Meta AI smart glasses have officially landed in Australia, and for the first time, they’re not wearing a Ray-Ban or Oakley badge. This is Meta putting its own name on the box — and that alone tells you something about where the company thinks this category is headed.

According to Mediaweek, Meta and EssilorLuxottica launched the new Meta Glasses range locally on 24 June, available through Meta.com and selected retailers. The lineup covers three styles: Adventurer, Fury, and the Kylie Jenner-designed Starfire with the Adventurer and Fury starting at AUD $469, and the Kylie edition from AUD $629.

The hardware is essentially the same foundation as the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, which Meta says are the world’s best-selling AI glasses. What’s new is the branding, the frame designs, and the AI powering them. Meta’s freshly launched Muse Spark model, the first out of Meta Superintelligence Labs and built specifically for low-latency wearable inference. In plain terms: faster AI responses without killing the battery.

Feature-wise, you’re looking at hands-free photo and video capture, open-ear audio, voice commands, and live translation across 20 languages including Mandarin, Japanese, Hindi and Korean, which matters for a lot of Australian households and for those who like to travel overseas. Battery life is rated at up to 8 hours, and prescription lens compatibility is available.

I’ve never personally owned smartglasses or alike before but really like the concept. In the past, it definitely got a harsh welcome because this means anyone can record anything, anywhere without you realising it. Imagine being recorded in the train, or at a club where privacy matters. But being able to translate conversations in real time when you are traveling overseas or looking at navigation while driving does sound awesome.

The Ray-Ban Meta glasses have been out for a while now and the feedback has been mixed great for some use cases, but not so good for others. So we’ll have to see how this Meta Glasses go.

At that price, it really does depend on what you’re buying them for. A frequent traveller who’d use the live translation feature daily? That would be an easy sell. But for casual users, the high price may not justify having one of these yet.

Competition is coming, though. Google is reportedly planning AI glasses with Warby Parker, and Samsung is reportedly working on its own pair. Meta’s advantage right now is simply that its glasses are on shelves, including Australian ones.

Meta AI smart glasses are available now through Meta.com/au and selected local retailers, starting at AUD $469.

D-Link A/NZ has just announced two new portable 5G hotspots for the Australian and New Zealand market: the F518 5G Wi‑Fi 6 AX1800 Mobile Hotspot and the more powerful DBR-330-G 5G AX3000 Wi‑Fi 6 Mobile Hotspot. Both devices are aimed at people who need reliable internet on the move, whether that’s remote workers, frequent travellers, students, or anyone tired of dealing with patchy public Wi‑Fi so they can bring and use their own.

The F518 is the more accessible of the two. It supports 5G NR with theoretical download speeds of up to 2.6Gbps and dual-band AX1800 Wi‑Fi 6, delivering up to 1200Mbps on the 5GHz band and 574Mbps on 2.4GHz. It handles up to 16 connected devices at once via a Nano SIM, includes WPA3 encryption, a USB-C port, and a WPS button for quick connections. It comes with a whoppingly large 8000mAh battery. D-Link is claiming up to 16 hours of use from a single charge so you can work til you drop if you really want. It also supports reverse charging, so you can use it as a power bank for your phone or tablet when you need to.

The DBR-330-G steps things up considerably. It tops out at theoretical download speeds of 4.67Gbps and upload speeds of 1.25Gbps on 5G, paired with AX3000 Wi‑Fi 6 that delivers up to 2402Mbps on 5GHz and 574Mbps on 2.4GHz. It supports up to 32 connected devices, includes a built-in VPN client, a microSD card slot supporting up to 2TB for file sharing via D-Link’s Join N’ Share with Private Cloud, and can be managed through the D-Link FALCON app. It also packs a 5260mAh battery for up to 10 hours of use and measures a compact 116 x 81 x 23.5mm. At that size, it would slip into a jacket pocket without any fuss and with 32 connected devices at the same time, you can practically use it with your whole team to work in the same room.

These are straightforward alternatives to tethering from your phone or hunting for a café with decent Wi‑Fi: you insert a SIM, and you’re online. The DBR-330-G in particular looks like a solid option for small teams or families travelling together, especially with that 32-device capacity and the VPN support built in.

On pricing, the F518 will retail for AU$449.95 and the DBR-330-G for AU$699.95. Both are available now through D-Link’s Australian website at www.dlink.com.au and at participating retailers. The DBR-330-G is a fair chunk of money, but given the specs and feature set, it’s clearly aimed at users who need a proper mobile broadband solution rather than an occasional backup.

Photo by Dima Solomin on Unsplash

OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 family went live yesterday: Sol, Terra, and Luna. It’s the most significant release the company has put out in a long time. But whether it lives up to the hype for regular users is a different question.

The GPT-5.6 family ships in three tiers. Sol is the flagship, built for complex reasoning, long-horizon coding, and agentic workflows. Terra is the middle tier, roughly comparable to the previous GPT-5.5 in quality but priced at about half the cost. Luna is the fast, cheap option for high-volume work. According to OpenAI, Sol is 54% more token-efficient on agentic coding tasks than competing models, and it sets a new record on Terminal-Bench 2.1, the main coding benchmark in use right now.

ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers can now access Sol via medium and higher effort settings. If you’re on Free or Go, you’ll land on Luna or Terra by default.

Here’s the part that doesn’t usually happen with a ChatGPT update. Per Nextgov/FCW, OpenAI previewed GPT-5.6 to White House officials before it reached anyone else, and the public rollout was delayed by weeks at the US government’s request. The reason: Sol is OpenAI’s strongest model yet for cybersecurity, specifically vulnerability research and exploitation tasks which made regulators nervous enough to want a proper look first.

OpenAI has been clear it doesn’t want this to become standard practice, but the precedent is set. We’re at a point where an AI model can be considered powerful enough to warrant government sign-off before the public gets it.

Honestly, the most interesting model in this family isn’t Sol, it’s Terra. A model that matches last generation’s flagship at half the price is the one that actually changes the economics for developers and small businesses building AI tools. Sol is impressive, but it’s priced similarly to Anthropic’s top-tier models and the real-world differences for most tasks will be marginal.

There seems to be a known quirk in Sol where it can act beyond what you actually asked. OpenAI’s own system card acknowledges the model is more prone to this than its predecessor. In testing, it reportedly ran cleanup on machines users never specified and claimed credit for work it hadn’t done. Early testers at Every also caught it making a significant calculation error mid-task. It doesn’t mean Sol is unreliable, but it does mean you shouldn’t put it on autopilot and walk away.

I’ve been on Claude Code for coding but I’ve heard many great things about ChatGPT 5.5. Claude sometimes have the same issue that it can overthink and make changes that you do not want to. These can normally be managed through the CLAUDE.MD file – though sometimes Claude seems to ignore it.. so, yeah.

The Logitech G316 X 98 is a wired gaming keyboard that slots in as the more affordable sibling to the G512 X, and it does a surprisingly good job of making high-end gaming features accessible without stripping everything back to bare bones. At AUD $199.95, it sits in that interesting middle ground where you expect some compromises, but the compromises here are fewer than you’d think.

Inside the box you get the G316 X 98 keyboard, a 1.8m detachable USB-A cable, and documentation. Logitech keeps it clean and simple here. No extra keycaps in the box like the G512 X to keep the price down, though customisation kits are available separately if you want to mix and match.

LOGITECH G316 X 98 REVIEW – DESIGN AND FEATURES

The G316 X 98 is a 98% layout keyboard, so you keep your numpad while losing very little else. It measures 384mm wide and 140mm deep, which makes it a chunky, substantial board. The 880g weight without the cable tells you this isn’t something you’re throwing into a bag for a LAN party. On the desk though, that weight works in its favour. It sits firmly and doesn’t shift around even during intense gaming sessions.

The build leans on plastic, and it does show. Coming from the G512 X, the more premium feel is noticeably absent here. That said, the G316 X still looks good on a desk. Logitech hasn’t made it look cheap, just clearly more affordable. The finish and overall aesthetic hold up well under RGB lighting, which helps a lot.

Speaking of lighting, the LIGHTSYNC RGB implementation on the G316 X is pretty good for the price. Per-key lighting looks great, and while you don’t get the front-facing Lightbar that the G512 X carries, the 30 customisable light bar zones along the side still give the keyboard plenty of visual personality. The presets available through G HUB are varied and well-designed enough that most people won’t need to spend much time customising from scratch.

The G316 X has a dot-matrix LED display (something that is absent on the G512 X) paired with the control dial. When you adjust the volume, you don’t just see a volume icon change on the display. The RGB lighting across the keyboard animates in sync with the action. It’s a small touch, but it makes adjusting settings feel alive rather than functional. Volume, media playback, brightness, and report rate are all controllable through the dial, and the display feedback makes each adjustment satisfying to use.

The keyboard ships with two switch options. The Tactile variant has a 2.2mm actuation distance and 55g actuation force, while the Linear variant is lighter at 1.9mm and 40g. I found the switches on the stiffer side compared to what I’m used to, and while responsiveness isn’t in question, it’s worth keeping in mind if you plan to use this keyboard for long typing sessions at work. For gaming, the stiffness is less of an issue, but for hours of document work it might wear on you. Hot-swappable switches are supported, which means you can pull out the defaults and drop in your preferred stem style without any soldering. Make sure to check my G512 X review to see how easy it is to swap switches.

The gasket-mounted structure with sound-dampening layers delivers on the “thocky” promise to a reasonable degree. The sound and feel are satisfying, notably better than what you’d expect from a keyboard at this price tier.

LOGITECH G316 X 98 REVIEW – PERFORMANCE

The headline spec is the 8 kHz report rate, and it’s worth understanding what that actually means in context. Standard gaming keyboards run at 1 kHz, meaning they report their position to your PC 1,000 times per second. The G316 X does it 8,000 times per second, cutting input latency to near-imperceptible levels. For casual and mid-level gamers, the difference might not be something you consciously feel, but it is there. For competitive players, particularly those in fast-paced shooters or RTS games where fractions of a second matter, it’s a meaningful advantage.

The 8 kHz rate needs to be enabled through G HUB software. Once you’re in there, you can also configure LIGHTSYNC RGB lighting, set up macros, remap keys, and adjust the game mode key behaviour. G HUB is a known quantity at this point and it handles everything the G316 X needs without drama.

At AUD $199.95, the Logitech G316 X 98 makes a strong case for itself. You’re getting an 8 kHz polling rate, hot-swappable switches, per-key RGB, a dot-matrix LED display with a control dial, and a gasket-mounted build for under A$200. The G512 X offers a more premium construction and the front Lightbar, but it also costs more. If you want the core gaming performance and most of the style without stretching the budget to the flagship, the G316 X fills that gap well.

Samsung’s biggest hardware event of the year is just two weeks away, with Galaxy Unpacked set for 22 July in London — and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup looks more complex than ever.

What Samsung is expected to announce

According to leaks compiled by Tom’s Guide and corroborated by FCC certification filings, Samsung is preparing at least five devices for the London stage: the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (the direct successor to last year’s Z Fold 7), a new wider variant called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, the Galaxy Z Flip 8, the Galaxy Watch 9 series, and the debut of Galaxy Glasses running Gemini AI.

The Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to carry a 5,000mAh battery which is a jump from the 4,400mAh in the Fold 7 and finally push past the 25W charging ceiling that’s frustrated users for years, landing at 45W wired. NokiaPowerUser reports a 200MP main camera is also in the mix.

The more interesting device is arguably the Z Fold 8 Wide. As TechTimes reports, this variant unfolds into a 7.6-inch 4:3 display, closer to a small landscape tablet than the tall, narrow proportions Samsung foldables have shipped with since 2019. It’s a different form factor aimed at productivity users, not just a size bump.

Then there’s the Z Flip 8, which may be the last of its kind. Tom’s Guide notes that supply chain data shows the Flip 8 being built at lower volumes than both Fold models, with multiple tipsters claiming Samsung is winding down the clamshell foldable line entirely after this generation.

On pricing, PhoneArena puts the Z Fold 8 Ultra starting at around US$1,999 for 256GB, with the 1TB configuration potentially hitting US$2,499 or more, driven partly by a sharp rise in mobile DRAM costs that analysts don’t expect to ease before late 2027.

Who foldables actually make sense for

I haven’t personally used a foldable smartphone. But I can absolutely see the appeal for certain people. If you’re a designer, architect, or someone who frequently reviews detailed documents or technical drawings on the go, a foldable that opens into a near-tablet display is a great thing to have. Having that screen real estate in your pocket without carrying a separate tablet is a compelling trade-off for the right person.

For everyone else, though? It’s a harder sell. If you prefer a slim, minimal phone that disappears into your pocket, a foldable is the opposite of that. The Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to weigh in around the same territory as its predecessor, so not exactly the device you forget you’re carrying. And starting at the equivalent of over AU$3,000, you’re paying a serious premium for a form factor that the majority of users don’t actually need day to day.

The Z Fold 8 Wide’s 4:3 aspect ratio is the most interesting development here because it leans harder into the productivity argument. Rather than a phone that happens to fold, it’s closer to a pocket tablet that happens to make calls. Whether that’s what Australian buyers actually want at that price point remains to be seen.

What to watch on 22 July

Samsung will open pre-orders the same day as the announcement, with devices expected to ship in early August. The AU pricing will be the number to watch as memory cost pressures have pushed prices up across the Android ecosystem this year, and Australian buyers have historically faced a premium on top of that already. Whether Samsung holds the AU$2,799 starting point of the Fold 7 or nudges it higher will tell us a lot about how seriously they’re chasing the local foldable market.

Galaxy Unpacked starts 22 July in London. The event will be streamed live on Samsung.com, Samsung Newsroom and Samsung’s YouTube channel beginning at 11pm AEST and 2 p.m. BST.

Many have waited for Tesla Robotaxi to be a reality – back from when Tesla announced their first car fleet. Well, Tesla’s Robotaxi push just reached Florida, and the headlines are doing a lot of heavy lifting for what is, on the ground, a pretty modest operation.

The company actually already launched driverless ride-hailing in Miami on 3 July which is its first city outside Texas and California. And the caveat is, there is no safety driver in the vehicle. On paper, that sounds like a milestone. In practice, according to Automotive World, the service covers just 25 to 36 kilometres in western Miami-Dade, well away from downtown and Brickell where most people actually want to go. Bloomberg puts Tesla’s total US Robotaxi fleet at around 59 vehicles. For context, TechTimes reports that Waymo’s Miami coverage zone alone spans 155 square kilometres, roughly four to six times Tesla’s launch footprint and the company has served more than 150,000 riders in Florida since opening there in January.

The situation in Austin, Tesla’s original launch city, tells you a lot. According to Automotive World, the unsupervised portion of the Austin fleet has actually been shrinking, sliding from a peak of around 25 vehicles to roughly 14 and wait times have regularly stretched past 15 minutes. Elon Musk has said safety validation, not mapping, is the limiting factor, and he’s conceded the Robotaxi business is unlikely to generate meaningful revenue before 2027, per Automotive World. Meanwhile, Zacks via Yahoo Finance notes that Waymo now operates roughly 3,000 to 4,000 driverless vehicles globally and completes more than 500,000 paid trips every week.

The Miami launch sounds like a real progress: unsupervised rides in a third US state, a new operating environment, and proof the program is still moving. I’m not going to dismiss that. But the numbers don’t lie. Fifty-nine vehicles across an entire country is not a fleet. It’s a field trial with a marketing budget but hey, it’s getting there, at least in the real world situations.

That said, I do think Tesla has a long-term edge that often gets overlooked in these Waymo-wins-everything narratives and that’s data. Every Model Y with FSD enabled is feeding the training pipeline, every day, across hundreds of thousands of real-world kilometres. Waymo builds better Robotaxis right now though this is debatable as well as I see videos of Waymo cars freaking out in heavy traffic situations. Tesla is building a better dataset for later. Whether “later” arrives before Tesla runs out of investor patience is the real question.

What this means for Australia

We’re not getting Tesla or Waymo Robotaxi anytime soon but Australian regulation and road infrastructure make the US timelines look irrelevant for now. But what happens in Miami and Austin still matters here, because it sets the template for how autonomous vehicles get regulated, insured, and sold to a sceptical public. The conversations happening in US cities today about coverage zones, liability, fleet transparency – are the ones our regulators will be referencing when this eventually lands on our shores.

I used to own and drive the first generation of Tesla Model X and love Tesla cars. I recently tried out Model Y pure self-driving in Australian roads and quite amazed by it. It took me from one suburb to another with zero intervention so that’s been a long wait.

What to watch next

Tesla’s next likely expansion is Phoenix, and the company has also filed to deploy up to 5,000 autonomous vehicles in Las Vegas, according to TechTimes. If those launches look anything like Miami which has small zones, thin fleets, long waits then the credibility gap between Tesla’s Robotaxi story and Waymo’s actual operation is only going to get harder to spin.

Motorola has just announced a significant expansion of its Australian lineup, including a book-style foldable smartphone. Called the motorola razr […]

Motorola has just announced a significant expansion of its Australian lineup, including a book-style foldable smartphone. Called the motorola razr fold, it joins the new motorola razr 70 ultra and a pair of Swarovski-adorned luxury devices as part of what is easily the most ambitious local launch Motorola has put together in years.

The razr fold unfolds to an 8.1-inch 2K LTPO display which is the brightest interior display Motorola claims is available on any foldable right now. The 6.6-inch external screen means you’re not left squinting at a tiny cover panel when the device is closed. There is also the inclusion of Sound by Bose technology, which Motorola says makes this the only foldable on the market with that audio partnership baked in. That sounds like a great feat to have.

On the camera side, Motorola is offering a triple-camera setup anchored by a 50MP Sony LYTIA 828 main sensor. The DXOMARK Gold Label recognition for imaging puts it at the top of the foldable camera rankings which is a meaningful claim if it holds up in real-world use. There’s also a 50MP periscope telephoto lens capable of up to 100x Super Zoom Pro, a 50MP ultrawide lens with Macro Vision, and two selfie cameras: a 32MP internal one and a 20MP shooter on the cover display. Dolby Vision video recording in up to 8K rounds out an impressive spec sheet on paper.

Battery life has historically been one of the trade-offs you make with foldables, but Motorola offers a 6000mAh cell which is one of the largest in any foldable available today. And it’s paired with 80W TurboPower charging. The company claims over 43 hours of battery life from a full charge. Powering everything is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, and the device also supports the moto pen ultra for stylus input on the large internal display. Seven years of Android OS and security updates are also promised, which is becoming table stakes for premium Android devices but is still worth noting.

The motorola razr 70 ultra, meanwhile, is Motorola’s flip-phone flagship and the most powerful razr the brand has built. It runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite platform and introduces a triple 50MP camera system with a LOFIC sensor, which Motorola says captures up to six times more dynamic range than a conventional sensor. Its 4.0-inch external display offers full app access without unfolding, and a 5000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 68W TurboPower charging is claimed to deliver over 36 hours of use. The design features a titanium-reinforced hinge and is available in a PANTONE Orient Blue finish with Alcantara texture.

Rounding out the launch are the motorola signature and moto buds 2 plus, both adorned with Swarovski crystals and finished in PANTONE Violet Indigo as the latest additions to Motorola’s Brilliant Collection. These are clearly aimed at buyers who want their tech to double as an accessory, and the 3D-quilted crystal pattern on the signature in particular looks striking in press imagery.

At A$2,799 for the razr fold, it’s priced at the upper end of the premium Android market, roughly in line with competing book-style foldables but a significant ask. The razr 70 ultra comes in at A$1,999, and the motorola signature lands at A$1,799. From what I can see, all three are premium plays, and Motorola clearly isn’t chasing the budget segment here.

The motorola razr fold in PANTONE Blackened Blue and PANTONE Lily White is available for pre-order now until 15 July at JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman, with Telstra pre-order opening on 7 July. The motorola razr 70 ultra in PANTONE Orient Blue is also available for pre-order at both retailers until 15 July. The motorola signature and moto buds 2 plus Swarovski edition are exclusive to Telstra and will be available from 7 July.

Visit Motorola website for more details.

Superloop has launched a new feature called PriceLock, which lets eligible existing customers freeze both the price and speed of their broadband plan for two years. During this economic uncertainties,

That means no surprise price hikes, and no having your speed tier quietly shifted around on you. At the end of the two-year term, you can choose to extend at whatever the prevailing market price is at the time.

Mehul Dave, Group Executive Consumer at Superloop, said the offer came down to giving customers more certainty in their everyday spending, something that feels increasingly relevant as household bills continue to climb across Australia.

From what I can see, the early uptake has been impressive. Superloop offered it first to a select group of existing customers and close to 10,000 of them signed up, which tells you there’s real appetite for this kind of predictability.

At $25 upfront, the maths isn’t complicated. If Superloop raises its broadband prices at all during your lock-in period, you’ve likely already paid off the fee within the first month. Whether broadband pricing in Australia will move enough to make it worthwhile is the real question, but given the broader cost-of-living pressures right now, having that ceiling on one of your regular bills is a reasonable thing to want.

PriceLock is available now to eligible Superloop customers. Check the Superloop website for full terms and conditions and to see if you qualify.

We’ve been with Superloop after moving away from AussieBroadband (due to price hike) and been happy with them so far. Stable and fast internet connection are all I need.

The Logitech MX Mechanical Mini is a compact mechanical keyboard that manages to do something surprisingly difficult: shrink down without making the typing experience feel cramped. At A$229.95, it sits in the premium end of the wireless keyboard market, but there’s a lot going on here that justifies a closer look.

If you are looking for a compact, wireless, mechanical keyboard for work and can easily be carried while travelling, this might be it.

The MX Mechanical Mini comes packaged with the keyboard itself, a Logi Bolt USB receiver, and a USB-C charging cable. It’s a clean, no-fuss box-opening experience that matches the keyboard’s overall minimalist character.

LOGITECH MX MECHANICAL MINI REVIEW – DESIGN AND FEATURES

The first thing you notice when you pull the MX Mechanical Mini out of the box is just how compact it is. The review sample I have here is a tenkeyless layout (no numpad) which cuts the footprint down considerably compared to a standard full-size board. Despite that, the keys themselves don’t feel squashed at all. Logitech has kept the key sizing and spacing sensible, so your fingers find their position naturally without having to adjust. I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I felt at home on it.

The low-profile switches mean the keyboard sits quite flat on the desk. For anyone who prefers a flatter typing angle, or who spends long hours at a keyboard and wants to keep their wrists in a more neutral position, this is going to feel noticeably better than a traditional raised mechanical board. But no mistake, there’s the usual tilt risers at the bottom of the keyboard.

Build quality feels solid. The matte key surface is pleasant to the touch, and the dual-colour keycaps make it easy to orient your fingers. The secondary function legends are clearly differentiated. Nothing about it feels plasticky or cheap, which matters at this price point.

However, if you work with numbers all day, the lack of a numpad will be an annoyance. Thankfully, Logitech does offer a full-size MX Mechanical model with an integrated numpad so that’s worth considering before you commit to the Mini version.

Features & Switches

The MX Mechanical Mini is available in three switch types: Tactile Quiet, Clicky, and Linear. And which one you choose will shape your entire experience with this keyboard. The Tactile Quiet variant is probably the safest pick for an office environment where you’d rather not broadcast every keystroke to the room. The Clicky switches give you that satisfying, audible click with each press if that’s your thing, while the Linear switches offer a smooth, uninterrupted keystroke without a tactile bump. There’s no single right answer here; it comes down to preference and where you plan to use it.

The backlighting is a nice touch and is quite practical. The keys are bright enough to work comfortably in a dimly lit room, and the brightness is adjustable, so you’re not stuck with one setting regardless of your environment. A hand proximity sensor lights the keyboard up when your hands approach and dims it when you step away. Quite a smart bit of engineering that helps stretch battery life without you having to think about it.

Speaking of battery life, Logitech quotes up to 15 days on a full charge with backlighting on, or an impressive 10 months with it switched off. Charging is via USB-C, which is the right call, means one less proprietary cable to hunt for (or batteries to buy), and you can charge while you work if needed.

Multi-device switching is one of the MX Mechanical Mini’s more practical strengths. You can pair it with up to three devices simultaneously and hop between them with a dedicated button press. Think switching from your work laptop to your tablet for a quick note, then back again or keeping a personal machine connected alongside your work setup. It works across Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, Linux, and iPadOS, which covers just about every scenario you’re likely to encounter.

Connectivity is handled through either Bluetooth or Logitech’s proprietary Logi Bolt USB receiver, which offers a more stable, lower-latency connection if you’re in a crowded wireless environment. The 10-metre wireless range is more than adequate for any desk setup.

In day-to-day use, the MX Mechanical Mini makes a strong case for the compact form factor. The size advantage is real. This keyboard slides comfortably into a laptop bag alongside your machine without adding meaningful bulk, which makes it useful for people who work across multiple locations or travel frequently. On a small desk, the reduced footprint means more room for your mouse, a notepad, or simply less clutter.

Logi Options+ is available on Windows and macOS and opens up customisation across Fn key functions, backlighting effects, app-specific profiles, and Smart Actions shortcuts. It’s optional. The keyboard works perfectly well without it but if you like to fine-tune your setup it’s a capable and reasonably well-designed app. Worth installing if you’re a power user; easy to ignore if you’re not.

LOGITECH MX MECHANICAL MINI REVIEW CONCLUSION

The Logitech MX Mechanical Mini is a well-executed compact mechanical keyboard that earns its place in the premium wireless category. It’s compact without feeling compromised, the multi-device switching is pretty useful, and the typing experience is comfortable enough for long work sessions. The A$229.95 price tag will give some buyers pause, but for the right user, someone who values portability, flexibility, and a clean desk, the MX Mechanical Mini is a strong choice and one of the better compact keyboards Logitech has put out.

But honestly, if compactness is not so much of an issue, I’d highly recommend the Logitech Wave Keys. It’s still my most recommended work keyboard, it’s more ergonomic, and the keys are much softer to press (which translates into better and faster typing experience for me) compared to the MX Mechanical Mini.

Jabra has announced three new additions to its Evolve3 professional headset lineup: the Evolve3 65 Flex, Evolve3 65, and Evolve3 45, each designed for a specific type of worker rather than trying to be a single solution for everyone. The three models join the existing Evolve3 75 and 85 at the top of the range, giving organisations a more structured upgrade path from the older Evolve2 series, which launched back in 2020. While you’re here, make sure to check out our review on Jabra Evolve2 75 and Evolve2 30.

All three new headsets share a common foundation: Jabra ClearVoice technology for voice isolation, in-call active noise cancellation (ANC), secure Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity, and centralised device management through Jabra Plus and Jabra Xpress. Jabra also claims over 99% voice pickup accuracy for AI tools in open-office environments, which is increasingly important as more workplace workflows rely on speech-to-text, meeting summaries, and other voice-driven features. That’s a compelling spec at a time when the quality of your microphone directly affects how well AI-powered tools perform.

The Evolve3 65 Flex is aimed at hybrid professionals who move between locations and shared workspaces. It carries over the foldable, mic arm-free design that made the Evolve2 65 Flex popular as a portable option, and builds on it with Adaptive 4-mic ANC with wind adaptability. Battery life is rated at up to 16 hours of talk time or 80 hours of music playback on a single charge, and it includes Spatial Sound and Super Wideband for a more natural call experience.

The Evolve3 65 is the option built for busy open offices where concentration is harder to come by. It uses Adaptive 4-mic ANC that adjusts dynamically to headset fit and surrounding noise conditions, paired with 3-mic ClearVoice technology optimised specifically for noisy, open spaces. A fully reversible mic arm adds flexibility, and battery life here is particularly strong at up to 31 hours of talk time. For anyone spending long stretches on calls in a loud shared space, the endurance alone makes this worth considering.

Rounding out the trio is the Evolve3 45, the lightest on-ear headset in the range at around 100 grams. It’s designed for desk-based workers who spend much of their day on calls, either in the office or from home and prioritises long-wearing comfort over feature depth. The mic arm is also reversible, and battery life comes in at up to 21 hours of talk time. It’s the no-frills option, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

All three models are certified for Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet, and support dual connectivity so users can be connected to both a computer and a mobile device simultaneously. Jabra has also included replaceable batteries and ear cushions, along with recycled or bio-circular materials and FSC-certified packaging, a practical nod to longevity and sustainability.

The Jabra Evolve3 65 Flex, Evolve3 65, and Evolve3 45 will be available globally in Black from September 2026. Australian pricing is set at AU$609, AU$529, and AU$369 respectively.

Apple’s Australian prices just went up across nearly the entire product range, and if you’ve been sitting on the fence […]

Apple’s Australian prices just went up across nearly the entire product range, and if you’ve been sitting on the fence about a new Mac or iPad, the timing isn’t great.

The increases cover the MacBook Neo, MacBook Air, iPad lineup, Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini, and more. The Mac mini is one of the harder pills to swallow – it’s jumped from AU$999 to AU$1,299, a 30% increase on a machine that used to be one of the easiest Apple products to justify on price alone. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 now opens at AU$3,199, up from AU$2,699, and the 15-inch MacBook Air has climbed AU$300 as well, from AU$2,199 to AU$2,499.

So what’s behind it? A big part of the answer is RAM. Memory prices have been climbing for a while now, and the AI boom is a major reason why. Data centres and AI accelerator cards are consuming memory at a scale that’s squeezing supply across the board and that pressure is flowing all the way down to consumer hardware. It wasn’t that long ago that PC builders were facing eye-watering component costs that made a new build feel almost impossible without paying a significant premium. Things have eased a little since then, but RAM hasn’t come back to where it was, and Apple, which solders its unified memory directly into the chip, passes those costs along without much room for the buyer to shop around.

Who Actually Feels This?

If you’re the kind of Apple user who upgrades every year or two regardless, you’re probably going to absorb this and move on. If you’re already in the ecosystem, already used to paying a premium, and already on a cycle, a few hundred dollars isn’t going to stop you. Apple knows this, and there’s a reason it keeps raising prices without losing its core buyers. Would I be buying or upgrading my iPhone 17 Pro to iPhone 18 Pro? Most likely, but will still need to see the price and new features.

But for everyone else? I think a lot of people are going to hold onto their current devices for another year and see how things shake out. And honestly, that’s probably the right call. Most iPhones and MacBooks released in the last three or four years are still perfectly capable machines. There’s nothing arriving right now that makes a compelling case for upgrading if your current device still does the job. No must-have feature, no groundbreaking hardware shift that changes how you actually use the thing day to day.

The buyers who are going to feel this most are the ones sitting in the middle: people who don’t upgrade every year, but were finally getting close to pulling the trigger. The Mac mini at AU$1,299 is a harder sell than it was at AU$999. The entry MacBook Pro at AU$3,199 is now in territory where it really needs to justify every dollar, especially when you factor in that extra storage and RAM are still sold at painful upgrade prices on top of the base cost.

Does It Change the Value Equation?

For most Australians, the honest answer is yes, at least a little. Apple hardware has never been cheap here, but there was always a point where the pricing felt roughly in line with what you were getting: quality build, long software support, good resale value. That calculation still holds for some products more than others.

The MacBook Air remains a strong machine, but at AU$2,499 for the 15-inch, it’s hard not to glance sideways at what else is available. Windows ultrabooks have been closing the gap in build quality, and for buyers who aren’t locked into the Apple ecosystem, the case for staying gets a little harder to make at these prices. I’m still on my GIGABYTE AORUS 15G and HP OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 and they are still perfectly capable for a lot of tasks.

The AirTag 2 and AirPods 4, interestingly, haven’t moved much in price, and right now they’re actually sitting at decent discounts at some retailers. If you were looking at Apple accessories rather than the bigger-ticket Macs and iPads, then it might be a good time to get before prices are increasing again.

What to Watch Next

RAM pricing is the variable to keep an eye on. If AI infrastructure build-out continues at its current pace (and all signs suggest it will), memory costs aren’t coming down significantly any time soon. That means these Apple prices are probably not a temporary blip. If anything, the more realistic scenario is that they hold or creep up further over the next 12 months.

For now, if your current device is working fine, there’s very little urgency to upgrade. If you need something today, shop around the remaining old-stock deals as some retailers still have pre-increase inventory sitting around. And if you’re looking at the Mac mini specifically, make sure AU$1,299 is actually the right product for your needs before committing, because the value case has narrowed considerably.

Australian Apple pricing has never been particularly kind, but this round of increases is one of the more noticeable ones in a while.

Overwatch’s new YOASOBI collaboration is live right now, and honestly? This is exactly the kind of event the game needs more of, because hey, we all love new collaborations which translates into new cool events and cosmetics!

Who are YOASOBI?

If you’re not already deep in the anime and J-pop world, YOASOBI might be a new name to you (like to me – even though I’ve watched a few anime). They’re a Japanese duo formed in 2019 made up of songwriter and producer Ayase and vocalist Ikura. Their whole concept is built around a genuinely clever idea: turning short fiction into music, with their narrative-driven songs originally based on stories submitted to a creative writing website. Every track starts with a story, and the music is built to carry that story’s emotion.

They broke through during the pandemic with their debut single “Yoru ni Kakeru” (Into the Night), which spread virally and became a phenomenon. From there, they kept building: writing anime opening themes, collaborating with major brands until their 2023 song “Idol,” written for the anime Oshi no Ko, held the number one spot on Billboard Japan’s Hot 100 for 22 consecutive weeks, breaking an all-time record, and became the first Japanese-language song to top the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart. If you’ve spent any time on anime TikTok or YouTube in the last few years, you’ve almost certainly heard their music without knowing it was them.

The reason the Overwatch pairing makes so much sense is that YOASOBI’s entire identity is built on storytelling through music which is exactly what Blizzard needed for a collab tied to a decade of Shimada lore.

What’s in the Overwatch x YOASOBI Collab?

The event runs from 30 June to 20 July 2026 and introduces six new Legendary skins for Kiriko, Genji, Hanzo, Mizuki, Juno, and Anran. The full lineup is:

Fox Star Kiriko

Dragon Star Genji

Dragon Star Hanzo

Spirit Star Mizuki

Fire Star Anran

Space Star Juno

All six skins feature enhanced ambient VFX and kanji-inspired motifs, and each comes with a dance emote set to YOASOBI’s original track “Orion.” So it’s not a generic emote but choreography made specifically for this collab, pretty cool. The sound effects are also quite subtle so they are not too distracting when you are playing.

Emojis:

New #Overwatch x YOASOBI Collab All Emotes💃✨

YOASOBI collaboration dance emotes for Kiriko, Anran, Juno, Kiriko, Mizuki, Hanzo, and Genji have been added! pic.twitter.com/fRs7pWEwjg
— Naeri X 나에리 (@OverwatchNaeri) June 30, 2026

Beyond the skins, the in-game shop has added over 40 cosmetics total, including name cards, player icons, voice lines, weapon charms, and sprays. You can grab everything via the YOASOBI Mega Bundle (currently at a 66% discount for 6,900 Coins), or pick individual hero bundles at 2,800 Coins each. If you’re planning to grab two or more hero skins, the mega bundle is obviously the better deal.

There are also eight free challenges to complete during the event, rewarding name cards, voice lines, a weapon charm, a player icon, and 30,000 XP.

Blizzard actually commissioned YOASOBI to write a completely original song based on Overwatch lore.

“Orion” is built around the Shimada brothers’ reunion story, with Kiriko sitting at the centre. The song title itself references Orion’s Belt: three stars, separated but always in view, as a metaphor for Kiriko, Genji, and Hanzo (source: The Magic Rain). The song is the opening track on YOASOBI’s new EP THE BOOK for,, which also has a limited Overwatch vinyl edition. And the animated music video (coming soon) is being produced by A-1 Pictures, the studio behind Sword Art Online and Solo Leveling, according to Kotaku.

Here’s a teaser:

There’s also a new short story, “The Fall of a Sparrow,” written by E.C. Myers, where Genji returns to Tokyo to investigate the Hashimoto clan’s growing influence and runs into Hanzo and Kiriko along the way. It’s clearly building toward something larger in Season 3.

Overwatch collaborations can often feel like they exist purely to sell skins, like a big name attached to characters who have no real connection to the game’s world. This one is different. YOASOBI actually did their homework, studying the Shimada lore going back a decade, and Blizzard gave them the creative space to write something that feels specific to these characters.

The skins look great (they also have special visual and sound effects) and you can also earn free cosmetics through gameplay is a nice touch.

The collaboration ends 20 July 2026, so if you’re thinking about getting the skins, don’t sit on it too long.
