(The video… um, yeah, Cruxshadows is a Goth band, so the video’s weird, and the band members are weird… but the song- Damn. Got it from the Marines in John Ringo’s books- specifically, The Voyage of the Space Bubble series, although I seem to recall seeing Mighty Mike O’Neil playing this one as well…)

The first, hereafter called A, feels that they’re sometimes ignored and, in A’s own words, “Merely Tolerated,” that everyone thinks A’s a terrible player and not worth responding to in chat. And sometimes? Yeah, I guess I kinda see it. I mean, A’ll post something in chat, and…

Then, moments later, someone else logs in, or says something unrelated- and half the guild is there to say Hi, or make an appropriate response. And it’s annoying, sure, but it happens to everyone, or so I thought- never thought anything of it when it happens to me; but A tends to take it personally… and I have no idea what to do about it.

The other, let’s call them “B” is a kid, and occasionally acts like it. B wants badly to be a grownup, and does a decent job of acting like it most of the time, but B’s in a conflict with another guild member… when he was applying, he said some things that he regrets, and apologized profusely, and the other guild member says they’re giving B a second chance, etc., and B’s in the guild now (and you know that Wind wouldn’t have allowed him in if he was in a conflict Wind knew about,) so it must be true… but that guildy tends to react VERY poorly to anything from B that, were it from another guild member, would be dismissed… I get the feeling this member takes everything B does as coming from one of “those players-” you know, the ones that go on BBB’s wall of Shame- rather than a guildy that’s having a bad moment. (Granted, B has more than the usual SD member; he “Grew up” in WoW surrounded by players of “That Kind” and picked up a LOT of bad habits, of which we’re doing a pretty good job of breaking him… but it’s still a work in progress. ^_- ) But in the end, B is feeling crushed by that; I mean, B could have walked away, joined another guild, etc., but he realized he was in the wrong, apologized profusely, etc., both because he wants to do what’s right, and because he REALLY likes SD- members, leadership, culture et al. – and now he’s basically being treated like the apology was insincere. And since the guildy that is in conflict with B is a fairly high-profile member, I worry that it’ll spread, and he’ll feel like all the effort he put into correcting his childish idiocy was a waste- and maybe even turn into one of “those players.”

Now, were it any other guild… were I still in LI, or even BA… this’d be a no-brainer. I’ve been trying to find solutions for a couple MONTHS, and so far, no results… and since they’re FAMILY, /guildquit and we move on, either starting our own family guild, or joining another established guild. But… I REALLY, REALLY love SD, and don’t want to cut bait and move on. This guild is awesome; all kinds of great people, lots of fun, etc. Heck; A and B don’t even REALLY want to leave… but it’s really starting to wear on both of ‘em.
