6 new changing pads are finished and listed. There is some of my favorite 2 Dr. Seuss & sock monkey. Also new, 6 set of rag burp cloths in sock monkey, pink john deere, flowers & dots & owls. I will be taking pictures and listing those in the next couple of days. Today I delivered a large amount of items for consigment for Healthy Baby Boutique. They have 2 stores in Wichita. We got our first dusting of snow yesterday. We hardly get any snow at all where I am located.

I decided it was time for some cleaning out of items we either no longer sell or have not yet found a home and have been with us for a while. Inventory will be upon us at the end of the month. The less we have to count of items as well as fabric is good news to me. Craft Shows, Giveaway & Sales

Just finished my last craft show of the year. The show was ok but not spectacular. It rained for all my show this year, hopefully next year the weather is better.

I enjoy going to shows seeing and talking to other artists. I like buying handmade items too. This time I got some salsa for my brother for Christmas, soap & tea for me. I really love handmade soap this one is jasmine. It was was a local town. I enjoy tea, especially when it is cold out so today will be a perfect day to try some of it. On another note, I am gearing up for the holiday season. I've ordered my extra supplies. We are going to have rag stocking this year. I will show you one in 2 weeks after we are done with our next craft show in Lindsborg. The show is every 2 years. Last time it was so cold. I hope it is warming this year.

I have been adding several new ribbon rag security blankets.

These lovey are a great mix of ribbon blankets and rag quilts. They have the raggedy edge, minky plus the ribbons. They would make a great baby shower gift. I have them in lots of patterns. Don't see want in the fabric you would like? Feel free to contact me I am happy to do custom orders.

Full Time Artist - New Fabric

Recently, at the start of this month, I am creating full time. I will not be teaching next year. I'm excited for my new venture.

My partner & I are going to open a new store carrying little girl's dresses & hair clips, reusable snack bags and more. This store is going to focus more on young children.

We recently received some new fabric from Riley Blake's line Sweet Divinity. We made this pretty set of rag burp cloths. I think this fabric will make adorable dresses.

We recently decided to go to Spring into Hope. It will be April 15th & 16th at the Independence Event Center, Independence Missouri. It is a fundraiser for the Marian Hope Center. I have not visited Independence in quite a while. I hope it is a good sale.

This fabric is quite sweet. I have gotten a chance to make a large rag yet but it is on my list. We made a new diaper bag out of the colorful summer song fabric. I hope to have a picture of it later.

Snow & freezing cold temperature have helped me to have 4 extra days of sewing.

One of my newest items are Ribbon Securities. They are made out of cotton fabric on the front and super soft minky on the back. Sewn between the 2 layers is grosgrain and satin ribbons, which are sewn twice for durability. All ribbons are heat treated to prevent fraying.

Newest Diaper Bag

I am just finished photographing my newest diaper bag, a colorful sock monkey bag. It am really happy with the results and think it will go well with the other sock monkey items I have in my store. I will be making a chocolate brown, turquoise and green floral one next. The fabric is very pretty it comes for the Whimsy line from Micheal Miller.

We have been making many security rag quilts and well as planning for our first craft show the first week in August.

On the home front, with my parents I have been cleaning out my grandmother's house. There are so many knick-knacks and other things. This weekend we went to a memorial service for my great aunt in Dodge.

Custom Diaper Bags

I just finished a custom blue zebra diaper bag. I am currently without any diaper bag orders. I have one in the wings. It will me Tow Mater from the movie Cars. I think it will be very cute.

We have been busy working away. We have added a new nap mat to our listings. I have another new one to list this week, John Deere Green.

I have lots of fabric awaiting me in my craft room, so I will be busy adding new items in fresh fabrics.

On a totally different note, I never realized how many items in cardboard containers I use in one week. The recycling bin is overflowing.

I have lowered my plastic bottle use by buying handmade bar soap. There is so many great soaps on etsy. It is hard to choose. I also have been using bar soap for my hair too. I have been enjoying my summer break. I will be adding some more new items. I just finished some new personalized cloth diaper burp cloths. I will be hand dyeing some burp cloths too soon.
I am currently working on a blue zebra stripe diaper bag. I also have some great new fabric called whimsy from Michael Miller in blue, green and brown that I will be making into a diaper bag. I have enough to make 3.
In crocheting, I'm almost done with an American Flag Afghan. I will be adding some more colorful kitchen sponges too.

I will be busy doing one of my other passions, gardening. I have a bunch of tomatoes and pepper plants to dig holes for. I also have a lot of shade loving plants for my front garden. This morning, I'm off to a plant show where I'm sure I will "need" more plants.

Latest Quilt Projects - Custom Orders

These slanted diamond quilts, I did for a custom order, turned out really well. There was one for a girl with pink and one for a boy. I had a made a slanted diamond quilt before from 5" charms with a not directional fabric. The problem with the peter rabbit fabric is it is very directional. I had to create rectangles instead and then sew 2 squares on each end. It turned out great. I have some left over too. I will be making some crib size quilt too. I have a lot of left over square that I'm going to make into a pinwheel quilt too.

Another custom order I had was this Mickey Mouse quilt. I picked 3 fabris in red, white, and blue since that is what the customer wanted. I thought it turned out well. I have mickey fabric left over too. I will be making some rag quilts.

My next bunch of custom orders is 5 john deere diaper bags and a irish quilt. Busy, busy! School will be out soon and I will have more time so sew & garden.

Upcoming projects: My mom has been working on some new scarves for fall. I will be listing a few to give a preview. We will also be working on some matching hats. I will be embroidering some market bags and listing those. I will also be making some pin cushions. The first one will be mine. I plan on making a gerber daisy one in red. I love gerber daisies!

Custom Peter Rabbit Sland Diamond Quilt & New Items

I am happy to say I have receive a custom order for 2 Peter Rabbit & Friends Twin sized quilts. I have ordered the fabric I need and I'm working on them.

I had to change the pattern a little. The first slant diamond quilt I did was out of 5 in charms from Moda. It was a pretty floral and butterfly fabric. This fabric is directional and has larger scenes so I could not cut it up into squares otherwise the character would be cut in half and sometimes upside down. So, I figured out how to use a rectangle and 2 squares to make the slant diamonds. I think it will work out fine. I've included a photo of the original quilt and the fabrics and the block I have finished. It's going to look great.

One new item I just listed last night: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=42811630 is this pretty blue, green & yellow Audrey's kitchen quilt. We got the fabric from Connecting Threads. We love to shop there. We get all our thread there and we get different quilt kits and fabric too. The price per yard is very reasonable and they have great sales too. My mom, my partner, is working on another lap size quilt too. It should be finished within the week. I hope to be adding a pink sock monkey rag quilt soon.

On another note, I'm on Spring Break this week so I hope to get a lot of sewing done. If the weather cooperates, I hope to do some gardening also.

Light weight and larger quilts for spring and summer

We have been working on light weight baby quilts. We recently finished 2 smaller quilts 32 in x 32 in of Peter Rabbit and Friends. They are perfect for spring for either a boy or a girl. I love Peter Rabbit. I think it is a great classic baby print.
We also made a larger version of the pink and brown light weight quilt. 40 x 50. In this quilt be added more brown with pink polka dots. What do you think about the combination. I think it has a nice contrast with the lighter pinks.

On another note, I have a order for 2 twin sized Peter Rabbit & Friends slanted diamond quilts. I will be ordering the rest of the fabric I need and I will be busy working on that. It is a good thing spring break started today. I also have a embroidered John Deere blue and green plaid too.

If it stops raining, I'm going to try to squeeze in some time for my garden. I'm looking forward to growing many vegtables.

Lastest project and new items

I recently finished a Precious Moments girl baby rag quilt for a co-worker. It was for a friend who was having a girl. It turned out sweet and pink. I paired the precious moments fabric with this sweet little pink heart fabric I found.

I added a new style of burp cloth to my store. I am making burp cloths from 6 ply cloth diapers. I am hand dying the diapers to match the fabric. I am learning a lot about dying. I have made several colors: navy blue, red, pink and magenta.

I am working several light weight quilts in larger sizes. So, be on the lookout for those.

Marine Custom Quilt

I designed this quilt for a friend, who is the PE teacher at the school I work at. Her son is going into the Marines soon. This quilt is for his birthday. This quilt is a double size. It has 3 fabrics on the front: solid blue and red and a marine fabric. I designed the quilt around the Marine fabric. I used low loft batting. It was simply machine quilted around the blocks. We have quite a bit of Marine fabric left over and plan on making one or two throws out of the fabric. We might at white as another color. I do buy some locally but I have more luck getting specific fabrics from Ebay and my favorite online shops, such as, fabricshack.com, fabrics.com.

I currently have a Precious Moments rag quilt in the working and a 40's block quilt. On the 40's quilt, I have already made two quilts. I am making them for the secretary at the school I work at. I am using hand sewn blocks and combining them with white squares to make into 3 twin sized quilts. I have one done two more to go. We are looking for more custom orders.
