Satya Nadella—the CEO of Microsoft—gave a keynote presentation today that featured 6 of my animations: here they are live and direct from my dining room. I concepted, illustrated and creative-directed all of these within a few weeks—with dozens of stakeholders (from the CEO’s team to each of the 6+ customers we featured) who all were “feedbacking” until past the 11th hour. We stayed nimble with the changes and I’m happy with where they landed—and I feel privileged to have helped tell stories for the C-suite of one of the world’s biggest corporations. Police unions are protection rackets for corrupt cops and are the major impediment to substantive change and reform. In Chicago, Jon Burge was found guilty of torturing hundreds of suspects into false confessions through the 70s and 80s, yet was never convicted because the statute of limitations lapsed. He ruined lives, cost the city over $100mil in legal fees and reparations—yet he received a $4k a month police pension after he was fired in 1993. The union stood by Burge until his death in 2018.

Hi there, I’m @craightonberman the person behind Manual. Just like most of the US I’m sheltering in place—here I am in my living room with some early prototypes of the Framework plant stands (BTW the Kickstarter is 91% funded!) 🌿 To my right is Norman the dog. Taking the photo is my wife Emily (a personal chef at @feedingthefirebelly who’s now temporarily a homeschool teacher) Just out of frame are my two sons (Chicago public schools are cancelled for the year). A few weeks back I had the honor to work with @uhhospitals_cle to help them visualize the Battelle N95 mask reuse process they created for their entire hospital team. Within an extremely short period of time I distilled their process into a rough design, iterated with their team based on clinical input, and finalized a fully illustrated process that was put into use immediately. It was a privilege to find a way to donate my skills to help safeguard medical professionals—thanks to @kipum of the UH Ventures – Innovation & Design team for the opportunity.
