The Reinvention of a Blogger

Hello,

It's been a while. I bet you don't even remember this blog at all! My name is Edmiary and I am from Puerto Rico, a small island in the Caribbean.

It's awesome to meet you if you're new and great to reconnect if you're an old reader. So, let me tell you a bit about what's been going on, like a little catch-up.
I still love reading books, but in the time you haven't heard from me I've also picked up new fascinations and things to goo-goo gaga over, like shoes and lipsticks and things that glitter. So instead of this just being a book blog, I'm going to be expanding it to post about all sorts of things. This also means the whole blog in under construction since the whole theme will be changing. So please be aware many links and redirects may be inaccurate for the time being.

In the time I've been gone I've also had job switches once or twice.Worked in retail at the beginning of last year for about a month or two. I was so sad when I got downsized, it broke my heart because I very unexpectedly adored my job as a sales person. Funnily enough, I used to run the opposite way of retail. I'd apply to anything except retail and now I love my job and I love shoes and fashion and makeup and it's so crazy because in high school I was always that girl that didn't even wear lip-gloss and walked around with messy hair and a coffee stain on my white polo shirt not giving a flying fuck. And to be quite honest, that's still me from time to time, but mostly I'm a changed woman. I actually enjoy putting on makeup and twirling in dresses and wearing red lipstick and oh gosh I finally understand because you just feel so cool and happy and beautiful and even, dare I say, artistic! I also look... a bit different. Gone are all my wild brown curls and in is my short bob cut... thing. Also, it's white.

All These Awkward Smiles

I also did some office temp jobs for a while, took some time from school, and now I'm working in another Credit Union. I can't complain, it's a pretty cool job, my co-worker and boss are nice, and it's a pretty solid full-time gig.

Last year was good. So great! I complain a lot, but the reality is that if I don't dwell on the upsetting parts, it was a very good year; solid, full of growth. I also turned 21 finally, which feels the same, really. I had a little freak-out when I turned 20, but I think it was mostly a shock because I would no longer be a teenager, officially. So, I was sort of expecting it to be a little sad, perhaps that bittersweet feeling of loss and the scary unknown, the amounting responsibilities and sense of confusion when perhaps you should have it figured out. But it's so uneventful. I'm already 22!

On to more blog related topics, I still do read, yes, in case you are wondering, I just haven't been reviewing. But I do admit I haven't been as fully immersed into the book world as I used to be. I've been exploring beauty and fashion and music a lot.
I'll be active on the blog again (hopefully, lol) so I really hope you enjoy my posts and if you ever have any questions or any suggestions or like book recommendations or wanna gush with me about anything then just feel free to do it! I love talking in general, so don't be shy about reaching out.

1. You are most happy when you are:

2. What is your favorite time of day (morning/afternoon/night)?

Night, people are asleep, pretenses are down, and the whole world is alive.

3. If you could be famous for only one thing, what would it be?

My sheer brilliance, my charm, or my dashing good looks. I’ll let you pick.

4. You've just woken up alone, in the dark, and you're not sure where you are. Explain yourself.

This whole question is pointless. If I’m waking up in the dark then I was probably asleep, hence the waking up—and the dark means nighttime, which is when you sleep. And I am often sleeping alone, since the one person I want will never wake up beside me…

Anyway, I rarely know where I am since I’m all over the place, so this would be nothing new. The only time I know where I am is when I’m in my quarters because the smell of cinnamon will never leave my home because of my mother’s baking, but that is rare. I often have to determine my location based on what’s going on, the noises around me and the people who are familiar. So I would quickly figure out where I was.

Even if I didn’t know those things I’d be okay, since I spend most of my time in the darkness, alone, with no knowledge of where I am.

It’d be better to ask a different question next time. Make it provide something of value, a piece of information that you can use later. All of this was pointless.

5. Choose one color of the rainbow as your favorite and tell us why you chose it.

I don't have to tell you anything, but out of kindness and in respect to the curiosity that I’m sure will consume you, I will throw you a bone.

My Review: How do I start this review? Hm. Maybe I can start by bowing to Penny Reid. Yup, that's the place to start. You genius piece of fabulous writer!

I read Penny's first book in the Knitting in the City series, Neanderthal Seeks Human. I adored that book very, very much. I'm not going to expand much, but one of the main reasons I liked it so much was because Janie was so atypically smart and so uncomfortable in the social scene. I learned many cool facts from her and I laughed at all her antics. A lot of times I didn't particularly comprehend her, but really it just made her all the more real.
In this case, Elizabeth, who is Janie's best friend, is not shy or awkward. She's a bit rough around the edges and a bit of a tomboy.

Enters Nico.

Niccolò Manganiello you hot, sexy piece of fine Italian specimen. Okay, so from his first appearance I was pretty much a goner. He oozes charm like he learned before he even learned to walk. He's smooth, hot, funny and is very concerned over his niece which is simply heart-warming.
Elizabeth is still very much stuck in this whole awkward phase around Nico, I just feel for the poor woman. It's like she doesn't even know how to act. She's nervous because of all the things that happened in their past, but she just can't shake away the awareness for him or the attraction.
Nico is very persistent towards Elizabeth, he really likes her and he wants to be with her, but Elizabeth is just... well she's seriously muddled over everything. Elizabeth is a strong woman, but she's also very hard-headed and as much as Nico tries to tell her that she can move on from everything it's like she's stuck She isn't giving herself another chance at love. The dynamic between Nico and Elizabeth was simply explosive. They were great together, Nico was always teasing her and trying to get a rise out of her and it was fun to see Elizabeth's reactions.

Anywho... Now if I told you everything then what would be the point of you reading it, right? So, just trust me here and go read!

Where I Salute and Tell What's Up

Hi guys! I have been pretty scarce these past months, I know, but I've been rather busy. I'm not gonna give up the blog or shut it down, but I will be posting much less frequently than I used to.

This year I have decided that I am going to try and be healthier, more responsible school-wise and more active. All of this basically goes against blogging! I'll be spending much less time reading and blogging and more time studying and actually doing exercise and stuff (I've already started exercising and my bff is helping me out. He doesn't go easy on me and simply walking makes my thighs hurt!) I've already also started making myself have a daily study session.

It is quite a struggle, but I am determined to make it a damn habit! I even have this nifty agenda/planner where I write everything down and set times for things I have to do. It's like an actual planner, not a digital one, so I feel all scholarly and stuff pulling it out everyday and planning my study materials for the day and jotting down assignments. Anyway, so yeah I just wanted to tell you guys and stuff because you're all awesome and read my blog. Also wish me luck and a strong will! :)

But after the super-cute Milo kisses Chloe during a game of hide-and-seek, she finally understands what Emery means when she talks about SAS being "out of this world." If this is what Saturn feels like, Chloe doesn't want to come back to Earth.

My Review: I loved, loved, loved, loved this book! Didn't catch that? I LOVED it. It makes all my fangirl insides jump around and do a freaking conga line! Ah, the sweet, sweet fangirl language; how beautiful it is and how awesome Nikki made it. This book is so very cool and fun and sweet. It's like the ultimate fangirl dream. (My case would be One Direction and I'm sorry Noah, but you'd be Harry; anyway I doubt Chloe would appreciate it if I tried something.) I loved how real Spaceships Around Saturn was, like I felt as though they were a real band; I felt the need to suddenly put on their music halfway through the book and then I remembered they don't exist... Thanks for that Nik :(
LOL anyway! The book was great. Of course there is a lot of drama, I mean hello a famous Canadian boy band and 3 girls in one house? Recipe for disaster. Emery, who is 5, is mega obsessed with Benji, who is the lead singer, and then there's Tate who's goofy and all and just laughs at everything. We have Noah who is actually kinda goofy as well, although not as much as Tate and he's a great friend to Milo. Then of course we must have a badboy, which is Jules. Aralie, the middle sister who is 17, is a total firecracker and Jules being an ass, he just gets under her skin. All their fights? Priceless. I loved those so much, she's so explosive and so is he.
Milo was incredible. He was sweet and mature and so perfect for Chloe. Chloe is the eldest and she's 18. She starts to get thess Saturnite feelings like 5 seconds after SAS arrive and she gets a whiff of Milo (sounds creepy, I know lol).
Oh God I just spoke of them like reciting One Direction fun facts... moving on.
Lots of drama, jokes, sneaking (wink, wink!), arguing and bonding. It's a lovely story and I'd definitely recommend it. But if you hate boy bands, this may not be the book for you, so sorry you're missing out on the greater things in life.

I AM A SATURNITE. God Nikki what have you done to me? I'm pretty sure I look as creepy as Emery with her crazy taxidermy hyena laugh and my roommate will probably be afraid of me from now on... So thanks for making me look like a weirdo!

My Review: This was not what I expected but kind of yes. Some parts I did expect, but then not really. Kalli and Nate have been very good friends for years, since they were kids actually. Nate and is not one of those guys you just hook up with. he's a relationship kinda guy. Kalli is one crazy, crazy chick. She's all for the thrill and my God she's such a hornball! She was raped as a child, by her mother's boyfriend at the time. Because of that she has this thing where she feels panicked when locked in a room alone with a man. So, basically she gets some sick thrill on having sex being almost caught. It's crazy! But Kalli is a very complex character and I love Berto for it. Even though she's this wild child and crazy party animal, she's very ... good. I don't know, it's strange, I guess. We all have ways of making ourselves de-stress and feel better and partying and fucking are her way. Her mother is addicted to drugs and drinks all the time. She's the one who's always looking afer her twin baby brothers and also her mother.(Her mother was a whole other huge case.) She's just a good person, sure she has her pretty big flaws, but really Ithink it's just her wayof coping with everything.
Nate is an all around great guy. From the beginning they have this huge chemistry that's so palpable. Kalli is not used to this. She's used to just fucking and being thrilled by sex and exposure and all tose wild, naughty things, but with Nate it's different. At first she's just blocking out the way she feels, because it's different and she's afaraid of acknowledging it all and worse, acting on it. Things get pretty steamy between them and Nate wants more, but she treats it like some mindless hook-up and that's when things gets sticky.
I adored Nate because he was just an awesome guy and he was good andit was so cute how he got so embarrassed and mortified whenever Kalli was blunt about sex. But then really, he has his wild side as well and he'sjust the perfect guy for Kalli.

My Review: First I want to say that I was supposed to post this as part of the Blog Tour last week. Unfortunately my computer had some dumbass glitch and it has been impossible for me to post it until now. I want to apologize to everyone that organized the tour and the author because I missed my date. I never do this, it's never happened before and I honestly feel terrible to let everyone down!
Again, I'm really sorry, but well... here is my review.
Okay, so I read The Kiss Off and I loved it. This sequel is just the freaking perfect sequel! I loved it sooo much! It was so fun and such a crazy ride. A lot of action; paps, catfights, breakups and all sorts of emotional wreckage. Also, it was a complete surprise for me that Poppy took Nikki! Then she has to take her cousin as a chaperon, ugh uncool. I love Poppy. Seriously, this girl is just the best, I swear she's my idol! No, she's not perfect, far from it. She makes a lot of mistakes, she can be selfish, and just completely irrational, but I loved that I feel like she could be me, or my best friend. A real person who makes rash decisions and can be blinded by jealousy or other things. I also love her attitude. Anyway, so yes you should totally read this because it is so good! It's great!

It's very simple, but very cool. I love how the heart is made with blood splatters; it gives it a danger vibe that I love. I adored Kenya's collab with D.T Dyllin in Hot Redemption so I'm definitely excited to read this!

My Ex From Hell is a YA romantic comedy/Greek mythology smackdown. Love meets comedy with a whole lot of sass in book 1 of this teen fantasy romance series. Compared to Kai and Sophie, Romeo and Juliet had it easy.

My Review: I am a total fan of Greek mythology so of course I was instantly attracted to reading this. And I'm glad I gave it a read. So, it turns out that Sophie is Persephone. CRAZY.
And the new hottie? Kai? Um, yeah he's Prince of the Underworld. Talk about falling for the bad boy. This story is full of fun twists and adventures and so many laughs. It was hilarious! It's cute, but it has action. It's cool with some edge and I looved Sophie!
I definitely recommend you don't miss out on this one! :)

My Review: This book was pretty good. I wasn't very sure what to expect but Brandon really is a criminal. Not watered down, he just is. Then Claire is just so sweet, but she's witty, you know? She has spunk, so she's not like defenseless and under Brandon's paw, no. I loved their banter and their chemistry, they just fit somehow. The dynamic between them was fantastic and the story has very unexpected turn of events that at a first impression left me doubting but they just fit with them. The circumstances, the scene. Very well thought out and interesting.

My Review: AH-MAZING. It brought so many surprises. I mean can we talk about how Logan kills her [Paige's] brother? I don't think I've ever read a more heart-wrenching story. Seriously, I'd barely gotten to 50% of the book and I'd cried three times. It was so emotional and so very, very real. I love how it wasn't just this, "Oh okay, I forgive you." No. It took a process. A healing process. An acceptance proccess. For both Paige and Logan. It was emotional and so many things were sooo very unexpected. I'm trying to hold it all in and not speak of spoilers, but the feels are huge so I think I'll make a vlog later to properly express all my feels and speak uncensored.
This is like a total tiny spoiler, kind of, because really I'm gonna be very vague, but... the forgiveness scene. Like open forgiveness. Beautiful. I wailed like a baby. It was so tender, so amazing and beautiful and perfect. And dear Christ, Logan isjust so incredible. It's all very sad. I wanna weep again just thinking about it all! Gah I'm gonna read this again soon.
I think I have a discovered a new great author. Yes! So looking forward ro reading more of her works.

CB: When was the first time you said, "This is what I want to do! This [writing] is my thing."

Jus: Growing up I was always going to be either a writer or a chef, but I think the moment came right before I was set to start classes at the C.I.A. It was a spot decision and I haven't regretted it once :P

CB: What's your favorite ice cream topping?

Jus: Hot fudge. But not the kind that gets all clumpy or hard as it cools. Friendly's is my fave.

CB: When you think up a new idea for a novel how long does it usually take you to decide if you want to start writing it or it'll be discarded?

Jus: It varies. Sometimes I'll get 50% through, sometimes it's only a few chapters. Sometimes, like with Ruined, I'll get 50% though, then put it aside with the intention to toss it, but go back later on. I have sooooo many started books on my computer. It's a little scary.

CB: What place in the world would you really love to visit that you have not, yet?

Jus: I would love to see Italy or Ireland. But, sadly, I'm terrified to fly :D

CB: If I asked you to describe RUINED in three words, which would you say?

Jus: Sexy, dark, and different.

My Review: What a beautiful story! From the beginning it's amazing and it's so heart-wrenching. I squealed and cried and oohed and aahed incessantly! Scarlett captures a first love fabulously well and I loved how her writing just flowed everywhere, it was natural, I could lose myself and forget I was reading–I felt there. The characters were so real, so solid, the story so genuine, I felt it all just come alive and leave me wanting more! I'm so excited to have found this new author, I just know I'll love her other works if they're as awesome as this one!

My Review: This book was really good. It was very confusing at first and I wasn't very convinced, but once you start understanding a few things you get sucked in. It was compelling, eerie and strange. I thought it was pretty fresh and I enjoyed it very much. I wasn't very enthused with Cheyenne because she wasn't a very strong personality in my opinion. It's like she just let herself be tugged by Teo like his little puppet, no matter what. It's very sinister and dark and I got goosebumps reading about it. I can't be sure exactly what my thoughts are on this whole scene but I can tell you that it was very creative and I loved how different it was and how incredible it all was. It's a wild ride, so sit tight and enjoy :)
