Hey crafters! Easter is on it's way and I needed some fast and easy little gifts for the adults. Every year we ahve a really small but fun Easter party. We put out eggs over 2 acres and let the little ones have at it. Hopefully this year it won't rain this year and we will get to be outside the whole time.

These tins are from Stampin Up, as is the paper and ink. I have no idea where the rub-on came from to be honest, it was just in my stash. I had to try using a rub-on right onto the clear cover of the tin and I have some advice: Go slow and hold your hand on the back of the lid. It needs support and if you go slow you will avoid slipping.

4 bunny peeps fit perfectly in the tin. I'm all about presentation of little gifts. For some reason that makes me happy. lol

5 Minute Unity Candles

Unity candles are usually frilly, which did not suit this wedding at all. No lace, no beads... This is a 5 minute untiy candle set using a pillar and two tapers. The candles are simply wrapped with the matching ribbon and have a crystal monogram layered right on. Anyone can do this. You can use double sided tape or hot glue for the ribbon.

Just thought I'd share as an idea for inexpensive and non-froo froo wedding stuff. I wish I had this picture in color but that wedding was a while back. Eh, you get the idea. :)

Dry Erase Board

Yay! More stuff! :) Okay so this really awesome lady over at Stamp That had this idea about using the felt flowers on a tile (which makes a really cool little dry erase board). I've seen these tiles made all sorts of way but for some reason the felt flowers just really got me wanting to make one.

So how easy is this? So easy you could do it in your sleep. I've read about people baking the tiles, sealing the tiles ect ect...You know that's not for me. Honestly, I don't do any of that. If you use shiny tiles you don't need to do any of that. Just get the most shiny smooth tile you find on the tile isle and you're good to go.

Ready to make one? It's really just glue dot on embellishments, stamp with staz on and put some felt on the back. I do suggest cleaning the tile with a damp cloth once in a while when changing it. Like any dry erase board they do develop a weird haze after a while and need to be cleaned.

Some info: The tiles I used are 6x6 and are from Lowe's. You can use any size. I use pre-adhesive felt on the back but you can also glue on (I reccomend using e-600 glue) magnets and put this on your fridge. The ink, ribbon and Sweet Pea Felt Flowers are from Stampin Up and you can get them on my online shop.

Little cheese burger cupcakes...

I don't really know how I feel about these but I made them. It's really easy too.

It's just a cut in half vanilla cupcake with a slice of chocolate in the midde. The cheese is fondant, I just squirted some red buttercreme for ketsup and leaf tip lettuce. It's really very easy.

100th Post! Altered Stuff

Hey bloggers! This is my 100th post. YAY!

Okay lets play with altering stuff on the major cheap. These two things combined were $1.88. The calendar is from the $1 tree and the acrylic frame is from Wal-Mart. So lets see what I made with them...

I have a pack of post it notes and some scrap paper, ink pens and ribbon. So this is super easy when you save your scraps. Lets get to it.

Lay the frame down with the tallest part at the top. From this angleit looks like it standing up but it should be laying down. Cut the paper down to slide into the frame. Using your favorite glue, stick the post its to the frame. Now decorate with ribbon and so on. I stamped the top one so when it's given it looks nicer.

For the calendar you just need to fold it back and remove the protective clear sleeve, glue paper and decorate. When you're done make sure nothing is over hanging the cover and slide the cover back on. These make great little gifts and they are obviously very cheap and easy. Happy crafting!!

I used to be totally opposed to stamping flowers and then cutting them out. No offense to anyone but I just thought they looked bland.

So I gave it a shot or two and I will admit - I was wrong. I love this card. I cut it out and then just folded up the petals. I dig it.

Cake Day! warning One cake is adult!!

Okay so I had a couple cakes to make for this weekend. One is a baby shower cake.

This cake is for an expecting mom of twins. They know that one of the babies is a girl the other is a mystery! They were told it was a boy then they were told maybe it's a girl. lol So the cake was changed to be either way. The yellow and green could go either way. The cake and fugures are fondant.

I've never made people of any kind, not babies or anything... So go easy on me. It's a first try. I love trying new things. This is need more practice at.

I also think the babies are too small for the crib. When I showed the pic to my mother she said "Well, that's how they look as newborns - Tiny in a huge crib" lol So maybe she has a point... or maybe she was trying to make me feel better about it. lol

So I also made a corset cake for another friend. She has a corset that its silver and black and I made his to match.

It's not super vulgar or anything but I know some people are uncomfortable with these kinds of cakes. After going through Cake Central's Adult cake sections nothing makes me blush. Some of those cakes... well lets just say they don't leave anything to the imagination on a naked body cake. :/

Anyway this is a marble cake, which is fun to make, that is carved into the corset shape. I think this corset looks better than my last. The silver tips on the roses, laces and star are painted on with luster dust in vanilla. If you can believe it I free-handed her name! I'm shocked at myself.

Old Pages into Flowers

These have been popping up every where and I just love them. Okay are you ready to make them?

1. Punch out 5 scallop circles.
*Optional: Ink or spray the pages before punching them.
2. Put a brad though all 5 layers.
3. Starting with the layer on top (head of the brad), grab it and scrunch it into the middle. Yes, scrunch is a techinical term lol.
4. Now just do that to the next 3 leaving the bottom one alone.
5. Gently spread the layers back from the center to reveal the brad again. You're done. Stick it to your projects. Isn't that cute?!

Calendar for my purse

You know those cheap $2 planners that are really ugly? I do too. Ew. That means it's time to craft!

Open that thing up and cover the stock image cover with your favorite paper. I hit my scrap bin for this one. The stamp was free from Stampin' Up. I dig the little birdie!

You don't need directions for that. Just go forth and scrapbook on anything that holds still long enough!

A surprise for my honey...

Valentines morning my honey will have this on the back of the laptop. :) It's just a little surprise to say that I was thinking about you!

It's white vinyl (or shelf liner) that I cut using my Cricut and stuck to the back of the laptop. It's easy to get on and off. Done gently, it doesn't damange the surface at all and comes off clean so this type of thing is great for special occasions.

My sweetheart doens't like pink. Big shock huh? All we see is pink and red Valentines and that really isn't practical unless we are making them for the kids to take to school. Even then do the boys really like getting all that pink? I'm sure kids don't care as long as they get candy. lol! Here's my little gift box to my not-so-hot-on-pink Valentine.

Here is a video tutorial on this box for those of you who have seen the patterns but are having a hard time getting it down. I tried to make it way too complicated when I started making them. I'll post it when it gets up.

More Valentines... Etched Glass Love

So I decided to use some shelf liner (you can use vinyl if you don't mind trashing it when you're done) to make a special vase for my Valentine's flowers.

Using my video tutorial here, I etched this vase. It was really fast and fun. I did have to etch twice. I wasn't going to try to do the heart outline and the initials at the same time. :) I would have messed that up. If you want the heart .svg file (Cricut/SCAL users) I'll upload it later to my free svg blog.

Am I making Valentine's stuff already??!

Yes. Dang it. I admit it! Okay!!! I'm a dork and that's just how it is. My daugther's making Pixie Stick heart Valentines for her little classmates. I made this first trial one so see if I got the cut files right.

We use our Cricut to cut svg files we made. I posted it on the svg blog in case you want the heart too.

The tin is from Stampin' Up, as are the ink and stamps. I used a rub-on on the stop of the tin to make it more pretty. The candy on the inside is Hershey's nuggets. All pretty easy stuff. Cut, glue and give!

The pencil can is just scrap paper around a soup can. The little one loves to change the paper on her can for whatever season or holiday is coming up. She got tired of the blue with snowflakes. lol. She's ready for Spring already!

Getting organized - Cards

Hey! Hope you all had a great holiday and new year celebration!

I have been looking for things that were small enough to store/organize my handmade cards in but was cute and cheap. The perfect solution? Make it out of a box. I shame to admit it but the Hambuger Helper box is the perfect size.

I drew a line from the top corner to the point I wanted as the bottom of the slant. Using a ruler, I made a straight line and cut the box. I used the first side I cut to be a template for the other side. Then I just covered it with that awesome paper I had from Archivers and wrapped my favorite Stampin' Up ribbon around it.

I'm going to make a few more of these as I have boxes. I want one for holidays, one for birthday cards and another for misc cards I make (love notes, thank you ect).

Peanut Butter Snowflakes

More food?! Yea, it's that time of year. These are an adapted family peanut butter ball recipe.

1 1/3 cups of crunchy peanut butter
1 1/2 cups of softened butter
1 pound of powdered sugar

Mix until creamy, I use my kitchen aid. Roll the dough out and you can make them into balls or cut them into shapes.

Melt one package of chocolate bark or whatever chocolate you have on hand.
Once they are cold and firm melt chocolate and drizzle or dip with it. I also dusted powdered sugar over them after the chocolate cooled.

My little girl did these. She really likes drizzling chocolate.

Easy Christmas Calendar

Okay for those of you who don't know, I do a LOT of crafting with my little daughter, Aurora. She's 8. I'm not sure how that happened so quickly but... I'm dealing with it. lol The other day she wanted to make a countdown calendar (I guess the advent calendar with candy in it wasn't enough). Hehehee!

So it's really just a binder clip, a coaster chipboard thingy and some paper. We printed the numbers out, stamped Dasher (Stampin' Up) and TaDa! It's so easy you don't even need directions but hopefully if you had some of these extra coaster things laying around now you have an idea on how to use one. :) Merry Christmas!!

I'm a little behind on my scrapbook for 2009. Who isn't right? Here's Aurora's 8th birthday party. We did cupcake decorating. All the girls had so much fun.

How's that page for freaking cupcake overload? Ha! I even found brads that were cupcakes.

Aurora asked me if she can have a Halloween birthday next year. That should be fun...

Aurora is a Witch!

So... this is the first year that my little girl has asked to be anything that wasn't a fairy or a princess (or a fairy princess) lol! She wanted to be a witch. She saw a tutu on Etsy that she really liked and we knewn we could make. So we set out to make her Halloween costume. Grand total for everything she wanted: $7. Can you believe that??

She is wearing black pants and a black shirt she had already. The tulle is from Joann's (with a coupon). I hot glued a spider to an orange ribbon bracelet and tack stitched another spider to her hat.

Obviously there is no makeup on her in this picture, not that I plan on putting much on her other than lipstick, and she is squinting from the sun. It literally takes about 3 minutes to make a bracelet out of ribbon and hot glue something on it so if you're looking for a very last minute costume addition you might give this a try. :)

Forgive me for my pictures. You all know by now that I'm no photographer. How cool is that view of my front yard though? Across the street is a beautiful old red barn and the trees are starting to look so beautiful. I'm so lucky!! I hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween!!!

Halloween Layout

I love inking. Who doesn't really?? Something so simple really changes the way a whole page looks. I did this layout for the scrapbook store in Sherwood, called Just Scrap It. We did a workshop to get people comfortable with inking, ribbon using and rub-ons. I'm addicted to all of those things.

I swear I have enough ribbon to wrap around the world twice. lol! All my friends have an on-going joke about how much I just *need* more ribbon. I have tried to explain the rule to them...

Anyway, what do you think of this layout? The pumpkin is just three ovals punched out, inked and glued. The stem is a little bit of SU! ribbon just glued on. Gotta love those punches. : ) Happy Halloween!

Halloween Tree - Nightmare Before Christmas

Last year we made a small Halloween tree and my little girl wanted to do it again this year but bigger! Do you know how hard it is to find Christmas ornaments that can pass for Halloween tree ornaments? Nearly impossible in Little Rock. So guess what? We made them!

This is great for Christmas too. We have a black and white Christmas and soild ornaments of either color are a little harder to find so we made some of our own last year too.

Materials: Use glitter glue and glitter (I used Martha's glitter and glue. My Christmas ones look just as good this year as they did when they left my craft room last November.) The ornaments are the "design your own" clear glass that you find at any craft store.

Halloween Ornaments: Using vinyl, shelf liner or any sticky back paper (the jack-o-lantern ornaments we used mailing labels) cut out your design. For detailed designs, like my skull, I reccomend vinyl or shelf liner. You can cut the design where the bubbles are and carefully work around making some areas overlap, make sure it's stuck down good.

Coat the ornament in glitter glue, working carefully around the design not to get a whole mess of glue under the vinyl. Pour glitter over the ornament, catch the excess glitter on a piece of paper or in a glittler tray. Tap off the excess from the ornament (tap on the top metal part). I removed my vinyl while the glue was still a little wet. Tweezers or a paper pirecer are great for that part. Let dry - I mean it. You have to let it dry between colors.

Using a small paintbrush, "paint" glittler glue into the places where you removed the vinyl (where your second color goes). Put your second color glitter into that space, tap off excess and let dry. You're done! The hardest part is waiting for it to dry. :)

Cupcake Chocolates: How to included

My daughter's birthday party is tomorrow! She is 8!! Her real birthday was yesterday but we know better than to have a party during the week now. :)

I just made these "cupcakes" from chocolate candy melts. They were super easy and anything to add to the cupcake party theme is a good thing right? I didn't plan on these but I was in the kitchen and remembered that I had these candy melts so why not try to use them.

In case anyone wonders how to make these it's really easy. I used a chocolate mini-cup mold, chocolate candy melts, disposable icing bags and an icing tip. All from Micheals. Heat the brown and pour it into the cup mold. Sitck it in the freezer. When they are hard release them fromt he mold. Heat the pink candy melts, pour into the bag with the icing tip and "ice" the top of the cups. Stick the whole things in the freezer until they are hard. The pink part "iced" better when it was cooled a little. If it's really really hot it will melt down into a lump. That's it.

I put ours in little favor bags and tied them with pink and brown cupcake ribbon.
