Temple Israel Boston Wedding Photos | Jen + Jon

Jen and Jon were married and had their ceremony and reception at Temple Israel in Boston. Such a beautiful location! The temple is huge and the cocktail hour is held in this huge Foyer area with marble all around. They got a beautiful day with no rain. Jen was a referral from a past bride Lynne who got married last year during Hurricane Irene at the Codman Estate. I love shooting referrals from other brides because I get to see old brides, and shooting their friends, they know what to expect with how I work.

I was so excited to see the flowers were by Tangerine Creations. They always do such a great job!

Elizabeth was a friend of senior, Matt, who I photographed a few months back. I realized I never blogged that session! I’ll get that up next. She’s attending BC next year and SO excited to be going there, it was her TOP choice. We had a great time walking around Andover, taking photos for her Yearbook. Newborn babies are so sweet and fresh and new. (i Know I know). Baby J, unlike her two other siblings, slept through 90 percent of her session, which made photos of her so easy! I did something a little different this time and I really love the results.

I’m very behind on blogging, I’ve been so busy on marketing my magazine and getting it out there! About two months ago I did a shoot for Holly and Art for their engagement photos. They are getting married later this year up in New Hampshire and I was thrilled that they wanted me to do engagement photos with me! They just recently bought a house and we talked about how home ownership is amazing and hateful at the same time. They are doing about the same amount of work on their house as we are doing on our “new” home.

Adrianna turned 15 and her parents threw her a party! We started the day at her home in Newton and then went over to the Newton Marriott for the dances and ceremony! She looked AMAZING in her Red Quinceañera Dress, and her court looked spectacular. I had forgot what it was like to be around 15 and 16 year olds. The hugging the screaming, the “OMG”. These kids (and at 16 they are still kids!) had so much fun that night! They reminded me how easy being 16 was, and how growing up makes you forget that you use to run down the hall and hug your friends. It was so much fun shooting this event, and I hope to do more. They had such great details. From the pink Punch to the dresses the girls wore. They even set up a casino for the kids to play blackjack and roulette.

I had the honor and privilege of shooting one of Westminsters Best in Show dogs, litter of Puppies. Now if you know anything about me, it’s that I LOVE puppies! Love them. I’ve been known to pull a car over, stop, and get out just to pet one. When Emily called me and asked if I’d be up for the challenge, I was so excited I wanted to know how much I’d have to pay HER to do it!

This was by far the craziest and most adorable shoot I’ve ever been on. Trying to wrangle and get the attention of 12 (yes, I did say 12) puppies was a challenge. I wasn’t sure how the photos would turn out, but if I was being paid to shoot (and play) with 12 puppies, I was up for the challenge. Photographing animals is a lot like photographing children. I always tell my clients “set you expectations low, and be surprised by what you’ll love”

The Mom of this litter is Mazzie, she’s a Best in Show dog! She’s an amazing dog. I photographed her once before as part of an MSPCA fundraiser I had. She was such a sweet dog, and it made me fall in love with another breed.

I asked Emily to summarize Mazzie for me.

“…She is pretty impressive! And of course you can use the old photos you have of her. She has shown at Westminster three times and won Best of Breed in 2009. She was ranked in the top five Black & Tans in the country in 2009 and 2010 (#6 in 2008). She is featured on Animal Planet’s DOGS 101 show (she is the dog in the white room) and she is the Black & Tan Coonhound featured in Kate Lacey’s photographic breed guide “Show Dogs”. She loves kids and my husband is working towards her being a therapy dog at Childrens’. She is training for titles in agility, obedience and tracking. She knows how to bow (of course!), twirl, roll over and give high five. Her favorite things besides sleeping and counter surfing (bad dog!) are her kitties and tortilla chips. She is a pretty cool dog and we are so lucky that we get to spend our lives with her. ”

Now, I’m sure, you want to see the puppies- right? I know I know. Me too!!!

Each puppy is here, all have very different personalities, but all look very much the same. It was hard to tell them apart. So hard, I had to have Emily come in, and help me make piles of puppies!

New Year Engagements?

Happy New Year!!! I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday and I am so excited to start 2012 off. I had a wonderful holiday with my family and we are back working our normal schedule.

I am so excited that this year will bring a Newletter PDF aimed at helping give tips and tricks to my clients. It will have real interviews with real brides and ideas for how to make your day flawless. It will also include some photos of weddings gone by. Stand by your email boxes and my blog to be sure you get the latest version. It’s slated to be a great read!

With the New Year comes new resolutions. I don’t generally make resolutions, I find them hard to stick by. This year, I’m setting goals. I’ve vowed for the last few years to lose weight, and well I haven’t gained weight, the scale never seems to move in the direction I want. (Ya, being old). In the last few months, I’ve been working with a trainer. Let me tell you, I have more strength than I have ever had before. Truly. I’m amazed at how much I can lift, and how much you can actually sweat at the gym. You’ll hear more about my trainer Eric, in the next few weeks. I hope to be able to spotlight him in one of my newsletters. My sister inspired me to get a trainer after she lost 60 pounds with her trainer Dan. For all my brides out there, You’ll hear more about Dan too!

My goals this year:

Lose weight…

drink more water

eat better

Sleep more

Read a few books this year

Finish the scarf I’ve been knitting for 2 years.

Book 20 weddings. I’m half way to that goal.
