NEWS that Coventry's most famous fish and chip shop has been threatened with closure revived memories of the restaurant for former manager David Chignell.

The 84-year-old, of Brentwood Avenue, Finham, managed Fishy Moore's for 14 years and recalled the lengthy queues outside on the day that the shop moved from New Buildings to Fairfax Street in the late 1960s.

50 years of all that Jazz in Binley

By Pete Chambers's Backbeat

IT all began back in the early 1950's, when friends Brian Bates, Dave 'Spud' Taylor, Dave Wagstaff and Len Young happened to spy a Coventry Carnival parade.

Along came a lorry with a band playing on it,

"They had a stripped-down piano, string bass, drums, banjo, trumpet, clarinet and trombone" said Brian.

Part of holiday fun was 112-mile cycle ride

A RECENT Pic of the Past featured the old Co-op Holiday Camp near Rhyl, and we asked if anyone had memories of the camp - nicknamed 'Coventry by the Sea'.

The camp was a popular destination for many Coventry families from the 30s to the 60s.

Whether it was tents or chalets, Coventry people loved to get away from it all and enjoy the sea air, and by the end of 1966 250,000 people had stayed at the camp.

Here's another of your stories...MEMORIES of "Coventry by the Sea" prompted 91- year-old Ron Atkins to dig out his old family albums.
