EON volunteers create wildlife haven for kids at St Bartholomew's Church of England primary school

By Rebecca Bieniaszewska

Volunteers from E.ON have created an outdoor classroom with a difference at St Bartholomew's Church of England primary school by transforming an outdoor area into a 'forest school'.

The team created pathways, a bird hide, bird houses and a log store at the school in Bredon Avenue, refreshing a reading area and vegetable patch, and planting strawberries.

KING Henry VIII are celebrating being crowned Coventry Schools under-12s champions after they inflicted a 24-0 defeat on Coundon Court in the final at Old Coventrians.

In a competitive clash, Coundon pressed for most of the opening half without being able to breach a disciplined opposing defence and all that divided the teams at the interval was an early try by Jake McLannaghan.

By Tina Junday

A HEAD groundsman is to quit his job after his school refused to install security cameras on its sports fields.

Derek Shearer, aged 54, who lives and works at King Henry VIII School's Playing Fields, on the A45 Stonebridge Highway, says he has been fighting a seven-year battle with the school to provide better security for him and his son, Luke, aged 21.

The final straw for him was a break-in last Thursday night in which three of his son's motorbikes, worth £2,000, were stolen along with school equipment including a lawnmower.
