7 days ago today, our son Daniel, 23, committed suicide. Whilst many people all over the world have already found out, I knew there would be some who were still unaware of the tragedy that had happened, so wanted to come on here and share.

Richard & I did not see this coming. Daniel was very much loved by SO many in the community and by us. He came to us on the previous Monday evening and started to pour out things that had been ‘bothering” him. Richard told him how proud he was of him for coming and telling his parents. Most importantly, we directed him to the Lord reassuring him that our God not only forgives, HE forgets! Daniel loved the Lord with ALL his heart but during the next 3 days, he could not forgive himself. We encouraged him, printed out scriptures for him at his request but he became paranoid that people could see through him. He was definitely under oppression from the enemy.

Last Friday morning, he told Richard he loved him before he left the camper and to not forget his phone code. (Daniel didn’t give his phone code to ANYONE but, the previous night, together they had set up Face ID on his phone so that Richard could access it as well as Daniel.) Daniel came to the store where I was, walked down the hallway, put his hand on my shoulder and told me that he loved me. Of course, I told him that I loved him also. A few minutes later I reminded him to pray the prayer that we have on the wall around the back of the store and encouraged him that he could do this – he could get through it. He knew from the previous evening’s conversation that I was leaving for a few minutes. I reassured him that I would only be gone for a few minutes and would be back before we opened. I left at 8:52am and got back around 9:26am. The rest, as they say, is history! I am just SO thankful that it was me that found him and not one of our staff who arrived about 2 minutes later!

Obviously, the store was closed on Friday. Part of us just wanted to close the store and be done BUT that is not what God wants! Richard and I made the hard decision to open on Saturday as normal. Facing those customers was HARD but such a blessing. Together we have cried, prayed, talked & laughed. SO many are in shock.

Wednesday found us at the funeral home picking out a casket. Today found us at the cemetery picking out the grave plot. Never did I ever think the following words for one of our kids would come out of my mouth – “I’m leaving now to go to the cemetery to pick out the plot”.

Throughout all this, whilst sad, Richard and I have had complete peace. Do we wish it hadn’t happened? Absolutely! That peace that passes all understanding really can be yours if you know Jesus as your Lord & Saviour. Whilst we do not condone suicide in any way and it was NOT Daniel’s time to go, we know that Daniel loved the Lord and we know that he is now in heaven with his Saviour. The Lord is giving us the strength to carry on. We are not going to give up. We are going to keep sharing Daniel’s story. We wouldn’t wish what we are going through on anyone BUT the joy of the Lord is our strength. What the devil meant for harm, God is going to turn for good.

Daniel’s Celebration of Life service will be on Sunday, March 29th, 2026 at 3pm at Faith & Wisdom Church in Branson. It will also be livestreamed via fwcbranson.com

If you wish to leave us a message, share your story about your interactions with Daniel etc. you can do so on the following link set up by the funeral home: https://www.cremationsoftheozarks.com/obituaries/Daniel-Charles-Pomeroy?obId=47777542

Thank you for reading,

Liz

Going in the middle of the week and at this time of year meant it was not crowded. The weather was just right, not too hot and not too cold.

When you arrive, (yes you do have to pay for parking) you go through the ticket area and then get on a bus (free) which takes you probably 1 to 2 miles to the actual Ark Encounter. Once there you can either walk through the rainbow arch or go into the main lobby area where the theater, restrooms, cafe, bookstore etc. are.

As with the Creation Museum, we found the campus to be extremely clean and well laid out. The ark is VERY impressive but we left it until last, preferring to explore the grounds and all the other exhibits first.

If you are an animal lover or if you have young children, you will LOVE the zoo area. Enjoy a good meal? Go to Emzara’s Kitchen for the buffet. Richard and I were pretty impressed with this as there were a lot of healthy options i.e. vegetables as well as the typical fried chicken, mashed potato etc. We all ate well

We enjoyed listening to TrueSong in the theater and the guys enjoyed the VR experience. (The VR is an extra charge.) I took a ride on the carousel From there we entered the ark. WOW! The thought and inspiration that went into this is INCREDIBLE! The attention to detail is extremely evident. No shoddiness here. Obviously, this ark is not exactly how the original ark would have looked inside as this one has theaters, shops, restrooms, ramps from floor to floor etc. HOWEVER if you take the time to visit and read all the info in all the exhibits you will get an education & grasp the size, work entailed, animals present etc. Answers in Genesis does an EXCELLENT job of presenting both opinions – evolution and creation – thus allowing the reader/visitor to make their own mind up. Saying that, AiG makes it very clear where they stand and the gospel is shared.

Highly recommend this to ALL, young and old. If you haven’t visited yet, put it on your bucket list and start making plans! Make sure you include the Creation Museum in your plans as well. Both are very different from each other.

Sorry, I don’t have more pictures to share but pics really wouldn’t do the exhibits justice. You need to go see it for yourself!

Liz

As you know, we are staying by the Ohio River. Yesterday afternoon we were here to see a barge heading downstream towards the dam, so we hopped in the truck and headed up to the lookout station. Here we spent a fascinating couple hours watching the barges.

As we got there, this barge was in the lock and the water was being taken out to allow it to be at the right level to go out the other side and continue on its journey. It was perfect timing on our part as then we waited for the water to rise again and this next barge to come through. The locks for these barges are WAY wider and bigger than the canal locks that are in England!

Richard did some research and calculations while we were standing there and figured this barge was carrying approximately the same weight as 4 x 100 train cars!

After the second barge was through, here comes a little pleasure boat. It just made us laugh as it looked SO minuscule compared to the massive barges!

Sunday afternoon, Caleb and I went for a “walk” along the driftwood. Caleb had already been out on it once and wanted me to come with him. I started to put my sandals on but thought better of it and put on my hiking boots. SO glad I did! Walking that driftwood was quite a balancing act as I figured out which ones would hold my weight. Whilst the water was not deep under it, I didn’t want to want to go in it and I was also looking for snakes that might suddenly appear. Caleb had already scared one that was sunning itself. (Yesterday, Caleb was out a little deeper and fell in when a snapping turtle raised its head out of the water at him, giving him quite the fright!)

Whilst good to be outside, I think I will keep my feet on the solid ground for the rest of the week Caleb has found a new collection of balls, baseball bat etc. all washed up on the river’s edge!

I LOVE that quiet time in the morning, reading my Bible, writing notes, getting my head ready for the day ahead. Due to me being up first, it is usually me that takes Hovis (scarlet macaw) for her first walk of the day.

This morning was no different. Hovis likes to get up around 8am so off we went for our walk. It had rained pretty hard last evening and there was still some cloud cover, along with mist in the river valley. As I walked past the camper for the first time, I was like “This would be a perfect opportunity to wax the rig, using nature’s rain to help me.” Many campgrounds do not allow you to wash your rigs and I fully understand that. I had NO desire to wash it but there were enough water droplets on it for me to utilize. SO, after our walk was over, I grabbed the wax, cloths and cleaning pole and went to work. (We use Aero Cosmetics Wet or Waterless Car Wax. It is BRILLIANT & easy to use!)

I do NOT do high temps so this morning was just right. The rain had done us a huge favor and washed all the pollen off so all I had to do was polish and dry. Took me about an hour but it was still cool on the shady side of the rig. The bugs had died by the “masses” on the front as we had driven along. I wasn’t able to reach them all but at least it looks better.

Why am I telling you all this? Those of you who are full-time RVers, take pride in your rig. Even if you only pull your rig out twice a year, you need to do this! If you wax it frequently it will not only look better, it will last longer for you. Happy camping! It’s a GREAT life! I even got to see another barge coming up the river. Their size never ceases to amaze me.

Liz

Richard, Caleb & I are back on the road again both working and relaxing. We wanted to meet some new business contacts which has been very helpful. At this time, we are parked right next to the Ohio River in northern Kentucky. Whilst the weather has been VERY wet back in Branson, we have been blessed with beautiful weather – not too hot and not too cold.

Today we met friends at the Creation Museum that we had not seen in 11 years! What a surprise to also see a young man from our days in Montana! A truly fun and special day catching up. The museum is VERY well done and worth a visit.

After not traveling much since COVID broke out, we made the determination to get away more this year. Business can be VERY stressful at times and has a tendency to suck time. Whilst I have been much better this year at staying home a couple days a week, it has taken a LOT of discipline on my part & makes the days I am there longer. Richard also gets pulled in multiple directions when we are back in Branson, so this time away is good for him also as he is able to focus on some projects that need to be done.

We had the privilege of visiting Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby Museum. That was truly fascinating. The museum is exceptionally well done and if you take the free tour, you will learn even more. Of course it is the 150th anniversary of the Kentucky Derby coming up this next weekend, so the place is hopping with activity as staff prepare for the huge influx of people. The numbers are quite staggering.

The Big Four Bridge that spans over the Ohio River from Kentucky to Indiana is a GREAT walk. A dealer up there told us there that there was a problem with the transmission. Totally incredible that the truck took us all the way there & back pulling our rig without one complaint or issue. We took it to Corwin, our Springfield dealer, a week ago last Monday. By the Tuesday, they had it stripped down and were working on getting the transmission rebuilt! Unknown to us it also had a major oil leak on the front of the engine!

We picked the truck up today! Yes, they did it that quick! It was actually ready on Wednesday but we couldn’t go up until today. (The dealer in Ohio had told us it could take 6 months!) The service manager told us that we essentially had a brand new truck as the transmission was completely rebuilt, all that is the original is the casing! Not only that, all the gaskets on the front of the engine have been replaced! Our cost? Very little, thanks to it still being under warranty. We just had to pay for a gear box filter and the fuel filters which were due for replacement after our trip. Totally INCREDIBLE! If you are looking for a reliable & honest dealer, go to Corwin! We have purchased our last 2 vehicles from them and they have always done us right.

Now, to my new man! Hee! Richard is doing really well after having his mitral valve “rebuilt” 4 weeks ago. His nerves have been coming back to life this week so he has been in quite a bit of pain but it is getting better each day! On our way to get the truck this morning, we stopped to get him a new stetson. He had one years ago but it was time for a new one. As we are out walking more, keeping the sun off our heads is important.

Hope you have a fantastic weekend,

Liz
