Team Chaos extended their winning streak to four games last night with a 10-6 victory over the Grace Warriors. This puts the team’s season record at 6-2 and keeps them firmly entrenched in second place in the ultra competitive Thursday Co-Ed D-Rec league, with the playoffs only a few weeks away.

While the Chaos pulled out a relatively easy victory, the team continues to battle injuries. On the positive side, Brett McInnis took over his usual position at shortstop after several weeks of rehab on his injured hamstring and All-Star pitcher Cydney Moora continues to take the mound each week, despite playing with a broken hand. On the downside, the team may have lost infielder Chris Cantzler to a potentially season ending knee injury which occurred while playing in a competitive soccer league. Team officials seem less than pleased with Cantzler’s injury situation.

“Every player is expected to steer clear of non-softball activities that carry the serious risk of injury,” said Manager Kacy Manning. “Our player contracts specifically prohibit activities like skiing, football, soccer, motorcycle riding, bull fighting, playing Nintendo Wii, skydiving, alligator wrestling, pole vaulting, playing Catch Phrase, and swimming with sharks.”

With two games remaining in the regular season, the team faces a number of key challenges heading into the playoffs. Can the players avoid any additional injuries? Can Jamal Parker and Brian Chase continue to produce highlight reel catches in every game? Will Aimee Taublieb keep terrifying opposing teams with her blazing speed on the bases?

Next week the Team Chaos takes on Ben Franklin Elec for the first time in both teams’ histories. It promises to be a monumental grudge match between two teams that have never met before.

“Just because we haven’t ever played this team or met any of their players, it doesn’t mean this isn’t a historic rivalry of epic proportions,” said Team Chaos co-Manager Jaclyn Charles. “If the team needs any extra motivation, I think this is the team with that one guy who did something early this season that I heard was really aggravating to everybody in the league…or maybe that was someone on our team…I’m not sure…but, I do know we really want to beat Thomas Jefferson Elementary…or whatever their team is called again.”

Last Friday, 15 Media Breakaway team members stepped away from their offices for the day to pick up hammers and paint brushes and donate their time to Habitat for Humanity. The team worked on a project in Boulder, CO to provide housing for five families in need.

“Giving back to the community is one of the most important and rewarding things that companies and individuals can do, which is why we developed the Media Breakaway Makes a Difference Program,” said Steven Richter, President and General Counsel for Media Breakaway. “We are dedicated to supporting organizations that bring about positive change in our local community and working with Habitat for Humanity provides a perfect opportunity for us to put our program into action.”

The Media Breakaway Makes a Difference program is a community support effort geared toward providing assistance for various charitable organizations in the Denver metro area. Through the program, Media Breakaway provides financial support, as well as volunteer hours to numerous groups throughout the year.

“While providing financial support is an important part of the program, we really focus on getting our employees involved by giving them opportunities to donate their time and get hands-on experience in supporting different charitable organizations,” said Richter. “Our hope is that every team member comes away from the experience with a greater appreciation of the positive impact they can have on other people’s lives.”

Employee support for the Habitat for Humanity project was so high that a second group of 10 Media Breakaway team members will be heading out to the project site on July 11 to continue the work. The company is also looking at the possibility of adding a third day, to accommodate every team member who wants to participate.

Media Breakaway is in the process of planning the company’s next large community support project, which will take place later this year. Last winter, the company provided support to a local Salvation Army facility, helping to deliver toys and meals over the holidays to local families in need.

After last week's dominating victory, Team Chaos took sole possession of second place in the league standings. This week would bring a rematch against third place team, the Blue Bombers. The teams played a tight game in their first meeting, with the Chaos pulling out a victory in extra innings. But, no one could have anticipated the game that took place last night.

Similar to the first meeting, the teams traded runs throughout the early innings, neither club able to build a significant lead. The back and forth battle continued as time began to wind down. With the score at 12-10 in favor of the Bombers, and less than a minute on the clock, the Chaos scrambled to take the field and get the next inning underway before time ran out. (League rules stipulate that once an inning is started, it must be completed.)

If there was ever a time for a manager to step up, and pull her team together, this was the time. Having given many key motivational speeches in her time, manager Kacy Manning briefly considered which great speech she would draw from. One of George Patton's speeches to his troops? Winston Churchill calling his nation together in a time of crisis? Knute Rockne imploring his team to win one for the Gipper? Phil Jackson's Zen approach? John Belushi's 'it's not over' speech from Animal House? Sadly, time was running short and Manning only had time to utter "go team" and run out to her position.

With less than five seconds on the clock, pitcher Cydney Moora got the first pitch across the plate for a strike - ensuring that one more inning would be played. The Bombers had no intention of going quietly and put three more runs on the board in their half of the inning. The Chaos now faced a 15-10 deficit as they came up to bat for the last time.

Demonstrating the character the team has become known for during the short inaugural softball season, the Chaos began to chip away, cutting the lead to 15-13. With two runners on base, it came down to Aimee Taublieb to earn the title of hero...or goat. Taublieb, a true Cinderella story, walked on with the team during spring training and earned a roster spot with her tremendous enthusiasm - despite her knowledge of the game being somewhat lacking.

Taublieb, whose biggest claim to fame had been coming to practice with the wrong-handed glove, looked her manager in the eye and said confidently "You can count on me coach. I know what I need to do. I'm going to score a touchdown."

As Taublieb stepped to the plate, a hush fell over the capacity crowd. Players on both teams held their collective breaths, as the first pitch soared toward the plate. With the world watching, Taublieb sent a screaming line drive up the middle. The shortstop made a diving stop and unleashed a hurried throw toward first base, knowing he had to offset Taublieb's blazing speed. While she was called out by an eyelash, both runners scored on the play - tying the game at 15!

Riding this wave of momentum, two of the next Chaos batters (Jamal Parker and Joe Lochi) ripped line drives into the outfield, putting across the the winning run! Players and fans stormed the field in celebration of what was arguably one of the most exciting finishes in sports history.

This win solidifies the Chaos position in second place and begins to set up a potential historic slugfest against the Band of Misfits for the league championship. Stay tuned to your weekly Affiliate Newsletter over the rest of the season, as Team Chaos prepares for the postseason.

Last week, Team Chaos suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Band of Misfits – the only team to ever defeat Team Chaos on the softball field. To add injury to insult, star pitcher Cydney Moora suffered a broken hand late in the game, on a screaming line drive off the bat of one Misfit.

The team had little time to dwell on the loss, as a rainout makeup game was scheduled for last Saturday. Despite the incredible challenges faced in fielding a team on a weekend where half of the players were out of town, coach Manning pulled together a ragtag lineup and prepared to take the field. At this point, it became apparent that the other team been intimidated by the Chaos juggernaut – as they failed to show up for the game. Thus, the Chaos took a forfeit win over the weekend.

Fresh off this momentum building win, the team prepared to take on Team DEI for the first time in franchise history last night. With two injured players, pitcher Moora and shortstop Bret McInnis, and several other unavailable regulars, the team faced a tough challenge in pulling together a lineup. With a few last minute call-ups, the team pulled together enough players to take the field – with Moora deciding to play through her broken hand and McInnis moving to first base to ease the load on his injured hamstring.

Perhaps because of the makeshift team, the team seemed to take their intensity up a notch – as if they had made a collective decision that they simply would not lose. With a sense of confidence and impending victory, the team took an early 5-0 lead in the first inning on a succession of hits by Brian Chase, Joe Lochi, Steve Richter, Jamal Parker, Bret McInnis, Kacy Manning, and Cydney Moora. However, before the inning was over the team faced a new challenge. Recent call-up Jennifer Pachello suffered a leg injury while beating out an infield single. Attempting to run the bases, it became clear that she would have to leave the game.

Even with the early lead, the outcome was far from secure as the team would need to play in the field without a full complement of players. Sensing the moment had come to inspire her team, Manning called the players together in the dugout for a pep talk.

“The best coach I ever played for once said something that inspired our team to victory,” said Manning. “He said if you win today, everyone gets ice cream. That day, our group of 5 year old Little Kicker’s became an unstoppable force on the soccer field. So, what do you say…who wants ice cream!!!???”

With Manning’s words ringing in their ears, and thoughts of Dairy Queen in their minds, the Chaos took the field with utter determination. Every player seemed to take their game to a new level, highlighted by the stellar defensive play of Bret “Roomba” McInnis at first base vacuuming up a variety of throws in the dirt. Inning after inning, the team continued their domination, eventually tacking on five runs in the fifth inning to put the finishing touches on a 17-6 victory.

The season is now past the halfway mark and the Chaos are tied for second place with a 4-2 record. With four games remaining before the playoffs, the Chaos are primed to carry their winning streak into the postseason and an eventual matchup with bitter rivals – the Band of Misfits.

Stay tuned to your weekly newsletter for updates on the remainder of the season as Team Chaos stays in the hunt for their first ever softball championship!

Last night, the Chaos came up against the Band of Misfits - the only team to ever defeat the Chaos on the softball diamond. The team was looking for some serious payback after their first meeting, in which the Misfits employed the controversial Statue of Liberty offense to win the game.

As the Chaos took the field, they had no idea of the challenge that awaited them. The entire team looked very sharp in pregame warm-ups as everyone focused on sending the Misfits to their first loss of the season. The Misfits showed that they wouldn't go quietly, by putting up 7 quick runs in the first inning. However, the Chaos took the early runs in stride, showing the poise and confidence that has helped them to their current franchise record winning streak.

The team slowly chipped away at the Misfits' lead over the next few innings, highlighted by a scintillating inside-the-park home run by outfielder Brian Chase. With momentum in their favor, the Chaos were looking to put the final touches on a stunning come from behind victory, when fate stepped in to change the team's fortunes.

Star pitcher Moora took the mound in the top of the seventh inning, looking to hold the Misfits in check and set up the Chaos bats for what was sure to be a walk off win in their half of the inning. The first batter of the inning sent a blazing line drive back up the middle, which Moora snagged with cat-like reflexes, for out number one. However, fans and players alike let out a collective gasp at the sound when the ball hit Moora's glove.

"It was like a Joe Theisman moment out there," said manager Kacy Manning. "I saw players in the other dugout actually crying."
After a brief visit to the mound during which it was determined that Team Chaos had no other pitchers, Moora decided to stay in the game. Showing true Team Chaos spirit, she simply rubbed some dirt on her obviously broken hand (a secret pain reliever and injury treatment used by top players in many sports) and stepped back on the pitcher's mound to finish the game. Despite her tremendous courage, the Misfits saw their opportunity and took advantage of Moora's injury.

Even as the Misfits added several insurance runs in the inning, the capacity crowd took its feet and gave the embattled and injured Team Chaos pitcher a standing ovation for the remainder of the inning. Perhaps still stunned by the injury and sudden shift in the game, the Chaos were unable to mount the expected comeback and came up just short of winning the game.

With the season nearing the half-way mark, can Team Chaos pull together and make a run for the championship? Will Cydney Moora be able to come back from her broken hand before the end of the season? When will shortstop Bret McInnis be able to take the field again after his torn hamstring?

Westminster, CO June 13, 2008 - Media Breakaway, LLC, today announced that an Arbitrator has released a final ruling in the proceedings between MySpace, Inc. and Media Breakaway, which originated in January, 2007. The final award in favor of MySpace was 95% less than the amount demanded by MySpace, as the Arbitrator determined that "MySpace's demands are so disproportionate to proven actual damages, or Media Breakaway profits."

The Arbitrator ruled that while Media Breakaway should be held responsible for a number of unsolicited commercial bulletins sent to MySpace users in violation of MySpace's Terms of Use, the company could not be held responsible for the actions of certain affiliates who violated Media Breakaway's own affiliate terms and conditions.

"We respect the Arbitrator's findings regarding violations of MySpace's Terms of Use by certain rogue affiliates, particularly during 2006 when the concept of social networks was still developing. We acknowledged early on in this process that our Company should not profit from the sending of unsolicited commercial bulletins to MySpace users and offered to return any such profit to MySpace, and we repeatedly offered to work with MySpace to resolve mutual concerns," said Steven Richter, President and General Counsel for Media Breakaway.

Among the findings of the Arbitrator was the fact that the Company has "changed its policies and procedures over time, in dealing with affiliates...and other internet marketing issues". The Arbitrator also singled out the contributions of several key Media Breakaway team members in the development and improvement of the Company's compliance practices.

"We appreciate the Arbitrator's acknowledgement of the many steps we have taken as a company over recent years to improve our compliance practices and our methods of monitoring the activities of our affiliates," said Richter. "Our goal is to continuously enhance our compliance programs and exceed what is required by law and industry best practices."

"We are pleased to put this matter behind us, as we look toward the future to work with online companies to help define and implement advertising best practices for our industry," said Richter. "We firmly believe that positive changes in the online marketing industry come about through cross-industry cooperation and not through costly litigation."

The Chaos came into this week looking to build on their historic 2-game winning streak, but the team came up against an opponent they couldn’t overcome – the weather. Over 24 hours of steady rain put the field under water and apparently made the game unplayable.

“We were still ready to play,” said manager Kacy Manning. “Most of the team knows how to swim and we had the remaining players outfitted with water wings before game time.”

Despite the team’s obvious preparedness and complete willingness to take to the field in a collection of inner tubes, rafts, and an old metal canoe, the league decided that the game should be cancelled.

“Honestly, we felt the weather gave us a real advantage,” said outfielder Joe Lochi, through his snorkel and scuba mask. “Some of us went and practiced at the local waterpark over lunch. I’m telling you, trying to catch the ball while going down the waterslide is really tricky. But after several hours, we had it down pat.”

This marks the second game for Team Chaos that has been postponed during the young season. Will the revised schedule screw up the Chaos’ pitching rotation? Can the team get their deposit back on the wetsuits they bought for this week’s game? Only time will tell if the Chaos can overcome all this adversity and come out on top this season.
