Here are some absolutely amazing items that put a new spin on buying gold! From mundane to over-the-top, nothing glitters quite like the gold in these highly unique items!

1. The Gold Bathroom In Hong Kong

You certainly won’t top the bathroom at the Hang Fung Gold Technology jewelry store in Hong Kong. This custom-made room features a pair of 900-lb solid gold toilets, gold sink fixtures and a matching gold sink, gold artwork and tiles on the walls, and a gold ceiling. The room cost nearly $5 million to construct and is a popular tourist attraction. If you need to use the golden facilities, you’ll need to buy gold (at least $128 worth) in the store.

2. The Gold Porsche In Russia

Unlike the bathroom in Hong Kong, the Gold Porsche in Russia isn’t quite as – well – gold. The car, which is a working model, is covered in about 40 pounds of gold. The gold covers every exterior metal surface of the vehicle, including the exhaust pipe. Inside, you’ll find gold floor mats that enhance an otherwise standard interior. A novel way to buy gold for your investment portfolio!

3. The Gold Bicycle in Sweden

If a gold Porsche isn’t your style, consider tooling around town on this gold bicycle. This flashy gold and crystal number will set you back about USD$100,000 but you will certainly be the talk of the town. Your new ride comes with a leather Brooks saddle and Swarovski crystals for good measure. Aurumania, the manufacturer of the bike issued only 10 of these bikes, so even if the price of gold drops, the value of the bike as a collector’s item will certainly rise.

4. The Gold iPhone in London

If you haven’t spent enough on the data plan for your iPhone, you might consider upgrading to an iPhone made of gold. These 24k versions of the iPhone will keep you polishing both sides of your mobile for months to come. In all fairness, the iPhone in question is gold-plated, but you can pick one up for a cool USD$2,000.

5. The Gold iPad in London

As long as you’re buying gold in London (and if you’re into Apple stuff) check out the Stuart Hughes gold iPad. (It will match your gold iPhone above.) The iPad is a standard issue Apple iPad that wears a 22k solid gold case. Not special enough? Would it seal the deal if the Apple logo were adorned with 53 flawless diamonds? It can be yours for about USD$190,000.

6. Gold Pencils in Korea

If the rest of the items on this list are out of your price range, consider a gold-plated Number 2 pencil for just $20. Korean designer Daisung Kim is hoping to make math class just a little more interesting by mixing graphite and gold.

7. The Gold Beer Mug in Japan

If you think you can’t use “classy” and “beer mug” in the same sentence, then you should think again! Ginza Tanaka, Japan’s premiere jeweler is offering an 850 mg beer mug that’s loaded with all the class you can chug. Your new best friend will set you back about $50,000 but you’re sure to impress your friends for at least the first few rounds.

8. The Gold Coffin in Italy

Who says you can’t take it with you? Art Funeral Italy whipped up a one-of-a-kind casket made of 24-karat gold and displayed it at the 2010 Verona Luxury and Yacht Show. If the casket itself isn’t odd enough, it also comes with a gold-plated touch screen cell phone that’s meant to accompany the dearly departed.

For many people, the biggest obstacle to getting accepted into an elite MBA program is their own attitude. Often would-be applicants are intimidated by their preferred school’s exclusive reputation and abandon their dreams because they think they’d never be accepted. A recent article at BusinessMBA.org outlines how to navigate the admissions process calmly. Simply getting a grip on understanding how it all works can go a long way towards gaining the confidence needed to get accepted into an elite MBA program. Here are some of their recommendations:

Understand what the school is looking for

Consider which alumni make the school famous. That is the type of character they seek.

Think like a marketer, not a student

Instead of just applying and hoping for the best, you should market yourself to the school. Show them exactly why they want you.

Abandon “all-or-none” thinking

Get rid of the idea that you’re not good enough to be accepted into the MBA program. Chances are, you fit into a profile the school loves to accept.

Do your competitive research

The admissions criteria is not a mystery. If you do the research you can usually find in-depth information about the student bodies of most elite business schools. By studying this information you can find out the median GMAT score of the students, their ages, undergraduate majors and other data points. See where you fit in the picture.

Craft a compelling career vision

If you don’t have a compelling career vision, create one worthy of the school you are applying to. Use the essay section of your application to describe your exciting career ambitions.

Ensure that your career vision is believable

While your ambitions should be compelling, they also need to be believable. Make sure the goals you describe relate to your education and professional history. Do not simply make up something outlandish that you think will impress the admissions board. This will only make you look foolish.

Convey a strong intellect and academic background

Make sure your undergraduate GPA and GMAT scores are in line with the school’s student body. If you fall a little short, your essay will need to be strong enough to overcome it.

Use extracurricular activities to demonstrate leadership traits

Your extracurricular activities are important to elite business schools. Your experiences should portray you as a leader with empathy, social skills, motivation and self-confidence. You should frame your extracurricular experience to highlight your strongest leadership traits.

Be strategic about your letters of recommendation

Since you don’t get to write an endless amount of essays during the application process, you need to make sure to not only make the essays count, but you should also make your letters of recommendation come from people who matter. Don’t choose random people to write letters for you, choose people at the top of their fields — their opinions matter more.

Be yourself during the interview

If you make it far enough to be invited to an interview, the school likes what they’ve seen so far and is seriously considering you. Take a deep breath and calm down. You’ll need to be your charming, confident, intelligent self at the interview. There’s no need to rehearse what you’ll say, just relax and speak naturally and let the real you shine through.

Following these suggestions will help you stack the deck in your favor and ace the admissions process. Arm yourself with information, ditch your negative thoughts and go for it.

If you struggle with consistency, motivation, or just need a plain old push in the right direction then this list is for you. One of the toughest battles we face daily is our mental toughness, which potentially leads to lack of nutrition, exercise efficiency, and a whole lot of other issues. I know there are endless myths and recommendations to improve your health, but which do you trust and why? So, ask yourself what do I have to lose by trying these 5 tips out?

1. Think Less

Generally, most people looking to improve their health and fitness have a common theme. It’s not weight loss, muscle gain, or improving their diet. It’s paralysis by analysis. Healthy living has become so complex and frustrating for so many people, instead of it being small and simple daily life decisions, we turn it into this huge ordeal. People need to stop sweating the small things and focus on the big picture. Start simple and eat more natural foods: fruits, veggies, lean protein sources, and healthy fats. It can be a struggle for certain people to eat these kinds of foods, simply swap them out gradually if needed. Make sure to find an eating schedule that works for you, whether its 3 or 6 meals, find a way to space them out at least 4-6 hours to let your body digest all the proper nutrients. Limit the processed foods and refined sugars and hit the gym at least 3 times of week, and give it 100% when doing so. Most importantly, find a training routine you are interested in, do not just follow a trend or else you will lose focus and interest. Try different things, maybe sports if necessary to give you that push, at the end of the day exercise is exercise and it’s 1% better to living a healthier life, bottom line. When you think too much, you often don’t take action. So start slow and I promise it will be effective and you will gradually get a feel for what your short, medium, and long term goals will be.

2. Track your progress

A Very simple action everyone is capable of taking is being accountable for what they do. You must track your progress daily when training. We are in the gym to get results, in order to get results we must track our progress to see where we are and where we need to improve day in day out. From personal experience, I never used to have a training journal, and I learned the hard way, it was one of the worst mistakes I made. By tracking your reps, sets, weight, and how you feel will put you one step ahead of the game. There is nothing better than looking back at where you started and how much you have progressed. So, get a basic journal or use your handy dandy smart phone to track your progress.

3. Reward yourself

In every area of life, we create an expectation that good performance will yield some additional benefit. In your personal life, it’s a grand vacation. In your occupation, it’s a demanded raise. Health and fitness should be no different; we work hard on our bodies mentally and physically day in and day out. As I said earlier you should be setting short, medium, and long term goals, then rewarding yourself with things that matter most to you or bring you joy. Not only does this concept remind you that you have done a great job, it gives you more motivation for your next goal. It is ok to bribe yourself, at the end of the day if it helps you eat better and keeps you in the gym consistently then by all means bribe away.

4. Read Food Labels

This is very crucial when going grocery shopping; many of us make the mistake of not taking 30 seconds to a minute to read food labels and ingredients in what we purchase. If you haven’t noticed our wonderful Government and FDA love to market healthy foods for their consumers. The thing is, most of what they market and say is healthy, is not! It is all processed, chemical injected garbage. Taking the time to read your food labels can really make an impact on your health. For example, when buying Wheat bread, make sure the ingredients say “Whole Wheat Flour” and not “Enriched Wheat Flour”. Buying enriched wheat flour is as good as buying regular white bread, it’s not real wheat! Another example is to watch out for the refined sugars, such as “High Fructose Corn Syrup and Sucralose”. These are pretty much the same as table sugar, sugar is the devil! Make sure you read the food labels and ingredients; you never really know what manufacturers are putting in food these days.

5. Challenge Your Beliefs

We all have our personal preferences, and that’s fine. Many of us are stubborn about our ways and what we believe in. In today’s world, I truly believe you must have an open mind, many people are close minded and very ignorant, and I am really not sure why. There are so many different trends in the health and fitness industry; at the end of the day you are the one that has to make the choice of which to follow and why it’s most optimal for you. Keeping an open mind will make these decisions that much easier for you to make. The way to improve health globally is to improve education and reduce ignorance. I am constantly learning new things and many of the things I knew yesterday won’t necessarily be true tomorrow. I am ok admitting I am wrong about something, as long as I am informed and can help make people live a better and healthier life. Fitness and science is constantly evolving, we must evolve as well, we have to understand that and accept it. Challenge your beliefs and always have an open mind!

After all, once a tooth has been knocked out it can’t be put back in without a little interventional dentistry. Tooth loss can happen for a variety of reasons, but these celebrities demonstrate that losing some a few teeth doesn’t necessarily ruin a smile. Dental assistant schools around the US are filled with students who have been inspired by this kind of celebrity dental work!

Harrison Ford

The iconic screen star didn’t cut his acting teeth in such notable film series’ as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Blade Runner, The Fugitive and Clear and Present Danger before breaking his teeth doing stunt work for television. This early-career injury, which reportedly claimed all four of his top front teeth, didn’t stop Ford, who still wanted to do his own stunts. Stunt work has cost the actor dearly. He’s seriously injured both knees, his back and has gathered numerous scars while practicing his craft.

Daniel Craig

The newest James Bond found himself in another bloody mess during the filming of the remake of Casino Royale in the Czech Republic. Daniel Craig was reportedly relieved of his front teeth while filming his very first fight scene for the movie in 2006. The actor took a hit to the mouth full speed in a scene that definitely went wrong. Craig put a call into his dentist in London, who flew to the actor’s aid and fitted him with a couple of caps.

James Dean

The hunky heartthrob of the 1950′s (whose father was a dental technician) was raised on a farm in Indiana after his mother’s death when James was just nine. James was playing in the barn with his cousin on a trapeze the boys had rigged, and swung himself into a pipe, which knocked out both front teeth. That didn’t slow Dean down a bit. After graduating from high school, Dean moved back to California to live with his father and stepmother. He enrolled in UCLA as a pre-law student, but later switched his major to drama. Eventually, he dropped out of college to pursue acting full-time.

Janice Dickinson

1970′s supermodel Janice Dickinson revealed that she has two false teeth. The former model, who is still slim and attractive at age 56, related the story of losing her “slippers” at a fancy New York City restaurant. With the help of several other diners, Dickinson was able to retrieve the teeth and put them back to work after giving them a good rinse. She confesses that aging isn’t a pretty prospect to her but laughed off the incident.

Evan Rachel Wood

Earlier this year, film actress Evan Rachel Wood celebrated her 24th birthday in Paris by going dancing at a club. She later celebrated by having a little restorative dental work done after taking an elbow to the mouth. The accidental shot knocked out one of Woods’ teeth. Shocked at first, Wood now keeps her departed tooth in a decorative box, and soldiers on with a (slightly) fake smile.

Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey may have an unbeatable Hollywood smile, but he put his best (real) teeth forward for his work on the Dumb and Dumber movie. Carrey, who normally wears a cap over a broken front tooth, had the restoration removed for his work on the film. The damaged dental work did the trick for Carrey, who used it to polish up the role of goofy Lloyd Christmas. Carrey said he damaged his tooth when he was a child but was all too happy to share a slightly different image of himself with the world.

Once considered a service for desperate people only, online dating services are now used by a multitude of single people across the planet. For a variety of reasons, using the internet to find dates can be easier — and more dangerous — than dating in real life. Anyone can become anyone else when hiding behind a screen, and that can make it hard to tell who’s real and who is a psychotic clinical murderer waiting to fry and consume your genitals. So what’s the clinical psychology behind the business of being yourself? Online dating makes even the most honest of us into liars, can create long-lasting marriages or a million terrible first dates, and is only getting more popular every day.

Liar Liar Pants on Fire

Women are 59% and 42% of men likely to lie about weight on their dating site profiles — and the same goes for age. Men are more likely to lie about their height, however. These lies are often not considered as such by the liars, who make small ‘adjustments’ and call it ‘stretching the truth’ or some other illusionary term. It seems like no one can be honest when it’s so easy not to be, and when constantly bombarded with ads and media encouraging us to be ‘better’ than we already are. The clinical psychology is simple: women don’t like short men, size does matter, fat people can’t be loved, old people are unwanted, and money is God; these are all lies we buy into on a daily basis, pressuring us to lie to others in order to feel more desirable. While it’s understandable to feel a little confused about self-acceptance and what women want (unless you’re Mel Gibson), the real problem seems to be when the two people meet up. A woman is obviously going to notice that a 5’8 man is actually 5’5, and the same goes for a man who thinks he’s meeting a 120lb girl and is greeted by someone 40 pounds heavier. Psychology, through studies, has discovered that those happy with themselves are typically involved in healthier and longer relationships — prompting the thought that maybe the magnifying glass should be turned inwards instead of on other people’s physical appearances and how they compare to a magazine’s idea of attractive. To be fair, most people aren’t lying about 40 pounds — it’s more like 5 or 10.

Selling Points

Studies have revealed what works and what doesn’t. From profile pictures to keywords used in the description area, there are some simple ways to garner more attention, messages, and interested suitors.

In OKCupid’s clinical psychology study of <a href=http://www.spring.org.uk/2010/09/online-dating-10-psychological-insights.php">profile pictures, bullet points were created to summarize the most and least popular profile picture poses. Women who received the most messages typically had pictures of themselves looking directly into the camera with a flirty gaze. Men, on the other hand, got the most attention for pictures of themselves looking away from the camera with a serious face on. Guys making a flirty face got significantly less messages than those looking away with a serious face.

People having the longest internet conversations tended to be those who posed for pictures with an animal, while doing something interesting (sports, playing a game, in a costume) or visiting an interesting location (beautiful mountain tops or other travel locations). The shortest conversations were associated with those whose pictures featured themselves in bed, hanging out with their friends, or drinking.

Emotion is another big selling point for dating site profiles. A Rosen et al clinical psychology study in 2008 found that using positive, emotional words like ‘excited’ and ‘wonderful’ made a better impression on interested parties than stiff profiles without much feeling. However, emotion doesn’t necessarily mean disclosure — the study also found that people were looking for a high level of positivity and feeling but a low level of disclosure. No one wants to learn another’s entire life story on their page. Not only does it take away from the intimacy of learning such details in person, but an individuals willingness to bare all in front of complete strangers is a huge red flag and usually represents emotional instability.

Opposites Do Not Attract

Contrary to popular belief, opposites don’t attract. People actually want people who are similar to themselves, not someone who is drastically different. Data examined in a clinical psychology study in 2005 (based on 65,000 online daters) revealed that people were choosing based on their own traits. This would explain the slew of niche dating sites popping up; they exist for Jews, Christians, sports fans, nerds, and even goths.

Although people are looking for themselves, there are a vast majority of self-seekers out there; the dating pool is incredibly diverse. Another clinical psychology study in 2009 revealed that couples who met online tended to have disparities between education and age greater than those who met in more traditional manners.

Clinical Psychology Examines the Negative Side

Some psychologists are firm believers that online dating is one of the absolute worst ways to find love. Key Sun, a PHD in the Justice and Responsibility League, believes that the lies and impersonality of a screen creates negativity before a relationship even begins. He uses psychology to explain that the fibs mentioned earlier can harm more than help. He goes on to mention that each sex values different qualities in a partner, which can lead to a lot of useless profile-scrutinizing. Sun makes a good point when he says that healthy relationships are based upon genuine concern for the other, understanding, and acceptance. There are a number of other components as well, but engaging in meaningful interactions is more likely to happen face-to-face where a real emotional connection can be made, rather than online after examining a person’s filled out preferences and deeming them worthy of an IM chat. Sun also mentions that many people turn to online dating after failed relationships or rejections, and says that using a screen to find love can be completely useless to the healing process — creating a couple with unnecessary baggage or issues left over from past problems.

Others have even speculated that online dating can make a person depressed; those who take rejection to heart may be more hurt when their messages are ignored, as opposed to being rejected in person. This is because on a dating site, a person has already expressed their interest in a mate — causing many people to examine the ‘problems’ on their own profiles when messages go unanswered.

But Does it Work?

Ultimately, we just want to know if the damn thing works. How successful are online daters? There A 2009 clinical psychology study found that 6% of married couples had met online in the UK, 5% in Spain and 9% in Australia. Younger people, however, had much higher numbers.

In the US, 42% of couples between 26 and 35 met online. In the UK, 21% of married couples between 19 and 25 first met online. No clear numbers on the longevity of these marriages exist — yet. One thing is known for sure: online dating is definitely here to stay, whether it’s healthy and successful or not. The truth is that it’s easy and the screen gives an added ‘security’ or blanket of safety, which is a convenience most people will be pretty reluctant to let go of.

You say you want a nice butt. You talk about how you’re going to get your butt in great shape. Well here’s your opportunity to get that butt that you’ve always desired. When you’re in the gym, have these tips on a note pad, journal, I Pod, smart phone, or have them ingrained in your head. Here are 5 tips that will get your glutes to salute! Guys put your egos aside and read on, if you only knew how important it is for men to have strong glutes.

You want a firm butt, hit some damn weight then! If you are one of those people that believe in traditional body-weight circuits being able to shape the glutes sufficiently, then you are dead wrong! Beginners are probably the only people that can get away with body weight circuits because their glutes get a great stimulation from not being used to any type of muscular adaption in that region. As you get experienced, your body becomes more advanced, this is where you need to overload the glutes with weights in order to stimulate muscle growth. As you progress, add in more challenging exercises that include using weights so you get that full muscle stimulation and growth in the glutes. You need to overload the glutes to get them to grow folks.

Get your ass under a bar and thrust! Now I’ll cut some of you some slack because this movement has been under the radar for too long, but now that I’m telling you about it, you have to promise to include this into your regimen if you want your glutes to salute! Enter the barbell hip thrust. The barbell hip thrust was invented by Brett Contreras, the godfather of glute training. He said “When the knees stay bent, the hamstrings are placed in “active insufficiency,” which means that they’re shortened and cannot contract with maximal force. Since the hamstrings can’t produce sufficient force, more work is placed upon the glutes to get the job done. This is why bent legged hip extension exercises such as bridge patterns work so well in hammering the glutes.” So, allowing your knees to stay bent, this leaves less of a tendency for your hamstrings to activate and take over the workout. This evidently leads to your glutes firing and getting more stimulation. When placing a barbell with weight under your belly button and thrusting up in the bridge position, this leads to a great workout by overloading the glutes with weight and targeting the gluteus maximus.

Squat deep or go home! Uh Ohhh…Squat deep or go home time! If you don’t know what this means, then you probably aren’t squatting right. Research shows that adding resistance to a body weight squat only stimulates the glutes to around 30-40% MVC (maximum voluntary contraction). Okay… but exactly how much resistance, what kind of volume, reps, frequency, and squatting technique are we talking here? My point is, this research was most likely done on an average Joe or untrained subject and they probably squatted text book style, where they basically stimulate nothing but the quad muscles. But, if you squat deep, past parallel, glutes damn near the floor, you will get much more MVC stimulation in the gluteus muscles and hamstring muscles. If you aren’t buying it, just try a normal text book squat first, then a deep squat and then get back to me on which technique stimulated your glutes more.

Don’t be afraid to train those buns more than once a week. The gluteus maximus is an incredible muscle. It could and should be trained heavily on multiple days of the week. For optimal results, should be trained at least 3 days of the week. Why you ask? Research shows that glutes are not highly active during daily tasks such as walking, walking up the stairs, or getting up from a chair. It’s because your hamstrings are over stimulating your gluteus maximus. So, this leaves the door wide open for you to train your glutes frequently. Also, a lot of the frequency depends on how bad your glutes are lagging. If you have a Vida Guerra butt, then 1-2 days of glute training should maintain it. If you have a Megan Fox butt (flat), then 3 to 4 days of glute training should be sufficient. If you’re in the middle of that, then 2-3 days of glute training should do it. Adjust accordingly!

How many reps to get that booty to pop you ask? 2 studies showed that the glutes are more slower twitch, than fast twitch: (1) gluteus maximus 68% slow, 32% fast (2) gluteus maximus 52% slow, 48% fast. For this reason, lighter loads and body weight workouts may be of benefit when shaping the glutes. But, keep in mind that there are still fast twitch muscle fibers in the glutes and fast twitch muscle fibers have proven to be the most amenable to gains in size and strength. So, it’s important to overload the glutes with heavier weight and lower reps to activate all the gluteus maximus fibers. You must not leave out higher reps either because higher reps will really fire up the glutes, deplete glycogen, and give you that pump. So, it’s important to include all rep ranges when training your glutes. Anywhere from 4-6 reps, 8-12 reps, and 15-25 reps, so you can activate all your gluteus maximus fibers. See what rep range ultimately works for you. Just because a book or study says to do lower or higher reps, doesn’t mean you have to stick to that. Everyone’s body is different and reacts differently to certain rep ranges. So try all reps ranges and see what works best for you.

Now that you have these 5 tips to get your glutes to salute mastered down, keep in mind that these are tips and methods that I both practice and preach when it comes to glute training with me and clients. There are other great tips, methods, and approaches out there on training glutes and from other coaches. But, I feel that these 5 tips can really be a game changer, in this context, a real booty changer for you! Just remember that to always keep an open mind to training your glutes and to not get stagnant with one method or style of training because there could be some sort of training out there that could bring jaw dropping results to your behind! Last but not least, guys, really take these tips into consideration, women don’t want a guy with a flat butt! Peace
