while everyone has been thinking about the weather in the UK I've been over in Europe. Although we had an average start to the season the last few days have been amazing.
Yesterday saw me skiing waist deep super fluffy Powder from the Mid Station on the Aig Du Midi Lift. It was some of the best powder I've ever skiied.
The ice is at last firming up as well, with teams at large in the Cogne valley with most reporting good conditions.
More snow and low temps forecast so the skiing and cli...

I'm back at home after one of the best weeks I have had in ages. I really can't say enough how totally amazing Kalynmos was, its such a good venue for rock climbers of any grade!
The one thing which is a bit of a pain is the travel there and back. I had a rather nasty 7.5hr layover in Athens airport yesterday and if anyone has been there then you know how boring it is there! I'm already thinking of booking next years trip there.
So whats next for me now that I'm back home.&nb...

The small Greek island of Kalaymnos has been on my must go soon list for years and I'm finally here. Things were a little hectic after finishing my series of in store talks Cotwold but I made a stupidly early flight the next day and ended up 11 hrs later here. and whats it like.......simply put its STUNNING.
The climbing covers all sorts of grades from French 3 up to 9b and they all seem to be amazing routes. All are well bolted so there is no stress there while the situtaion is lovely, m...

This appeared in a recent trail magazine but i thought I would share with you all here as well.
One of the walks that I would seriously love to do again (remember I don’t spend too much time in the UK now) is up in the Fannachs in the NW of Scotland.

My story started with what was the first complete ascent of Skyscraper Buttress Direct a hard winter route on Sgurr Na Clach Geala way back in the winter of 95/96. It was m...

Preston ROCKED!!! It was a great evening, crowd and staff were totally amazing. The drive home wasn't quite so good with all those road works on the M6.
The first 2 talks of the Cotswold series were fantastic and I for one can't wait for the ones next week.
After that I have a week in Kalaynmos rock climbing which I was hoping to be fit for, but due to a really busy period I have not touched rock for weeks so I'm really really cross with myself. The trip will still be great fun though.
So nex...

PHEW. I'm sure that as you get older Jet Lag becomes worse, I've just stumbled through the door after an epic trip back from Denver. It was around -6 in Eldorado canyon yesterday morning...(or was it this morning) when I walked through the Canyon with Jazz and my old mate Bruce who lives in Boulder. It was far too cold to climb, in fact there were streaks of ice forming on parts of the crag but it was still nice to go and look at the wonderful rock there and to remember the fun times I've had th...

Its a beautiful day here in Vail, the sun is out and the snow has burnt off. I can't quite work out if I should go for a run of a bike ride...I don't have a bike here but thinking it should be easy to hire. I'd like to hit some rock somewhere but all my kit is in the UK apart form boots and chalk bag.
Later tonight its round 2 of the Bo Parfet wedding. Its a 4 day affair, last night was cocktail, today is golf (I don't play) and then drinks with a dress code of Cowboy Chic....pretty cool I reck...

Well I woke up in Vail Colorado this morning after a toatlly epic trip here. The flight over wasn't too bad but as ever it was long we arrived about 3am UK time and then I was faced with almost 3hrs driving to Vail. It should be quicker but there was driving snow over the passes and I got stop by the feds!!!.
I'm staying in an amazing Condo that belongs to a clinet/friend of mine and its stunning.
The Temps here have dropped the last week of so and its pretty damn cold in fact there is a very ...

Climbing and mountaineering mean different things to different people. Yet both activities offer a way of exploring a wilderness environment, often well off the beaten track in terrain and conditions that can challenge and push you to your limits.
Gaining the skills to cope with these challenging situations comes with practice, along with a well-served apprenticeship on easier ground. Inevitably you’ll throw one or two hard-earned lessons into the mix – the ones where realise you ma...

Yesterday (Sunday) afternoon was spent in and around the Tower Bridge area of London at the Rat Race. This two day event which is aimed at generating huge amounts of fun in an urban area was the last in the UK series this year and the whole series went off with a bang. The race was made up of running, biking, kayaking, clue solving, abseiling and many more.I was with Jim who came up with the whole concept and Andy from Adventure Base for the afternoon and we spent a fun few hours watching some of...
