The Beauty of Cosmetic Dentistry

Smile enhancement can improve any person’s overall appearance. Even a minimal procedure by a dentist in Carrollton TX can boost self-esteem, self-confidence, and increase the desire to smile. Because of the latest advancements in cosmetic dentistry technology, dentists can correct a variety of dental problems including the replacement of missing teeth or straightening existing ones.
Certainly one of the most affordable ways to enhance a smile is to whiten (bleach) the surface of the teeth. Whitening the external surface of the tooth requires a whitening agent that is applied at home or in the dental office.
The dentist can apply wafer thin dental veneers. These custom-made resin or porcelain shells are permanently cemented (bonded) to the front of the tooth once approximately a half millimeter has been removed from the tooth surface enamel. There are made in a variety of lengths, sizes, shapes and colors to enhance the beauty of the patient’s smile.
A putty-like tooth colored resin is bonded to the tooth that becomes hardened using a laser or ultraviolet light. This permanent bonding plastic material is highly durable and an ideal way to repair a cracked, chipped, decayed or misshapen tooth.
Onlays and Inlays
An “indirect filling,” or onlay/inlay, is typically made in a dental laboratory from porcelain, gold or composite materials. It is then bonded to the tooth to fill damaged or decayed areas. The onlay is bonded to the biting surface of the exterior of the tooth at one or more points. In inlay is applied in the center of the tooth. Both types of indirect fillings serve as a viable alternative to a crown. In fact, it is often used to preserve healthy teeth as much as possible.
In recent years, advancing technology has made dental implants an ideal solution for missing teeth. A replacement tooth root fabricated out of titanium is first inserted on the jawbone socket where the tooth is missing. During the healing process of the jawbone, new tissue forms around the newly implanted titanium metal post, which anchors it securely to the bone. This is used as a permanent foundation that will hold the replacement tooth.
Cosmetic dentistry offers a viable solution for discolored, stained, chipped, worn, misaligned, broken, or misshapen teeth. A beautiful “smile makeover” can quickly enhance a person’s appearance. Many times the dentist will perform a variety of cosmetic dentistry procedures to achieve the most successful results.

Leverage Dentist SEO
September 12, 2013
Can people locate your practice when they search online? If you aren’t displaying well in Google search results, you might want to make use of a dentist SEO consultant.
Dental practice marketing has transformed over the years. No longer can a dentist muddle through with a yellow pages listing and the occasional direct mail flyer. Using the phone book and newspaper to find goods and services has been superceded by the Internet search. Just making a website won’t get you new clients – it has to rank well in the search engines. Posting a website but not getting it ranked is equal to building a huge sign in the middle of the forest. If no one sees your site you are wasting your time, no matter how great the site is.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the technique of doing work on your website and also building links to your website to help enhance your position on search engine results pages. Convincing Google and the other search engines that your site is relevant to searchers is excellent dentist SEO strategy. It won’t happen instantly – in fact, it will probably take a few months or more – but your practice can go to prominence from obscurity with a well designed and executed SEO strategy.

Nashville Tennessee is well known for its country music. Anyone who is anyone in the industry knows that Nashville is the place to be if you want to be a country star. But there is another industry on the rise in Tennessee, and another star is gaining prominence. It is the Nashville dentist.
It is no surprise that dentists would do well in the home of country music. It is tough to make it as the next country heart throb if your teeth are all jacked up. Which is why the field of cosmetic dentistry is doing exceptionally well in the Nashville area. You can’t pick and grin unless your teeth are white and straight.
It isn’t just cosmetic dentists that are seeing a rise in business, though. All aspects of dentistry are on the increase. That is most likely due to modest growth in the region’s economy. A big boost to the area just came at the hands of banking giant UBS. They recently announced that they will be expanding in the Nashville region, and would be adding one thousand new jobs. That’s good news to the people of Nashville, because the people filling those jobs will have money for other goods and services, including quality dental work. Business Is Booming In Tulsa
August 24, 2013
A nation-wide rise in the demand for cosmetic dentistry is one of the factors driving the boom. As we noted in a previous article, America’s obsession with celebrities is causing many people to request cosmetic procedures to mimic the stars they see on TV. Tusla is by no means Hollywood, but that trend is happening in the Oklahoma city, too.
Standard dental procedures are also experiencing increased demand. Checkups, cleanings, and fillings are up, with more folks taking advantage of routine dental care. As Tulsa’s economy rises more folks have jobs, and therefore the income necessary to afford good dental care.
All of this adds up to a favorable outlook if you are a Tulsa dentist. And if you are just starting out in the industry, or are thinking of moving your practice to a new area, Tulsa might be a good place to consider.

The Rise Of Cosmetic Dentistry
August 17, 2013
America’s fascination with celebrity is doing more than shaping journalism and television these days. It is also having a profound effect on the dental profession. More and more patients are requesting cosmetic dentistry procedures to help themselves look like the stars they see on television and in the movies.
And this trend isn’t just happening in California or in big cities. The whole nation watches the same TV and movies, and they all want the same look. Listen to this dentist, from a smaller city. “For a dentist Portland Maine is a great place to practice because the pace of life is slower. But that doesn’t mean we don’t need to be up on the latest dental procedures. My cosmetic dental requests have been through the roof lately.”
Teeth whitening is probably the most requested procedure right now. Many patients try the home whitening kits they find in the drug store, and then get discouraged with the results. When performed by a professional with the best materials, bleaching can whiten the teeth by up to five times their original shade. For many patients with discolored teeth from smoking or drinking coffee, teeth whitening can be a great procedure.
Bonding is another commonly requested treatment. Many people with overly large spaces between their teeth, or cracking or chipping, are asking for bonding to give them a better smile. The process is relatively quick and inexpensive, and can really make a dramatic improvement for a very reasonable price. Unlike porcelain veneers, which are more durable and offer a much longer life before needing to be replaced, bonding is a cosmetic procedure that most can afford.
As new techniques and procedures are introduced to the dental community, the demand for cosmetic dentistry will only increase. And whether you are practicing in Beverly Hills or the back hills of Virginia, it seems plain that dentists will have more and more patients requesting cosmetic procedures.

The Importance Of Dental Health
August 4, 2013
Those of us in the dental profession know that good oral health is one of the key factors to a healthy life. Unfortunately, too many people treat oral hygiene as an afterthought, and only visit the dentist when they have a problem. The old saying “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” is never truer than when it is spoken about dental care.
Part of our mission as dentists is to educate our patients about the necessity of taking care of their mouths and teeth. Certainly we need to demonstrate brushing and flossing. But more importantly, we should have a program in place to educate our clients about the importance of being seen regularly by a dental professional.
This strategy should be clearly communicated to the dental assistants, hygienists, and other support staff at our clinics. We also need to provide them the materials necessary to educate patients. Brochures, handouts, and posts on our practice websites can all support the message that everyone needs to practice preventative maintenance on their mouth.
An educated patient is most likely also a retained patient, so from a business standpoint it makes sense for us to become crusaders for dental health. There are a number of good resources available to bring our staff up to speed, and to equip them to spread the word. Let’s make sure we are continually training them in the art of promoting preventative dentistry.
