Fall Festival, Pine Tree Ridge, Show and Tell

Hi there...Long time no see! I've been waiting to post so that I could include the Fall Festival quilt by Jan Patek. This is a quilt a long with Lori of Humble Quilts. Our homework for this month was to finish the blocks and flying geese on the inner portion of the quilt.

Here's mine.

But then, I was in the mood to put the whole quilt together, so....voila! I'm finished.

It's a really big quilt (82x92) but I have a wall to hang it on, so I'm looking forward to getting it quilted and ready for Fall hanging.

I'm not sure if you remember, but Sandy and I also had another quilt a long going on.

This one is Pine Tree Ridge by Jan Patek. Sandy finished hers a couple of months ago.

To refresh your memory, this is hers.

And I finally finished mine...

Now on to April's show and tell. The first three are all Sandy's.

Next up is this darling quilt called "Shoofly Delight" by Catherine Hughes.

And this one is called "Buried Treasure" by April Rosenthal. This pattern is from

American Patchwork and Quilting magazine, April 2015

A couple of years ago I picked up a Frivol little quilt kit by Moda.

(or as a friend calls it, "quilt in a can")

This one is by Minick and Simpson. All ready for summer.

I had been wanting to work on this bunny from Buttermilk Basin called "Primitive Peter",

so luckily, I got it finished in time for Easter.

Fall Festival

If you've been following my blog or Lori's Humble Quilts blog, you know that she organized a group quilt-a-long doing Jan Patek's quilt, "Fall Festival.

Our homework this month was 3 more blocks and start working on the flying geese that are scattered throughout the quilt. I got my blocks finished, but haven't started on the geese because I haven't picked the fabric for my sashing.

I'm doing all the applique blocks using wool on cotton.

Here's what we did this month.

At the rate we're going, we will be finished in no time and this is a very large quilt.

It will be fun to have it finished in time to hang this Fall.

Pine Tree Ridge

If you have been following my blog, you know that, since January, Sandy and I started working on Jan Patek's Block of the Month called "Pine Tree Ridge" Our plan was to do a block each month, but we were both enjoying it so much that, independently of one another, we worked ahead. So, last month, I showed you that we were almost half finished.

We are both using fabrics from our stash, so its fun to see how different they are.

This month, I'm reversing the order of our finished blocks. Mine will be first and Sandy's second.

Here are the 4 blocks that I finished.

And here is Sandy's FINISHED quilt.

Now the pressure is on me to get mine finished next month.

Looks like we are going to have to find another project to work on together!

March show and tell

Surprise...I'm on time this month!

Funny thing about Woolies yesterday. Sandy and I were the only ones there. Lots of people out of town or busy with other things, so we had show and tell for each other. We had fun, even if it was just the two of us.

Sandy has been working on big projects so she only brought a couple of projects that she finished.

First up is a darling pattern called "Old Wood Hare" by Cheri. Sandy did this one in wool on a cotton background.

This next little one is from Little Thistle Designs called "Penny Patch Rabbit"

It is so cute and little. Only measures 8x10". (Sorry, I couldn't find a website)

Next up are my finished projects.

When I saw Sandy working on that little cutie I knew I wanted one too,

so here's mine.

When showed Sandy that I added a button eye for the little bunny, she said that hers is looking backward, therefore, no eye! LOL

This pillow is from a Wooden Spool Designs pattern called "Chubby Bunny".

He makes me smile when I look at him.

Don't those carrot flowers remind you of the popsicles we got when we were little with the tube pushing the ice cream up? Ahhh, sweet memories.

Last year Cheri offered this next one as a freebie on her Facebook group.

I finished the top but never did anything with it. I had some time last week, so made a pillow.

Now I'm all ready for summer. (which can't get here fast enough)!

A cute table runner from Woolen Needle Designs called "Bunny in the Meadow.

And, as I mentioned last month, I'm working on the monthly series of patterns

from Buttermilk Basin called "With Cotton and Wool BOM.

I needed to get caught up on them, so this one is February.

and April.

February Show and Tell

Now that the snow is slowly melting, we find that getting together with our groups of girlfriends is extremely important. Woolies on Tuesday was back to normal and a fun gathering. Lots to show.

First up is Mari's beautiful quilt from Geoff's Mom Pattern Co. Wow, that's a lot of work!!!

The next ones are all from our prolific Sandy!

This is her version of Buttermilk Basin's Mystery Quilt from 2016.

Don't you just love how she finished it? So clever.

This is one that she did from a sew a long with Cheri on Cheri's Facebook Page.

Another Cheri pattern called "Bless your Heart"

This one is from a pattern by JoAnn Mullaly. Sandy must have made multiples because I was the lucky recipient of one for Christmas. Thanks, Sandy!

Cute pillow from Wooden Spool Designs called "Follow your Heart".

And another darling pillow from Briar Root Primitives called "The Good Heart".

You can find the pattern in the Winter 2016 magazine, "Simply Vintage".

And last, but not least, is a cute bunny from Buttermilk Basin called "Primitive Peter".

Sandy made hers 50% smaller than the original to put in a cute display. If you follow her on instagram you can see all of her beautiful decorating. She's @sfeigner.

Next up are mine. Lately I've been wanting to do some cross stitch. Getting back to the old days. Only problem is that my eyes aren't like the old days. Yikes those holes are small. I'm wearing "Mag Eyes" and really look rather ridiculous. Oh well, it gets the job done.

This pattern is called "Valentine Bird" by Heart in Hand.

Little pillows are from Primitive Stitches pattern "4-Ever Valentine Mini Collection".

This is a cute little wall hanging called "Generous and Content" by Cheri.

And pillows by Cheri called "Valentine Bowl Fillers".

This is a cute little pillow that I made for a friend from Buttermilk Basin called "Simply Words BOM-May". I filled it with crushed walnuts and made it into a pin cushion.

I was helping Karen with some samples that she's putting in her Etsy shop. I loved how this one turned out so made myself one too! She will be offering kits soon so check it out.

Pattern is by Red Button Quilt Co, called "Midnight Blooms".

And if you've been following along with all the show and tell over the months, you know that I've been working on a 12 month series of little quilts from Indygo Junction. Finally, this is the last one! It's called "June". I'm so glad to finally have them all finished! Woo Hoo.

And since I finished up that 12 month series, why not start another one?

(Am I nuts? Don't answer that!)

These are by Buttermilk Basin and called "With Cotton and Wool BOM-January"

The little quilt is made separately and so darn cute!

So another month has come and gone with show and tell. Hope you are enjoying all the fun projects.

Our snow is almost all melted and we are in countdown for Spring to begin. Although, Spring in Central Oregon is quite iffy. Sun one day, snow the next. At least we can get around now though.

Pine Tree Ridge

Sandy and I are working on another Jan Patek quilt as a sew-a-long. We aren't setting deadlines, just working on it when we want to. Both of us are loving this quilt which makes it easy to keep moving forward.

I know I posted my pictures from last month, but will show them again along with Sandy's. (Also, my lighting was really off).

Showing hers first and mine second.

I forgot to take a picture of my church. Oops...

Those are my birds. Sandy wasn't quite finished with hers.

And this is the progress so far. Sure am loving this one. I'm glad that we aren't sticking to the 12 month block of the month schedule. We might have this finished before summer. Wow...what a concept! (I better not get too cocky tho, because you never know what life will deal you. We were both in our sewing rooms a lot because of all the snow we had).

Fall Festival #2

Continuing on with the quilt-a-long that Lori at Humble Quilts organized, here are the blocks that she gave us for homework in February. To refresh your memory, the pattern is by Jan Patek. I'm doing my applique in wool with cotton backgrounds.

These pieced stars aren't the easiest to work with. I finally had to draw my own paper piecing pattern in order to get the correct seam allowance. Grrrr

So that's it for this month. Can't wait to see what our homework is for March! We are really moving right along.

Catching up

Hi there, It's been awhile. Thanks to all of you who emailed me to make sure things were okay. I guess I took a little break. It wasn't planned, but maybe needed. I'm going to try to get back to a regular blogging schedule and it will help that I've joined Lori's quilt-a-long.

We are doing Jan Patek's "Fall Festival" Block of the Month. It's a fun quilt with lots of different types of blocks.

This month we are showing the pumpkin block and the crescent moons. I took a picture last night when the lighting was terrrible. Good lesson. I'll do better next month.

I took this next one before I had stitched it but wanted to show you

because the colors are much more true.

Sandy and I are doing a little quilt-a-long of our own using Jan Patek's "Pine Tree Ridge"pattern.

Again....bad picture taken in bad lighting!

If you've been following me on Instagram, you know how much snow we've had here in Central Oregon. Record breaking snows! (And...more on the way tomorrow)!

Mr CnW is 6' tall, and so is that berm.

There was so much snow that our street was down to one lane.

This is the view from my nest. It never gets old!

Now, to catch you up on our show and tell at Woolies. These pictures are from our November gathering. I can't remember the names of the quilts but maybe the makers of the projects can fill you in if you ask in the comments section.

Linda E also made this table topper by Kim Diehl.

Linda H showed us how she uses punch needle when she wants a fluffy look.

Barb shared this quilt with us. Her daughter wanted the binding mended.

It was Barb's very first quilt.

But she knew enough to add a label.

We didn't have show and tell in December and completely forgot about January. Next up will be February, I promise. I did quite a bit of projects during the holidays but they were all gifts and I forgot to take pictures. Yikes. what's happening to me? LOL

October Show and tell

It's November! Can you believe it? We are having unseasonably warm weather here in Central Oregon. No snow yet. I think this is the latest it's been since we moved here 14 years ago. I'm okay with that although I do love watching it fall and making everything look so clean and pretty. There's lots on the mountains tho, so I can look out my window and see how gorgeous they are.

Sandy and I were the only ones who had show and tell in October and I didn't have much at all. We were travelling quite a bit and once we got back, I kind of lost my mojo for awhile.

So, here we go. First are the projects that Sandy accomplished in October.

I took these pictures at our Woolies gathering. If you are on Instagram and want to see how she has them displayed in her home, she's @sfeigner. She has a real knack for decorating.

This pattern is an old one by Blackbird Designs called Midnight Silhouette. The pattern had been out of print, but the wonderful Blackbird ladies have brought it out of retirement. I read that The Quilted Moose has them in stock.

Here's a kit that we got from Buttermilk Basin.

Sandy reduced the pattern by 25% in order for the towel to fit on an old tote that she has.

(She also cut an inch or so off the sides of the towel

I can't remember who the designer is for this darling snowman.

Sandy, can you help us out?

The witch is from a pattern by Country Threads called Witches.

It's actually a quilt pattern but she just made one block.

And...it's NOT paper pieced. Those are some pretty small pieces.

This wonderful pumpkin was inspired by a post she saw on Instagram and

whipped it out without a pattern. Smarty pants!

Here are mine....

Looks like white pumpkins are "in" this year.

This is a pattern by Plays with Wool Designs called The Great Pumpkin.

There were a lot of berries to stitch on this one.

Needless to say, by the end of making it, I was really sick of berries!

Aren't you loving the little pillows for bowl fillers that you're seeing on blogs and Instagram?

These are from a pattern by Wooden Spool Designs called Happy Halloween.

They are actually blocks in a quilt but they are small enough to make into little pillows.

I finally got this one back from the quilter.

It's a design by Norma at Timeless Traditions called At Home in the Garden.

I'm looking forward to putting it up after the holidays are over.

And here's my version of Stacy's Fall Towel.

I'm making some Christmas gifts so I probably won't have much to show you for November show and tell. I'm sure that the other gals in the group will fill in!

September show and tell - Part 2

These are all mine. Remember, this is 2 months worth. (wink)

This quilt by Geoff's Mom called "In the Meadow" is one that I did as a Block of the Month from my local quilt shop. It was a UFO, so I got it all finished up this year and off to the quilter. Now it's a ready for Christmas decorating.

Another quilt by Quilts by Cheri. called "Pumpkin Patch"

This was a kit that I got a couple of years ago called "Country 9 Patch"

by My Red Door Designs.

I made this scarecrow from a pattern called "Cooper"

by Homespun from the Heart. It was an e-pattern that I found on etsy.

I really love these wall hangings for outside on my entryway.

This one is called "Trick or Treat" from Cottage Creek Quilts.

A quick and easy wool project from My Red Door Designs,

called " Harvest Time"

This next little one is called "Autumn Fest" by Chestnut Junction.

(Sandy made me the little scarecrow on the masher - cute, huh?)

I also made "Hocus the Halloween Cat" by Briar Root Primitives.

I thought my kitty (Jack) might become friends with Hocus, but no such luck!

And my Sept Indygo Junction block. Still have 2 left to do.

I'm almost finished with a year of these darling little hanging quilts

and November

This is another e-pattern that I found on Etsy.

I can't find the pattern right now to give you the name.

It's a fun way to play with those old mattress springs you're seeing in all the antique stores.

Another wonderful design by Cheri called "Liberty Baskets"

I don't have much in the way of patriotic quilts, and loved this one when I saw the pattern.

Last but not least, another pattern from My Red Door Designs

called "Pumpkin Harvest". I picked up the frame at a craft store.

Well, that's it. I'm so glad to be caught up.

October looks to be a very busy month for me, so I'm not sure how much I'm going to get accomplished but I'm sure the other gals at Woolies will have lots to share this month.

September show and tell

I know, I know...I'm late. This time I have a really good excuse tho. My computer caught a virus and had to go see the Dr for 3 days. Then I had to get all the pictures loaded onto the computer and edited. Since there wasn't much show and tell last month, there are quite a few pictures this time. I think I'm going to break it up into two separate posts.

Before I begin, I wanted to let those of you who don't know, about a little Fall Decorating Tour I'm participating in on Instagram. If you want to see some fun pictures that Karen, Sandy, Patty, Tammy and I are sharing, then follow one of us on Instagram and that one will link you to the others. I'm @cottonsnwool, Karen is @yellowfarmhouse, Sandy is @sfeigner, Patty is @myrty50 and Tammy is @basketnut1. On Sept 23, we started showing our houses all decorated for fall and will continue every evening until Oct 11th. Then we'll take a break for a couple of weeks and come back at the end of Oct with some Halloween decorating. Hope to see you on Instagram.

A couple of winners!

Hey everyone. Thank so much for all your descriptions of how you store your patterns. I think I found myself in every one of your answers. I have way too many storage spots. Here are some pictures to prove it.

I found this cute little drawer at an antique shop and knew it needed patterns in it. There's another one to the right of it, and of course, all the patterns printed off the internet on the left.

This box of patterns is on my cutting table along with some that I'm currently working on.

And then in one bookcase, there are binders of patterns.

Another smaller bookcase. With. More. Patterns.!

And in my closet I have these plastic bins with more patterns.

And in the storage room right off my sewing room, even MORE!

And binders too. Not even labeled, so who knows what's in them!

So, I think you can see my dilemma. Right now, I've decided to organize them by season. Here is the first bin which has my Fall patterns. Somehow I have to get this under control Good grief!

So, as I promised, we have 2 winners. The first one is Tina, who posted on Sept 1 at 6:30pm. The second winner comes from my emails. I was surprised at how many of you replied directly there letting me know you aren't Google subscribers. So I thought it only fitting that you were entered in the giveaway too. That winner is Barb. August show and tell

First of all, I want to thank all of you who left me some really wonderful comments last month. To tell you I appreciated them would be an understatement. I just wasn't sure if people are even reading blogs much anymore. I know I am not as diligent about keeping up as I used to be. Anyway, thank you so much and I promise to continue blogging...at least with show and tell.

So, here we go for August. We had company last week so didn't think I'd be going to Woolies, but at the last minute the family's plans changed and I was able to go. Needless to say, I was rushing to get there and forgot my own show and tell, so will save that for next month.

Leslie made this little cutie. Once again, she's hiding behind her creation. I'm gonna sneak a picture of her sometime when she's not looking. LOL

Nancy made this from a pattern by Bonnie Sullivan of All through the Night.

Her kitty's name is Magic.

Sue brought this one but she couldn't remember the pattern name.

Jean continues with these blocks.

Mari made this one.

She thinks it's a Kim Diehl pattern but couldn't remember the name.

And this one was inspired by a Kansas Troubles pattern.

If you're on Instagram, you can identify with me on this...There is so much inspiration out there from so many talented people. Around Memorial Day, people started posting pictures of all their wonderful Americana decor. It was then I realized that I only had one red, white and blue quilt. That had to change! LOL So, I was looking through my books and came upon this pattern by Paula Stoddard from the book Season's Stitchin's. The pattern is called "Summer Fun". I got it finished just in time to enjoy it for the rest of the summer.

The little firecrackers were a project that Sandy I made at her house last month

on one of our "craft" days.

This is "America Stitched Flag" by Buttermilk Basin.

(can you tell I'm trying to play catch up with the Americana decor?)

And last, another Buttermilk Basin design called "Summer Wool Runner".

The pattern cover shows the background in black wool, but I thought it needed a lighter look.

June and July show and tell

Our gathering in July was pretty small. Summertime is always like that here. People entertaining or going on trips, makes for much smaller groups. We did manage to have some show and tell though.

First up is Nancy. She applique'd these adorable T-shirts for her grandkids who will be coming to visit soon.

Sew Many Quilts

If you're looking forward to seeing the show and tell posts, then I have to say, "Sorry". There won't be any for June. All of the quilt shops in the area have been getting their stores in ship shape condition for all the quilters who will be coming this week for the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. The classrooms are transformed into more quilt goodness, so we don't usually meet the end of June and all of July.

I promise to get lots of pictures of our show and tell projects to share with you when we meet next time. (not sure when that will be).

In the meantime, I went into Sew Many Quilts in Bend to share all the new goodies with you. I will be working there Tuesday thru Saturday, so if you're in the area, come in and say "hi".

This post will be picture heavy, but if there's anything you are interested in, give them a call.

Since today is Independence Day in the USA, I thought I'd start with these two.

Nothing like waiting till the very last minute to get the May show and tell projects up on the blog.

I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. It feels good to know this is the unofficial start to the summer season. Our town will begin to see throngs of vacationers who will increase our summer population by as much as 20,000. It's great for the economy, but not so great for traffic and restaurant reservations! But, I guess it's what you live with when you're in a vacation destination community. For those of you who are new to the blog, I live in Central Oregon in the wonderful town of Bend.

On to the show.

Nancy finished two projects. The first one a monthly by Buttermilk Basin. If it doesn't look like one you've seen before it's because Nancy always puts her "spin" on patterns. Cute, huh?

She made this quilt for friends who have a black leather sofa. Won't it look pretty? Sorry, I don't have the pattern name.

Linda continues making blocks for her Halloween quilt by Buttermilk Basin.

Looks like Leslie is a bit camera shy, but she sure has a cute haircut. LOL

Again, I don't have the name of the pattern for her patriotic pillow, but she finished it just in time for the summer season.

This one is a variation of the Row by Row runner from Sewing Seeds Quilt Shop in New Ulm, MN. After she saw mine, she ordered the kit and did her own thing.

Lori T is new to our Woolies group and she started her journey using Sue Spargo's stitches book. What a great way to learn new stitches.

It's a needle holder!

Jean is also new to the Woolies group and check out her first projects. I'd say she's got the wool talent for sure. She's finished these 4 blocks in no time at all.

They are all out of this book.

Sue is a huge contributor to the Quilts of Valor program. These are her two latest finishes.

Sandy managed to whip up a few finishes (again) this month. First up is "Liberty Baskets" by Quilts by Cheri. It's on my to do list and after seeing hers...it's moved up to the top of the list.

This little mat is an original by Sandy. She made 3 of them. One for me, one for Karen, and one for herself. Nice to have talented friends, huh? (She also included the house and candle in the gift). Thank you Sandy.

This wonderful quilt is called "Saltbox Sampler" by Under the Garden Moon. I'm also working on this one but still have the borders to finish. Love it.

This little one was a kit she bought at Something to Crow About quilt shop in Springfield, OR.

And her last finish in May is the Indygo Junction monthly from the Folk Quilt of the Month series. It's the one for November.

I'm also working on the monthlies and I managed to finish up January

And Dec.

This next little one is #5 in the Kindred Spirits Club from the ladies at Yellowcreek Quilt Designs. I've really enjoyed making these small quilts. When I get them all finished, I'll take a picture of all of them together so you can see how fun they are.

When I was in California a couple of years ago, we went to Country Loft quilt shop (which is closing soon. Boo Hoo). I picked up the pattern for this stitchery quilt by JoAnn Mullaly called "Joy of Christmas"

And last, but not least, here is another little "Sew Simple BOM" from Buttermilk Basin. It's the one for July.

Where has the time gone? How can it be almost the end of May? April was a crazy month and I never got the pictures posted from our show and tell. Then, I actually forgot about it until my naggy friend, Karen, kept reminding me that I was falling behind with my blogging. So, this post is for you Karen! ;)

We had a small group at Woolies in April and there were only 3 of us with show and tell. Looks like I'm going to have to get out the whip and get those gals finishing their projects!

First up, Zena came with 2 finishes! Zena is new to wool applique and got addicted really quickly!

This is called "Bunny Love" by My Red Door Designs.

This one is "Stars and Stripes, also by My Red Door Designs.

Sandy had a very productive month. She dominated our show and tell! (But then, she usually does!)

She finished up the Buttermilk Basin mystery quilt from 2015. I like the setting she used.

She started this red and white quilt and didn't like the fact that is was a square, so added blocks to the top and bottom. I don't know what pattern this is. Sorry.

Here's another design by My Red Door called "Simplicity".

The scarecrow pillow is from Chestnut Junction called "Scarecrow".

These next 2 are part of "A Folk Quilt of the Month" by Sarah Sporrer. Indygo Junction publishes the patterns.

When we were in Minnesota at Karen's house last spring, Sandy spotted a wall hanging that Karen had in her studio and came home and reproduced it. Not sure who the original pattern is by. Oh that Sandy! LOL

The rest are mine. This cute little patriotic pillow is from a kit that I got at Karen's. It's by Twigs and Sprigs, called "Little Blessings".

And another My Red Door design called "Market Basket". Wow, we are all loving their patterns!

Here's another kit I got from Karen quite a few years ago. (I told you...it's my year of the finish)!

It's by one of my favorite designers, Quilts by Cheri and is called "Gather Love".

Last year I was in the Kim Diehl, Simple Whatnots Club, at my local quilt shop, and finished this one. The other 5 little quilts are on my list of things to finish this year! Those yo-yos are super tiny!

This flower quilt was one I made a few years ago but never quilted. So, that was a goal last month. Get at least one UFO finished! It's from a Whimsicals book. Can't find the book right now. If I do, I'll update. The background looks almost pink, but it's actually a tiny red and white check.

And, last but not least, this is another little montly by Buttermilk Basin in her Sew Simple BOM. This one is the one for May.

Happy spring everyone. Doesn't it feel good to have some warm sun shining on you? Yesterday was the first fairly warm day in Central Oregon and it was so refreshing. Hoping for more days just like it.

We had our monthly show and tell last week at our Woolies gathering and we had a few more participants than last month. So, here we go.

First up, Leslie had 3 projects for us. She's really been bitten by the wool craze. It's fun to have another addicted friend!

She made these next two from the "101 Fabulous Small Quilts book "

Linda showed us her Buttermilk Basin goodies.

The last 2 blocks are the first blocks of a Halloween quilt.

Sandy was very productive getting this applique quilt completely finished. It's designed by Norma from Timeless Traditions. We both bought the kit at the same time....hers is finished...mine? Not so much!

Hopefully you'll see mine sometime!

This next one is part of the Indygo Junction monthlies. It's the March installment.

These next ones are mine.

My friend Patty in Calif, gave me the kit for this one as a Christmas gift. I just love it. It's called "Simplicity" by My Red Door Designs.

And this one is called "Pinwheel Puzzle" and is part of the Kindred Spirits club by the ladies from Yellow Creek Quilt Designs.

Another monthly from Buttermilk Basin is this little one for May in the series called "Sew" Simple BOM.

And another Buttermilk Basin pattern called "C is for Chicks". I bought the kit from Karen at My Yellow Farmhouse quite a few years ago. Woo Hoo, another kit busted!

Funny thing about this next one. Last year during the holidays, I was addicted to all the wonderful pictures on Instagram where people were sharing their decorating. I kept seeing a theme of red and white quilts, so told myself that I was going to make myself one in 2016. While looking thru all my unfinished quilts, I came upon an almost finished red and white Irish Chain. I honestly don't even remember making it. (Not good!). Anyway, I got it finished in a day and off to the quilter it went.

Like the one Sandy showed above, I did 2 of the Indygo Junction monthlies. We both got the kits from Karen. You can tell what months they are for. LOL

I think it was a very productive month for the group. I'm continuing weeding through all my UFO's and kits. I'm bound and determined to make a dent in the pile by the end of the year.

Can you believe that tomorrow is April? I'm really ready for some warmer weather but Springtime in Bend is pretty iffy. Sun one day, snow the next. You never know what you're gonna get. Keeps us on our toes.

A little show n tell.

Well, last month I told you that Sandy and I were not going to be doing our projects together anymore, rather, we would be concentrating on tackling our kits and UFO's. After much soul searching, we both realized that our monthly show and tell day was a huge motivator to actually get our projects completed. So, we decided to continue that tradition even though we would be working on different things

We talked to the Woolies about this and invited the whole group to join us for a group show and tell at the last meeting of the month. A few of the ladies joined in this month, but hopefully, more will participate in months to come. Kind of short notice!

So, here we go.

First up is Lori who joined the Kim Dielh Simple Whatnots club #4.

And then she showed us her Civil War Sampler by Barbara Brackman. I am working on it now and wanted to see how many blocks she put in hers when setting it on point. I love this setting.

Sandy brought in a couple of finished ones. This first one is from the Kindred Spirits Club by the ladies of Yellow Creek Quilt Designs.

And this one is an old pattern by Indygo Junction in their series called "A Folk Quilt of the Month"

Mari brought in 14 sets of little pairs of mats that she's giving to her quilting friends at her next retreat. Don't you wish you were one of those friends? She got the designs from other patterns that she has and also came up with some of them on her own.

She made 14 sets but it looks like one set was being passed around when I took the pictures.

Next, Anna just got back from a cruise where Stacy from Buttermilk Basin and Lisa from Primitive Gatherings were the instructors. She's already finished this one that Lisa designed. Speedy Gonzales, there.

Check out all the fun stitches she used on the flower.

I got quite a bit accomplished in February. First up is the monthly series from Buttermilk Basin called "Sew Simple". This one is for April.

This one is called "Scarecrow" by Chestnut Junction.

And this one is my version of the Kindred Spirits Club. I forgot to mention that the name of the pattern is Two Way Street. If you go back and look at Sandy's, you'll see that even though we both had the exact same kit, we still managed to make them differently.

We even put the flying geese going in different directions. LOL

I have it next to the one we did last month.

I did the Indygo Junction little monthly for October.

Last May when I visited Karen in Minnesota, she took us to Sewing Seeds in New Ulm. This is their Row by Row from 2014. I bought the kit but finished it as a wall hanging instead of a row.

If you're ever in that neck of the woods, be sure and check out the shop. It's absolutely darling.

Sorry that the picture is washed out. The light from the window next to it was giving me fits.

I've had this little stitchery half finished for years.

Decided to get it done as part of my UFO busting.

It's called "Little Blessings" by Twigs n Sprigs. I don't think the designer is in business anymore.

And last up is a pattern by Primitive Stitches called "Be My Valentine". Another half finished project that needed the borders.

So, that's it for February. I met my challenge and have many more UFO's to get done.

December and January sewing with Sandy

Hi there….It’s been awhile, huh? So sorry.

It seems like the less I blog, the harder it is to get back to it.

We didn’t have a show and tell in December because it was such a crazy month, so we showed both December and January projects last week.

Like always, Sandy’s quilts are first and mine are below hers.

This one is called“Winter” by Country Threads

And this one was a freebie on the internet a few years ago.

It’s called “Trees on the table” by Marcie Patch of Patchalot Patterns.

Check out how different they are. The pattern gave different ways to make the trees.

We can’t get by without doing our Buttermilk Basin monthlies.

This one is called “Sew Simple BOM” and it’s the Feb installment

Create and Decorate magazine had this one as a project back in 2007.

It’s in the Holiday issue.

Last fall, we signed up for the Kindred Spirits Club through Fat Quarter Shop.

The patterns and fabric are by the talented ladies of Yellow Creek Quilt Designs.

This one is called “Split Decision”.

Funny thing, even though we had the same fabrics and the same pattern,

we still managed to make them a bit different.

This next project ended up being both of our favorites.

It’s called “Autumn Time” by Norma Whaley of Timeless Traditions.

We each interpreted this next one very differently.

It’s called “Block Garden” by Mountain Patchwork.

Another monthly by Buttermilk Basin in the Sew Simple series.

This one is March.

And last up is “Prim Valentine” by Primitive Stitches

Oops, I forgot to put the little bells on my bow. Darn!

So….that’s it for show and tell. And….that’s it for us for awhile.

We both decided to take a break this year from these projects to work on things that we’ve set aside for the past 2 years.

Lot’s of UFO’s to get done and some larger quilts that we didn’t have time for.

We did over 100 projects and had so much fun.

The biggest accomplishment for me was tackling the quilting on all these little goodies.

I now know that I’m not very good at freemotion quilting and will leave quilts that need it to the professionals, but I can very confidently do straight line quilting using my walking foot.

Sometimes, even making decent curves with it.

We both hope you’ve enjoyed our journey.

We are so appreciative of all the nice comments you’ve left.

I promise to continue to show you what we are working on and, hopefully,

I will post at least once or twice a month.

I’m not going away!

October and November sewing with Sandy

It looks like I’m a little late for the October show and tell and a bit early for the November show, so I guess we’ll just call it “even”.

We only had 3 projects for October because I was gone on a cruise and a bit of other travelling on the East Coast for 3 weeks. I took some projects with me to work on, but somehow they never made it out of the suitcase.

Both Mr CnW and I caught nasty colds before we ever even made it onto the ship. Mine ended in a sinus infection. We powered through the trip tho.

Anyway, I digress….now on with the show. As always, Sandy’s are first and mine are second. (I sound like a broken record, I know, but you never know when new blog readers might have just found me.)

This is a Country Threads pattern called “Basket and Pumpkin”

And, finally, we have finished up a year’s worth of banners by Buttermilk Basin. This one is “December”

And the last one for October is by Plays with Wool, called “Pumpkins”.

Now on to November projects.

First up is one we did last year, but decided to do the whole series this year to put on the cute little wire hangers. Sandy hasn’t gotten her hanger yet.

It’s by Buttermilk Basin called “Sew” Simple BOM. This one is January.

Here’s what the hanger looks like. These little mats are 6 inches square.

Next up is a little stitchery from the book “Hollyberry Sticheries” by Kindred Spirits.“

And here’s another Buttermilk Basin design called “With thy Needle – Thy time is mine”. It’s the one for December.

continuing on….the is a pattern from Quilts by Cheri called “Merry Christmas”

When I was pulling the patterns to get the names for you, I realized we really are huge Buttermilk Basin fan. Another BOM from Stacy is the Basin Cotton Club. This one is “January”. Looks like Sandy and I were both thinking “fall” with our choice of colors. It’s funny because we don’t talk to each other at all about our projects before the reveal.

Sandy added some cute little pumpkins on hers.

So, that’s it! Who knows what December will bring? It all depends on our free time. So much going on at this time of year.

Hey there, Today is the first day of Fall and boy am I ready for it. We’ve had a crazy couple of weeks, weather wise. All the way from high 90’s to snow in the mountains and freezing temps at night here. I have to say that I’m not ready for snow, but when it’s just in the mountains, I love looking at it.

It was my month to pick the patterns and since it’s fall, I’ll start with the autumn projects. First up is the Buttermilk Basin Banners thru the Year, November edition. (It’s hard to believe we only have one more to do)

Like always, Sandy’s are first and mine are second.

This next pattern was one we found while in Minnesota visiting Karen. It’s called “Tiny Quilts” Thru the year, November by Front Porch Quilts.

Sandy decided to frame hers.

And I stitched mine onto a towel.

Moving on to Winter, I picked a pattern by Country Threads Inc, called Frosty, itty bitty quilt.

It measures 10 x 12, so I decided to hang it on a wire display.

And last, but not least, is a Springtime wool and stitchery called “Tall and Small” by Waltzing with Bears.

I think mine will hang in my entry way on a cute quilt rack when spring arrives. In the meantime, I’m just gonna leave it on my quilt wall to enjoy when the weather gets cold and I’m ready for spring. Have you ever noticed how we are always ready for the next season to get here? LOL

Well, we’re finally caught up after all the trips, family visits and just plain ‘ol summer shenanigans.

You may have noticed that we have picked fewer and smaller projects this year.   That was intentional so that we could also work on other things that we have in our stash. Sandy is managing to put a dent in hers… Me? not so much.   Not sure where the time goes.

Anyway, here we go for August show and tell.   As always, Sandy’s are first.

This is a new pattern from Buttermilk Basin.   It’s part of a BOM called “Simply Words”.   This one is “September”.   It measures 6” square.

Next up is an old pattern of Buttermilk Basin’s called “A Collection of Flowers #1”.   We saw them stitched up at Karen’s house and both fell in love with them.

We both love bowl fillers and when Cheri came up with these new ones, we both immediately ordered the pattern. It’s called “Summer Gathering”. The pattern also has a cute little quilt that Sandy did. You can look on Anna’s blog from yesterday to see it.

And last, but not least, is another banner from Buttermilk Basin in the series we’ve been doing. This one is “October”.   Now…this is where you will see a huge difference in our interpretation of the pattern.    Mine is exactly like the pattern, and Sandy’s isn’t.   Need I say more?   He he.

Quite a difference, huh?   Oh that Sandy is quite the creative one! Looks like she’s not too wild about ghosts and pumpkins.   LOL

I’m so ready for fall to arrive.   We’ve had so much smoke here in Bend from all the fires in the Pacific Northwest. They are burning all around us so it doesn’t really matter which way the wind is blowing.   Hopefully with fall arriving and the cooler temperatures, those wonderful firefighters can get a handle on them.

July sewing with Sandy

I didn’t do this post in July because Sandy played hookey from Woolies and went to Seattle to a baseball game.   Priorities! So, anyway, we had our show ‘n tell this past Tuesday when the Woolies met.
This was my month to pick the projects and they are an ode to Karen. 2 of the projects came from her nest.    Sandy and I visited Karen and her Red Farmhouse in May and had a wonderful time.   Her sewing nest is beyond believable.   Shopping in her nest was so much fun and we certainly did some major damage to our bank accounts!
I’m going to have to gather all my pictures and do a post of our Minnesota visit.   The pictures don’t do her house justice at all. It’s beyond gorgeous.
As always, Sandy’s projects are first and mine second.
This first one is a pattern that we both picked up on our Minnesota quilt shop hop that Karen took us on.   We got it at Gruber’s Quilt Store.   It’s called “Antique Churn Dash” by Grandma Shirley’s Quilts.

I got this pink fabric from Karen’s shop and all the little churn dashes are using Stacy’s, (Buttermilk Basin) new fabric line called “Humble Beginnings”.   It’s darling fabric.

Next up is a little gem from My Red Door designs called “Springtime”.   It was a little kit that Karen had made up and we both fell in love with it and had to have it.

Karen loaned us the pattern for this next one because the designer is no longer in business.    It’s called “Blessings to Land of Free Angel” by Primitive Blessings by Twigs and Sprigs.
