Maggie Sefton's series about the owner of a needlework shop has a new book--the first hardcover for her, there's a new Joanne Fluke about Hannah Swensen and all the trouble that's cooked up in Eden Lake, Minnesota where she owns "The Cookie Jar," and, well, bookstories and libraries are dangerous places right now for my time and money budgets!

What is a "cozy" mystery?

A little about cozies, with recommendations for a few series to start out with. Heck's series with Mark Twain as a central character. The story is told by his secretary (shades of Holmes and Watson?). I confess that I haven't gotten to the mystery part of it, yet, even though I'm well into the book, but I'm enjoying it, just the same.

Another heroine in a historical cozy

I find some of my favorite mysteries by perusing the listing of titles and series by other authors in some paperback mysteries. (It's sort of like navigating around the web, and getting lost "linking around.") Yes, Glynis is an early feminist, having chosen college and a career over marriage. Along with her friends Cullen, the local constable, and Jeremy, a local lawyer, Glynis solves mysteries (between rounds of golf, as near as I can tell, so far...) The series begins with "Seneca Falls Inheritance;" the author is Miriam Grace Monfredo.

<media:rating>nonadult</media:rating>
