Sprucing up the house

We have lived in our home for a year and a half now, and besides the staples, couch, table, a few chairs, we really have not done much decorating. It is contemporary and doesn't require much but, every home needs a few nick nacks and or accessories in my opinion to make it feel home like and warm. An since I have been home more and spend most of my day on the couch feeding a tiny one, those empty walls and spaces on console table have begun to consume me. Which lead to today's

The console table in our entry was is dark wood and rather bare, I was looking for a table lamp that was unique and would brighten up and contrast the dark wood. Sure enough I found it in this lamp. It was the perfect paring of something contemporary yet warm and a bit rustic. The branch is a warm white with an unglazed finish and the lamp shade adds additional dimension with it's linen texture.

Brilliant! Why didn't I think of this before and if any of you knew about it you should have shared. What is it? It's exactly what the name says it is... a digital timer. I have two currently in my home and plug my lamps into them. The lights turn on at 5pm and shuts off at 11pm, 7 days a week. I like coming home to warm glowing lamps!
I suggest you all give this one a buy!

This is a fantastic fall, winter, spring, pant and if you get the right color and have unpredictable seasons like we do here in Utah you may even be able to wear it into the summer. The pant is comfortable and soft. The two things I like most are the color options and the perfect amount of stretch. It comes in regular, petite, and tall. For colors I am drawn to the persimmon and sable brown, but you cannot go wrong with any of the options. PS if you like them act fast! They are offering %40 off all sale items and in my opinion that is the only time to shop jcrew!

Thank you for your patience. With the arrival of baby B, the holidays, and everyday life with three actually 4 (Mr. Ace definitely counts as a kid) life has been busier than normal. With that said, there have been a lot of neat and fun items I have found and have in store for y'all.

I will first start with the #1 one thing on my mind post pregnancy.

Getting back into shape.

First it is the new year and that is always on the resolutions list but, let's be honest I have a good 20 lbs to go.

So what am I doing about it?

KARVE

It is a studio located in Lindon and holy smokes it is amazing.

It is a mix of pilates, yoga, bar work, floor work, and ball work.

It is intense and motivating!

Right now I am rather addicted. If I miss a class I feel out of whack. It is challenging but do-able. It is a class for all ages and they have different class times each day. Check their web site for any and all inquires. My challenges for you is to go try it. I promise it will be an hour well spent. I am a big fan folks.

Preface, I really like having my nails painted but it sure takes a lot of time. If I have a chip or if the color does not match my duds it creates a mental problem for me. Then there is the whole dry time. Let's just say, my nails are scuffed and chipped within minutes of application.

I am sold. I would post a pic of my own nails but let's be honest I have the ugliest hands on the planet. And all I am sayin' is if this polish can make these hands look good this stuff is GOOD! Benefits: Stays on for 3+ weeks. (I change my because I get sick of the color.) They actually seem to strengthen your natural nail and the part I like best is that they look very natural.

I have been jonesing for Corn Chowder ALL week. I finally found the time to make some last night and I do have to say it is one for the archives. Folks this is a simple must try delicious recipe!

The Barefoot Contessa's Corn Chowder

Ingredients

8 ounces bacon, chopped
1/4 cup good olive oil
6 cups chopped yellow onions (4 large onions)
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
1/2 cup flour
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
6 cups chicken stock
6 cups Veggie Broth
6 cups medium-diced white boiling potatoes, unpeeled (2 pounds)
Frozen (3 pounds)
2 cups half-and-half
1/2 pound sharp white cheddar cheese, grated

Directions

In a large stockpot over medium-high heat, cook the bacon and olive oil until the bacon is crisp, about 5 minutes. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and reserve. Reduce the heat to medium, add the onions and butter to the fat, and cook for 10 minutes, until the onions are translucent.

Stir in the flour, salt, pepper, and turmeric and cook for 3 minutes. Add the chicken stock and potatoes, bring to a boil, and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes, until the potatoes are tender. If using fresh corn, cut the kernels off the cob and blanch them for 3 minutes in boiling salted water. Drain. (If using frozen corn you can skip this step.) Add the corn to the soup, then add the half-and-half and cheddar. Cook for 5 more minutes, until the cheese is melted. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper. Serve hot with a garnish of bacon.

I woke up this morning yearning to feel "normal".

Even with a decent nights sleep I still felt like I had been hit by a train.

I am a peg perego fan! I had one with C and G and loved it. Although it was a tad bit heavy it was sturdy, durable, and seemed very comfortable compared to others I had looked at. I also like that it is compatible with my bugaboo stroller as well as my double peg stroller. I have to say if you are looking for a car seat look no further!

I am sure this item is TMI but it was and is a necessity at my home! I was told with my first child that if I was going to splurge on one item make sure that it was a pump. Boy do I agree. This has saved my bacon on numerous occasions. I really like the medela products and HIGHLY suggest this one.

Okay this is where I REALLY need your help!!

My children lived in their swing but when Miss G. was born C thought it was for both of them and broke it. Ideally I would purchase the same swing but they no longer make it. I don't know about you guys but my children live in onsies and layettes for about 6 months. I learned quickly with C my oldest that jeans and excess clothing are not very comfortable nor practical. Not for us at least. I remember my mother saying that I should get some gowns because they are the greatest for sleeping\quick diaper changes. I laughed at her and stated that my son would not be wearing a gown. Oh how I have eaten my words. Gowns are a MUST HAVE. Brilliant for night time. No snaps, zips, or buttons. I highly suggest these items for a new born gift or sweet heart of your own.

I have never ever been a lip stain fan.....EVER. The few that I tried have dried my lips, made them flake or felt very chalk like. These hands down are the greatest pant known to woman! How I have gone this long without them I DON"T KNOW. Unfortunately, they are getting a whole lot of wear at my house. The first thing I do when I get home from work is slip them on. They are made of Modal\Supima cotton and feel like butter. There are no tight waist bands, pockets or fuss.
