Jimmy Choo Wellington Boots

OK, seriously, these Wellies make me wish I live in London or Seattle, anywhere that isn't facing a drought (lovely sunny So Cal does have it's downsides!). I first saw these at Jimmy Choo fall preview and it is finally making it's debut. It is croc embossed of course since it is rubber but because they are Wellies, it makes it all the more cool. How chic would it be with skinny pants and cropped jacket (trench is too obvious, don't like that look, too contrived). I actually hate the rain and with temperature in the 80's here right now, I can't really see myself tromping around town with these but trust me, I am tempted!! And when can you ever get Jimmy Choo boots for $325? That's right, never! At Net-a-Porter, $395.

Haute Couture: What looks will celebs be wearing?

Givenchy, Lacroix, Valentino

Ahh Haute Couture! Doesn't it just put a smile on your face!? Seeing Lacroix's collection was so emotional and I was merely looking at photos from NYC! I can't even imagine seeing his collection in person. He is truly a master -- even with limited resources and without all the colorful frills we are used to seeing from him, Lacroix delivered the most stunning couture collection of the season. Saab was great as well, though he clearly knocked-off the idea for his all-white collection from Lagerfeld's stunning January runway show. That said I love that like Valentino, Saab is going in a younger, edigier direction. Givenchy I didn't love (was anyone else thrown by how incoherent the collection was?), though there were still a number of fab structured looks. Valentino -- again wow! Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo's work was very unexpected (barely any bows and no red in sight!). Dior was stunning as well -- love that he is sticking with his love for garters, lace, and no pants! Chanel and Armani obviously had beautiful construction and detailing, but there collections didn't stand-out as anything out of the ordinary for either house. Lastly Jean Paul Gaultier -- loved it. Love him! His collection was so fierce, strong, yet feminine and he walked on the runway at the end of the show eating a Magnum ice cream:)

My jeans dilemma is like Sophie's Choice, too low and my gut hangs out, too high and my ass gets flattened. What's a girl to do (other than the obvious, diet). I pretty much have given up on finding the new "perfect" jeans after having to give away all my pre-baby jeans that no longer fit or have the glimmer of ever fitting again. So today, just cuz I had time to kill and had a really great SA to help me, I decided to start the hunt again. To my amazement and sheer joy, I found my new perfect BJF (best jeans forever, in case that was too cryptic)!! The AG Angels are just high enough to cover the muffin top but still gives the flattering butt low hip jeans are meant to do. And these are stretchy so if I am bloated, it will stretch over my gut instead of cut me off and produce an ever bigger muffin top. They are also thin so the perfect weight for the summer heat. I got the light wash, Lotto, since these will be my summer jeans. AG Angels at Revolve Clothing for $178.

Times sure have changed, there was a day when I'd just be leaving the house to dance the night away at 10pm on a Saturday night-- now you're more likely to find me coming in by 10pm on a Saturday night. But a girl can still live vicariously through her memories. Let's see-- what would I wear if I was on my way out tonight?? Definitely Alexander Wang's asymmetrical dress-- this is the hottest dress I have seen all week! It drapes, curves and hugs in all the right places, see how it can hide arm fat and a bulging tummy?!?! No need to starve or diet, embrace your curves with this gorgeous plummy colored dress! Heart pounding, finger itching to click on size 0... I love it with Prada studded platforms and Michael Kors studded clutch. For the less adventurous, any old pair of strappy black shoes will do-- but the clutch is a must have at $198! You don't need much jewelry but a single piece of standout like this lucite pair from Erickson Beamon is key to pulling it all together. Now this is an outfit that will wear well til the wee hours of the night!

I am obsessing over the Miu Miu Croco Cutout sandals-- it comes in red, black or brown and is both comfortable and sexy-- a rare combo. Get it at Barneys or Neiman Marcus for $640. Yup, it's not real croc at that price but looks amazing huh!?!?

The half boot half sandal shoe from Giuseppe Zanotti is freakish but appealing. Sort of Phantom of the Opera meets Sex and the city. I tried them on and my feet felt out of balance and kind of confused. Love the look though! Giuseppe Zanotti Half-Open Wedge Sandals $595 here

Michelle Obama Necklace: Snob or Slob?

I am surprised to see the First Lady in this trendy multi chained necklace. It's not her usual simple style though I'll admit this rock and roll look is a nice departure from her usual pearls and diamond studs. A simple white cardigan sets off this necklace from Fenton (you can order it through Obama's friend's boutique, Ikram, where she buys all her clothes and baubles-- 312-587-1000.), a one-of-a-kind design with ropes of metal chains, rhinestones and vintage coins (way too busy for me but she makes it work). The designer of Fenton also has a lesser priced option called Fallon that you can order online directly. What do you think of Michelle's necklace? Snob or Slob?

Celeb Designers are SO 2004

Sometimes a recession is a good thing for the fashion industry, a weeding out process of designers who had no business designing clothes in the first place-- AKA the Celeb Designer. We rejoice at the news that Heidi Montag-Pratt's "Heidiwood" line of clothing has shut down (really, am drinking a glass of bubbly now as I write!") and that a dozens others have followed suit (Paris Hilton's Dollhouse, J.Lo's Sweetface, etc). Celebrity apparel lines hit a peak a few years ago, and now that there are so many on the market, consumers are tired, or I should say sick and tired of the nonsense! On the other hand, low key endorsement deals from celebs who don't put their names on the lines seem to faring much better with their business models(Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B and the Olsen twins' The Row and Elizabeth and James). Basically the celebs have to be willing to put in the work-- both in design and promotion/marketing side-- in order for it to succeed. Just sticking your name on something and pouting and posing is not going to cut it anymore.

Celeb Trend: Flats with Maxi Dresses

I love the look of long flowing dresses with flats-- so chic and casual. Maxi dresses look equally cute at the beach or on city streets. Wearing super flats took a bit of adjusting for me but seriously, I'm not fooling anyone with my 4" platforms so I've embraced my shortness! 90210 California girl Anny Lynn also loves the look of flats-- she wears her maxi dresses and crisp white jeans with flats from Two Doors Down. Have to say she is kind of too skinny for that huge head of hair. Just an observation.

I always say comfort first when it comes to air travel but with these chic long cardigans, being comfortable no longer means sacrificing style! It is super light weight so you can even toss it on over your bikini before heading in to an air conditioned restaurant.
