri's birthday. It's so nice to be around family for birthdays! As you can see Adri had a lot of help with her presents at Grandma & Grandpa Smith's house.

I made fudge-marble cake with chocolate frosting. The whole cake was gone by the end of the night so I think it was a success.

Adri was super lucky and had TWO birthday parties! She shared the special party with her cousin Emma. Sam must be in the picture for moral support :)

You might think having a birthday around the holidays is no fun...but really everyone is around so there's more celebrating! We sure do enjoy our Adri and know that she was meant to be in our family.

Getting Ready For Christmas

Honestly, we put our tree up before we left for Thanksgiving in Boise, but that way the house would all be decorated when we got home!

Chloe really enjoyed putting up ornaments. She still tries to rearrange them every so often. Now, if you're observant you realize there's only three stockings...I couldn't find the one I made Adri last year until a couple weeks in to December! No worries though, it's there now :)

Here's how life goes in the Waters' house: Adri does something she's not supposed to, Chloe notices, and joins in! This time Adri took all the shoes out of the shoe basket. They have fun playing together and it keeps me entertained!

Boo

October has brought on more "boo's" than expected (what with me being sick the whole month and all...) but we made it through. I refused to let my sickness get in the way of trunk or treat at our church and trick or treating with our neighbors.

Chloe was Minnie Mouse (this is the pre-Halloween costume try-on)

I noticed Chloe had a black eye shortly after Adri's. I think she hit her head on our bed frame while sleeping next to it!

Adri has repented and started wearing bibs for me again. She dawned this cute pumpkin bib all month long, if it was clean! (Thanks Grammie!)

Sam took Chloe around for Trunk Or Treat and it seems as though she did very well saying, "trunk or treat".

I wanted to be a good mom and decorate our trunk really well...so this was my idea: our van became a shark! I made bones (pretzels & marshmallows dipped in white chocolate) & eyeballs (we drew on eyes to taffy) to hand out from the belly of the shark. Sam and I wanted to be fishermen that caught the shark but alas we found no fishing gear. I made a fin for the top of the van and an anchor holding the shark down. I thought it could have worked out cooler but our ward liked it and gave us the Best Trunk Prize!

Chloe was very happy with her loot.

On Halloween day we gutted a pumpkin and cooked dinner in it. Always yummy.

Minnie Mouse & a spider. Somehow in my sickness I think I threw away Chloe's headband that came with her costume...so I had to make this one up! I was SO mad!

I got so many compliments on Adri's spider costume. She sat inside the shark's mouth sucking on a taffy in it's wrapper all night long. I was thankful she stayed in one spot!

Sam went to the doors with Chloe. Last year I was 7 months pregnant so I didn't do it and this year I was sick! So you know, one of these years I'll get around to it.

Adri even enjoyed a sucker...she thinks she is WAY older than she is!

Frightening

It's October! And we've already done some Fall/Halloween stuff so enjoy:

First, a bloody skeleton walked through our kitchen, ah! All of the blood spots are now gone due to Adri figuring out how to peel them off the ground. Whose child is she!?

We took Chloe to a local farm with activities for kids and best of all, pony rides! Here is a little petting farm area.

Haystack Maze

Sam & the girls enjoyed a trip around the farm in a tractor train.

We also got to ride in a wagon pulled by a tractor for picking pumpkins. Chloe found a really small one for Adri but took it around as her own. I still have to convince her her's is the medium-sized one!

We went into the corn maze as a family..but quickly split into teams. Adri & I probably went to every dead end. Sam & Chloe found the end and came back for us!

I May Not Look 27...But Alas I Am!

Sometimes I like telling people my age because then I can rub it in their face that I'm actually a lot older than I look. So getting older bodes well with me right now. The only thing I do have a problem with is not being around all of my family when it comes time to celebrate. And this birthday was particularly hard on me because of that. We had a babysitter for the girls so we could go to The Olive Garden but that fell through (she had to get an emergency root canal so we don't blame her) and couldn't find anyone else at the last minute. That was fine because I like to celebrate with my girls and hubby but knowing that if I were in Boise I'd have at least 15 people to call really bugged me!

So with that and not being able to celebrate with extended family I had a crying spell the night before my birthday. Thanks though for the calls and presents...that made it a little bit easier to deal with. Okay, so to my birthday:

As I said we went to The Olive Garden. Chloe was good. Adri was loud...and messy! I felt bad for the people around us and whoever had to clean up her mushed up breadsticks. I also wondered if we'd be one of those families that someday can't go out to eat because of unruly "Adri-like" children.

Sam was a wonderful hub and took Chloe to the bathroom however many times she asked to go. The waitress gave us extra breadsticks to take home & a handful of mints. Both of which made me happy.

My "cake" was a slice of Adam's Peanut Butter Cheesecake (from The Cheesecake Factory). I wish we could afford a whole pie! But the one slice lasted me 3 days. Sam didn't make me share :)

I got some presents from Sam including a gift card to The Olive Garden, binoculars, & yoga blocks. Yes I asked for the last two :) Anyway I hope you all ate ice cream in celebration of my birth and if you didn't please go do so. Thanks for celebrating with me!

We squeezed in a few activities before school started for Sam...

My friend Brandee decided she needed to make a onesie out of an old t-shirt. I told her she was crazy. But we did it. We made one!

We took Chloe and Adri to the Museum of Ancient Life (aka Dinosaur museum) at Thanksgiving Point. Plus side: we had free tickets. Negative side: We didn't realize it was Two-buck Tuesday so EVERYONE was at the museum. Chloe's favorite room was the star room which is dark and has little tiny blue LED lights. I thought it was pretty cool too. Unfortunately it was at the beginning so the whole time we went through she kept asking to go back!

Adri continues to surpass her sister in accomplishments for her age :) She now climbs up on things and only holds on with one hand, going up and down from sitting position. Sam showed me last night she can wave with her hand. She also has two teeth now!

This happened over Labor Day weekend, and I posted it on facebook, but Sam had to go help with a mudslide that happened in Saratoga Springs (our city). He was awesome, helped out two days in a row, and then got an eye infection of which he is still fighting. That put him out for a day of school as during the night his eye was swollen shut. I think it was from helping because he said he got mud in his eyes and then found out the mud was toxic! Oh well, let's hope and pray the infection goes away quick.

Lincoln City

During our trip to Boise we headed over to Oregon to visit the coast! First stop was the Portland, OR temple. Unfortunately it was being cleaned on the outside and the grounds were closed, but we still got to take some pictures & visit the Visitor's Center next door.

This is the statue of Christ at the Visitor's Center.

We stayed in a hotel near Portland the first night. Chloe & Adri had a great time on the sofa-bed. Well, until Adri rolled off. Good news was it wasn't that high, but she wasn't too happy about it!

The next day we visited OMSI in Portland. We'd been there before but not with our kids so it was fun. Here Chloe, Sam, & Nate are making sailboats.

Oh yes, we had some visitors in our backyard. Luckily Clarissa (Nate & Jamie's niece) was protected by a wall around the hot tub or we may have had some trouble!

We shopped downtown and Chloe got this cool sucker. She loves suckers.

The day to leave came all too quickly. However we stopped at this waterfall on the way home and checked it out. It was worth seeing.

We decided to hike up to the bridge - Grandma cheated and held on to Sam so he could pull her up!

We made it! I guess they used to let people climb to the very top but don't anymore. It was very pretty.

I just liked this sign because it has Boise on it. It's the Union Pacific railroad with how many miles to different cities nearby.

3 1/2 Weeks

It all started when Sam went out of town for a week with the Student Council he is now an Advisor of...I knew I would only survive if my mom came to keep me company! So that she did. Thanks mom! Then my sister came to Utah to meet with an old friend and decided to crash at our house for two nights as well. AND THEN I decided since the next week Sam would be gone at basketball camp I would just go to Boise with my mom and when Sam came to Boise we could all ride back to Utah together. Are you following? (We were planning a trip to Boise anyway because from there we were going to the Oregon Coast of which you'll see pictures from in another post)

Chloe & Ellie are a year apart so naturally Chloe wants to do everything she does!

While I was in Boise with just the girls, my mom was babysitting these stragglers for a couple of nights. We were so glad to have them visit! Brayden, Chloe, Brooklyn, & Landon.

Sam's family went to visit the Boise River - tons of fun was had!

We also snuck in a visit to Chloe & Adri's Great Grandma & Grandpa. They had a good time playing with toys that I played with when I was young and visiting.

Then it was Annie's birthday! Happy Birthday Annie! Sam was in town by then so we went over to Annie's house and celebrated. Mmm chocolate cake :)

The day after we got back was Livi Coburn's baptism! I told Chloe about baptism and she said, "I want to go under water." Way to set an example Livi!

Kristine snuck over for a visit! We got to hang out for a while and watch some Olympic soccer - it was an intense game!

And at the last minute, we got a generations photo with my Grammie, mom, sister, and all the little girls... a lot of crazy ladies right there! :) Don't worry, it's a good crazy.

Accomplishments

Sam spray painted an old backboard which turned out pretty awesome. In case you're wondering, that's Thor which is Westlake High School's mascot. Oh, and he made the net!

I found another painting I wanted to copy so this is what became of it...I wasn't sure where to put it, but it fits in perfectly above our master room toilet! :)

Chloe's accomplishment is that she is potty trained (except at night which we haven't tried doing yet...). However now that we're in Boise she has wet on Grandma Smith 3 times! Apparently playing is too important for potty breaks! So, we're working on that. Anyway, she got a bubble machine as her big congratulations present. She loves it and we appreciate not running out of breath!

July 4th

For the 4th of July we went to a parade, swimming at the pool, and then let Chloe stay up to watch the fireworks from our balcony while sitting on our hammock. We had about 3 good shows to watch! In Utah aerial fireworks are legal which is why we could see so many other people's shows.

Chloe became very excited when she saw any fireworks and quickly noted what color they were. She especially liked the ones that "sparkled". Here's a video from that night:

Smith Family Reunion - Lava Hot Springs

We just got back from four days of chaos and fun at the Smith Family Reunion in Lava Hot Springs (Bancroft, ID). I'm still trying to catch up on sleep!

The first night we had a kid talent show. Here they all are lining up to run. Chloe is in pink, following her cousin Ellie as she puts her hands in the air. Maybe that helps with speed?

Then there was the pinata. Sam brought his elephant pinata that he made at school with his students. I had to take care of Adri during this part, but I heard it went pretty well. Sam lined them up smallest to tallest. Brooklyn broke a leg off, Livi made a hole, and Brayden broke it wide open.

Grabbing the candy...looks like it got picked up pretty fast!

Then we did a "Favorite Things" exchange. (You bring 5 of your favorite things, pick 5 names, then give your items to those people) Can you tell what one of Sam's favorite things was?? He ended up picking all girls + dad.

My mom got Chloe and Adri out of bed one morning while I slept...this is what I came out to! Tons of babies! (Penny is 2 months, Hank is 7 months, Adri is 6 months, and Jackson is 11 months)

I got in trouble for taking this one during our breakfast prayer :) But who doesn't love when their kids behave and are ready to pray!?!

Another day we visited Chesterfield, ID which is an old Mormon settlement (out in the middle of nowhere if you ask me). But it was cool. They have about 160 acres of land with houses and other various buildings that you can tour the inside of. Here is a house where 9 kids were raised! I guess this proves you don't need a huge home to have lots of kids.

This is the Bishop's Tithing house/office, one of the last still standing. It was restored thanks to a builder that had a dream on how that was to be done and then carried it out over the course of a couple years.

Chloe was getting tired, so naturally she rested her head on Sam's.

We visited the general store in Chesterfield and got old-fashioned sodas. My mom and I tried out Buckin Rootbeer. Pretty good.

During our last evening, we had a Chopped (the TV show) competition. Sam was paired with Nate and got to work with pineapple, Hershey's candy bars, diet pepsi, & graham crackers.

They proved "most entertaining" as Nate left the lid off the blender when he turned it on, then went to take it off the base and unscrewed it from the blade which made this big mess on the counter and floor!

The final product: (a pineapple or cherry stuffed marshmellow on a graham cracker dipped in chocolate, a blend of coconut, pineapple, & chocolate pudding inside graham crackers, and a glass of pepsi, cherries, and pineapple blended together.)

Tess tried the blend with the pudding and said it tasted like an almond joy. It did look pretty gross though! The kid favorite as well as mine was the stuffed marshmellow on graham cracker.

The kids did do a craft and got to decorate their own pillowcases or onesies depending on their age. I didn't get a picture of that. We also went to the Lava Hot Springs pool for a day and to the natural hot springs. The boys even got in a couple of frisby golf rounds. All in all it was of course a good time. We are glad that our family gets together and spends some time with each other!

Easter

Yes this is late but I had issues getting these pictures...thanks to my brother I now have them. So, this is Easter/Spring Break 2012!

We went to a local church's easter egg hunt. Here lessons on egg hunting were taught since this was the first easter Chloe really understood what was going on.

The church also had other activities like fishing, face painting, and decorating your own cupcake.

During all of the Easter activities, Tess was having contractions (but didn't tell anyone) and went into labor that night! So Graham came to stay, which was a blessing for Chloe as she had a friend from sun-up to sun-down!

We snuck in a night with Annie & Rusty at one of those trampoline places.

When Megan's three kids needed to be watched my mom, myself, and Sam took them to Planet Kid. I love this picture I got of Brayden.

A Visit From The Skovensky's

Although we missed out on seeing Tim, Barbara (Sam's sister) and her three kids came to visit before EFY. Lucky for us we got to have them for 5 days...but it still wasn't enough :(

So we spent many days at the pool...here are my good action shots:

Adri enjoyed watching the action. At this point I still had to keep her in the shade because I couldn't put sunscreen on her yet. (Doc says we're good to go at 6 months)

We visited Bridal Veil Falls

Sam & Ellie climbed to the top of one of the falls. Zach & Hannah climbed up halfway. Can you spot Sam's bright blue shirt??

Here they are again, thank goodness for "zoom in"!

Chloe was upset she didn't get to go climb the waterfall with dad, but we found a good area where she could stick her feet in the COLD water!

Hannah ended up being Chloe's favorite (if I'm allowed to say that). Poor Hannah had to carry Chloe everywhere!

Adri was happy with anyone who would hold her! But Ellie was nice enough to take her most of the time, and feed her. I wish these guys were around more!

I caught Barbara talking on the phone with Tim...that makes up for him not coming, right? It was hard for them to catch each other on the phone since he was in Hawaii making the time difference 4 hours.

This was the cutest moment of the week. Adri loved Aunt Barbara's kisses!

I thought this was cute - Mario kart time! Sam & Zach played a lot and it was hilarious listening to them. For some reason the volume level went up a couple notches when they played but it was still entertaining. I guess it did wake up Adri once!

Mother's Day

I was really sick on Mother's Day but I really wanted to go to church so I just went to the first hour. Chloe wasn't all the way better yet either - she didn't want to go to nursery! It is a good thing I went though, I got a mint chocolate truffle bar that was delicious...that is, until I saw there were 306 calories in that thing! Most importantly, though, I LOVE being a mom to these two girls. I can't cuddle them enough. Without fail they do at least one thing to make me laugh each day. Being a mom brings a satisfaction with life that I've never experienced before - and I had some pretty awesome teenage years!

On another day we taught Chloe about Noah's Ark. We had her gather all of her stuffed animals and under my work desk was the ark.

As it poured, she stayed safe in her ark!

Hair-dos & Solids

Chloe ended up in this cute outfit one day, then I realized I just purchased that flower on her headband and it matched perfectly. Ah the satisfactions of a mother! Don't be fooled, the little bunny-like ears right behind Chloe's head are just the eyes of Chloe's new bunny chair.

We tried some sweet potatoes at about 4 1/2 months, but as you can see Adri really wasn't all that impressed. I did give her bananas at 5 months and she wouldn't stop growling for more. It was pretty entertaining.

I hadn't bought a booster seat for Chloe yet, so Adri got to sit in her bumbo on the floor. Now we have one and Chloe only freaked out that Adri was in her high-chair the first time I put her in it!

Let it be known that on this day I was able to put pig-tails in Chloe's hair and a ponytail in Adri's!

Something happened with my pictures from Easter in Boise so until I can get them back I can only post these videos! But hey, videos are fun too.

My mom was babysitting nieces and nephews so she gathered everyone and we took them to Planet Kid!

Annie & Rusty invited us to a trampoline place where Chloe had a blast! Next time though I'm leaving the kids behind and going to get my jump on! It looked fun!

Spring Has Sprung

We made a mini garden. And I really mean mini. Two strawberry plants and a pepper plant. And then the weather got nasty so we'll see if they even have survived! It was fun to plant them anyway.

We also went to Thanksgiving Point's Tulip Festival. It's like a mini (word of the day) fair with vendors, performers, and paths to walk around with lots of tulips!

We attended on "Dutch Day"...

Where's Waldo? Pretty sure Sam wasn't supposed to go in this little crevice, because on the other side was the huge waterfalls! Crazy man.

We wore Chloe out, success! :)

Adri can roll! This video is showing from tummy to back but she can go the other way too. We are excited for her accomplishments and can't believe she's already 4 months old! Time goes by much faster with the second child...
