How do I keep track of my stockpile?

I love getting all these good deals with Coupon Sense; but figuring out what to do with then has been a task in itself. How do you keep track of your stockpile? How do you know when to buy more?

I don’t have all the answers just some suggestions and things that have worked for me. I have found that organization is very important in this. I quickly found my good deals don’t all fit in one place and so I started putting items in rooms where they belong, for example I put my kids shampoo, kids soap and kids toothpaste under their sink. I keep toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotion, body wash, cosmetics, deodorant, razors and hair care products under my bathroom sink. It is so much easier to see how much toothpaste we have or need to donate when it is all together.

In the past I have also tried writing the date we started using an item so I could get an idea of how fast my family uses items so I know how much to buy. I don’t want to buy more than we can use before it expires because I have to throw away a good deal it was never a good deal.
I have a shopping list hanging in my pantry and as I run out of something that I don’t have on hand I write it down then the next time I am headed to the grocery store, I grab my list and quickly type the items into my shopping list to check for good deals and coupons.
On my deep freeze I have a dry erase board with items I regularly use and keep in there and then I have tally marks and when I take out a package of meat I erase a mark so I know when to start looking for chicken deals or watch the price of hamburger. I buy meat and then re-wrap it with freezer wrap into portion sized meals for my family. I also put freezer meals on here so I can keep track of my easy dinners.

I have buckets in the bottom of my pantry for my stuff I use regularly flour, sugar, wheat, white rice & brown rice, I usually keep a year supply of what we use downstairs and then fill as needed. I know that with flour I buy it every other month and it is usually the same price but wheat and sugar deals are a little harder to come by so I buy enough to last until it goes on sale again, I don’t want to get caught paying full price for them.

I have cold storage room where I store my cereal, canned goods, baking supplies and snacks; everything has a place so that when I am getting low I can see the empty space and know I need to start watching for those deals. This room is usually overflowing but in September I had spaces everywhere then the baking stuff started going on sale and we were able refill our storage room.

I love Coupon Sense and have been able to fill my cabinets, my pantry, my storeroom and have had plenty of opportunities to give.

That reminds me of the time my brother stayed at my grandparents and my grandma washed the towels before he got there and forgot to put new ones out. My brother was too embarrassed to ask her where they were, so he ended up using a hand towel after his shower. I guess it was better than a wash cloth. We all laugh about it now, and it reminds me to make sure I have towels in the bathroom!
