It's funny when you can look back on your life and think of things you would have done differently, or things you didn't do at all and wished you had. Well we all know what is said about hindsight. I have attempted many things in my life and failed at most of those things; school, relationships, business ventures..I'm sure I'm not alone. The one thing that I have stuck with in life is my passion for music. GOOD music. Now we all have our own concept of what good music is, it's typically what makes us feel good.
My Father was a drummer, my step-father was a DJ. I was always exposed to music growing up. I can remember, naturally, following in both their footsteps. One day I would be walking around the house humming a tune until it was a completely different song. The same day I would have made a drum beat on the table or my chest. That evolved into becoming a imaginary DJ, complete with a Fisher-Price record player, and a Radio Shack tape recorder. Whoa boy, the rest is history! I'm going to save the play by play details of my childhood and how it relates to my career now, but I will say that the desire has never gone away.
So here we are in 2011, and to look at how strong of an effect music has on society is disturbing. Let's just take Rap music for example. Rap has been one of my favorites since it became popular in the late 70's. Around 1986 is when disaster struck. 3 letters: N.W.A. There are many documentaries, movies, and news stories about the controversial group, so I don't want to go too deep into any individual groups or "artists". Call me a hater, but the bottom line is freedom of speech has been terribly abused. I'm old school - even when I have free reign, I know how to censor my own tongue. (I realize this is becoming a rant lol)
I created Crankworthy Radio to fight the downward spiral of mainstream music. The music played via internet web site Live365 and Crankworthyradio.com is a combination of Jazz, Hip Hop, and New Age electronic music. The music is hand-picked to meet the standards of quality, depth, originality, melody and beats. If there's any question at all to what this sounds like, all you'll have to do is click on the player to listen. When you find yourself anxious to hear what's going to play next, you can rate the station, save it to your favorites, and if you are really into the cause, you can donate from the site. Don't forget to comment on this blog whether you love it or hate it, I'm always up for conversation!
