Time for my Chewy.com treat of the month review! I apologize in advance for the crappy cell phone pics. I mentioned that we are in the process of moving.. well we are in an apartment currently, but 75% of or stuff is still packed away and I couldn't find my camera charger! Found it finally, but after the fact.. pfft! We bought a house too! Moving in next weekend! Cannot wait!!

It was love at first sight for Gibson...

It took him a good 5 minutes to finish the chew.. which isn't bad. But I wouldn't compare them to a true long-lasting chew. Plus, there are only about 5 chews in the package for not a cheap price. But they did make Gibson super happy.. I think for a once a week or month special treat, they are worth it!

Wayyy back in June, I received this Chewy.com treat of the month! Been a bit busy since then. We moved to a different state and sold our house! Now we are looking for a new one.. ooof! ANYWAYS.. finally getting to my June review.. sorry Chewy!

I was sent these awesome Natural Balance Dental Chews for Gibson to try out. They were Pumpkin & Chicken Meal (gotta go with anything pumpkin!). Plus, Anything that will clean Gibson's teeth gets a thumbs up from me!

It was no surprise that Gibson loved these chews. For one, they are a bit bigger than his normal treats, so that made him do a happy dance every time. Plus, I think the texture is fun for him. Kind of like an edible chew toy.

FURminator Dual Brush For Dogs

My Chewy.com review last month was for a FURminator Dual Brush For Dogs!

I wanted to try it because Gibson really does not like getting brushed with deshedding brushes, so I thought I'd try something more gentle...

Test #1: He let Hadley brush him with it! OMG I was sold right there! (it could have been because of the breadstick in her hand, but whatever!)

I then saw, of course, that this brush is meant for dogs with short/silky coats. Whoops, that's definitely not corgis! But on to Test #2:

After bath brushing! Look at all that fluff! I held Gibson down and brushed him like crazy with this new brush. It took awhile, but he looked a lot better than when I started! And he didn't try to run away as much as with the original FURminator.

So, I think this would work better for short/silky hair dogs, but if your dog is super sensitive, like mine, this is a good alternative brush when you don't need to get tons of undercoat out :)

I really like these bags! And LOVE the dispenser!! They are a perfect size, tear apart easily and are a good neutral color (bonus points for matching my leash perfectly!). The dispenser hangs on my leash nicely and doesn't come apart or fall off like other dispensers I've tried.

And I love the little hanger to hang your 'used' bags on while you walk. Genius!!

I got the lavender scented bags, and I really like the scent! I've tried some scented bags that are too overwhelming or have a strange film on the bags that irritate my hands.. these did neither!

I've always been a fan of Dogswell products, which is why I chose these! They use healthy ingredients and usually have an added health benefit in them. These particular treats help maintain eyes, skin & coat!

I chose them because of the promise to keep teeth and gums clean (which Gibson can always use extra help with). Plus, they are 100% natural and sourced from the USA. AND only 1 ingredient: Beef Tail.

They are pretty good sized. Some are a lot bigger than other, which is nice, since sometimes I only want to give Gibson a little treat. A lot more come in the bag than I expected. A month later, I still have some left!

Gibson absolutely goes nuts for these. His nub wiggles like crazy and and zooms off to the living room to eat them :) A great treat to add to your repertoire!

Love these!! TropiClean Fresh Breath + Plus Hip & Joint Dental Dog Treats were my Chewy.com review for November. So awesome!

Dental chews + hip & joint support??! Plus gluten, grain, corn & wheat free?? Whoever thought of these is a genius.

I couldn't have received these at a better time. Gibson had just had a vet's appointment where his teeth were less than stellar and he had a limping thing going on. The vet suggested upping his brushing (i'm so bad at remembering) and putting him on a glucosamine supplement. So basically, I got a 2 for 1 in these chews! Score! (yes, I have been brushing his teeth also and he takes a glucosamine pill daily)

They are the perfect size chew for corgis. Not too big, not too small. They have nice ridges to help remove plaque and I really have noticed better breath!!

AND most importantly.. Gibson loves them!!! Every single time he got one, he did his happy dance through the house. Going to have to get more of these for sure! :)

I think the best thing about these treats is that they look like Teddy Grahams for dogs! They are super adorable, aren't they?? Opening up the bag, you can see just how many treats you get! I usually give these as a training treat since they are on the small size.. or when Gibson doesn't really NEED a treat, but is giving me those eyes.. You know the ones ;) I don't feel guilty about giving him something small and he enjoys the little treat :)

Merrick Seasonal Grain-Free Homecoming Holiday Recipe Canned Dog Food

It's time for a Chewy.com review! This month, we tested out Merrick Seasonal Grain-Free Homecoming Holiday Recipe Canned Dog Food.

I thought it'd be a nice treat for Gibson, since we usually stick to the same type of dry dog food for every meal. The Homecoming Holiday flavor sounded great with the holidays coming up!

The ingredient list is pretty good. Standard (dog safe) soup ingredients and it's grain free!

He gobbled it up and spent like 20 minutes licking every bit off the bottom of the bowl. Definite winner from Merrick!!

They pieces of fish come in a variety of sizes, which is nice if you want to give your dog a lot or a little. And they are also easily broken apart if you'd rather only give a taste at a time.

I, on the other hand, forgot I have a serious sensitivity to all things that smell 'fishy'.. and these are almost gag-inducing.. ooof! Every time I'd open the bag to give him a treat, my whole kitchen would smell like fish. So, I think these are a great treat, overall, but I wish they came in some other flavor.. like chicken? For those of you that that don't mind the smell of fish, enjoy! :)

Corgi Party Dessert Toppers For Cupcakes, Cookies & More!

This is one of my favorite things I've ever reviewed.. Edible Corgi Dessert Toppers!!

Jen from Three Cheers for Corgis on Etsy designed them and they are printed on edible frosting from Ticings.

I tried them out for a birthday party I was going to and they were a hit!! All the kids loved them and wanted a doggy cupcake. I taste tested them and they are a little stiff at first (kind of like fondant), but after a couple of hours they mold to the frosting you've applied them too and you can barely tell they are there. I actually prefer the texture of them over cupcakes without a 'sticker'. Have a bit more bite to them. So much fun!!

Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Glow in the Dark Whistle Ball

This month's Chewy.com review was a little different.. Not treats, but a toy! The Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Glow in the Dark Whistle Ball to be exact.

I thought it'd be a good idea to review this ball because Gibson loves balls... but he's very picky about them! He loves the Chuck-It orange balls (you know the ones), I guess because they have the right amount of squish to them and they are super bouncy (I love them cause they last forever). He hates regular tennis balls since they aren't squishy. So, I decided to give this Whistle Ball a try.

First thing I liked about it is that it fit in our Chucker (maybe a bit loose, but it worked). I gave it a try and Gibson seemed to love it! He ran faster than usual, maybe because of the whistle? It also tastes like MINT! He ran back and squished it as he came, so seal of approval there ;)

Unfortunately this was the best photo that I got of Gibson with the ball (and Hadley eating ice cream) because I immediately lost it after the first time we tried it out!! Where the heck is it?! Maybe because it's not bright orange? I'm really bummed about it because it seemed like an awesome ball :( Guess I know what Gibson is getting for Christmas this year ;)

Birthday Boy

Yesterday was Gibson's 6th Birthday!!

I wasn't sure what to get the dog who has everything.. so I decided to make him some homemade dog treats instead of something from the store. They turned out super cute! I used this cookie cutter to cut them out.

The recipe was so super easy! Just 2 cups of flour and 2 jars of baby food! Then roll out and bake for 20-25 minutes. I topped Gibson's with some greek yogurt and blueberries!

He loved them!!

I chose them because.. well.. Gibson has STANKY breath and I'm not really a fan of "Greenies". These were more attractive to me because they are Grain Free & Natural.

They are "Big Brush Bones" so they are a bit on the big side for a corgi.. but it makes them that much more special for Gibson. He does a serious happy dance every time he gets one!

Submission Guidelines

All entries should be emailed to ksteck23(at)gmail.com - replace (at) with the @ symbol - no later than August 22, 2014. 30 finalists will be chosen and be put to the public vote. Winners will be announced soon after!

You must have rights to the photos that you are submitting.

Only 2 entries per corgi, please!

When you submit your entries, please include your dog's name and your location. If you have a website, blog or Facebook page, include the web addresses.

Please send the original sized version of your photos (high resolution). They should be at least 11.25" wide and 8.75" high at at least 150dpi to ensure the highest quality calendar. The file size should be at least 1mb.

Photos received may be cropped and resized and edited to fit specific calendar sizes and guidelines.

You will retain the rights to your own photos, and can still submit them to any other contest, sell them, or use them however else you like!

Photo Tips

Photos needs to show your corgi's butt :) but if their face is in there as well, that is fine!
Try to get down on their level (on the ground) to get the best possible photo. It makes a huge difference! :)
Photos should not include humans.
Photos can be from previous years if they are your best photos.
Outdoor and season specific shots always work well!
There can be multiple corgis per photo submission.
Pembrokes, Cardigans AND Corgi Mixes are all acceptable.

Can you believe it's almost April? Sure doesn't feel like it where I live, but Gibson and I are enjoying actually being able to go for walks again w/o freezing to death! :)

My Chewy.com treats of the month are Old Mother Hubbard Gourmet Goodies Fruit'ins with Honey, Apple & Bacon Duo-Layered Baked Dog Treats! I chose them because, well, hello! Bacon? Apple? Honey? What's not to love?

Also, I thought they looked like human cookies, which is always fun for dogs, right? Oh and of course, I love anything by Old Mother Hubbard!!

These treats are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and made with wholesome natural ingredients.

And they look tasty!!

Gimmeeeeee!!!

I like the size of these. They're a good 'special every day' treat. Not too big, but bigger than a training treat. And of course, the Gib approves ;)
