When my stupid-ness crapped my computer up because I installed the Windows 7 beta, I took my brothers old computer. Which is actually the same as mine, but he bought a new one because he couldn't find out how to get rid of all the viruses he had from all the music he downloaded.

Well, I have Comcast, so I get McAfee for free, and trusty ol' McAfee got rid of over 100+ infected files. This thing works very well now. Now, on to the story.

I've always wanted to run a very well designed web site. Wether is was based off of sports, music, or video games. I chose video games, and video game sites are content heavy, with great designs. But if you want a good designed site for video games, you need to fork over some cash. And I can not fork over any cash right now.

So I did something simple, stupid, and now, quite possibly really smart. I googled "Free Web Hosting". Yep. A site came up, I signed up, trusty ol' McAfee didn't show any viruses-so far-and hopefully, this could cause the "Major Update". So once I get things all sorted out, CGN should be running like a professional site!

Wish me luck! - Matt

Nintendo at E3 09 - It can't get much worse

After last years Nintendo E3 Conference, I tried to convince my self that it really wasn't the worst conference in the world. But in the end, I ended up only agreeing with everyone else in the world. Minus a quick reference to Call of Duty: World at War, and the announcement of GTA: China Town Wars, there was almost absolutely nothing that catered to the hardcore audience. Now that Nintendo has thrown out all the casual talk in last years E3, this years E3 just can not get any worse.

There are so many things Nintendo could surprise us with. I mean, Miyamoto himself said he is running out of innovative ideas. And most times Nintendo has an innovative idea now-a-days, it turns out very casual. Which may be a bad thing since Nintendo is known so well for their innovation. But less "super creative ideas" could mean less casual talk, and back to traditional core games.

I believe there is a slight, and I mean a very slight chance of a new Zelda announcement. Although it's possibly, It've not very likely. But once again, Nintendo needs to make up for last years E3, and what better way to do so then annoucne a new Zelda?

Then there is Pikmin Wii. Miyamoto obviously knew everyone was completely disappointed by the conference, so he made an un-official quick announcement that they are working on a new Pikmin. We are bound to hear news on the new Pikmin title this year at E3, and if not at E3, then at least sometime this year.

Nothing could have been hyped up more than Kid Icarus. But at the last second, the main source for all this Kid Icarus news announces the day before Nintendo's E3 conference that they won't be showing anything. But this year on the other hand, is a great possibility. That is, if the developer doesn't go out of buisness.

There are plenty more great titles seeing release on Wii this year. But these are third party titles, such as The Conduit, MadWorld, and Monster Hunter 3. So hopefully we can expect Sega and Capcom to share some info about those games.

Be sure to check back for 360 and PS3's E3 09 articles.

CGN Going Under Construction

Before I start posting a lot of news and articles, I want the site to be very well established, with a good design, and so on. When I first saw it, I thought it looked interesting because they were taking the Halo franchise out of it's FPS genre and bringing in something different. But that's about the only think I've ever thought was interesting about this game.

Reading through user-heavy websites and a couple of forums here and there, I've seen little hype for Halo Wars despite the first three Halo games selling extremely well and basically being the console selling titles for the Original Xbox and the 360. The only person-or company- I've seen hype this game up is Microsoft. When it comes to exclusive titles, I haven't seen much coming from Microsoft. I know there are ton's of great games coming out the 360, but most will also be seeing a release on the PS3 as well.

So far, the only exclusives that I've really seen from Microsoft are Star Ocean 4, Halo Wars, Halo: ODST, and Alan Wake. Go ahead and start posting "Are you kidding? There are ton's of 360 exclusives coming!" And then start naming off a bunch of games I've either never heard of or just slip my mind at the moment.

I personally do not think Halo Wars is going to sell well. Halo: ODST looks good so far, and it will probably sell well. But it's just an expansion pack. Star Ocean will likely be a solid title, with decent sales numbers. And we are finally getting some news about Alan Wake.

Microsoft is bound to have a couple of good titles late this year, but we need more titles to hold us over through the spring and summer until then. With the PS3 having titles like God of War III and MAG possibly releasing late this year, what could Microsoft have in store for us?

New Gears 2 Update coming this month fixes ton's of glitches

If there is one thing that cut down the replay value of Gears 2 for me, it would be the online glitches people would constantly use against me. It becomes so frustrating when you walk up to shotgun someone in half only to have them crouch down and start shooting at you as if they had a boom shield, but somehow still have that shotgun out. I got to the point to whenever someone would do this glitch against me, I would just walk up to them and give them the kill. I know you can still kill them while they do this glitch, but every time I've tried it seems nearly impossible.

Enough ranting. Epic has announced a "Major Gears 2 Update" is coming this month and is going to fix almost every glitch you can do. Ah, back to the good ol' fun of blasting people to pieces through sheer legitimate skill.

Link

Should Nintendo release Wii 2 sooner rather than later?

There have been debates whether Nintendo will release their next console early so they can be up to date with this generations standard tech. But others disagree, and believe that since the Wii is still selling like crazy, there is no need to release another console.

Both sides make great points. The Wii is far behind in today's console hardware. Not even being able to support HD is a huge disadvantage, seeing as we are in an HD era. But when it comes to sales, it doesn't seem like Nintendo's little white box needs HD. The motion controller practically sells the system. Lack of robust online features and core titles rarely seem to effect sales, but it does effect Nintendo's loyal fan base, which a portion of them have now turned to the 360 or the PS3 for their core needs, often stating that "The Wii is a nice compliment to me 360/PS3."

I've always believed in the Wii. I still believe in the Wii, with third party developers stepping it up and releasing games like The Conduit, MadWorld, and the now exclusive Monster Hunter 3. But I personally think Nintendo should release there next console early, around 2010.

Nintendo has been banking in a lot, and I mean a lot of money with the Wii. They barely even need pay for advertising because everyone knows what it is, and everyone wants one. I know it's not very likely, but just thinking about how much they made from the Wii, and thinking about how much of that could go into the development of their next console, and their first party titles. 100 hour Zelda? Not likely. But we can dream, right?

What do you think? Should Nintendo release their next console sooner (2010) or later (2011-12)?

CGN's Top 5 games of 09

Everyone else is posting up a Top 5 09 games list, so why shouldn’t I? It’s not easy only picking out five games to look forward to into the year, especially considering what else could be announced sooner or later in the year.

The games in this list are games that are confirmed for 2009. There are some games that look very good and would make the list, but those games are likely going to come out in 2010.

Here is CGN’s Top 5 Anticipated Games of 09

#5 - Resident Evil 5 (PS3, 360)

I know most of you will call me crazy for putting RE5 at the number 5 spot. But some people aren’t as interested in certain games as much as others. And that is the way I feel about RE5. I wasn’t a very big fan of the Resident Evil series until I played Resident Evil 4. And as fun as it was, I’m still not a huge fan of the series. I’m not saying I don’t like it. I enjoy the games, just not as much as others.

#4 - MadWorld (Wii)

It’s not often a company develops a game in which you get to dismember your foes in more then ten ways. And that is why I am exicted for MadWorld. It’s also being directed by Shigenori Nishikawa, the man who helped develop Resident Evil 4, and produced by Atsushi Inaba, the guy who created Okami, Viewtiful Joe, and God Hand.

#3 - BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams (360, PS3, PC)

I wasn’t going to put this on the list at first, but Take-Two CEO Ben Feder did say, “”We’re excited about our 2009 pipeline, which will include [many titles]…as well as new offerings from such powerful franchises as BioShock, Mafia and the 2K Sports roster.” I haven’t really seen this one on most gamings sites Games of 09 lists.

#2 - KillZone 2 (PS3)

Now, this game made number one on a lot of lists out there. But lemme tell most of you a very sad tale; I didn’t get the beta. I’ve been a member on PlayStation Underground since 2005, have my PSN accounted hooked up, searched forums and extra codes and did everything I could. But I didn’t get in. It’s a disappointing tale, but it just shows why my hype for KillZone 2 is not as high as everyone elses. But trust me, I still have a lot of hype for it.

#1 - The Conduit (Wii)

Before you all start shouting “fanboy!” I just want to ask you multi console owners, what exclusive have you been playing for your PS3? Resistance 2? Same here. What about the 360? Gears of War 2? I’m on it as well. But what about the Wii? The Conduit, plus some other exclusive titles, will be the reason I get to dust off my Wii for a second time. The Conduit really proves that “The little game console that could” really isn’t as weak as most think. It is a very impressive looking game, with tons of great tech features, along with 16 player online, voice chat support, and more. The Conduit really seems to be a break out third party title for Wii, and that is why The Conduit is CGN’s number one.

Don’t agree with the list? CGN is all about posting the biggest, most interesting news in the video gaming industry, and I hope we can grow to become a very well known site by all gamers!

My name is Matt, and I'm the founder and head writer of CGN. I've written for past sites like Wii Live, which has sadly ended, and The Gamers Cafe, which is currently "taking a break".

If you wish to write for CGN, then send an email to Matt0693@gmail.com. CGN is currently a non paying job, but if an article/review you wrote drives in enough views, then you will a portion of the ad money.

CGN is currently looking for both News Writers and Game Reviewers. So once again, send an email to Matt0693@gmail.com and tell me what console you'd like to write about and/or review games for.

And as a notice, the banner/logo for CGN is not final. If anyone out there is good with photoshop, let me know. And the site design is not final as well.
