So, here’s my one and only “please sponsor the site” post. In reality this is aimed at networks, agencies, OPM’s, merchants and tech solutions, but individuals are welcomed to read on…

I’m looking to secure 5-10 long term sponsors to do what I want to do with CostPerNews (and to provide a monthly budget to pay the additional bloggers and afford the new design from the fine folks at ContentRobot).

Clickbooth has signed on for the rest of the year in the 728×90 header position (thanks, Clickbooth!) but everything else is up for grabs in terms of ad real estate.

Ideally, I’d like to have 2-4 advertisers in 300×250’s and the rest in 125×125’s or something similar (theme is still being worked out, so I’m flexible) and have a long term relationship with everyone.

I’ll also do a sponsor thanks on the daily AffiliateFortuneCookies podcast which gets around 300-500 listens for each show on average (and rising).

Twitter has taken another step to finally put down the great FailWhale of ‘08 by acquiring the real time search service Summize:

Since Twitter’s track functionality has been down, I’ve been a heavy user of Summize (and recommend you do the same through the new search.twitter.com interface).

For the last year or so, I’ve treated this as a personal blog rather than something like a “business blog” or more reliable source of news and opinions than just my ramblings.

However, I’m changing the feel of CostPerNews into a site based more on opinion and analysis of news and developments in that weird bridge that exists between online marketing and social media. That has always been the focus here, but I’m going to be putting a shinier veneer on things.

The site will have new theme to reflect that renewed and more professional attitude and I’m also going to be bringing on a couple of other bloggers to help widen the viewpoints presented here (although it will still be the “Sam Harrelson show”).

I’m also going to be connecting CPN more closely with the daily podcast that I do as well as bringing in more video (who doesn’t like video?).

And finally, I hope to add a few new sponsors to the site in order to move into a more full time “blogger” position. That sounds crazy, but I love the idea of doing this as a full time venture rather than just haphazardly on the side. In my opinion, our space needs something of this sort, so I hope to be able to fill that whole in some way.

How is Kwippy different from Twitter? You can find out more at their blog here. I don’t think it’s a “Twitter Killer” but I’m willing to give anything a chance at this point. Clearly, there’s a need for a Twitter-like service that has constant uptime and widespread adoption. Whoever figures out those two variables will be the next web giant.
