We are pleased to announce the hiring of two new staff members: Mr. Will Mooney who will serve as our Director of Senior High Ministries and Mr. Ben Pflederer who will serve as our Interim Senior High Boys Director.

Will grew up in Nashville and attended the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) where he graduated in 2005 with a major in Psychology and minor in Business and Religious Studies. He returned to Nashville and spent the next five years working in youth and family ministry. He enjoys listening to and playing music, traveling, running, ultimate frisbee and eating good food with good friends. He and his wife, Afton, met at UT and were married in 2007. They currently live in St Louis where Will is working as a counselor and finishing a Masters in Counseling and Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary this December. They are excited to be expecting twin girls this August!  Will will begin his duties here after graduation.

In the interim we are delighted to welcome Ben Pflederer as our director of senior high boys ministry.  Ben was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. He will graduate from Vanderbilt University in May with a degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies. Ben has been working with YoungLife at Overton High School for all four years. After working as the Senior High here intern last summer, he continued to stay involved with our youth as a D-Group leader this year. Ben loves soccer and all Vanderbilt sports (especially football) and hopes to make a second consecutive trip to the World Cup next summer in Brazil. When asked what his greatest strengths are Ben said, “Beard-growing, sleeping and not golf.” In the future Ben plans to attend seminary and pursue work in teaching, coaching soccer, counseling, and ministry/church work.

Pastor J Hager will assume full-time duties with our Catalyst Ministry this June, focusing on the 22-35 year old age group.  He will host a Sunday School class each week and develop other fellowship and ministry opportunities for recent graduates and young adults.

AT THE CHURCH:

• Letter Writing - We will write notes of thanksgiving and encouragement to our missionaries.
• Lost and Found Closet - This closet needs some special attention and organization! Come fellowship while we get this closet cleaned out and looking shipshape!
• Covenant Children’s Ministry - Our children’s ministry has many papers to file and organize at the beginning of each quarter. Come fellowship as you file as a way to serve this ministry.

IN OUR COMMUNITY:

• Salama Institute - We will spend our morning helping their volunteer coordinator organize their library and work on a special project for their April fundraiser.
• Preston Taylor Ministries - We will spend our morning cleaning out their kitchen and organizing a few closets.
• World Relief - We will spend our morning at their warehouse helping sort household donations.

• Six donations can ensure one patient has enough blood for heart surgery.
• Twenty donations can help one burn victim.
• Fifty donations could provide enough blood to take care of victims of a car accident.

On Easter Sunday, our parking lot will not accommodate all our members and guests. We will be utilizing the parking lots at the bottom of the hill across from our Burton Hills entrance and we encourage our members to utilize the shuttle bus service in an effort to give our visitors and special need members the opportunity to park on top of the hill.

Childcare provided for all worship services.
