I wanted to do a little Post on my 92 yr old Grandma she will be 93 in March but she is an Amazing Old Lady & loves to be called that, she has taught me a lot of my Homemaking Skills & how to live on a Budget. She never bought Clothes always made hers & her Husbands, always Canning everything in site so you never went Hungry, Baked from Scratch, no Store Bought Mixes or Ice Cream or Bread, Doughnuts, Cakes, Cinnamon Rolls or anything else. She always had a Garden & Hung her Clothes on the Line, she could Knit, Crochet, Cross Stitch, make Porcelain Dolls or any other kind of Dolls & Crafts you wanted.I love her to pieces which reminds me when you wanted something to Snack on she would tell you to go get something to piece on,lol. I am Posting 2 Picture's 1 of her & 1 of the 2 Afghans she made me as a kid when I was 10 & 14 yr old & I am 42 now & I love them still. The Oil Lamps is one of my Weakness I love Collecting Old & New.

Homemade Peppers, Onions, Cheese & Garlic Bread

I wanted to do a Quick update on my Family, everyone here is doing Good & getting ready for Christmas just like you all are, I got the all Clear from my GYN on the healing of my Hysterectomy & everything turned out great & now I am getting my Energy back not all of it but some I am understanding now when people say it take a long time to get back to your normal self but I am starting to get their & I even started back to Baking full time today actually. I have made 3 Loaves of Peppers, Onions, Garlic & Cheese Bread along with a Pan of Fudge with Heath Pieces & now to cut of Venison to make a huge Pot of Stew & I will be Canning a lot of it. Hubby has been taking Classes this week with OSHA & is looking forward for that to be ending today but it will look really good on his Employment Record, tomorrow is his Birthday & I can't get him nothing so I am letting him go off Hunting for the Weekend. I have given my Daughter the Blessing to Move out & try Rooming with her friend again last time she tried they ended up in a Car Wreck that almost took their Lives but God has given them a second chance & given me another chance with my daughter. My Son's will be Moving out also it's time for me to cut the Apron Strings & let them move on with their life & for me to live my New Life I do feel like a New Woman & a New Me & time for me & Hubby to live our lives as a Couple. I am keeping some of our Farm life & living off the Land a much as we can but with catching Foods on Sale & Canning them I don't have to worry for anything to ruined in my Freezer & more Space. I am getting some unfinished Crafts done before the New Year so I can start off fresh & learn New things, this Year has not been all I had planned on but now I truly believe it will be Great next year, everyone in this world has probably has had a hard time 1 way or another like we have & with God we can Concord anything we set are Hearts too. Well Got to go & have a Blessed Day.

Material Required
1 large bar of soap
3 tablespoons of oatmeal
Large microwave safe bowl
4 tablespoons water
Soap mold
Procedure

Step 1: For the base soap you can choose any one of the scented or unscented soap available at the stores. Shred this soap bar and place the shavings into the large microwave safe bowl. Add the 4 tablespoons of water and stir well.

Step 2: Microwave this mixture for 2-3 minutes on high. Make sure you keep a tab on whether the soap is bubbling out of the bowl. Stir the mixture in between as and when needed.

Step 3: Grind up the oatmeal in a food processor, such that the oatmeal flakes retain some of their texture.

Step 4: Once the soap has been microwaved, bring it out and stir in the 3 tablespoons of oatmeal. Mix well. Add in essential oils for fragrance if desired and then pour the mixture into clean soap molds and allow to set for a few hours.

Step 5: Once the molds have cooled and the soap has set, remove from the mold and wrap in some pretty, decorative net cloth and use an attractive ribbon to tie a bow.

I like using the lemonade; however it can stain the dish soap dispenser a lemon yellow color, but it smells really good.

I decided to run a load using the store-bought brand versus the homemade soap.I then compared the two glasses – they both look the same to me!! Success!

DIY Rinsing Agent:

This is such a simple way to save money on rinsing agents – just use white distilled vinegar as the rinsing agent. Pour the vinegar in the section where you put Jet Dry or other rinse aids. The white distilled vinegar works just as well as another rinsing agent & is significantly cheaper.

Cost-Effective:

The homemade dishwasher soap costs about $.05 per load. The store bought brand is about $0.15 cents per load. I run at least one load if not two a day. At one load a day, it is a savings of $36.00 per year.

You can see a significant savings by using the white distilled vinegar as a rinsing agent. Typically, I would refill my rinsing agent once a month. By using the vinegar, I’m paying $0.06 per fill versus Jet Dry at about $4 per fill. I am saving $47.28 per year. If you combine the two, that is a savings of $83.28 a year!!

If you use coupons & match with the store sales, you could get the dishwasher soap & Jet Dry/rinsing agents cheaper, but using the homemade version could still be a great savings for your family on a regular basis.

Add butter and pulse until incorporated. Add water, 1 tablespoon at a time while pulsing, until ball forms. Remove and wrap with plastic wrap. Chill at least 30 minutes.

Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface with a lightly floured rolling pin into a 14-inch diameter round. Fit into a 9-inch pie pan, and crimp excess dough around the edges of the pan. Chill at least 15 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350F.

To prepare the filling, combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat and bring to a boil, gently stir until sugar dissolves. Boil until syrup becomes a deep golden color, 12 to 14 minutes. Remove from heat and slowly and carefully whisk in warm cream.

Combine pumpkin, eggs, vanilla extract, pumpkin pie spice and salt in a bowl; whisk until smooth. Slowly whisk in the now-tepid caramel mixture until smooth. Pour into the bottom of piecrust. Bake on a baking sheet until the filling is just set, 55 to 60 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool 1 hour. Chill at least 3 hours before serving. Serves 10.

Hubby has had to miss alot of work & yes we are redoing are Budget to pay off the rest of the Surgery so another words oh yea we are broke like everyone else with Medical Bills but we ae staking it in stride and dealing with it all God always has a plan. We lost a Hen do to our Yorkie so know the Dog has no choice to go into the pen when they are out Free Ranging. Hubby was suppose to go Hunting this weekened but instead will not leave until early Sunday Morning to go down to the lease but he has a back up place to Hunt and it's on my land. I will start selling my Crafts local for awhile to see how it turns out then I will start selling to everyone who wants to buy them. The picture's of the Crafts I have already Posted on my Blog is some that can be made to sell & also take orders but I will post when I do that worl wide. My kids are doing great they all have pulled together & have been helping me out. I am working on Paper for my Spring Garden but the way the Weather has been latley in Texas we may not have Winter & if thats so I will Plant what I can. Me & Hubby also has been researching more on how to live completely off the Land & has already cut a few of our Bills back so our goal is to do better off the land next year, it seems everything has gotten in the way this year so it will be different in 2012. I have a Group on FB called Cheap & Frugal so come and check us out. Well until next time have fun & stay Safe & Happy Homesteading :)

Hubby & I are trying to raise the cash for my Surgery & with God's will it will happened one way or another so if you can just say a qiuck prayer. We have had so many Fires in the State of Texas some have been to close to Home but other people in Texas has not been so lucky they have lost everything so say another prayer for them & we get alot of Rain, the Drought is so severe. I have been doing alot of Crocheting on Baby Blankets & Loom Knitting Hats & Bootie's plus I will also make childrens & teens stuff to, I will be donating those to Charity, now I need to go through my Storager & donate what I don't need to the Fire Victims.
