2014-09-15T16:46:00.002-04:00

Young returns to the road this weekend with headlining dates in Frederick, MD, Hampton Beach, NH, Newport, RI, Webster, MA, and Bloomburg, PA, and will rejoin the Riser Tour with Dierks Bentley for shows in Cincinnati, OH and Nobelsville, IN the following weekend.

From the voice that gave you Western Avenue's chart-topping single,"Wherever You Are", comes Nikki English's impeccable debut solo single "Follow Your Heart"

2014-09-13T23:33:00.003-04:00

When Canadian Singer-Songwriter Nikki English lost her father and largest supporter to cancer in 2001, English struggled with the loss but eventually used his passing as a catalyst to spark her whole hearted pursuit of a career in music. When the same tragedy struck longtime friends of English, her previous life challenges prepared her for inspirational action.

After years of babysitting children from a neighborhood family, English remained close to the family and children long after babysitting age. After the tragic passing of their father, English attended the funeral where both children gave moving speeches and played songs as an ode to his frequent encouragements to live their dreams. English knew she needed to find a way to reach out to them. That evening she penned her new solo single, 'Follow Your Heart,' and in no time had it recorded and shared it with the family.

"It was important to me that I do this. Losing my father was painful but it gave me the courage and fire to do what I really wanted to do. I wanted them to know that your loved ones are never really gone. Your life is simply a living tribute to their memory and to truly follow your heart is the best tribute you can give," says English.

Now with a new single on the horizon, English who has spent the last few years in successful rising Canadian Country Trio Western Avenue and is excited to step away from the group for a short time to release this moving and deeply personal song as a solo artist.

With stirring vocals and uplifting production "Follow Your Heart," reminds listeners that your loved ones are always close by- in your heart. Released to iTunes presale September 2nd with official release on September 30th, 2014. https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/follow-your-heart-single/id914091832

At the program's opening, Young made a presentation of his own, donating $30,000 to Nashville School of the Arts to help update the school auditorium. NSA is the only arts magnet high school within Metro Nashville Public Schools, offering its students the "rare combination of rigorous, college preparatory curriculum instructed with intensely focused instruction in the performing or visual arts."

Jana Kramer Takes Canton,Ohio To New Heights At Pro Football Hall Of Fame Ribs Burn-Off Concert

2014-08-01T20:25:00.001-04:00

Rights Reserved: Shellie Palmer Country Music City Promotions

As we approach summer ending football season is beginning with festivities and events during Pro Football Hall of Fame week in North East Ohio's Stark County region of Canton,Ohio. During the annual festivities in Canton artists and acts come from across the country to perform through out the weeks events. On the very last day of July, Thursday evening's nightly concert welcomed actress, rising country star Jana Kramer who's most notably recognized from the popular CW hit show One Tree Hill. Kramer who released her self titled debut album in 2012 received a gold certification within the year and topped the charts with her first single "Why Ya Wanna" with the follow up singles "Whiskey" and "I Hope It Rains" all performed during the hour and a half set, including "Goodbye California" and "I Won't Give Up" from the album. Miss Kramer's enthusiastic charm, yet potty mouth brought a wide diversity of fans young and old out to the Stark County Fair's Ribs Burn-Off to hear the voice music row calls electrifying, a twist of country and alternative rock combined. Jana's presence was known during the opening performance of "We Will Rock You" getting the crowd hyped to sing along.Early on Jana and her band joked how wonderful the air smelled of BBQ. "I'll love you forever if you can get me a slab of ribs", she explains. Kramer's alternate ego stands corrected during the performance, covering Alanis Morrisette's "You Oughta Know", the sultry angst suits Jana's musical styling. Among the mix of cover tracks from Shania Twain, Gnarls Barkley and Garth Brooks it was however the cover of Lorde's "Royals" that truly struck a cord with fans, myself included. The deeply dark beautifully written song broke records earlier this year becoming the fastest rising single to date in Billboard history. Jana's cover of "Royals" blew all exception out the window for the budding country star who masterfully sang it to Lorde vocally. Jokingly enough someone from the audience brought Kramer her wish of some delicious ribs to her. "Mmm, these are so good, thank you for these", she said. Jana jokingly laughs, "Should I give the band some?" The standing crowd encourages her and through out the set pauses to feed her fellow guitarists. At one moment during the show Kramer receives the loudest boo from the crowd explaining she's a Michigander, originally from Michigan moved to LA when first starting out in her career. "I'm just a mid west girl, I was like a fish out of water, I don't wear high heels on the beach", she explains. "I'll always be a mid west girl". The most enduring moment through out the set Jana taking selfies with the crowd of fans showing love in all directions. "On this next song I want all of you to pull out your phones and put it on reverse mode, the side you see yourself. This song means so much and really puts things in perspective. This is LOVE out now at radio." Giving fan love through the standing crowd, lights were flashing and smiles grinning. Every fan wanted their moment with Jana. Exciting enough Kramer announced her brand new album will soon be released, looking at a possible late September early October release. Kramer previewed several to be included on the sophomore album performing "Don't Touch My Radio", "Pop That Bottle" and "All That I've Got To Give". Leaving the show on a high note Kramer's encore performance of her debut single "Why Ya Wanna" had the crowd singing every note every word. "You ROCK Canton,Ohio!", she exclaims. "I want to see all your beautiful love, I want to meet you I'll be signing after the show." Jana Kramer certainly rocked Canton,Ohio in style and in flare wearing a brightly pink top, leopard print spanx with her rockin' heel boots. Kramer didn't disappoint and gained new fans across North East Ohio.

Credit to Debra (Bybee) James: Twitter

The most endearing James family has heart, passion and soul, what more can you say of Debra James, mother of musicians Billy Cole (B.C) and Casey James. Debra's voice serves a comfort and joy to listeners. Vocally a star herself, humbled in her ways Debra's musicality conveys truth and authenticity. One could compare Debra to the likes of Emmylou Harris and Alison Krauss. To most Casey James fans Debra is known as Bybee on the social networking site Twitter soon to be a Facebook user but don't count her out of showing up daily on the networking site. Among her musical abilities Debra has her full time day job among music and performing. In my own daily accounts with Debra I continue to feel, see and hear conviction, honesty, spirituality and a whole lot of love. One says the power and passion of one's voice can move mountains and I truly believe it, it is a rare form in country music today. Debra who is currently working on a brand new album soon to be released will cross that bridge and I for one am looking forward to it. It's all in the family, Debra's youngest Casey is remembered from American Idol season 9. The alum went on to release his self titled debut album in March of 2012 gained a large fan base, toured the country and had a couple hit singles "Let's Don't Call It A Night" and "Crying On A Suitcase". Since then Casey continues to perform and tour and began work on a follow up, the highly anticipated sophomore album due out later this year. Fans can expect a fall release.

What more could there be?, Debra's oldest Billy Cole (BC) has the artistry touch who launched James Bands earlier this year, the bands began during the year Casey spent on American Idol and through out that time every band of all leather hand designed and crafted by Billy himself comes down to the stitch, every band has it uniqueness. You will get that and more from the maker himself. Aside of a designer himself BC is as well a musician, it sure is all in the family.

The tight knit James family may as well have had their ups and downs through the years though one thing for certain God and music keep them moving forward.

Spotlight Artist of The Month: Amy Rose Gives Good Meaning To Country Music

2014-06-23T10:57:00.000-04:00

Amy Rose

Amy Rose is as country as country can be, and they say Canada isn't country. The Barrie, Ontario born and bred vocal power house is that and more. In our first interview laughs were rolling and stories were exchanged but I'll leave that on the cutting room floor. Rose is charmingly witty, poised, and polished. Don't get me wrong she's a total redneck she told me. "We're like Duck Dynasty meets Honey Boo Boo, we're a large family you just never know what to expect from us". Aside from family country music is a huge part of Rose's career who's been performing since the age of 5 who stands up for female empowerment another reason to really push the women of country music from word of mouth at Country Music City Promotions. I never had this much fun interviewing a female artist. I literally cried with tears streaming down my face. Rose is so real, honest, all heart, she's infectious and has a way to make anyone smile. Rose is on the rise who's charted territory with 3 consecutive singles from "I Just Want You To Know"," (Redneck Reunion)Party Like A Redneck", and "Sunshine", so what's next? This is it! Find out here.

You began performing at a very young age, did you always know that you wanted to be a performer? "I did, I did!" "It's funny cause I grew up in a house were country music was played 24/7 and that's all you heard we didn't have other genre's of music in our house it was only country and I'm talking about the classic country like Tammy Wynette, Pasty Cline, Conway Twitty, those type of artists. I grew up in it. I had a kids classic record player, it was a Strawberry Shortcake record player that played real records and I had this mix record of country classics, it was something like that with Patsy Cline on it and there was Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man" I literally locked myself in my room to memorizing the song. I was 5 and remember going with my parents to the local fair, they had this karaoke contest going on and I told them I wanted to sing, it was a competition so I basically told them I wanted to do it, my mom talked to the judges and asked them if I could sing. I get up there and sang Tammy's "Stand By Your Man" from then on I was hooked.

Have you had any moments over the years that awe struck you or took you by surprise? Oh gosh, yeah, I've met so many people I got to open for Big and Rich last summer. Their really nice guys. I recently got to meet Crystal Gayle down in Nashville, I love her, so honestly at that moment I was awe struck. Honestly I really want to meet Dolly Parton.

How has your family adjusted to you're constant traveling? I love to travel, don't get me wrong, as long as I'm on land, we drive everywhere. I miss my kids a lot of the times when I'm gone, it is so hard, their still young and I don't want to have to take them somewhere where they have to be watched. In the future would love to take them on the road and make it out of a big ole family trip.

You have 3 girls do they see mommy as a big country superstar? No, I'm mommy!

Of all the single releases you've released this past year is there one that means the most to you? I'm trying to get this full album done, realistically the way I see it right now I'm releasing all these singles. "I Just Want You To Know" was the first chart topping single then followed it up with "Party Like A Redneck". My most favorite one, wow! um, would have to be (Redneck Reunion) Party Like A Redneck is because I co-wrote it and it's about family it represents where I come from and my back round.

Country Crazy is you're newest single, what drew you to the song? That song was written by my chief producers Marty Beecroft and Glenn Coulson, they wrote it with Tal Bachman who wrote "She's So High". He brought the song to me and said listen to it and let me know what you think, so I listened to it, I liked it but already had four songs picked out at the time so let's put this on the back burner. Then when it was time pulled it back out and thought this is like me. It really describes me, so we decided to record it. Hopefully people will dig it.

Country music has become the most popular in years,do you think you have to continue to raise the bar as a country female artist? Yeah,It's funny and something that I'm getting compared to great vocalists such as Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson who I don't stand a chance to, their great and I'm a big fan of both of them.Typically in today's society men are dominating the charts, the women have to keep pushing it's harder for a female to make it in the industry than it is opposed to a male. It's a man's world and we need to take charge of it. Women hear us roar! We've got these songs to sing and we want you to hear them.

If you could collaborate with any female country artist who would it be and why? Dolly Parton, I love her, I look up to her, honestly, I want a career path such as her. She's an inspiration to so many artists not just myself. By the trend and the image she paved the way for women telling them you don't need to look a certain way. She's more than just an artist, she's an actress, a screen writer, she's a producer, she did broadway, she's a director, she's really done it all and I love her I think she's great.

Can we expect a new album later this year? Eventually, yeah we're gonna have a full album but like I said right now it's like having an album full of singles. I would like to release a full album and I would want it to be called "The Real Me" out of all the albums I've done I took some time out to become a mom I got to experience life in so many ways and found the real me and searched for the inner artist I am. I did all the co-writes, the graphics, everything. I feel like this project itself is the real me, it's the sweat and tears I put into it. Once this projects finished I want it to be titled "The Real Me" this is the real Amy.

What has been you're biggest highlight this year?, or have there been several? There are so many, um, I was invited to do the Billy Block show, I was really excited to do that, uh! um!, as well as winning the award for the Nashville Universe Awards it was really unexpected, honestly I'm thinking WOW this Canadian girl from Ontario get's nominated I'm not even American. I literally was jumping up and down like a kid in a candy shop "I won, I won, I won!" That was pretty cool. Uh, oh gosh part of CMA Fest, I had such a great time. I love Nashville I want to move there. It's my goal crossing my fingers to one day pack up the family and move there.

Lastly, were do you see yourself in the next year with music and family?
Hmmm, my goal my ten year plan is, I wanna be performing on the Grand Ole Opry stage it's always been a dream of mine since I was little. We've been working on this for years and hoping that one day it will pay off, it would be a great opportunity. To ever get to that point would be a great accomplishment. I want to get up there and I want Dolly Parton to introduce me. That would be super awesome.

CMT Music Awards: Highlights and Winners

2014-06-05T00:03:00.000-04:00

The 2014 CMT Awards aired live on CMT Wednesday evening kicking off CMA Music Fest week. Starting the show with a performance from Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan and ZZ Top might have ruined it for traditional country fans all together who still prefer old school country to the modern day country pop sound. Hosting the show as a solo act this year Kristen Bell had snappy come backs and hijinks, some didn't fly so well, though at times found her groove. The night's highlighted performances were many including Little Big Town's performance of their brand new single "Day Drinking", the romping summer themed song gives last years hit Pontoon a sequel and this is it.Flying paint drenches on the performance and the crowd all together making it the most memorable performance of the evening. It was a night for Eric Church's take no BS attitude jived the larger than life crowd and his fellow peers. "That's Damn Rock N' Roll" is a reminder of the days of Johnny Cash and Johnny Paycheck who made a mark in country music history. Keith Urban took a more intimate approach with his performance of "Cop Car" with The Bluebird Cafe back drop taking us where it all began performing at night clubs. The most influential moment was the CMT Impact Award, Carrie Underwood was honored to present to Alan Jackson who has given fans more than 50 singles to date, the performance tribute from Lee Ann Womack and Kacey Musgraves was a match made in heaven, "Livin' On Love" couldn't sound better than Alan performing it himself. True country came alive. Jennifer Nettles returned to the CMT Music stage this year with Hunter Hayes and R&B singer John Legend, the moving ballad "All Of Me" struck a cord in all of us. As much as there were performances there was less time for acceptance speeches. The only female in the category for Breakthrough Artist Cassadee Pope looked dim, however took the buckle by surprise and was floored by the win. Female empowerment couldn't look better from a female country artist these days and Blake Shelton was estatic for her. Brantley Gilbert was flying high with his performance of "Bottoms Up" the number 1 song in country music soared through the crowd showing his love and appreciation to fans took a leap, a perfect back flip. What a bold move. As if that wasn't enough Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood strutted their high rising stilettos and big hair giving rock n' roll a good name with their performance of "Something Bad". To top off the last of the performances Blake Shelton takes us outside downtown Nashville with "Boys 'Round Here", the city lights were bright and the crowd was partying hard. Country music lit up the night with the largest crowd to date for CMA Music Fest week. Knowingly thinking all of the United States were in attendance.
