<p>My family were involved in trying to save the zoo.  </p>

<p>We made friends with the people that were looking after everything; they lived in their caravan next to the bungalow.<br />

<p>Apart from the animals, one of their overriding memories is likely to be the giant fibreglass Zulu warrior that towered above the entrance to the site now occupied by the Coventry & Warwickshire Health and Racquets Club in Abbey Road.</p>]]></description>

            <title>Willenhall once a stopping point for Coventry-bound pilgrims</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>The Coventry suburb of Willenhall, to the south-east of the city, was originally a hamlet and known as a stopping point for pilgrims on their way to the city.</p>

<p>An early chapel, dedicated to St James, which stood between the present Gunton and Knightlow avenues, was built around 1150 as a safe place to rest and pray en-route to the Coventry priory and cathedral.</p>

<p>Records show that the monks of Coombe were given part of the village of Binley by one landowner in return for retirement for himself and his wife in the Cistercian monastery.<br />

<p>In his duties at Westminster he also acts as chairman of the Labour Party Departmental Committee for the Treasury; secretary of the All-Party Funerals and Bereavement Group; and is a member of the Select Committee on the Lord Chancellor's Department.</p>

<p>He says of his constituency: "Coventry South covers parts of Coventry City centre, a variety of residential areas and also University of Warwick campus. The constituency holds residents of many different ethnic and working backgrounds, which contributes to the culturally rich and active communities that I serve."</p>
