We painted a lot of white boards and left them with no trim, although you can add trim to make them look a little fancier. If you use vinyl at all just use your personal cutting machine, and cut in layers for the different colors. We picked a fun font for this project.

I would recommend at least an 18″ round if you are planning on putting it on your front door. Supplies Needed: We used a 12″ round pine board that we found at the dollar store. I know you can find different sizes and types of wood at either Lowe’s or Home Depot. Michael’s also carries them. At the top of our flowers we removed the wording on their file and used our own phrase of “Celebrate Spring”. You can use the Merge feature if you choose to do your own wording. As you can see in the photo below we did our Celebrate Spring by first painting it white then letting it dry. While drying we cut the stencil out on our personal cutting machine. Krystal was the mastermind of creating the template. As you can see we cut the vinyl template, weeded out all the small areas, pressed the template onto our painted Wood Round and started painting. This is what it looks like while painting. Once dry you can peel the template off and look how darling it turned out. One tip Krystal and I have learned over the years is once you put the template on, do a thin coat of paint (the same color as you painted your wood round). Over the top of your template to seal so you don’t get bleed through. It also helps keep your lines clean. what do you think about our Celebrate Spring – DIY Wood Round Décor?

Follow along on how to make Christmas blocks! If you see in the photo below you can see how I used the little red truck block to add to a small tiered tray. To create your own Christmas blocks you will need: 2″ by 4″ pine wood boards – We use whatever scraps we can find. White or Red paint Small Christmas like embellishments you can glue onto the blocks paintbrushes Assortment of Christmas scrapbook paper or stick on vinyl chop saw To start measure and cut your 2″ by 4″ board into squares using your chop saw, they will actually be 3.5 ” by 3.5″. Funny that they call it a 2″ by 4″ board since it isn’t really 4″ wide. Paint all of your blocks white or desired color and allow to dry As you can see we chose beautiful Christmas red paint for some of our blocks. Now once they are painted we found some darling mini ornaments and embellishments at the Dollar Tree! As you can see in the next photo some of the blocks are painted white! The little red block with the snowflake is actually vinyl cut out on a personal cutting machine (Silhouette / Cricut) but the rest are all small items found at Dollar Tree. In the photo below you can see that using scrapbook paper or sheeted vinyl on the block can turn out really cute too! The sky is the limit on these darling blocks. To make them a little rustic looking you can also always sand the edges and maybe antique them. I do like the bright colors though.

This Christmas tree family décor sign was quite the feat to make. My mother fell in love with this phrase and so wanting to surprise her with a fun Christmas gift . As you know by now I love to do things as cheaply as possible! I could have made this into a small sign but Krystal had an old billboard she had acquired on the side of her house. She was kind enough to cut a 4 foot section off of the end of it and since the backing was wood I just used the back of the billboard. If you flip this Christmas tree family sign and look at the back you would see it is metal! ha! Painting the wood side completely white made if for a great canvas! Assembling the Christmas Family Sign The hardest part of this project is definitely cutting the vinyl on a personal cutting machine. As the machine only cuts 12″ x 24″ at a time. Therefore, this project was cut and then pieced into place. It also had to be cut in different sections to achieve the different colors of vinyl. Luckily the mastermind Krystal makes this task seem easy! We are always keeping that machine busy! Next, is placing the vinyl to look good on the large board! Placing the vinyl with the backing still on makes it easier to know how it will look when finishing. Weeding out the excess vinyl actually goes pretty fast! Finally, along the top of the sign you can see we added some velvet burgundy ribbon and to add a little embellishing to the top. I knew exactly where this sign was going to go! Right on my mother’s front porch. I couldn’t wait to surprise her. This Large Four Foot Christmas Tree Family Décor sign was made for my mother in 2019 and has been displayed for several years.

Have you ever wanted to create your own Fourth of July Shirt using Iron-On vinyl and your own personal cutting machine? Follow along to learn the basics of creating your own T-Shirt with this step-by-step tutorial! Items you will need to make this T-shirt Iron on Vinyl (any color of your choosing) Any T-shirt Tape Measure Green standard mat – this is used in your personal cutting machine Iron Weeding tool Personal cutting machine – Cricut / Silhouette Any free SVG File of your choosing uploaded into your Personal cutting machine software Every person is a different size and shape so you’ll want to adjust the image you chose to the size you want on the front of your shirt. I measured across the chest of mine to figure out the correct sizing and placement. In the Cricut Software You can use Design Space’s t-shirt template to ensure it cuts to the perfect size. Be sure to mirror your image, that way it is cut the right way for iron-on. If you don’t do this, your image will be backwards when you iron it onto your shirt. Always, Always double-check that your image is mirrored. In the image below this is how it looks before I flip it into mirror mode. Another tip I have is to select “more” pressure to make sure it cuts completely through the Iron-On. For some reason, sometimes the blade doesn’t like to cut through the tough plastic of the Iron-On Vinyl Begin cutting your image, then when it is done cutting you will weed it out using your weeding tool. Remove all of the vinyl that you do NOT want to transfer to your Shirt. I chose a silver glitter for some of the shirts I made and white vinyl for some of the other shirts. At this point after you are done weeding out the excess vinyl place your vinyl on the shirt, remember to place your decal with the sticky side facing down. Some people warm their shirt beforehand but I never have. I also just use a normal Iron although you can use the Cricut press if you choose. As you will see in the next photo sometimes I add a scrap of Fabric over the top of the plastic so it doesn’t get so hot when I go to touch it. When your design has been cooled and is ready to be peeled, slowly peel it away from the shirt at a 45-degree angle. I usually peel from the corner of my design. Also take note that there are two types of Iron on Vinyl. One is a warm peel which you peel within about 15 seconds after ironing it on and the other is a cool peel vinyl that peels after cooling for 2-3 minutes. Pay attention to which type of Iron on vinyl you are using. Look how cute this Fourth of July Shirt turned out! I made extra’s for my sister, mom and sister in law. We all wore them on the 4th of July.

The 4th of July is coming up and my tiered tray needs some fun red, white and blue décor. Follow along to see how I made these 4th of July Fabric stuffed stars. First, you’ll want to gather some fabric. Color schemes of Red, White and Blue. I used printed fabric, mainly because it is what I had on hand and I didn’t have to go out and buy any. Take some paper and draw a star onto the paper, whatever size you would like. I stuck to the main center of my star being about the same size as the palm of my hand. You don’t need any special cutting scissors or anything but you will be doing all the cutting by hand. Cut out the paper star and then pin it to the top of your fabric. To cut 2 stars at once you can fold your fabric in half and hand cut out the stars following your paper guide. Every once in a while I like the white stitching of the thread to show so with these stars I put the fabric together facing outward and sewed using a 1/4″ seam. If you don’t like the thread to show then take your patterned fabric and face it towards each other before sewing. Leave a small hole along one of the sides of the stars to push stuffing into. The stitches along the star are just straight stitches, nothing difficult. Honestly they do not need to be perfect as no one will be analyzing them. Many people worry about not being able to sew. But with these you don’t have to be a seamstress to whip these up! Before you start stuffing the stars you’ll want to iron them to get all the creases out of them. I actually ironed mine before I sewed them together and then again after sewing them If you are sewing the fabric pattern sides together then make sure you turn your stars inside out before stuffing them. Look at how I placed my Fabric stuffed stars in my tiered tray

I actually ironed mine before I sewed them together and then again after sewing them

If you are sewing the fabric pattern sides together then make sure you turn your stars inside out before stuffing them. Look at how I placed my Fabric stuffed stars in my tiered tray

Look how cute this MTC Survival Kit turned out! This is taking my crafting back to 2019 when my Maeli left on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She left home for 18 months to serve the lord. I made this kit 3 years ago but loved how it turned out that I thought I would share! I found these printables on Little Miss Suzy Q Included in the printables was a card that you could handwrite in a special note if your child didn’t know what it was! My daughter said this MTC Survival kit made her cry when she received it in the mail. Those kids tend to get a little homesick in the beginning! I purchased Laffy Taffy’s, M&M’s, Tootsie Rolls, Sweettarts, Mounds, Hershey kisses, Poprocks, Bit-o-honey, Lifesavers, goldfish, pretzels, Just look at all those goodies she got to open and SHARE!! She said she already had everything she needed so I had to figure out something fun and exciting to get 🙂 As you can see in the photo above I also included some printed copies of all of us at the MTC that she hadn’t seen since we dropped her off. She loved looking through the photos and added them to the mini photo album we had sent with her to the MTC. I love how this MTC survival kit turned out for her! It made her heart happy and of course my mamma heart happy too!

We have several Floating Shelves in our home and these were made by my husband in February of 2021. During the winter my husband goes a little stir crazy as he loves being outdoors so during the winter months I try to give him projects to work on. Here is one of the projects! I love Shanty 2 Chic and all their creative wood projects. The plans are easy to follow by using this tutorial on making floating shelves. Although, changing the dimensions on our shelves. We also did not use our Kreg Jig. We felt that there was no need to as all the nails and holes were inside of the base/frame of this project and we could use putty over the exterior small nails. In the photo above you can see the frames are just regular pine cut on the saw to fit the dimensions that were open next to my window and tub. The tops are just set on the frames to see if they fit correctly and then removed and stained. Apply a coat of wood glue between the layers. You will have to adjust according to the sizes of Floating shelves you want. Items you will need 1×4, 1×6, 1×8 or 1×10 shelf top board in desired length of shelf 1×4 long enough to go all the way around your 1x shelf top board 2×3 or 2×4 – inside support pieces 1/4″ plywood, same size as your shelf top board Screws and Drill to screw the base into place Miter Saw for Small Cuts Circular Saw for Long cuts Table saw for ripping down planks 3/4″ and 1-1/4″ brad nails Wood glue Pencil for marking Level for making sure the shelves are level Measuring tape – so shelves are the perfect distance apart from each other Sander Paint brush / rag if staining. Stain or paint Cleats Stud Finder Chocolate! Steps First: locate your studs and mark them with a pencil or a piece of tape Second: start making your frame – This will look like a ladder at first you can see the photo on this post when we made our first floating shelf back in 2014. Third: Attach the frame to the wall – in this case we attach to two walls. (The back and side wall) as the front and other side are open. Justin Put two 4″ screws into each stud. During this phase make sure you are using the level A LOT. The remaining 2×4 was screwed on to the front to make sure the frame is solid. Fourth: Apply your stained or painted plywood sheets. (I like painting or staining beforehand as it’s easier to just touch up once installed. I also don’t like the smell of drying stain in my house. Using a brad nailer we nailed the tops to the base frame. Fifth: Add front facing and sides to the base frame. I never got any photos of the front and side pieces being applied around the frames. You’ll want the end pieces to match the width of your shelf top board and front piece the length to match the length of the top board. I love how the look! Baskets came into play as I decided how to decorate and use them.

I love how the look! Baskets came into play as I decided how to decorate and use them.
