IBM Now Joins The "Mail Reinventing" Companies!

IBM recently announced Verse, which is a "social mail" kind of system, that mainly targets business groups. It basically aims to reduce crappy mail, and helps the user to organize more relevant mails faster.

From what I saw the UI looks great. Easy and comfy to work. The software will "learn" about prioritizing mail over time. It also has this feature in which you can see the people who are related to a mail in the form of a tree. Here also the software learns. If maybe a person was left out, verse will point it out and suggest people to add.

Verse's designer has told that verse is entirely different from Google's Inbox, which is too another great "mail manager". But the only problem is that, it is through invitations that we can join Google inbox.

Verse's designer also said that it will ensure privacy and safety first, but though it doth need the company's data to function properly. Honestly, i don't see how it'll "ensure" privacy and safety. If somebody hits it, it will be hit hard. With a lot of hacking into cloud based storages, i really don't enjoy the fact of storing information on the internet.

Who knows, maybe its the next best thing. IBM Verse will be rolling out its free premium package on its cloud, early next year.

Micromax to launch Cyanogenmod powered range of phones called "Yu"!

Today in India, Micromax has dispatched another cell phone range called Yu. The gadgets that will be sold under this name will be offered online just, imitating Xiaomi's plan of action.

The Yu smartphones
will run Android, however their product will originate from Cyanogen, Inc., the organization behind the preinstalled ROM for the Oneplus One (and the Oppo N1 Cyanogenmod Edition before that). This may be utilized by Micromax as an issue offering point for the new brand.

Moon? Mars? Rosetta, an European Space Agency's Mission has Reached a Comet!

The Rosetta mission received news of a grand and historic success as philae landed itself on the comet 67P/Churyumov - Gerasimenko. But here's a weird thing, the lander landed on the comet not one but two times on the comet, as data received from the lander says. Let us see some background info about this astounding mission.

The whole machine consisted of two main parts, the Rosetta probe and Philae lander. it was scheduled for launch on 12 January 2003. But it was delayed, because of some technical failures in the Ariane 5 rocket carrier, until the cause of the failure was found.

The launch was then rescheduled on 26 February 2004 with comet rendezvous in 2014. After two failed launch attempts, Rosetta was successfully launched on 2 march 2004, from the Guiana Space Centre.

Before it rendezvoused with the comet, Rosetta made three fly-bys of earth and one fly-by of Mars.
in August 2014, Rosetta reached the comet. On 10 September it entered the orbit of the comet. the comet's surface was rugged, according to data sent by Rosetta. But anyway, by 25 August 2014, five locations were marked by the spacecraft for landing.

The philae lander was released and on contact with the surface, it should have fired two harpoons to hang on to the comet, but received data say that the harpoons were not activated as the landing was soft. Well... mistakes happen, right? Philae landed on the surface of the comet and the harpoons were fired and the first data about the comet was received on 12 November 2014.

BMW Introduces " Light and Charge "!

Electric cars may help in reducing fossil use but their limited range and few service centers has been their shortcoming .Now BMW seems to have found a solution to this problem.

BMW has introduced a technology, called 'Light and Charge’ that uses street lighting to charge up cars while they are parked. This will launch in Munich next year and the best part is this technology will be using the existing street lighting system instead of installing new one. Innovative right?

BMW has already made two “light and charge” prototypes which combine light emitting diodes with the company’s ChargeNow recharging station. These charging stations can also be used by any driver and the user will pay for the electricity through an app.

BMW has made using electric cars a much easier task and as an added benefit LEDs are more energy efficient than regular street lights BMW has also claimed that LEDs reduce light pollution because they illuminate areas more precisely than traditional lights — meaning surrounding apartments should be able to get a better night's sleep.

Peter Schwarzenbauer, a member of a member of BMW's board of management said that -Seamless charging infrastructure is essential if we want to see more electric vehicles on the road in our cities in the future. Totally agree with you on that point sir!! This technology has the potential to change how we travel.

Eleanor Cunningham of Howes Cave, New York , proves to be one of the most light minded people you could have come across . Starting skiing in her 50s and golf in her 70s ,she has now bet former American President Sir George H.W. Bush's record in skydiving while entering the ripe age of 100 this year !

Resources say that this isn't her first time in doing so and has already been successful twice before at the age of 90 and 95 respectively!

Her doctor was OKAY with this decision of hers as her health was rather fine for doing what she wished for.

LG AKA Phones have Moving Eyes and 'characteristics'!

Bored with a normal 'smart'phone? I think this AKA redefines the smartness in a smartphone. While other companies in market compete in building the best specs for a phone, LG took a detour and tries to capture targeted customers.

The AKAs come with character names (Wooky, YoYo, Eggy and Soul) and each character has their own history. It has a slide cover more like the dot case the HTC M8 has but a little bit different. It comes with eyes of the character and has its own personalities. "Wherever you go I follow", the eyes are moving and it's looks depends upon the character.

LG states that this is the world's first phone with a built in character and there are totally 4 types of character:

Eggy, the yellow creature with coiffed hair, is always in love
Wooky, the white device, speaks in slang
Soul, the dark navy blue (almost black) phone, loves music.
YoYo, the pink female, who can't stop eating hamburgers and drinking Cokes

To talk about the real specs, it has a decent 5-inch LED display with 1.27 GHz quad core processor and has a pretty good 8 megapixel rear camera. Also, the AKAs run on Android KitKat.

For now, the AKAs are only available in Korea. Soon it'll cost $455.56 in the U.S. and later it'll be released to more countries. But 455$ for a low spec phone, not a phone buff like me?! Nah, I expect better.

Francois Gissy a French guy designed a cycle that could travel at a speed of 333 Km/H.

His cycle was propelled by a Hydrogen Peroxide-powered rocket with 3 thrusters. It attained its top speed of 333 km/h in 4.8 secs. This was only designed to create a new record. Or else if we use this in our roads , just think of what will happen to us . We can't even see the road and we will bash the other vehicles. I so want this one! I will get to my school in seconds.

In this game, you need to use your grey matter to build a space station. Use must build them using "space pieces". Also you need to defend your station with minions from attack from.. uhm... "bad minions".

Basically this game is about alien invasion. Alien spaceship crashes. You gotta investigate it and "neutralize" any threats. This is kinda like "tower offence". You gotta hit enemy towers and use your resources to do them "strategically".

*Clash Of Clans
This game was one of my personal favorites. You need to build your village, you need to make it strong. You can also join clans which you can connect with other people of the internet and ask for donations. You can "raid" other player's villages for resources and win trophies.

There’s no feeling quite like waiting for a stranger to open his or her door so you can scream the words “Trick or treat!” But why do we say it? What does it actually mean? The practice of donning a costume and asking for treats from your neighbors dates back to the Middle Ages, but back then it wasn’t a game.

During the medieval practice of souling, poor people would make the rounds begging for food. In return, they offered prayers for the dead on All Souls Day. (What does the “een” in "halloween” mean exactly? The answer lies here.)

Modern trick or treating is a custom borrowed from guising, which children still do in some parts of Scotland. Guising involves dressing in costume and singing a rhyme, doing a card trick, or telling a story in exchange for a sweet. The Scottish and Irish brought the custom to America in the 19th century.

Some have traced the earliest reference of the term treat or treat in print was in 1927, in Alberta, Canada. The last few weeks had been a lot interesting with a lot if releases and events. To contribute more to this Microsoft decided to stop the production and distribution of the windows 7.

Microsoft released the windows 8 which proved to be a "not so good" OS. The removal of the start menu upset a lot of users. The windows 8.1 too did not prove to be any better.

Recently it revealed it's plans for the windows 10 in which Microsoft decided to bring the start menu back.

But still Windows 7 was one hell of an OS. I'm sure we'll miss Windows 7. Man, Aero Flip 3D was plain awesomeness.

If you want a laptop or computer with Windows 7, better order fast for it is not going to be here for long.

Hendo Hoverboard: The World's First Hoverboard!

Finally, fakes apart, the hoverboard is real. They released a youtube video which went viral last week and it was legit and real.

Now let me break down the theories on how it actually levitates or floats. There are two possible theories which are popping up in my mind right now, electromagnetic levitation like that MAGLEV train we saw before and magnetic repulsion
with a material.

The board definitely seems to use some kind of battery and if you notice the video, the board always hovers over a specific material. If they use a battery some around 200 - 300 watts it would be enough to cause electromagnetic fluctuation. But, by doing it, it will leave the board completely frictionless and without any control. They must have some additional coil to control the flow of electricity.

Hendo Hoverboard

If it is some magnetic repulsion or fluctuation with the material it should throw the board up or flip it. but surprisingly it doesn't. I have no idea what the material it's hovering above maybe. Maybe the material makes all the magic. Seeing the composure of the hoverboard, it looks complex.

But on the other hand, they make a product called White Box which is a box which is white, hovers over that particular material, seeing that i think the material only matters and not complex theories. The White box is not out yet and once i have an hands on with it, we'll be able to explain better.

A Google Executive Skydived 136K Feet, Thrashing the World Record!

Alan Eustace, the Vice-President of Google Search just thrashed the record for the longest skydive in the world. The previous record which was held by Felix Baumgartner who dived 128,100 feet to make a record this same month 2 years ago.

Alan Eustace skydived 135,890 feets setting the new world record beating Flix by more than 7000 ft., Alan was carried by a white balloon filled with helium till the desired height, into the stratosphere. He also carried a small explosive with him to detach himself. The team which witnessed says he broke the sound barrier too.

Our new hero, Alan Eustace, unlike Felix was not funded or supported by a big team like redbull. The jump made by Felix Baumgartner was a big marketing stunt for Red Bull which was advertised in a huge manner before he made the jump.

Paragon Space Development Corporation a team of around 20 members helped Alan achieve this goal. Their team called the project "Strat-Ex"(Acronym for Stratosphere Explorer), they provided all technical support as well as all safety equipments to Alan.

As Alan drops from the stratosphere to achieve this new record, The Paragon team also made their first success with such a small group of people. He made the dive safely with all the assistance from the ground. Below is simple video provided by Paragon team, congrats Alan!

Score!!!. The month-old rumors come true as Microsoft makes a move on Nokia. The software giant takes up the Nokia Lumia business under it's wings to make it 'Microsoft Lumia'. As per Microsoft's EUR 5.4Bn buyout of Nokia devices and services business, the software giant will acquire Nokia's mobile phone manufacturing business, and license Nokia for 10 years to sell feature phones based on Nokia series 30 and 40 OS's.

But, why the huge leap Microsoft? Thing is, it didn't have a choice. The Microsoft-Nokia's Lumia business was going so well. But there was a problem. Well, not exactly a problem. Nokia considered it as a high-end mobile business. Microsoft had two choices: 1.To take the business as a low-end one and get some share. Else, it can just end the business. They took the first choice, obviously.

So, that's cleared. Now what does Nokia do? Now, according to the deal, Nokia has to wait for 10 years until it can license the name to someone else. But, unlike Microsoft, Nokia has it's choices. according to the terms of the deal, Nokia cannot license it's brand to anyone for a period of 30 months. It has to wait for 2 years to enter the device market.

And theoretically, in 2 years, Nokia can launch its own line of mobile devices. But until then people, not to worry, Nokia will exist as a separate company without its mobile business.

Warning: Xiaomi, the Chinese Mobile Giant is Leaking Information to its Government!

Xiaomi, the Chinese mobile giant that is offering phones at a low price has now been credited with leaking information to the Chinese government.

Well……….WHAT??? Privacy?? Nope.

The device in question here is the Redmi Note which streams data to the company's Mi Cloud servers while on Wifi but has also been found to remain in touch with the Chinese servers during cellular connectivity.

According to a report the Indian air force has given a medium threat warning to its squadrons. The Indian air force’s intelligence unit has also prepared a note based on the investigations and information by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team. The Indian air force is not the the first one to ponder over this abnormal information leak.

The Taiwan government and the f-secure security agency have also researched on this matter.A user from Hong Kong has also reported that Xiaomi RedMi Note sends data to a server based in China. Here is a screenshot from that user which proves that the phone is leaking information:-

The interesting fact is that while the initial testing done by F-Secure on a Redmi 1S on August 4 2014 showed the issue of data automatically being transmitted, the testing of the phone on August 14 2014 after an OS update confirmed that the issue is no longer present !

Though the fact does remain that Xiaomi cannot take user information without permission, it is a very much possible threat. So the next time you are going to buy a phone think well and be aware people!

Google to Conquer Mailing system by replacing Gmail with "Inbox"!

Google has finally turned out to provide a solution to all the Gmail junk. Google previously had an update about an year ago, which separates the emails under certain default categories. Now it has taken it to the next level.

Inbox, a new app which can be downloaded only on invites replaces Gmail. This is new app is loaded with lots of feature which seem promising to enhance the usage of the emails. Tt has further enhanced the method of segregation and grouping related emails.

Bundles, a new feature in the app is smarter than we think. It automatically groups frequently received mails and important ones. Also, it separates the bills that you receive which helps us to easily swipe or save for later. Unlike gmail, you can even create your own bundles and set it to group certain mails. Attachment contained messages also get grouped. This feature is really enlightening in the app.

Another super feature called Assists, which updates you flight details in real-time from the internet. It will recognize and track your flight from the ticket that you have received in the mail. It gives instant and fast updates on the respective flight.

It also displays the notification or reminders which it inherits automatically from Google Now. It also has an add-on feature called "Boomerang" where you can schedule your emails. When to send and who to send.

Overall, this Inbox app is a fun-packed emailing system. Google might even have more add-on updates which will make it more interesting.

Which is longer in Venus: Day or Year?

We all know that a year is very much longer than a day. A day is completed by one rotation of the planet and a year is completed by one revolution of the planet. But, here's a question for you. Can you imagine a day being longer than a year. In the case of our sister planet, the answer must be a yes.

Earth(after a day): completed a day?

Venus: No

Earth(after a month): Sis, you completed?

Venus: No!

Earth(after a year) : completed yet?

Venus: Yes!

First, let's update ourselves on Venus. Venus is the second planet from the sun, with surface temperatures hitting 462 degrees Celsius(Now that's hot). This is because of the greenhouse effect created on it's surface which is the strongest in our solar system.

Ebola: The "Zombie" Virus which is Shaking the World!

Ebola, a name which sends a chill down our spine, reminds us of the outbreak in Sudan, Zaire, Congo and the most recent one, in West Africa. But is this name unique to us? Doesn't it click something else in our minds?. But first, let's know something about this virus.

The specialty about this virus is that it is not contagious until the victim begins to develop symptoms:

fatigue, high fever, muscle and joint pain, headache and sore throat are some of the starting symptoms. this is often followed by: breathlessness, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and in some cases, rash and bleeding. But by the time these symptoms start showing up, the infection is termed 'fatal'. Typical, isn't it?

By the time the virus starts spreading, it goes at it's own pace. It affected about 254 people in it's first outbreak and 425 people in Congo. In the case of Africa, it a whopping 9216. The diagnosis and cure is also complex.

So, after all this info got into your mind, you must have realized the vastness and the damage caused by this virus. Now let's turn to the the other side of the coin, how did this name 'Ebola' come up? Weird name for a virus this huge, isn't it?

Strangely weird though, the name came from a river located near Congo. Now let's get our priorities straight. Naming a virus after this 'random' river, just because a victim got infected after he visited it?
But, on the other hand, it may also describe the uniqueness of this virus. And that is why, every hospital and clinic has a signboard saying 'Prevention is Better than Cure'. That may apply to our 'friendly' virus, Ebola.

Can Electricity Flow through Flash?

Would you believe that electricity can enter through flash ? We cannot say it will but it may.
An incident proves the above statement.

A teenager went for a study tour with his college friends and for their journey back to college ,they were waiting for a train . The boy wanted to take a group photo. As he could not capture all his friends , he moved back and clicked.

He failed to notice a 4000 volts electric line which was passing above his head. Guess what happened? His fingers and his body were almost completely burnt. He was taken to a nearby hospital but could not make it more than one and a half days.

Actually camera flash is not a conductor of electricity. But Faraday's law may be roughly stated as "A changing magnetic field creates an electric field".Ampere's law roughly states that "A changing electric field creates a magnetic field".

So , according to Ampere's law the electric lines produced a high electromagnetic field of 40000 volts and the boy was shocked heavily when he clicked the camera flash.So please be aware of your surroundings when you take a snap.

In beginning of this year, Dave Hakkens, an entrepreneur came out with the concept of Phonebloks. That concept has went viral and for those who don't know. It's a phone which is fully customizable. Each part can be removed and changed. You can customize it to the core, literally. This concept was later adopted by Motorola Mobility as Project Ara.

Now they are back with the wearables. This concept is called "Blocks" which lets you customize your wearable pretty much like that of that phone. This concept for wearables was announced earlier through their blog but now it's official and soon gonna be out.

The most awaited thing that a person who lives a life his way would prefer. They are funded by Intel to manufacture this thing. After the release of a wide variety of wearable including the Apple iWatch, this one is going to be a killer.

The wearable part is broken down into multiple individual pieces which contain different parts of it. We still can't rely on the durability of this Blocks concept. The thing is the Project Ara is also still not out and only a limited people had access to it. Wonder how this is gonna work out. We still don't have a detailed matter on this "Blocks" concept.
