ER star to have breast cancer op

ER star, Maura Tierney - a one-time love interest for George Clooney on the hit show - is to have surgery to remove a breast tumour.

The 44-year-old actress, famous for playing Abby Lockhart in the series, which came to an end recently, said in a statement: "I have discovered a tumour in my breast which requires surgery. I will not know either my exact diagnosis or course of treatment until that surgery is performed. I'm very optimistic as to the outcome."

But she also said she had been assured her condition is 'very treatable'.

Production on her new television show, Parenthood, has been halted to allow Maura - who received an Emmy nomination for her role as Lockhart - to receive treatment.

SPOTTED a pair of lush Christian Louboutin shoes (like these red-soled babies as worn by Victoria Beckham) for less than £150 for sale on the internet? Can't believe your luck at finding such a superb pair of heels at such a great price? Maybe thinking the deal is simply too good to be true?

Well you'd be right. While you might be licking your lips at the prospect of wearing a pair of designer heels the like of which adorn the feet of stars such as Kate Moss, Rihanna and Victoria Beckham, the reality is you're being sucked in to a fake shoe scam.

Over the past months numerous 'sale' websites have sprung up advertising '100 per cent genuine' shoes from top designer names with bargain bucket price tags - well compared to the true price anyway.

Shoes from 'Christian Louboutin' are being advertised for just over £100, when their true full price is generally more than £400.

The websites claim they are selling the genuine article and are authorised agents - the reason they can offer such huge discounts is they get the shoes straight from the factory.

JOHN Barrowman is unrecognisable as dashing Captain Jack Harkness after slipping into a pair of high heels and a skimpy dress to promote his upcoming stint in La Cage aux Folles.

Dressed as a foxy redhead and draped in bling, Barrowman managed not to cause any traffic accidents as he posed for pictures in busy traffic near London Bridge.

Torchwood star Barrowman, who plays Captain Jack in the hit Doctor Who spin-off, will play the part of Albin/Zaza when he takes over from current leading man Roger Allam in the West End show on September 14.

He will continue in the role at the Playhouse Theatre until November 28.

Nasty Nick Pulls Out of Big Brother Appearance

"NASTY" Nick Bateman has pulled out of plans to enter the Big Brother house today as he was not being paid.

Craig Phillips, who confronted Bateman in a gripping showdown during BB1, has been drafted in as Bateman's replacement.

Phillips went on to win the first series, after Bateman was kicked off for writing notes which he showed to contestants to influence their voting.

Batemen was due to be the first of a number of former contestants, including Nikki Grahame and Brian Belo, set to appear on television screens again this week as part of celebrations for the show's 10th series.

PETER Andre has criticised his estranged wife, Katie Price, for choosing to speak about her miscarriage, saying the matter should have remained private.

In an interview with Piers Morgan which was broadcast on ITV1 on Saturday, Price revealed she suffered the miscarriage less than a month before the couple split up.

The glamour model-turned-author told how she lost the baby 10 weeks into her pregnancy but continued to run the London Marathon a week later because she did not want to let down sponsors.

The couple - who started dating after meeting on the set of the 2005 dance movie - exchanged vows and Neil Lane wedding bands under pepper trees filled with white and blush flowers on a private estate overlooking the ocean, People reports.

Channing, aged 29, wore Giorgio Armani and Jenna, aged 28, had a Reem Acra gown for the fairy-themed ceremony, which was attended by 220 guests including bridesmaid HAYLIE DUFF.

The outdoor ceremony was followed by a sit-down reception in a tent.

The couple announced they had split last July, but have since been spotted together several times as they are co-starring in new romcom Going The Distance. They were recently at the Cabin Down Below in NYC's East Village, according to Life And Style magazine.

Drew, aged 34, and Justin, aged 31, were said to have enjoyed a round of Jagermeister shots with friends.

Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones - who was earlier spotted in the VIP MTV/Nokia Jockey Club tent - also watched the band's storming set from the side of the main stage, as did a healthy-looking Peter Doherty.

Stars Recreate Fame Dance Sequence

THE City of London was transformed into downtown Manhattan yesterday as Denise Van Outen and comedian Johnny Vegas recreated the dance sequence from musical Fame.

Backed by a troupe of nearly 1,000 lycra-clad dancers, the unlikely pair leapt and jigged around a New York yellow cab and American fire hydrants to the theme of the hit show.

Members of the public were invited to join the event, swelling the numbers of professional dancers packing Worship Street, near Liverpool Street station.

Comedian Vegas wore a neon green vest top and headband as he camped it up, slithering in the suds of the soapy bonnet of a car while Van Outen jumped from the door of a yellow cab to join the street party.

Vegas said: "I wouldn't call what I was doing dancing, it's a broad interpretation of rhythm. My style is a bit of pagan, a bit of spiritualism - I allowed the music to possess me.

"Fame isn't one of my favourite musicals because I'm envious that I can't dance. I see it as a weeper because it's what I could have been. It's not very glamorous when you're at college doing pottery, you don't randomly break into song."

DAME Judi Dench was named today the nation's favourite female role model in a survey carried out as part of a search to find the UK's real women of substance.

The actress came top of the poll of 1,000 British women between the ages of 18 and 65, 70 per cent of whom said she had real substance.

Dame Judi was followed by Joanna Lumley and Julie Walters, with JK Rowling and round-the-world yachtswoman Ellen McArthur in joint fourth position.

LADY GaGa is due to perform an exclusive concert for thousands of young charity work volunteers.

The flamboyant New York pop star will join British groups The Enemy and N-Dubz at the Orange RockCorps gig at Manchester Apollo.

More than 3,000 people secured a ticket by putting in four hours of hard work at community-based projects in Manchester.

They took part in the music-led programme which addressed issues as diverse as social deprivation, urban regeneration and support for people affected by HIV.

Ross Kemp signs 12-show deal with Sky

FORMER Eastenders bad boy turned frontline docu drama action man, Ross Kemp, has signed a new deal to make 12 factual programmes for the Sky satellite network.

Kemp, who played hardman Grant Mitchell in the BBC1 soap, has found a new niche with real-life documentaries reporting on issues such as modern pirates, international street gangs and the ordinary soldier's experience of conflict in Afghanistan.

The 43-year-old won a Bafta for best factual series in 2007 for Ross Kemp on Gangs. He left Eastenders in 1999 but has made a number of sporadic appearances.

Talking about the contract Kemp said he would put his 'heart and soul' into the shows and 'tell the stories no one else is telling'.

Exact details of the shows have not been revealed. Kemp will make six hour-long shows each year for two years.

Hollywood hunks, Jackman and Craig to share stage

TWO of the hottest action movie stars around are set to team up for a theatrical production.

X-Men and Wolverine star, Hugh Jackman and 007 hunk, Daniel Craig, will appear in Broadway production, A Steady Rain, a play about two Chicago policemen and how the events of a few days change their lives forever.

Jackman, 40, has appeared on the New York stage before and won a Tony for his role in the musical, The Boy from Oz, but James Bond star, Craig, 41, will be making his Broadway debut, although he has appeared in the West End.

Scott Mallalieu, president of Broadway ticket agency, Group Sales, said he expected every performance to be a sell-out.

Other Hollywood names to hit the New York stage this year include Geoffrey Rush, Susan Sarandon, Will Ferrell and James Gandolfini.

A Steady Rain is expected to open on September 29 and run for 12 weeks. Previews begin on September 10 at the Schoenfeld Theatre

Jim Carrey's gonna be a grand-daddy

Jim Carrey's rock musician daughter Jane Carrey is expecting her first child.

Jane, 21, who sings for the Jane Carrey Band (who?) is expecting with fiance Alex Santana of the rock band, Blood Money.

"I am very excited," Jim, 47, said in a statement. "Jane is going to be a great mom."

Jane is the Liar Liar star's daughter with his first wife Melissa.
