Guess what is common about the copies that you make, the faxes you send and receive. They're still in the copier. Once that copier has left the building, either by end of lease, repossession, or sale, the documents are still available to the next person who operates the machine. That person may be at a competing company, a remarketer's facility, or in China.

Wiping the hard drives inside the machine will make the machine unusable, as the operating system for the copier is on the hard drive, and in many cases, features like print, scan, or fax, or even the machine's serial number are encoded on the hard drive.

If this security breach explodes as much as CBS wants it to, since it came out at the beginning of February Sweeps, the manufacturers will need to take care of the issue, but it will probably become the liability of the remarketers or retailers. Only time will tell.
Weight: 18 pounds

The DR-2020U incorporates the reliable paper handling and high-quality imaging capabilities inherent in Canon's DR-Scanner line to provide robust functionality at an affordable price. Ideal for distributed scanning and general office workloads, the DR-2020U offers versatile three-way scanning – a 50-page Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for batch scanning, a flatbed to accommodate unconventional-sized documents, and a dedicated business card feeder tray to handle batch business card scanning. The DR-2020U is capable of one-pass duplex scanning at up to 20 pages / 40 images per minute (ppm/imp) in black-and-white and up to 20 ppm/imp in color. Combined with its user-friendly design and extensive bundled software, the DR-2020U is indispensable to nearly any office environment.

"Canon has a long-standing commitment to answering the digital imaging needs of all segments of the market. With the introduction of the DR-2020U, we are expanding upon our already robust array of digital imaging technologies," said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. "With its user-friendly design, outstanding workflow and increased imaging flexibility, the DR-2020U is a cost-effective addition to help boost office efficiency and productivity."

The DR-2020U features an intuitively designed, copier-like control panel allowing users to quickly navigate through job functions resulting in increased workflow efficiency. Users can easily begin scanning operations through three pre-defined Scan-To-Job buttons for Copy, File and E-mail functions, as well as five programmable Scan-To-Job buttons for assigning up to 50 different imaging tasks. The Scan-To-Job buttons enable multiple users within a workgroup to access frequently performed tasks at the touch of a button, providing for simpler use and greater office efficiency.

Further enhancing user productivity, the DR-2020U includes ISIS/TWAIN drivers, industry standard interfaces which seamlessly link applications and scanners for easy hardware integration with third-party Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software. The new scanner is also bundled with the latest document imaging software packages – including Canon CapturePerfect and CaptureOnTouch, Adobe Acrobat Standard, NewSoft Presto! BizCard, and Nuance PaperPort Standard and OmniPage SE – to deliver a complete end-to-end solution.

Recognizing the need to capture original documents with precision, the Canon DR-2020U features a 1200 dots-per-inch (dpi) optical resolution, and includes a multitude of advanced image processing capabilities such as Advanced Text Enhancement, Color Dropout, Deskew and Border Removal to help optimize electronic document creation.

In addition, the DR-2020U employs efficiency-boosting features such as Double Feed Detection, Auto Page Size Detection, and Skip Blank Page to reduce tedious preparation and presorting of documents prior to scanning, helping to streamline workflows.

Weight: 550 pounds

EskoScan 2024 is designed to meet the demands of magazine publishers, trade shops, commercial printers and newspapers who need a high quality, yet productive large format scanner.

EskoScan 2024 scans at high resolution and holds one broadsheets or up to four A4 pages which makes it the ideal scanner for multiple scanning purposes.

Purup-Eskofot supplies various EskoScan models which match different requirements in terms of format, resolution and productivity. Today many of the world’s leading newspapers, printers and repro houses already benefit from using the EskoScan for converting prescreened originals into electronic data.

The automatic register software aligns color separations in vertical and horizontal direction through an automatic pattern recognition. This allows you to mount all separations on the same job sheet, CMYK as well as spot colors, or on separate ones. The corrections are done during the actual scanning and require no further time consuming attention afterwards.

Additional Options at a Glance

EskoProof workstation – converts CopyDot files into CT images and allows you to proof these on a CT color proofer

PERfection workstation – removes dust and scratches from CopyDot files and edits text

EskoDDS workstation – converts prescreened originals into CT images and allows you to make changes in size and screen ruling or do image retouching

EskoColor software – is your ICC-based colour management system which ensures true and predictable colours every time you scan

The imagePROGRAF W6200 printer's extra-large, bi-directional print head streamlines the workflow and speeds the output, printing A1 size media (594mm x 841mm or slightly larger than 24" x 36") in as little as 1.5 minutes in draft (300 x 1200 dpi) mode, 4.5 minutes in standard (600 x 1200 dpi) mode and seven minutes in high (1200 x 1200 dpi) mode. What's more, the print head is user replaceable, ensuring that printer downtime is held to minutes (not hours or days waiting for a service call).

Utilizing Canons's MicroFine Droplet Technology that consistently provides precise and uniform 8-picolliter ink droplets, a extra-large (1.07-inch, six color, bi directional print head with 1280 nozzles per color (for a total of 7680 nozzles), the imagePROGRAF W6200 produces brilliant graphics in record times. Thanks to Canon technology — including a top quality print mode of 1200 x 1200 dpi — and the use of 1/6-density Photo Cyan and Photo Magenta as two of the six ink colors create smoother color gradations and dramatically reduce graininess particularly in midtone and highlight areas.

The printer employs a new straight paper path design, wherein roll media is fed from the back and printed out to the front and cut sheets are fed from the front. The paper path can be switched manually between roll media and cut sheet media. The imagePROGRAF W6200 also features adjustable head heights to accommodate a variety of Canon specialty media compatible with the unit. A pull out media exit guide supports rigid media to come out flat and stores conveniently in the main unit when it is not needed.

The printer is capable of full-bleed printing on compatible roll- media such as heavy coated paper, photo semi-glossy paper, photo glossy paper and flame resistant cloth in popular sizes including but not limited to 20" x 24" and 24" x 36".

Offered as Canon's latest pigment ink engine — for greater archival longevity — the imagePROGRAF W6200 printer features six individual 130 ml ink tanks that can be easily replaced as needed, even mid-job. Despite its heavyweight printing capabilities — including both roll and cut sheet media compatibility — the imagePROGRAF W6200 is quickly and easily assembled, weighs in at a mere 110 pounds, has a space-saving foldaway basket and a lower profile making access to the roll holder and the LCD panel easier.

The W6200 printer is a multi-platform system supporting Windows 95/98/ME, Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP and Macintosh OS 8, 9 and OS X (10.2). The printer also fully supports the most popular network protocols (including TCP/IP, AppleTalk and IPX/SPX) and ships with a 10/100 BASE-T/TX Ethernet network interface and a USB 2.0 high-speed interface. An optional Firewire/IEEE1394 board is available.

The Canon Graphic RIP included with the imagePROGRAF W6200 printer and contains such features typically found in upgraded or high-end RIP packages as hot folder printing workflow, print server capability, ICC profile based color management, color curve editing and press simulation. Canon's Graphic RIP is both Macintosh and Windows OS compatible.

This printer is an ideal solution for the AEC, CAD, GIS, archive, reproduction and office markets. With new technological advances the ability to quickly and accurately create Maps, Design Layouts, Posters, Photographs, Fine Art Reproductions and more, has never been easier. This innovative device employs a new 5-color dye/pigment reactive ink with cyan, magenta, yellow and black dye ink and two channels of pigment matte black, meaning text is sharper, line drawings are clearer and posters are more dynamic.

The innovations that were incorporated into this printer satisfy the many needs of the markets they are used in. The L-COA image processor is dedicated to the imagePROGRAF and is exclusively designed to drive the best quality output at the highest possible speeds. The new ink system consists of four dye color inks and a 2-channel matte black pigment ink. Doubling the matte black is used for maximum black density and speed. Another key feature of each of this device is the new high-density 1" print head that increases the speed of printing and improves durability. The print head packs in over 15,000 nozzles, which increases the accuracy of the device, as well as the consistency of the output.
