Yeah you better believe this post has an H theme. Other words that begin with H include: Hemophiliac, Hermaphrodite, Homosexual, Herpes and Hexagon.

A band that begins with F but have an H somewhere is Fury of the Headteachers. Another Artrock favourite the Sheffield 5 piece provide us with some poundingly good racket with energetic vocals delivered with such intensity that you wouldn’t even have to see them live to know they’d be absolutely manic. The album is another one of my favourites with incredible pace on every track and even after having it for a year it never ceases to get me jump around like a massive twat. That’s gotta be a sign of good things.

Fury of the Headteachers - Not What It Used To Be

Second on my list of sexy H bands are I Heart Hiroshima. These 2 Brisbane lads and 1 Brisbane lass make some damn catchy tunes and whilst lyrics aren’t the deepest most emotional ones you’ll hear they’ll be stuck in your noggin for a good few hours and have your right foot tapping away for ages. The fact that they’re a bass-less band make them even more interesting to listen to but the loss of the bass is no loss to the quality of music. They even share the vocals between the 3 of them so you don’t have to listen to one bland voice over and over. Not that the voices are bland at all. Unique band, funny name, catchy tunes. Listen to ‘em guyz.

Opera And Picnics

What a bank holiday it’s been eh! Sleep until 12, bit of Xbox then just casually creating a soon be great music blog. It’s a crazy life we young boys lead. Anyway I thought I’d round off the day with 2 more cracking bands you might or might not have heard. First off are another band getting increasingly popular and not without deserves.

Operahouse are getting more media coverage from mainstream radio and even Johnathan Ross played them on Radio 2. Don’t let that fwoppy haired wiwwy (see what I did by making fun of the speech impediment?)put you off though. They've already toured with the great Tokyo Police Club and the 4 guys from North-London make damn good sounds and real dancing tunes at that. Apparently they’re no media-whoring titheads either and just want to make good music. Their track Born A Boy is another favourite of mine and a surefire indie club hit and listening to more of their tracks they’ve got some other jaunty little tunes as well. Gutted I missed these at 93 Feet East recently but I’m sure I’ll get to see them soon.

In the mean time have a listen to the track and make your own mind up.

Last up tonight are the incredibly named Haemostatic Picnic Races. Nice. Described as a weird mix of Fugazi, ATDI and Bloc Party they mix their mental guitar work with screamy/shouty vocals. The vocals don’t offend though and even though it may confuse the hell out of you sometimes it doesn’t make you want to switch off the music and cry. The songs are full of unmistakable effort and I’m sure they’re mental live and with lyrics such as Tin tin taught me how to disco you can’t not at least have a listen.

Absolute Choons

Wahey! So this is the first real post on the blog and to kick it off the first band I’m featuring is one that many have been told to watch out for as they could become big. The band is White Lies. They’ve only got 2 songs on their MySpazz and one/two more floating around the interwebs from what I can see but they can already create an epic tune or two. I’ve been listening to them for a month or two and Death is one of my favourite songs of the year so far.
They spawned from the remains of Fear of Flying when they split and are already attracting a fair bit of attention. They’ve received mainstream radio play on Radio 1 and are about to embark on the NME New Noise Tour with Crystal Castles, Friendly Fires and Team Waterpolo. They really offer a fresh sound from all the ‘indie’-crap in the charts and the only comparison I can think of right now is early The Killers. These lads (and lady :o)produce British music to be proud of. Give ‘em a listen.

White Lies - Death

Next up is probably my favourite band of the moment. For some reason Elle Milano seem to rock my socks off. They’re pure artrocky goodness with a boatload of energetic tunes that you can’t help but dance around with your arms flailing to and just for good measure they do slower songs just as well. Their album Acres of Dead Space Cadets is pretty much one of the only albums I’ve ever bought (on pre-order at the moment) and the band I most want to see live. To compare them to any big, well known bands would be foolish because they don’t really sound like anyone I can think of, well no one decent anyway. Their songs are heavily cynical and offer views on the heavily clichéd pop-culture and shallow consumerist attitudes of the modern age (Yeah that sounded intelligent but it was really just reworded from Last.Fm).

The song provided is the album opener and the Doesn’t really matter if the money runs out... chorus section just sticks in your mind for hours. So sit back and put this bad boy on repeat until it’s time for bed.

Birth of a Giant

Okay so this being this the first post of many to come I should probably introduce myself. I should, but I don’t really want to. All I will say is that I’m 16 and from the UK and the point of this blog is really to broaden the musical horizons of anyone who particularly wants to be broadened. I aim to update the blog at least twice a week with a host of new bands and musical goings on but with GCSEs coming up shortly it may not always be so. Not that I study much anyway.

I’ll also try to produce a monthly mixtape with some of the hottest songs to grace my ears be them old or new. Oh and the name ‘CornerNoize’ is something thought up in about a minute so don’t try find a meaning behind it.
