Where can I find MULTIPLE coupons? There are SO many places to find coupons.

*ask friends, family, and neighbors for their coupon inserts
*check recycle bins – be sure you ASK first – if a bin is at a church/public place, head on in and ask if you can grab some coupons
*some areas offer discounted Sunday papers midweek (tues or wed) if they have not sold out yet
*coffee shops
*auto repair waiting areas
*bagel or other similar restaurants
*trade with friends, or find a place online to trade
*live in an area with a homeowners association? Post on the online-boards asking if you can pick up coupons each week
*check with your local newspaper to see if they offer deals on multiple newspapers

Check the internet for printable coupons

Write to companies and ASK for coupons! Just find their “contact me” button on their website. MANY companies are very generous with their coupons. I suggest emailing smaller/new companies. You will get the best results!

Kids and Couponing – Do Your Children Coupon?

Teaching your child about coupons can start at an early age. My 3 year old knows what coupons are. She can sort them for me, she can find items that match my coupons (using the picture) and she often asks “mom, do you have a coupon for that?”

I do prefer to shop alone, however when I do have the kids with me, I use it as an opportunity to teach them. When they were very young, the grocery store was a place they could learn colors, food groups, and counting. Now, if my oldest 2 children (11 and 9) are with me, we play “guess the total”. We will guess the total before coupons and after coupons. It can be fun and they actually do win!!

Starting early with couponing skills or money saving strategies is very important. Children will learn about the calendar, math, and saving money. The tools you teach them now will last throughout their life, so make sure to get an early start in coupon clipping with your kids. I remember as a child sorting my moms coupons for her. She had a small coupon box, and I thought it was so much fun categorizing them for her. When we were heading to the store I would watch her pull the coupons out to match the sale ads. See how much that impacted me?

I will end with a funny story. When my oldest daughter was 5 (she is now 9) she LOVED pulling the blinkie coupons out of the boxes for me. I had my back turned and I heard her squeal – “MOM I FOUND A COUPON FOR YOU” – she was SO proud of herself. I looked down and noticed she had pulled the shelf tags off for 3 different products. WOOPS
