If you keep everything, you get a 25% discount, which usually makes one or two items free!

Review

I received my second Fix on Friday and was so excited to try everything on! I specifically asked for longer shirts and tunics to wear with leggings, and some clothes for an interview, as well as a specific purse I've been eyeing for a few months.

Look at all the pretty colors!

The green shirt was too big, but lovely. I sold it to a girl on Facebook.

The burgundy shirt had the prettiest sleeves, but was too short for my torso. Sold this one.

The purse was not the one I asked for, and too small for my needs with lots of kids. Sold it too!

Daniel Rainn Lindero Button Down Tunic

This was kind of fun, but not quite what I was looking for and a little large.

After looking at the picture more, it actually looks pretty good on me, but the black at the bottom was sheer and I really wanted to cover the tushy. I also sold this one.

Tart Metallic French Terry Blazer

I couldn't get a good picture of this. The blazer is a true black with pretty shimmery silver threads running though it. It's SO comfortable and soft. It's a bit big in the waist area, but the shoulders fit well.

Because I sold the other 4 items at retail cost, the discount made this blazer free! I kept it but may sell it also. I'm not sure yet.

My stylist did a great job giving me what I asked for, but it seemed everything was a little big for me. I think I need to size down to an XS. For sizing reference, I'm 5'6", and 125 pounds with muscular shoulders and legs.

Can't wait to see what I get next time! Want to try it out? Click here.

What is Stitch Fix? Review #1

2015-09-16T11:26:00.001-07:00

Today I got my very first stitch fix and I'm so excited! First of all, what is it?

It's a monthly subscription clothing box. You pay $20 for a stylist to pick out some clothes for you based on height, preference, what you post on your Pinterest board, etc. They send you 5 items to try on at home with things you already own and you can pick whatever ones you want to keep. The $20 works as a credit toward anything you keep. You send back the rest and wait for your next box!

I decided to try this out because I don't really have stores for clothes shopping in my area. Plus, it's fun!

Do you want to try it out? Check it out here.

Okay, here is what I got in my first box:

They always send this cool styling card to show how to wear the clothes.

Don't mind my crazy face. These are the Mavi Freida Skinny Jeans.

Paired with the Pixley Tracy Dot Print Cross Back Knit Top

Added my jacket and the Octavia Jolene Zipper Flap Crossbody Bag.

Then I decided to pair with a skirt and wedges.

So fun, right??

Next is the 41Hawthorn Filbert Abstract Striped Henley Blouse with the Mavi Skinny jeans.

And paired with a cardigan and brown flares.

With the zipper bag.

Last item, Papermoon Chebly Split back Knit Top

Kind of blah from the front.

The back is cool, but I don't think it makes up for the boring front or the high price. ($54!)

There you go! My very first Stitch Fix delivery and I think I'm keeping 3 out of the 5. Pretty good!

Smart shopping to buy Frye boots

2015-02-12T10:37:00.004-08:00

Long time no see!

Well, I've been eyeing some boots for a year and a half. They are designer, name brand, expensive boots. It's snowy and wet and wintery where I live for at least 4 solid months (sometimes 6) out of the year. I think this deserves a quality pair of real leather boots that will last me at least 10 years. Let's not talk about the price right now.

In an effort to afford my boots, I am doing a month long "eat out of the pantry" challenge starting tomorrow, February 13th - March 13th. If I can cut my grocery budget by $75/mo, I can afford my boots if they are on sale and I can find a coupon code. :)

I will be allowed to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, and dairy products (milk, butter, etc).

Breakfasts will be oatmeal, cereal, toast, eggs, etc.
Lunches are usually sandwiches, leftovers, quesadillas, macaroni, and ramen.

Dinner ideas for the next month:

February
13 - Marinated Pork loin, mashed potatoes, peas
14 - Leftovers or Sandwiches
15 - Tacos
16 - hot dogs with fries
17 - Chicken with leeks and pasta
18 - Korean BBQ
19 - BBQ tacos with leftover meat
20 - crockpot mexican chicken
21 - leftovers
22 - Chicken cacciatore
23 - lasagna
24 - chili topped baked potatoes
25 - leftovers (husband out of town for 2 weeks)
26 - chicken nuggets, veggies, fries
27 - ramen
28 - chicken curry

March
1 - grilled cheese sandwiches, fruit
2 - hot dogs
3 - taco salad
4 - leftovers
5 - breakfast for dinner
6 - Chili
7 - Leftovers
8 - Chicken and rice soup
9 - Chicken Chickpea salad - pinterest
10 - Shepherds pie
11 - Homemade Pizza
12 - Leftovers

Shopping trip

2014-10-07T09:25:00.002-07:00

I went "grocery" shopping today for the items I need for dinners the next week.

I spent $27.

They included:

2 gallons milk
butter flavored crisco (the only way to make pie crust)
white vinegar - to disinfect my apple to make apple cider. Did I not mention I picked 2 full laundry baskets of apples yesterday? For free?
appliance lightbulb - my over the stove light has been burnt out since we moved into this house
CLR
dishwashing gloves - because heaven forbid I touch dirty dishwater.

And that's it!!!

It is really sick how much food I have in the house.
Fresh canned veggie that I did myself? check.
Fresh and canned and frozen fruit that I keep getting for free? Check.
frozen meat? Check.

Hoping to not spend any more money until next monday. Let's see if we can make it without buying milk.

Getting close

2014-10-06T10:12:00.002-07:00

I still haven't made the posole that I planned on, and here's what we've eaten for the last week.

October
1 - Dutch oven dinner at church
2 - Chicken spaghetti
3 - Steak with baked potatoes and veggies
4 - leftovers
5 - chipotle turkey burgers and tater tots.
6 - taco soup

I've made another little dent in the freezer but still feel like I have a LONG way to go.

7 - posole
8 - skillet lemon chicken with potatoes
9 - leftovers
10 - pasta jumbalaya
11 leftovers or sandwiches
12 - steak with veggies, salad, rolls

Looking forward to having an empty freezer. I think it might take another 2 weeks!

Meal Plans through September

2014-09-24T09:23:00.000-07:00

My plans for eating for the next week are below.

Breakfast
cereal
eggs and toast with fruit
oatmeal
pancakes, waffles (homemade syrup!)
baked oatmeal

Lunches
sandwiches
leftovers
kids eat hot lunch at school

Dinners
25 - pizza party for football (5 year old team)
26 - steak with assorted veggies
27 - hiking all day at Yellowstone - sandwiches and snacky things
28 - chili
29 - Posole
30 - Beef tips with pasta (I have them in the freezer already)

I've made a small dent

2014-09-24T09:07:00.001-07:00

So I am a little over a week into my pantry challenge so I thought I would share what we've eaten the last little bit. This is dinners only.

Sept 15 - Mexican Casserole
16 - Chicken wings and veggies
17 - Chicken and rice casserole, sliced cucumbers and carrots, green bean casserole
18 - leftovers
19 - shredded chicken taco salad
20 - Burritos and other leftovers
21 - BBQ chicken, veggie tien, creamed corn, rolls
22 - breakfast burritos
23 - chicken coconut curry soup (did not go over well, threw the rest away)
24 - hamburgers with fries

I went to the grocery store this morning because I was out of milk and eggs. I spent $18 on the following:

2 gallons milk
3 dozen eggs
chicken bullion
celery
onions
garlic
hamburger buns
frozen juice (.50 each for 100% juice!)

I made 4 loaves of homemade bread yesterday so we could have bread to eat.

The really cool thing about where I live now is that everyone here is an amazing gardener! In the last week alone I have been given:

yellow squash
15 ears of corn
box of tomatoes (literally at least 25 pounds)
3 ice cream buckets full of plums
3 FULL laundry baskets of apples (made 3 gallons homemade cider, eating the rest)
bag of pears
zuchinni
potatoes (my friends dad is a potato farmer)

AND we have been given permission to "glean" the potato fields after harvest the next 2 weeks AND my neighbor's grandma has 4 apple trees she isn't going to use. Guess who is making applesauce?

One month pantry challenge

2014-09-11T09:24:00.000-07:00

It's that time again. My freezer is packed. My pantry is overflowing.

One month Pantry Challenge it is!

From September 15th - October 15th, I will do my best to use mostly what I already have around. Obviously I will need to buy milk and some other fresh items, but I have GOT to clean out these freezers in prep for a deer!

Meal plan items coming up soon!

Cereal deal at Albertsons

2014-06-30T20:32:00.004-07:00

Check out what I got today!

For the Utah/Idaho Albertsons market here is the low down.

Kellogg's cereal is $1.88/box. When you buy 4 boxes you get a free gallon of milk. Using the "Free Fruit WYB 2 mini wheats - up to $2" coupons, we have a deal!

I got 8 boxes of cereal, used four coupons HERE, got 2 gallons of milk free, and got my fruit that I was planning on buying anyway. Keep each fruit around $2 and you can get all this for around $8!

I'm going back tomorrow for more!

This week at Walgreens: Cereal!

2014-04-08T16:04:00.001-07:00

I'll admit, the deals are not as good as they were when I first started couponing back in 2007. Call it inflation, the lack of doubling/tripling coupons anymore, the show Extreme Couponing, whatever.

I'm here to tell you that you still can save money! It may not be quite as awesome as free, but it will still be less than retail which = more $$ in your pocket.

Here is my deal for the day, and if you have a Walgreens around, you can do it too!

Cheerios and Fiber One cereals are $2.50 each and when you buy 2, you get 2000 points back on your card ($2).

There is no limit to how many points you can earn in 1 transaction. You can not spend points in a transaction and earn them at the same time.

I got 12 boxes of cereal. I used $1/2 coupons on cheerios from HERE, and $1/2 fiber one coupons from HERE. (2 coupons per computer) My local grocery store also had $1/2 peelies that you could grab if you find them. Anyway, here's how it went down:

12 boxes cereal @ 2.50/ea. = $30

subtract 6 $1/2 coupons = $24, which I paid.

I then earned 12,000 points on my card ($12) which I can use to buy milk, diapers, or whatever I would buy anyway.

I basically paid $1/box for name brand cereal.

Go get 'em tiger.

Nerf Rebelle Giveaway and Review

2013-08-23T10:21:00.000-07:00

We received this new toy to try out and review, so here it is! It's the Nerf Rebelle Heartbreaker bow. It retails for $19.99 and here is a description from their website:

The Heartbreaker Bow works like a real bow, but blasts darts up to 75 feet! Pull back on the string and release to fire the blaster. Your daughter can even stow up to 5 darts on the bow for easy reloading.

Hailey has been playing with this bow for the last 2 days straight and even tried to sleep with it last night! She and I both love that it's girly while encouraging more outdoor and active activities. I have nothing against dolls but with 3 boys in the mix, Hailey will be playing solo if all she had were barbies.

It's built well, doesn't feel cheap or anything and since we recently watched The Hunger Games, Hailey thinks she's Katniss Everdeen. Haha! She's jumping on tables and "training" for the arena. It's very hilarious. It comes with girly colored darts but you'll be glad to know that any standard dart will work with this, so if you lose them or get broken then get some cheap ones that stick to walls to replace them with. So far we haven't lost any or broken any - but that could change at any moment if the baby puts one in his mouth and eats it!

They also sent me a ton of coupons to give away to YOU!

Here's what you get:

One coupon for a FREE Dart Refill pack (value of $7.99) when you buy one Nerf Heartbreaker Bow (retails for $19.99) and as a bonus you also get a temporary tattoo.

This would make a great Christmas present, and if you are anything like me, you like to take care of this stuff in advance.

I have EIGHT to give away. How to enter?

Leave a comment. That's it!!! Check back on Wednesday for the winners and good luck.

Giveaway ends Wednesday, August 28, 2013.

Disclaimer: I was given the products and items for giveaway for free but the opinions are entirely my own.

Huggies for less than $5/pack @ CVS starting Sunday!

2013-08-23T07:06:00.002-07:00

I have so many good things to tell you about but I'm trying to not get too excited. Here's the deal for CVS next week, if you are anything like me you still have a 1 1/2 year old in diapers and even though you've been buying diapers for 9 years you still have another 1-2 years of it and are so sick of it but are still looking for a deal and you will like this. (What? Not like me? Diapers are still a great item to get for baby showers!)

Step 1 - have a CVS card and register your email. Why? I've been getting emails every week about Wednesday or so with a $4/$20 coupon or a 25% off coupon attached to my card. Awesome, right?

Step 2 - print the following coupons:
$2 Pull-ups coupon
$2 and $1.50 coupons (sort by baby)
$2.50 little movers coupon

Remember - 2 coupons per computer.

Step 3 - this is the deal we are doing.

And we are going with the Spend $30 one because it's better.

Game plan:

4 packs huggies @ 8.99/ea = $35.96

Use 4 $2 coupons

Pay $27.96 and get back $10 ECB = like paying $17.96 for 4 packs.

That's $4.49/pack.

In addition, I got a $3.50 home mailer from CVS for Huggies, so it'll be $3.61/pack.

Or, if you get a $4/20 email, it'll be $3.49/pack.

Have fun!! (I have 2 cards, so I'll be getting 8 packs)
