As a Christian and a Dungeons and Dragons fan, I found this interview fascinating. Demons have overrun a peaceful valley, dark forces have driven humans underground, and the only one who can save them is a wounded black unicorn. This is a Dungeons and Dragons campaign from the mind of a United Methodist minister. James Wyatt is no longer a minister, but he is still a Christian. He's also the design manager for Dungeons and Dragons at the Seattle-based Wizards of the Coast. James grew up playing D & D, and he's actually found a lot of overlap between Dungeons and Dragons role playing and Christianity. James Wyatt talks with KUOW's Jeremy Richards.

The Guardian reports that: Sea monsters are the new zombies, at least according to Quirk Books, the publisher of this year's surprise hit Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Quirk, whose remix of Jane Austen pitted the Bennet sisters against hordes of flesh-eating undead, has announced that the new title in its series will be Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters. I did not read the first book mostly because I'm not overly interested in zombie novels, but this one I will most surely read. Through Joe Sherry, I just found out that Helen S. Wright's novel A Matter of Oaths is free for download. ABOUT THE BOOK: (from a review by a reader) Rafe is a member of the Guild of Webbers, the individuals who make space travel possible by using an implanted web to directly interface their minds to the ship's systems.Webbers must work in teams and trust is important. Unfortunately for Rafe, he's been identity-wiped (a fate usually reserved for criminals,but he has no apparant record) and no one wants to risk trusting him. Commander Rallya needs another qualified webber and takes Rafe on with some reservations. These reservations soon turn to concern --not over Rafe's competency,because he knows more tricks than he should for his rank--but Rafe apparantly has unremembered enemies from both empires who think nothing of arranging to get rid of Rallya's ship! Why do highly placed officials on both sides of the unofficial "cold" war want Rafe and anyone next to him dead? What does he know but can't remember? Who is he?
