Playa Garza beach is really close to Playa Guiones also known as Nosara. Playa Garza is a little fishing community which if you are coming from Nicoya you would dive by on your way over to Nosara Surf Central.

Playa garza is a nice little bay which is not very seldom to find good surf, but you can get fishing boats and tours from there.

Nosara video, Guanacaste - Costa Rica

Nosara is a little surfing paradise located in the northwest of Costa Rica, here is a little video mix about Nosara, most of this was shot on the beach which is actually called Guiones.

If you ever go to Nosara, don’t forget to say hi to the locals, they all are very nice and most of them will share the waves with you.

Nosara Surfboard Repair

Nosara is a very nice beach for surfing, and there are plenty of options available for renting a board, my friend mike broke his board fin who knows how, but I guess he didn’t’ knew it was broken for a while while he was out in the water.

This is mike surfboard with the broken fin, luckily for him this type of fin is very easy to replace so we headed down to visit the 2 main surf shops in town and see where we could get his board fixed, all we needed was a new fin.

Mike Doyle showing off his broken fin, I told him he was probably going too fast on the wave and the fin was not able to hold his speed.

On our way to the surf shops we saw a sing for Nosara Tico Surf School, but we didn’t see much merchandise, so we decided to pass and head directly to the bigger place called Nosara Surf Shop and see what kind of deal we could get.

We set the board down at the Nosara Surf shop, get the broken fin out and try to find a new fin that would be the same fit for the board.

Inside the Nosara Surf shop I was surprise to see this surf guide book by Jonathan Yonkers Chavarria from Tamarindo Costa Rica.

We found some fins but decided to check out the other surf shop and see what kind of price we could get for a new fin set.

The other big surf shop in town is Coconut Harry’s Surf Shop, they have a lot of board rentals, surf lesson and gear as well

The surf shop has a nice dog pet called Jake, he is a friendly surf ambassador of the area, but I’ve never seem him surf, he mostly hangs around the surf shop and my guess is the surf shop owner’s best friend.

We found the find we were looking for and fixed Mike’s board, now we are set and ready for more of Nosara’s tasty (and apparently fin crushing) waves.

On a side note, both surf shops will also fix surfboard ding with fiber glass if you need to. I know because they have fixed my board in the past.

Surfing Barrigona beach

Barrigona beach is a “secret” beach located not too far from Samara beach, is not so secret beach since all the local know that that is where the famous actor Mel Gibson has some property down there, usually there is no very good surf in this beach and the waves are very powerful however once in a blue blue moon, there is amazing surf in this beach which is a handful of days each year, yet a few locals and tourist venture out to this secluded and hard to get to beach in order to get away from it all, here are a few pictures from Barrigona beach also known as Mel’s beach.

Playa Grande beach – Costa Rica

Playa Grande Costa Rica is right next to Playa Tamarindo in costa Rica, in fact is actually the same beach, the but is so big that the only thing that divides them is the tamarindo river mouth.

Playa Grande is located North of Tamarindo, and and is less developed than Tamarindo because government laws establish the place as a national wildlife refugee for turtles.

Paseo del Sol – Nosara, Costa Rica

So I was checking the other day a web site called “Tico Style” (www.ticostyle.com) mainly because it has almost the same name as this website, every body knows that tico is short for Costa Rican, anyway the site is for a web design company which I guess is based out of Costa Rica, while checking their portfolio I came across a website called Nosara Builders (www.nosarabuilders.com) and found out they build some houses in Nosara, specifically in a small community called “Paseo del Sol” which in English would be something like “trip to the sun” anyway I really like this community and the way nosara builders build the houses, simple practical and not much too it, but very nice outside and just what you need on the inside.
