TREND ALERT: Color Blocking

Why hello there bold and beautiful. Color is a happening thing this year, the more the merrier! I personally love color, but some people tend to be afraid of making too much of a statement. You can add subtle accents with a clutch or shoe, you don't have to go all the way like in our inspiration piece below. I found some fabulous examples of color blocking from various retailers. Look of the Week: Chic Office Space

Turning a house into a home can be an easy and fun process. A good starting is your home office. The office space is an easy space to be more expressive and take a few more risks. By risks I mean try out a trendy wallpaper or a bold painted patterned. I love our inspiration space this week! The greens and pinks make a great combination for a cheerful space. I've pulled together three looks that our representative of this space, all with a touch of great floral wallpaper!

Get the Look

This wonderful wallpaper by Graham and Brown displays our green and pink combo perfectly. Instead of brown we have a black base, but we will lighten the space up with white accents.

I love this green chair! I found it at TJ Maxx for a great price. The bottom and back of the chair are lined with silver nail heads. I bought this for my office, which is currently a work in progress.

I found these great round tufted ottomans from amazon. The ottomans in our inspiration picture were old pieces that were re-done by the owner. If you have or if you could find some old pieces and re upholster them go for it! You could find some great pieces with a lot of character.

I love these faux taffeta drapes! They add a dramatic appearance at half the price. These are from halfpricedrapes.com in seaglass.

Like I said before we are going to accent our room with white pieces. This desk is both functional and charming. It has plenty of storage for office accessories and enough detail to add a little character. This beauty can be purchased from homedecorators.com

Both of these chairs would be perfect accent chairs. I have given you the option of a light grey or white. The white would stand out more, but the grey would add a little touch of something different. Like our desk, both of these pieces are from homedecorators.com.

Get the Look

In case you aren't a pink lover, I have a green and brown option without the girly accent. This wallpaper is also from Graham and Brown and keeps with our floral theme.

In this option we will accent with a white and wood combo.I love the style and distressed aesthetic of this writing desk, also from homedecorators.com. This option will give us a more traditional feel as opposed to a chic space.

This is the same chair we used previously. Head to TJ Maxx or Homegoods for similar pieces in different colors and patterns.

I found this ottoman at homedecorators.com, since we are not using an additional accent color the plaid pattern will add a nice visual element.

Apparently I got a little shop happy at homedecorators.com. Both of these chairs would make great accent chairs if you wanted to add one. They would bring a fresh clean element into the space.

Get the Look

Our last featured look leaves out the green and focuses on the pink! Of course you could add green accents if you wanted. This wallpaper like the others is by Graham and Brown. Love this print to pieces!

This chair is a classic beauty. It's got a sassy hot pink velvet fabric and an ivory washed finish. It's a perfect accent piece, sure to grab attention!

We are continuing with our white accent pieces. This is the same desk we saw with our first look. The pink chair will really pop against the white!

You guessed it, from homedecorators.com. This stunning nail head accent chair would be great in a corner or staged in front of the desk. Let people know your the boss with your bold pink chair, keeping your accents muted.

Found this perfectly pink ottoman at amazon. If you place your accent chair in a corner add a couple of these under your desk to pull your pieces together.

Why hello lady! Grab this stunning mirror from 1800lighting.com for under $200! The shape of this mirror is amazing and would compliment any room.

Head over to Zgallerie.com for some amazing accent pieces. I found these owl vases that would make a great decor piece. Add some giant hydrangeas or peonies for the full effect.

Everybody needs storage and if you want to keep your space neat, tidy and organized you're going to need a lot of it! We've got storage bins, baskets, boxes and furniture pieces.If you want to have a fully functional organized home you're going to need a little bit of both.

Chevron Baskets

Why I Love: I love the idea of a patterned basket weave! These baskets come in three different sizes and a variety of color ways. Since these have a chevron pattern I would keep them exposed in a room. It will add a charming touch to any space.

Exposed Table Storage

Why I Love: If you have some cute accent pieces that also serve a functional purpose use a storage piece that will expose them. This is a great way to add a decorative element. I love this light blue double stacked table. This could be an easy DIY project. The distressed dark charcoal piece provides drawer storage and would look great in a cottage chic space.

Blue Buffet

Why I Love: I love the shape and hardware on this piece. You could easily incorporate this piece into any interior style. You could use this as a TV Console, entry table, dining storage piece for linens and serve ware or in an office area.

Large Mirrored Hutch

Why I Love: I don't think I need to explain much here! This piece is fabulous! I love the wood detailing starting from the top all the way down. The mirrored pieces add a great reflective quality. Should be plenty of room to store in here, looks huge!

Patterned Boxes

Why I Love: Boxes are always a good storage piece. It's an easy way to store pictures, dog toys, magazines, etc. If you can find a cute pattern they can look great exposed on a table like this. Find some to match your decor!

Colorful Accents

Why I Love: I love the colors and the mix matched hardware. The style of this piece is adorable, but the stripes give it that extra touch. Drawers are good storage for delicate clothing, or throw blankets.

DIY Storage Box

Here is a cheap, but cute way to get some of your own unique storage boxes.

Supplies:

1. Photo Boxes: I got mine from Hobby Lobby

2. Glue glider

3. Scissors

4. Decorative wrapping paper

Lets Get Going

Here is the plain black photo box I picked up at Hobby Lobby. They have a few different colors and even a couple of patterns.

Step 1

Lay out your lid face down on your wrapping paper. Mine had a grid so I left 2 rows on each side.

Step 2

Cut out the paper, just like a present.

Step 3

Roll your glue glider over the interior edges of the long sides.

Step 4

Fold down paper over the long edges, pressing down over the glue. Be sure to pull firmly.

Step 5

Fold the ends just like a present. Place glue on the interior edges of the shorter sides just like you did in step 3. Fold over the paper and press firmly over the glue.

TA DA

Your lid is complete!

Now you have a fun super cute storage box! Add a fun colorful label to top it off!

Ottoman Inspiration

We have a little house project in the works at my house. We raised our bed and now our little dog can't jump up on the bed, so we need some sort of an ottoman as her "step stool". I'm not quite sure exactly what I want so I pulled together a few inspirational pieces.

Why I Love: First of all I love the velvet fabric! This is an option where the fabric is completely wrapped around the frame. Very simple, but cute none the less.

Why I Love: I was immediately drawn to the details in the legs. The white legs with a bright fabric really pop.

Why I Love: I do love the idea of two small separate pieces. The shape of this ottoman is perfect and could easily be made into a storage piece.

Why I Love: I am on the hunt for mirrored side tables so a mirrored ottoman would tie right in. Not crazy about this fabric, but love the frame!

Why I Love: Both of these pieces are a more traditional style with a modern tribal print. I love the size them. They would go great at the end of the bed and would give my dog plenty of room to jump.

Why I Love: We all know I love velvet, but I love this piece because of the silver finish. Since I am using mirrored bed side tables this would be a cheap alternative for my ottoman.

Why I Love: I do love white, but I love these nail heads even more. Creating a fun pattern out of nail heads adds unique character to the piece.

There is my inspiration so far. Now it's time to do a little shopping and get all the details to my hubby who will actually be making the piece. I'll be sure to post a step by step how to when we start and unveil what choices we made! Be inspired and create!

Decorating with Chairs

An easy way to introduce color or style into a room is to carefully select your furnishings. Chairs serve a functional purpose but can also play a large role in how your room looks and feels.

Gold Dining Chairs

I love these chairs! The gold trim with black velvet cushions look stunning. Not only are the colors gorgeous but the detailing is phenomenal. These chairs are definitely my favorite aspect of this space.

Rainbows

Now here is a splash of color. I love the velvet rainbow fabric on the top chair. With a wide range of color it is sure to fit into any space. The bottom chairs would make great occasional chairs or would make fun dining chairs.

Wing back Chairs

Wing back chairs are timeless. They look great reupholstered and modernized. I especially love the color of these fabrics and the color choices for the wood trim. The white wash and yellow trim really pops against the teal fabric.

Gold and White

I think I'll take two of these! The white and gold are a refreshing color combination. The nail heads and design elements of the frame add unique characteristics.

Pop of Blue

I'm a big fan of this chair style, but I love how they added a splash of blue to the back. Minimal color can make a big statement in an all white room.

Cool Hues

These chairs will make a bold statement, but since they represent the "cool" family they won't be overwhelming. They would make a great office, craft room or girls room chair.

Suite case Chair

So this is probably one of the most unique chairs I've ever seen. An old suite case turned chair. It's a clever idea and is definitely a conversation piece. Perfect for the vintage lover.

Zebra

Here is a great twist to your typical zebra print chair. Combining a print and a solid harmonizes the chair without allowing the print to become to busy and overwhelming. I love the navy and white!

I Spy Something Chevron

Undoubtedly the hottest pattern of 2011, Chevron has consumed the design industries. A notable craze from the year was when Target introduced their Missoni line. The collection was inspired by a variety of geometric shapes with a large emphasis on the chevron pattern. This print has been popping in home decor, the fashion industry, wedding decor, and everyday accessories, including cell phone cases and home organizers.

Interior Chevron

This is definitely a chevron statement! Looking through the pillows you can see the different widths and manipulations of the print along with a variety of colors. A fun print deserves fun color, don't be afraid to go bold. Painting chevron on a wall is fairly simple and makes a great focal point. We'll touch more on this at the end.

A classic wing back chair with a modern twist. Traditional chairs are easy to find at flea markets or garage sales and they look great with a little TLC. These chairs look stunning and will make great conversation pieces.

Now this is a bold courageous decision! Turning your kitchen into a chevron masterpiece will definitely catch your eye. A back splash is not an easy or cheap project to re-do, so you better make sure you are all in! This is a great way to turn your kitchen from drab to fab.

Accent chairs are a great way to incorporate a small dose of chevron print. I love the yellow painted trim with the black print.

Clutch with Chevron Interior

The fashion world has equally contributed to the madness of chevron. Dresses, shirts, accessories even shoes can be found in this print. I found some fabulous tops and dresses that have perfectly incorporated the popular pattern.

DIY: Painted Chevron

I have put together steps to help you paint your own chevron wall!

You will need:

1.Painters tape

2.Pencil

3.Ruler

4.Paint

Step 1

Draw a line where you want the bottom of your first chevron triangle to be.

Step 2

Make a triangle template out of cardboard. Place the bottom of the triangle on your line.

Step 3

Tape off the top of the triangle. Move your template along the wall as shown.

Step 4

Use your ruler to measure how far down from the center of your triangle you want your next triangle to be placed.

Step 5

Repeat steps 1-3

This is what your wall should look like.

Step 6

Repeat steps 1-5 until you have your desired number of rows. Paint in between your tapers paint. Remember to paint one row and leave the next your wall color.

Aqua Accents

For fashion or decor aqua always proves to be a stunning accent. It is definitely my go to color if I have the option! Here are a few looks I love that include aqua accents.

Totally obsessed with that clutch and shoes! Adding these accents compliment the soft chiffon top and always trendy skinny jeans.

Aqua and yellow work lovely together don't they? A soft neutral space spiced up with colorful soft hues. This is an example of using minimal color, but the both the aqua and yellow really pop.

To really emphasis a color try a monochromatic scheme. In this example they have used a darker shade on the walls and light aqua accents. If in a bedroom the space would be just as effective if you used a light paint color and a dark fabric head board.

A true aqua wall! The white wood work plays down the brightness of the cheerful color. The black and white striped couch and pink chairs add a nice playful touch to the space.

I have to admit this was one of the most difficult tops I've tried to hunt down! I still wasn't totally successful, but I do love these options. White Open Spaces

Some may call it the universal color or perhaps not even a color at all, but there is no denying that white doesn't make the most beautiful spaces. I know it's not practical for all spaces, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy admiring them. A compliment to any color white helps a space feel fresh, open and inviting. Here are a few of my favorite white interiors.

Bedrooms

Lets see, how should we describe this room? Classic, dreamy, romantic, warm? Either way it is undoubtedly gorgeous. The unity of white an sunlight make for a comfortable and eye pleasing space. Notice how the bed is made up of an intricate foot board and frame and a simple mirror for the headboard. They have added a gorgeous chandelier and a very dull sage green for the furniture pieces. I give high props to the designer.

Gray, we will call it whites cousin just for fun, is a great way to bring a subtle contract to your space. It's not over powering and still keeps your space fresh and clean. I love this accent chair and a pop of bubble gum pink.

Bathrooms

Your bathroom may not be a spa, but it is the room in your home that most closely mimics one. It can be made into a place to unwind so why not make it a soft and relaxing experience? Plus softer colors can help lighting and balance in small spaces.

Kitchens

In my dream home I would have large windows with lots of sunlight and a whole lot of white. These spaces make my heart smile. I find myself living in a fantasy world when I look at them, coming up with family scenarios in my head, silly I know!

Scenario 1: Family breakfast. Love the windows and built in banquette. The table is simple and stools are standard. We see in this space like in the bedroom they added a light sage green to one of the stools. I also have to mention the gorgeous white hydrangeas, love this flower!

Scenario 2: Kids running through the house while I prepare a nice little lunch. Why I love this so much? The distressed island! The ceiling detail doesn't hurt either. Notice the contrast of dark wood floors, lovely isn't it?

Scenario 3: Kids are sleeping and I am making a feast of a breakfast. I think this space can be summed up with two words, cute and charming. Old worn table with old iron chairs, what a great combination.

Scenario 4: It's a warm summer day and the family is outside taking advantage of the nice weather. The kitchen is in tact and just looking pretty! Stunning features in this space: 1. Dining chairs 2. Light selection 3. Ceiling detail. If you look closely it looks as if the floor is a diamond pattern. Adding patterns to neutral spaces adds character that could be overlooked in other spaces.

I am a fan of color, believe me, but there is something about white I just can't pass up. These are truly beautiful spaces. Be inspired and create!

Shades of Blue

Oh blue how I do adore you! Blue is a great color for Winter and transitions perfectly into the Summer. I haven't heard a lot of people say blue looks bad on them and I don't recall thinking blue ever looked bad on someone. It's a great color for all skin tones and hair colors. Lets see how to spice up your wardrobe with a little bit of that oh so mysterious, yet innocent blue.

Denim has made its come back in the past couple of years, and I don't see it going out of style any time soon. A popular piece has been a light washed denim button up, easily paired with a darker denim trouser or cute white shorts like shown above, but why stop there when you can have a denim romper. You see them everywhere, all styles and colors, and this one adds an embellished bow. I know not all could pull this off and I can admit I am one that could not, but I know there are some that would look fabulous!

The best part about this one is it has a cinched waist, accentuating your waist will flatter your body type, you don't want to look frumpy. Anyone going to the beach? If so, grab this beauty! Imagine a nice dinner shore side with your sweetie. The chiffon will flow nicely with the ocean breeze, but the shape will fit like a glove. You have the best of both world here!

With Spring around the corner I assume most of you will have at least one wedding shower to attend, meaning you will be rummaging through your closet for something to wear. Not overly dressy and still keeping things simple, these looks are perfect for an after event. Chevron could easily be named the most popular print for 2011. This Missoni inspired print dress adds a punch of color, but keeps cool with the deep tones. A perfect choice for an evening event or a dressy day at the office. I love this cerulean blue pleated skirt, but am not in love with how they have it paired. For Spring dress this cute little piece up with a chiffon top and a trendy pair of heels. If you want to pull it off for Winter wear a fitted long sleeve shirt, tucked in of course, and a pair of tall heeled boots.

The cerulean blue bow tie blouse really transforms the business lady. Always keep a chic professional look while at the office, because you are always branding yourself! The floral print blouse is another look that can be dressed up or down. In this picture it is shown with a pair of worn denim shorts, but wearing it with a pair of clean trendy bottoms would be just as pleasing.

What dainty little pieces. A watch is the perfect accessory, both stylish and functional. I love the royal blue textured strap with gold trim. Wearing a unique watch is sure to get a few compliments, wear them daily and look for color, just like you would a necklace. I'm sure a lot of you have a skinny black and brown belt, go ahead and add a couple colors to that collection. This is an easy way to add a slight pop of color to a neutral outfit.

Go ahead, add another bag to your collection. You can never have to many right? I know what your thinking right now, how much you need them and how cute they would look with that new dress you just bought. All three of them are great finds. Furniture Makeovers

A new piece of furniture doesn't have to be "new". In fact, most restored pieces of furniture end up with a lot more character and charm than those in the department stores. Not only can you save money, but you can make restoring furniture a fun afternoon project. Lets look at some fabulous makeovers brought to you by BHG.

Storage Piece

This piece seems pretty easy to accomplish! You will need to sand, prime and paint, add a new cushion and casters and the look is complete. I love the white and green scheme here, and I do believe that rug s from posh living!

Accent Chair

As always, sand first, prime and paint. Add a new fabric, burlap would be a great choice, and stencil in an initial. This would make a great chair in a little girls room or an accent corner chair.

Bed turned Bench

I do have to admit I love this bed as a bed, but it also makes a fabulous settee. They vertically cut the foot board in half to make the arms. Use MDF to make the seat and the front rail, screw and glue the pieces together. Sand, prime and paint then add nail heads for an additional accent. Make or buy a cushion and your transformation is complete!

Vanity to Desk

A dreadful vanity can be turned cute! Remove the mirror and you know the drill! Sand, prime, paint. They recovered the drawers with a decorative paper use decoupage and added new knobs. We have had a mild winter in my area and the warmer temperatures are getting me in the mood for Spring. It's never to early to start collecting so I've found three different looks I love for the coming season.

Bold Statement

Date night or evening with the girls, this look encompasses the "little black dress" with an emphasis on a bold colored necklace.

Casual Day

So it's Saturday morning and you need to go to the store. You are torn between throwing on sweats or getting ready for the day. This outfit is a perfect compromise! The slouchy shorts keep you comfortable and a fitted "T" makes you more approachable. Throw on some cute flats or sandals and you are ready to go.

Lunch Date

Two adorable outfits for a lunch date with your sweetie or your girlfriends. There's not much more to say, cute shorts, casual sweater or blazer, appropriate under shirt and accessorize.

Spruce up your Space

Hello all! I've been away for a week, hitting the slopes, but am ready to get back into design action! Some days I look at my house and think of ways I can easily and affordable transform my spaces. There are a ton of little touches you can do around your home that can make a big impact. Lets look at a few examples.

Paint a chair

You may already have a standard chair lying around your house and if not you can find ones similar to these at your local flea market. Sand down the chair, try and get to the bare wood and paint with the finish and color of your choice. Use them around your dining table like this picture or as an accent piece throughout the house.

Replace your Headboard

Distressed Doors

Old Mantel

I easily get bored with my rooms and am always looking for new headboard ideas. Your headboard can transform your bedroom and is easily the focal point of your room. If you are looking for something different try using two old distressed doors or an old fireplace mantel. I love the old doors with a fancy chandelier, a great way to make the old new! The mantel headboard is one of my favorite ideas! The glass insert adds reflective character and the mantel provides a great base for decorations.

Paint a Chandelier

If you want to add a little color to your space without going overboard think about painting your chandelier, or finding an old chandelier and restoring it. Be sure to prime then spray paint.

Replace your Throw Pillows

You wouldn't believe how much switching out your pillows can change your space. Add new patterns, colors and textures to change things up. You can even keep a few and just add a couple new ones. When looking for pillows keep your eye out for ones that have a different fabric on the back than the front. You can rotate from front to back periodically.

Choosing one small project to spruce up your space will help transform your room without breaking the bank! These are simple suggestions that anyone can do. Be inspired and create!

Crazy about Curtains

Sometimes I think I am most obsessive about my curtains. I always have a vision in my head and of course it's not a vision you can buy off the shelf. Custom made curtains can certainly be a show stopper, they are there to make a statement. I found some rooms that have put a great emphasis on their curtain selection and really warm the space up.

So this isn't a traditional use for curtains, but it sure is fabulous. If you are wanting this look pick a bold pattern to frame your bed. Definitely loving this look!

Green velvet. Must I say more? The rest of this room is muted and toned down. The dab of green couldn't look more great in this space. I also recommend deep red, navy or dark purple.

I know it's been done over and over, but black and white stripes just look good. The vertical lines in a tall space draw the eye upward to the architectural detail. Can't go wrong here.

Great pattern and a whole lot of color. I will imagine the rest of this space is light and clean, with touches of great throw pillows.

No color no pattern, no problem! Using curtain panels to replace a door adds character in itself. This is a great way to make your space unique.

I don't have tall ceilings like these, but If I did I would have draperies all the way to the ceiling. If you don't want to overwhelm yourself with a busy paint color in a large space this is a great alternative to adding color.

If you really want to get after it use two or three different patterns to complete your look. I love the layered drapery look.

To all those inspired by peacock schemes, here is a perfect palette for you collection! Combining two or more fabrics to make one panel will set your draperies a part from the rest. Don't be scared to get creative.

Curtains can be a great way to create a focal point in your space. Don't be afraid to try something bold, the statement will be worth the risk. As always, be inspired and create!

Beautiful Bedrooms

I was randomly looking for cute and trendy wallpaper sources when I came across some of these beautiful bedrooms. I loved them so much I just had to share them! In all of these I love the head and foot boards! They use a subtle patterned fabric to wrap the frames and they have inspired me to find a simple pattern for mine.

My favorite aspects of this first room are the gold wall mirror, the large flower print that pops a bit of pink into the room, the yellow underlying blanket and of course the bed.

The damask print has been popular for a couple years now, but the ivory on cream print in this room looks fabulous with the tan and black striped bedding. It has just the right amount of contrast, no color needed!

Anyone in love yet? For a better look at this bed it is used in the next picture as well. For starters I love the antique doors around the window. I can't really tell what they are, but they add great character to the space. The wow factor for me in this room is the striped purple and brown comforter that appears to be velvet, and if it's not, it should be!

I was really impressed with the bed in this picture. I'm not all that crazy about some of the throw pillows, but I could easily work with that head board and foot board.

Gold and turquoise! Need I say more? Once again I have fallen in love with this bed. The bedding works well, but I personally would change it up a bit.

This is how yellow can work in your favor. Black and white stripes have been popular in recent years and this bed shows all the reasons why.

So obviously what attracted me to this picture was once again, the bed! The woodwork is phenomenal, lots of details and the fabric is a great balance between being bold and classy.

If I had this much space in my bedroom I'd be one happy lady! What drew me to this space was the ceiling detail and the over sized chandelier. I love that they used the window as a focal point and incorporated what I will believe is their favorite color.

These have all inspired to get on the ball and re-do my bedroom! I will be on a fabric hunt for the next few days, so wish me luck! I hope you too have found some inspiration and as always be inspired and create!

So I went around my house and I counted 5 mirrors, this is probably a pretty low number compared to the average household. Mirrors are often used as focal points so it's important to carefully select that perfect "art piece". I went through a few sites and found a few beautiful pieces, enjoy!

Hello Yellow!

Today is dedicated to yellow! We are here to show you yellow is not scary, its perfect. We've found some yellow accessories and inspired rooms to show how great this color can be.

We love these yellow chairs! Pottery Barn had some similar in various colors a while back, you could probably find some around town and spray paint them.

This bedding looks so sharp! It looks great with the white they have pictured, but it would also look great with a very light shade of blue, gray or green.

Love these lamps! Black and yellow are perfect together, just ask the bees! The color combination makes a classic look.

Very cute patterned yellow side chair from Target! Adding one accent of a random color can complete a room.

Like I've said before, I love wallpaper on an accent wall. It draws so much attention and everyone who doesn't have it wishes they did!

Great stool turned accent table!

Look at these great bar stools! I think you should always introduce a fun bold bar stool!

Now this was a gutsy move! Yellow cabinets are very daring, but this space looks great! they have combined a pop of bold color and a patterned accent wall. I especially love that black bench!

Perfect powder bath! I'm a big fan of pedestal sinks and stripes. The window provides enough light to keep this small space fresh.

Design Inspiration

I am constantly wanting to change the decor in my house which means I am constantly looking for new ideas. I found these 5 photos that all have their own unique aspects.

I would love to find an armoire like this that doesn't cost a fortune, this is on my list of to-do's. And what would be even more great is if I had the space to use this piece for accessories only! I think stuffing this with scarfs, hats, jewelry, and basic apparel would be fabulous!

I have two favorite colors, soft lime green and various shades of light blue. So when a room uses one of these colors I will probably love it. First of all I love the patterned yellow wall! I think accent walls like this are a great addition to any room. Secondly I love the blue chairs, this picture is great because it shows you how you can use color and not overwhelm a space. The rest of the room is very neutral, but the pop of color turns it into a masterpiece!

I'm pretty sure this picture is from Pottery Barn a few years ago, but I still love this office. I'm obsessed with white furniture and green, so this completes me! A bright color works as long as you offset it with neutral accessories.

Finding small inspiration from large pictures can turn into a weekend full of DIY crafts. Some ideas for you this weekend: 1. Find a piece of old furniture to re-finish and stuff your accessories. 2. Gift Wrap Ideas

I love unique gift wrapping ideas and I'm sure there is a small portion of you who still have Christmas wrapping to do! If you want to change up your style a bit here are some great ways to wrap your gift!

Picture wrapping

This one is my personal favorite! Find fun pictures of your family and friends and attach black and white copies to craft paper. Instead of craft paper you could use a solid color wrapping paper if you want to brighten it up.

Handmade gift tags

This is a great way to make unique gift tags. You can find these craft punches at Hobby Lobby or your local craft store.

Initial wrapping

Initials are popular in ever aspect these day, so why not jazz up your presents with them? You could use pre-cut initials or if you want to get down and dirty make your own using your choice of patterned paper!

Ribbon Accents

This is a more traditional approach to gift wrapping. Add lots of ribbon and you can go wrong right? Come up with a unique bow idea using textured ribbon, Christmas stems, or small ornaments.

Name Stickers

I also love this idea! This is pretty simple, buy some lettered stickers and stick them on! Your "gift tag" adds all the character in this wrapping technique.

DIY Christmas Chair Tiebacks

This is one of my favorite Christmas DIY projects. I found this idea from Sam's Club and thought I would share it with you. I made the tiebacks for my bar stools, but you can do your dining room chairs if you would like. This is a great idea if you will be entertaining!

You will need:

1. Mesh Ribbon

2. Decorative Ribbon

3. Ornaments

4. Floral Wire

Step 1:
Tie mesh ribbon around each chairs back

Step 2:
Make a bow by gathering one end of the mesh ribbon and making two loops. Secure middle with 18" of floral wire. You will use this piece of floral wire for step 3 and 4 as well.

Step 3:
Make a bow out of the decorative ribbon. Attach the bow to the mesh ribbon using the floral wire in step 2. Pull the floral wire through the ornament holes and attach.

Now you have these fabulous chair tiebacks!
