The author proposes a view - in according with Abraham, Ferenczi and, more recently, Resnik - of the town as a dimension of the space that has to be saved against dangerous experiences, but also as an occasion to explore and experiment the space outside the body. Our metropolis are instead places where the experience of the space has been suppressed and the space itself felt as a trouble to solve as soon as possible through fast main roads. We can therefore see mind situations where home is a retrait/burrow and outside is the place where hic sunt leones and the policemen only could clean up.

The author, mayor of a city that have the duty to reconvert the biggest area in Europe, says that city administration, when engaged in a so heavy trouble, must consider the city history and, on the other hand, confide the people and administration be able to front a task seen as difficult and almost impossible. The same thing was when, at the beginning of the past century and the industrialization, when the factories were threatened by Nazis and when, after second world war, the city was to rebuild.

The authoress emphasizes how the transition of Sesto San Giovanni, a small village near Milan at the beginning of the past century and an important industrial centre forty years later, had been accompanied by cultural changes and how these ones had marked not only the urbanistic outline. The memory of these transformations is today as one of the most important keys to save the identity of the city and his people when large spaces resulting from the industrial closing down happened in the last two decades.

The nature of the city and its processes of formation from past to present are a primary expression of our species, human, belonging to a dispute between the community and the affirmation of their individual character. The beauty and goodness, justice and security, freedom and harmony must every time negotiate, about the meaning, the specific formalization, the horizon of sharable. It seems to be clear that nothing is common in urban field, as main sector the human field, outside of a principle of relatedness. In this horizon of meaning, the idea of tradition as an encyclopedia within finding a grammar or rewriting the translation of new terms of the ecological city, the urban landscape and sustainability of housing, is the basis of the joint project, the project of an architecture of relationships.

Sesto San Giovanni was considered and still is, a fortress of the Italian left. Since the beginning of the past century its working class has had a tradition of fights for trade Union rights first, the Resistence to the Fascist Regime, until the striks of the so called Autunno Caldo in 1969. The essay shows how at the beginning of the '70, in Sesto, were born radical minorities that chose the armed fight. Walter Alasia, a young student in Sesto, from a working class family, was one of the young protagonist of this movement. His life and death is here considered as a metaphor of the armed movement in Italy and of the reasons why a minorities of young people made such a choice.

The paper starts with the assumption that the city is like polyphonic music, a tale which is being continuously elaborated both diachronically and synchronically. From this assumption, some circumstances are analyzed where urban studies might no longer be able to warrant the interaction between the members of the community and the scenario in which they live. Through Heidegger’s perspective of dwelling (bauen) and Ingold’s ideas of "dwelling perspective", this article explores how a city elaborates its memory of the past and imagines its future. The interview explores a possible parallel between psychoanalysis and urban studies/town planning. Both of these are non-linear and non-mathematical sciences, which usually deal with a range of conflicts. However, they are also conscious of not being able to eliminate or resolve these conflicts definitively or permanently. By examining the interactions between the world of the political, economic and technical operators and the local community, areas not often explored are delineated from which new forms of active participation are developed. In this way citizens can move from a sort of urban unconsciousness to a position from which they can rethink the their own way of inhabiting space and discovering new facets of the city and new aspects of their own wishes.

The Author studies the shadows zone of meaning that eludes the mind and finds expression in the artwork. That perspective starts from the Freudian "Uncanny" ("Unheimliche") and come to the "Self-state untraslatable into the symbolic order" of Bollas and to "Thing" of Lacan. The Author introduces the concept of "B residues" as "B elements" not completely elaborated but not even expelled, and they are still under a partial and incomplete elaboration, and they wonder into the mind as dark nucleuses of meaning, as logical and emotional shadow zone which stays one step before the thought and the symbolization. In this perspective the art is an expression of the "not-yet-thinkable" and of the shadows zone of the mind.

Money continues to be an appealing topic and many studies have been focused on it. In his book “Il mito del denaro”, Claudio Widmann, a junghian psychoanalyst, analyzes the symbolic nature and force of money, exploring also its meanings. Following the pluralistic perspective supported by John Dupré, I have tried to produce a cultural exchange between Widmann‟s point of view and a pedagogical interpretation, showing material conditions which contribute to build money‟s symbology.
