Chicken update

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Mon, 03 Dec 2012 02:48:00 +0000

So we ended up with 2 new friends for Simba, our current surviving chicken. We have Buzz Lightyear (picture to come soon) as well as King Julian (pictures coming). Yes, our chickens are all named after characters. Currently we are getting 2 eggs a day.

Holden's 3 year old checkup

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Wed, 28 Nov 2012 17:16:00 +0000

Today we went for his well visit and he was 32.5 lbs (75%) and 38 1/4 inches (also 75%). Gloria was very pleased with him and we are thinking he's going to be a leftie! We are thankful for a healthy Holden!

Tacos

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Wed, 28 Nov 2012 00:08:00 +0000

Oh my goodness...tonight at dinner (in one sitting) Brady ate 7 (yes 7!) hard shell tacos! Holy moly! I'm talking he ate the shell, black beans, meat, and cheese in each one of them. Can you say growth spurt?!

Just to let you know I may transition in the next week or so to having my blog passworded. I have recently had some random people commenting (which I've blocked because I don't know them). I just wanted to give you a heads up.

Resignation

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Wed, 21 Nov 2012 00:48:00 +0000

I'm SUPER excited to tell you that Josh and I agreed this past weekend to step out on faith like we feel God is leading us to do and I resigned from my job yesterday!!! I'll work until the end of the semester (ends Dec 20). We really feel like I need to be home again with the boys and so that's where I'm going to be!!! YAY! So thankful!

Celebrating #3 for Holden

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Tue, 13 Nov 2012 02:04:00 +0000

One of my favorite Holden shots...he's so focused on the tv that he doesn't realize his thumb isn't in his mouth :)

We went to play at the Children's Museum and then went to Moe's so Holden could have a quesadilla

Then doughnuts!

Birthdays galore

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Tue, 13 Nov 2012 01:58:00 +0000

We gathered together to celebrate Grie's birthday but all the November birthdays helped blow out the candles (Grie, Carole, Carley and Holden).

Drawing

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Tue, 13 Nov 2012 01:55:00 +0000

This is one of the first drawings that Brady has brought home where he drew himself. He is on the left and Josh is on the right. Brady said they are washing a fire truck.

Halloween carnival

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Tue, 13 Nov 2012 01:52:00 +0000

I was able to go to Brady's preschool class for a few minutes on Halloween to see him and his friends attended their Halloween carnival.

Pumpkin Party #2

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Tue, 13 Nov 2012 01:48:00 +0000

Several weeks ago we had our second annual pumpkin carving party. Just like last year, the kids are more interested in eating and playing, but that's okay :)

There's Holden, sucking down a Capri Sun at every chance!

Harper wanted a dolphin, so that's what her daddy did

Gotta have smores too

9 kids and 7 adults = worn out everyone!

Chickens

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Tue, 13 Nov 2012 01:37:00 +0000

About a week and a half ago we decided to give 2 more chickens a try after our last escapade (which lasted about 30 min before the chickens were gone in the woods). We got Simba and Rafiki. (named from the Lion King movie) We've gotten an egg each day which is EXCITING!!! Here is Brady holding our first egg.

Holden and Simba

Rafiki. I'm sad to say that as of last night Rafiki is no longer with us. Our dumb dogs got into the cage. We are very sad about this and Josh is in the process of putting up extra protection for Simba. We hope to give Simba a new friend later this week.

Zoo with Grandpa

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Tue, 13 Nov 2012 01:27:00 +0000

A few weekends ago while I was at a baby shower and Josh had to work, Grandpa and the boys went to the zoo. Here are some pictures from their adventures! They got to see the special dinosaur exhibit.

Farewell Emily

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Tue, 13 Nov 2012 01:13:00 +0000

Since Holden is now 3 and is going to Preschool, we no longer need Emily to keep him during the day which is bittersweet. She's been such a blessing to us. Here Holden is saying "goodbye" to Emily and Ila.

Emily and Ila also came to Holden's birthday party!

1st day of Preschool - Holden

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Tue, 13 Nov 2012 01:08:00 +0000

Holden turned 3 yesterday! So he got to start 3 year old Preschool at Central Methodist just like Brady. He has Mrs. Dickerson and she said they had a great day. He even took a nap at rest time and only had trouble getting along with his brother when they were in the same class in the afternoon. He walked right in this morning and was happily playing when I arrived.

How to Cook a Turkey

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Mon, 12 Nov 2012 23:36:00 +0000

I have quite a few posts to catch up on and they may not be in chronological order. There will be lots of pictures coming soon.
In the mean time, at preschool Brady was asked "how to cook a turkey" for their class book. Brady said
"Shoot him with a gun, pull the hair off and cook him for 10 minutes on super hot. Cut him with a knife and eat him with a fork. "

Cousins

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Wed, 07 Nov 2012 00:42:00 +0000

Sunday evening we celebrated Grandma Cox's birthday. We had a great time and the boys loved seeing their cousins. They met their newest cousin, Addison, too.

Cheese

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Wed, 07 Nov 2012 00:36:00 +0000

Holden LOVES cheese!!! When he was allergic to cow's milk (which he still slightly is), he couldn't have any cheese. Now it seems he is making up for lost time. The following pictures are a REGULAR occurrence whenever I'm grating cheese. He steals the block of cheese to gnaw on.

Thankful

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Wed, 07 Nov 2012 00:24:00 +0000

Amy: What are you thankful for tonight?
Holden: The Nooth Grush on my Tooth Brush.

Thank you, Dr. Seuss :)

Happy Halloween 2012!

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Thu, 01 Nov 2012 01:11:00 +0000

Hurricane Sandy's wind was not helping Holden's hat stay on for trunk or treat!

Buddies

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Fri, 26 Oct 2012 10:53:00 +0000

Here is Holden and Ila (6 months old) swinging at the park. Ila is Emily's little girl (Emily is Holden's nanny during the day). Emily says that Holden is a good helper and makes Ila laugh a lot.
Yesterday Emily said Holden was dragging her across the floor pulling her leg and Ila was laughing the whole way!

Hot Air Balloon Festival

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Tue, 23 Oct 2012 00:07:00 +0000

Saturday we went to Statesville to watch the hot air balloons lift off from the festival.

I think we counted 43 balloons.

Nana and Grandpa

Tia and Char

We stopped at Cracker Barrel to eat and celebrate Tia's birthday. Brady said his favorite part was playing checkers with Tia and Char and he didn't get jumped.
We also listened to the Pack win on the way home which brightened up the fact that Josh's car had broken down that day.
Before we left that afternoon I gave Holden one of his birthday presents a little early, knowing they'd enjoy it on the car ride to Statesville. Here is his reaction:

Prayer time

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Wed, 17 Oct 2012 00:39:00 +0000

At bedtime each night during our prayers we ask our boys what they are thankful for that day. Tonight here is how my conversation with Holden went:
Amy: Holden, what are you thankful for today?
Holden: timeout
Amy: You are thankful for timeout?
Holden: uh huh
Amy: Do you like timeout?
Holden: uh huh

Well, fabulous :)

Pumpkin Patch

noreply@blogger.com (Amy) — Tue, 16 Oct 2012 17:13:00 +0000

We've started a new tradition. Heading to a new, local pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkins. It was a wonderful, friendly environment.
5 acres of pumpkins!

He found his pumpkin!

And began rolling it to the path

So heavy...

Uh oh, it started rolling back down the hill

Snipping his pumpkin

Got it
