2020... You are making me question everything that I took for granted. It was usual for me to question my existence and purpose but it is the first time that I am questioning everybody's existence in this world that I live in. I read somewhere that this virus is not breaking the system, it is exposing the system. There are protests, pay disparities, environmental issues, mental issues, economy issues that have emerged during this pandemic. The world that I knew once is now crumbling down in front of me like a stack of cards. The social media is also not helping much.

So, if I could have the power, I would call out to all the healers of the world. Healers who have the power of fixing. They know who they are. They are the ones who have a soothing aura around them. They are the ones who could calm a mind without saying a word. Healers have the magic of lighting souls as they meet those on their paths of life. Those souls just need to be ignited. They have lost the spark only for a while. For the healers know that the light is there in every human being but it sometimes get tarnished. With healed souls comes love and this day needs love and empathy.

A healthy society is built with people conscious towards their actions. Conscious towards - how their actions would affect the planet and the people living around them? Will their actions hurt someone or uplift someone? Will their actions help to save the planet? Love will bring the intention of correcting their actions, caring for someone and forgiving others inaction. The healers are aware but they alone could not build a healthy society. They need us to build it for the future generations to come. Our actions today will define tomorrow.

So, if you are the one who could light the souls around you and make them believe in the good once again, then this is for you. Healer - we need you more than ever! Come to our rescue to light up this world with love and joy. For it is you who could save us from our past mistakes and make us believe in love once again! Are you the healer?

The Voice

There is this voice that keeps trying to talk to me

Even when I am talking to others, it constantly nudges me
even when I am silent, it keeps mumbling to me

The voice doesn't stop
No matter where I go, what I do, it just wouldn't shut

Sometimes it nags me to the point that it scares me

Creating the urgency and shouting “Listen to me!”

When I actually give my ear to it
I find no words coming from it

Just a kind of nag that it has attained its mastery in
Just pulling me away from here and bringing me towards it

Just giving me the urge,

To shut myself from this world

Constantly trying to wake me up even when I am wide awake
constantly trying to show me something that I am not able to figure

Makes me feel like am missing on something
I don't know what it is but it keeps pointing towards a direction which is unknown to me

The voice has convinced me that there's nothing here
this is just a phase... Phase where I am unconscious

Unconscious to the extent that I couldn't wake up even if I want to
the voice is directing me to somewhere and I don't know where to

The only conscious thing in my world, rest all just keeps fading away

Makes me feel like hopping from one dream to another with no getaway

The dream seems to be never ending which scares me all the more

I want the voice to take me to the place that it vouches for

How much could you talk about a place?

How much worth would it be to keep seeking for that place?

Getting to the frequency that I understand its message
it promises me for peace and happiness

The voices assures me of boundless world
World where you are convinced there is no beginning and end swirl

I want my voice reach to that end,

I want the voice to lead me away

Lead me to the place that it is so fond of

The voice in my head that doesn’t seem to die of

The Theory of Nothing

“Creatio Ex nihilo” (Creation out of nothing)

“I made all of this out of nothing…”

I always knew this but it is only now that I realize. It made me ponder on the question that if I am created out of nothing, then is it true that I will be going back into being nothing? Is that a reminder for me to rise above daily glitches and realize that life in the end is just to experience to its fullest? It also breaks my heart to accept the fact that there would never be “Always”. Why is it important for me to believe in always? What if everything doesn’t matter? What if the whole purpose of the life is just to traverse from one form to another? Is searching meaning the sole purpose of life or just a need for us to live a fulfilled life? What if there is no purpose? What if the life you are living is already serving the purpose that you are not even aware of? What if you are contributing to the universe by just being part of it and witnessing it? Is this universe really incomplete without me?

If I choose to believe that is true, then it surely makes me feel my life has significance which I am not aware of. I might be contributing in a small way to this world but it is such small acts/colours that make the picture complete. When I look at the world from this perspective, it makes me reflect on my priorities. At the end of the life, I guess everyone would want a satisfied heart. How do you ensure that you live a fulfilled life? What would matter once you turn into nothing? Would it really be important how much powerful you were or how much riches you had gathered?

What if the sole purpose of the life is to just live and experience? Observe the way you live your life, right from wondering the way you keep breathing involuntarily in a rhythmic way to wondering how things/people keep evolving around us. Experiencing Now. Just realize for a moment that this life has been given to me only for a while which I need to experience and explore the beauty of this life.

Being aware of this very moment. It may not last forever but it does exist now. And now in the infinite timeline of the universe is the only thing what you have in your hand. Once you have this awareness, living your life is something else. I am not sure if I would be able to pull off this awareness for the rest of my life. But for now it feels amazing. I love being in this mode. The mode where I am just an observer. Things don’t affect you since you are just a third person witnessing your life as you live.

The theory of nothing is living your life as a traveller – you know this is just a phase, you know this would be either a lifelong memory or a random moment that you will easily forget, you are here for a while and then you shall move on.

People would cross your path and some of them will etch their name in your heart for the rest of your life. It’s best to live in the moment. Witness the life and experience it for that’s the reason why we are here. In the end, what it would matter is how satisfied you were with your life and how much happiness did you contributed just by being in the moment. How many moments did you listen to the silence and got away from the chaos to find the peace inside. Sun kissed beaches, green mountains, blue sky, cool air and water flowing in a rhythm. They all have rhythm like your breath. Not all the voices you could hear but you can feel if you observe closely. Our life is a rhythm with vibrations resonating the energy. How much you want to be in this state is your choice … Nothing is perfect. Nothing is peace in itself. Find nothing state and you would see you were always part of Nothing.

Social Media Diaries

Being alone is not the luxury people can afford in today’s fast-paced world. How much ever you try to avoid, the noise from outside or the havoc in your mobile makes sure you do not miss anything… Blame it on social media or your own curiosity but the voices of the world will echo in your head if not in your ears.

Social media is a great tool with the potential of becoming most lethal weapon. The reason that social media appears to be less of convenience and more of havoc, is because of incorrect/malicious usage of the media. Ridiculous rumors spread like wildfire; Half-cooked facts are broadcasted without knowing the consequences; people voice their anger and opinions aggressively without knowing the full story which again ignites debates and wrong perceptions. This is another golden example of how hatred spreads faster than love. How else would you define news created out of nothing? Anger over something which is not even true? Social media is no longer a virtual world. It has become part of our reality which is all the more dangerous. It has the ability to turn bad things into worst and destructing peace by mere exchange of harsh words.

The idea is satiating of having the ability to broadcast your ideas to an ocean of people who are probably waiting to react on your views. However, the truth is more the channels, more voices, more opinions and more debates. I am not against social media. It is a great tool to build your network and share your ideas. However, what idea you choose to broadcast is important. In the attempt to make our voice heard, we often voice our opinions for things that won’t do any good. Rather than stating what we hate, why don’t we state what we love? Believe me; our world needs it the most at this moment. Media likes to binge on bad news because they know they would get the most TRPs and reactions for that news. The reason there are so many news channel today is because they know that they have the ability to create news out of nowhere.

I know changing behavior of billions of people is not easy. I am surprised when people say they love watching fights and debates. What kind of world are we planning to leave for our next generation? - A world which is driven by opinions OR a world which is driven by solutions. Binging on fights and hatred will only trigger more of it. To ensure peaceful and positive future, we need to be cautious of our words. As they say, “Words and hearts should be handled with care, for words when spoken and hearts when broken are the hardest things to repair”. Words/Posts written on social media are there forever, the ripples of their emotions are felt beyond your capacity to control the same. Once you write those words, they have their own life and you can’t control the consequences even if you want to.

People feel left-out and want to be updated with what all is going on... They don’t want to miss on anything. The truth is there is nothing much outside for you to be missing on to. Think about this, what you need for your survival and staying positive and hopeful - A supportive family and few good friends who you can actually talk to. Other than that rest all is extra baggage that you are carrying with yourself.

So, the next time you are on social media, just blink and think before posting.

Will this spread happiness, help someone and bring hope? OR Will this drive more debates and negative reactions?

9 Corporate Lessons from a 9 years Experienced Professional

Before we plunge into the lessons, I would like to mention that these lessons are from my experience. This may vary person-to-person but from what I have observed I could sum it up in the below 9 pointers. Hope you find this helpful.

1. WHAT MATTERS TO YOU, SHALL DEFINE YOUR CORPORATE JOURNEY

During our college days, we had a Personality Development trainer who helped us sharpen our soft-skills. Once she distributed a sheet which had a list of things that matters to you when looking out for a job. I found that exercise too silly! Obviously, Money will be the priority. What else do you need to take up a job? Well, it turned out, I was wrong. As I progressed in my corporate journey, I realized it was people that mattered most to me. It mattered to me that the people I work with and work for share common goals and welcome new ideas. So, you choose what matters to you most: money, people, post, environment, onsite opportunity and that would help you get your corporate life in perspective.

2. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

Your designation/post won’t help you earn the respect in a long run, your knowledge will. You will be viewed as an asset to the organization, when you would have something to give. The key point is the readiness to learn new things. Your academic/theoretical knowledge won’t be enough to bring you success in the corporate unless you are ready to adapt and learn/unlearn things. Every organization expects you to play multiple roles. The organization finds you as an asset, when you have knowledge and are willing to upgrade it as well. Remember, Learning is a life-long process; it is not something that starts with school and ends with college.

3. THERE IS NOTHING LIKE CORPORATE BATTLEFIELD

Most of the people see corporate world full of politics and game of power. However, my perspective is to look at the corporate world as a land of opportunity to help people and earn your living for helping people. It is again what matters to you the most that will help you choose the right prism through which you will look at the corporate world. Just remember, everyone working with you are there for the same reason that you are there for. They are also getting paid for helping the organization to grow. We might as well help each other to attain the common goal rather than competing with each other.

4. GOOD VIRTUES ARE FOR YOUR INNER PEACE

You will witness several phases in your corporate journey ranging from “I am done with this! I want to quit and go to Himalayas!” to “I feel like I am on top of the world!”. It is important not to get carried away throughout such phases in your life. The most successful and knowledgeable people I met in my life were down-to-earth and were unfazed by their success. They didn’t let their success reach their head which made them capable of sustaining their success. Your ego could get in between of reaching new heights in your life. It is thus important to maintain your sanity through the ups and downs of your life. Good virtues could be a great way to lead a content corporate journey. People going by the motto, “everything is fair in love and war” might be killing their inner voice. The idea is to make yourself feel proud of what you are. Corporate life is just a part of your life. Good virtues are more for your inner peace and less for showcasing to the world.

5. GOODWILL WORKS

Your corporate world is filled with nothing but people and guess-what, people have emotions. Empathizing with people, going that extra mile to help people without expecting any personal benefit helps to earn respect and goodwill. Everything should not be done with the goal of getting your name on the notice board. Try doing some kind work in corporate world too and see the benefits for yourself.

6. SINCERITY – YOUR BRAND AMBASSADOR

There is no shortcut to success. You would have heard this and this is the biggest truth in corporate world. Your sincerity towards your work will always show. It is like your silent brand ambassador. You don’t have to endorse yourself; the sincerity trait will do it for you in the ways you wouldn’t have imagined. Moreover, this trait is again part of your virtue which brings inner peace and work satisfaction.

7. COMMUNICATION MAKES YOU GO PLACES

You might be knowledgeable, sincere in work but unless you communicate with people, your chances of getting good opportunities are quite slim. Whether you are a technical resource or a back-end administrator, you need to communicate well. The organizations always look for people who can represent their brand to the outside world very confidently. Moreover, if you don’t want to miss out on opportunities, it is important to have networking in your organization.

8. TAKE A BREAK

I learnt this lesson quite late but when I did, I was thankful. There is no point in working continuously when you have no enthusiasm or motivation left. A good break gives you a chance to relook on your working style and helps you to get in touch with your creativity and rekindle the spark that you lose working continuously. Also, when your work is monotonous, you tend to ignore the obvious aspects that are missing or needs to be reworked. It is advisable to put down your work for some time and then relook the same with fresh eyes.

9. FIND THE SPARK

People always dream of having an exciting life with nothing to worry about. However, the reality is that your job tends to bring you in a monotonous schedule that might make you feel demotivated. That’s why, it is important to look at the bigger picture. Find a good reason for yourself that will drive your enthusiasm in your work.

A Short Story

I had participated in a short story competition organized by Times of India. I did not bag any awards but still wanted to share the story with you. Here it is....

I hadn’t seen him for seven years. I was not sure what was more exciting: the fact that he was coming back from Sweden or I was the first one he called in India to give this news. We had been close friends since our college days. Driving was our passion. We used to flee in my SUV on weekends. Driving through the valleys and woods would give us a crazy level of high that we both craved for. We were kind of getting addicted to it. We were enough for each other until life happened. Once we were out of college, his work took him to different corners of India while I stayed in the same city looking after my dad’s business. It was becoming difficult to see each other, in fact, even talk to each other. We had moved on. Daily talks on the phone eventually reduced to pinging on WhatsApp. I didn’t regret it as we both had chosen that life for us. Yes, I did miss him. The kind of insanity we indulged in, I don’t think anybody could match it.

That day he mailed his itinerary. He even called me. It took me a couple of seconds to find my voice.

“Hello”, I said not quite sounding like myself.

“Ria, what happened?” he asked with a tinge of concern in his voice.

“Nothing”, I replied in a better tone.

“What happened to your voice?”

I tried to chuckle. “Nothing Rohan.”

“Ok. Anyway, I have mailed my itinerary to you. I will be landing at 11 pm tomorrow. See you at the airport!”

“Wait a minute,” I paused and then continued, “Are you expecting me to receive you at the airport?”

“Obviously! Why would I send you my flight details, you fool?”

“You remember how far the airport is from my place Rohan?” I complained in a tired tone.

“So what! You have to drive. You should be jumping with excitement!” He makes me feel like nothing has changed in these years.

“Rohan, driving used to be fun before. Now it is sheer pain. You have no idea how much the city has changed! So much traffic…”

“Stop cribbing! You are coming and we are not going home after that. I want to drive around aimlessly like we used to in the good old days.”

I chuckled, “What has got into you?”

“I miss you Ria. I miss those days”, his tone changed as he uttered those words.

“Me too Rohan,” I said softly

“Then, let us relive those days now. What say?”

I smiled and replied “Yes, but how did…”

“No more questions, Ria. I am done with my life over here. I want my life back with you.”

“And you realize this after 7 years?”

“Ria, we both would be turning 30 this month. You haven’t forgotten our pact, have you?”

It struck me then and I was completely dumbstruck. I stood still gripping my phone tightly fearful that it might slip from my hand, the way the years had. Silently.

“Ria? Are you there?”

“Uh…” I couldn’t find any words. Words don’t always stand by me.

“Ten, nine, eight…” he started counting in reverse. It was one of his old tricks. He always used to do that when I couldn’t find words or when I would be too angry or anxious to say anything. His trick would always make me relax or at least made me chuckle. It worked this time as well.

“Shut up Rohan! You idiot! You couldn’t tell me before?” Suddenly, I felt a strong current flowing through my body.

“I thought you remember our pact.”

“I thought you were just kidding then,” I said trying hard to sound normal.

“I wasn’t,” he paused and continued, “I waited for you.”

“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”

“Well, because even you didn’t tell me earlier.”

I chuckled and shook my head. Were we back in time or some things never change?

“I thought…”

“Since when did you start thinking?” he teased.

“Shut up Rohan! You are making this sound so simple.”

“Isn’t it supposed to be simple?”

“No… You were away for 7 years! I thought you have moved on and you even made me feel that I should move on.”

“Have you moved on?”

I thought for a while and replied.

“No.”

“Good. So, I am doing my web check-in. See you tomorrow.” He clicked off the call after saying that while I stayed in my place in disbelief.

He had loved me all these years but he didn’t say anything. The pact that we had made when he was leaving for Sweden was something I didn’t take seriously.

“If we both are single till 30^th July 2015, we will get married,” he had said at the airport when I was sobbing. I had hit him when he had said that and at the same time laughed.

“I promise. I am serious. Let’s make a pact,” he said in a way that I thought he was trying to pacify me so that I stop crying. He held out his hand for the pact while I stood there still not sure why is he doing it.

“Ten, nine, eight, seven… “, he started with his stupid countdown.

“Stop it!” I cried and hugged him tightly.

All these years, he said nothing. We chatted for all these years, but never in my life had I thought that he was waiting for me. I think he was still enough for me. I never had the urge to have a relationship because he was there even when he was not there. Although the world thinks I am a successful and strong entrepreneur, I had my insecurities and fears which I always shared with him. Cribbing about everything in front of him without the thought that he would get bugged, somehow used to make me feel good. I never thought he would come back. I had assumed we will end up chatting all through our life. He had become my personal journal where I would put in all my honest thoughts without fearing about being judged. He had become a part of my subconscious. Whenever something would happen or I would get the urge of sharing it with someone, I would look for my mobile. It had become my instinct to share it with him.

How could I have thought he has moved on when he was just a click away from me? How could I have thought distances would have made this relationship end when the distances were just an illusion? He always loved me and I like an idiot never saw it!

I cried for being so stupid. He was always there and so much close to me that I was actually blinded by it. I had always loved him, but never thought we would be together ever. He is coming back for me. Tomorrow is 29^th July. It’s his birthday. 30^th July is my birthday. That’s why, he had mentioned 30^th July.

Oh my God! What am I doing here? I need to go out for shopping. I need to look my best! He is coming for me! Yayy! At once I left my work and went for shopping!

It was 9pm when I left for the airport in our favorite SUV. It would take me another one and a half hour approximately to reach the airport. I adjusted the rear view mirror and smiled before starting to drive. I couldn’t stop smiling after that call. I would get so anxious that I had to count reverse in order to relax myself. His stupid trick has become my habit too! I couldn’t remember the last time I was this happy. I was enjoying the traffic too! What’s happening to me? Suddenly life is perfect for me! Everything is awesome! I will meet the love of my life today. He was there all along but today I would see him in person. I would hug him tightly. I would first hit him. I am angry with him. Yes, I am angry. Why didn’t he say anything before? Why did he make me believe that he is just my friend? It’s his fault. I know, even I was stupid to not understand the signs. Those signs were there all this time. But still I want to fight with him. He is stupid. Such a gone case! I sat in my car suddenly realizing to look at my watch. It’s 10.15pm! I am still one hour away from the airport. I don’t want to be late! I started cursing the traffic. The trucks had jammed all the lanes. I started honking and made way through the trucks. The queue was endless. I stepped out of the car to get a perspective of how bad the traffic was. I could see the queue till the horizon and not one truck moving from its place. I should have left one hour early so that I could have reached before trucks jamming the lanes. Suddenly, I saw few cars overtaking the trucks from the opposite lane. I smiled looking at the view. You don’t feel guilty when everyone is breaking the rules. At once I got into my SUV and drove off to change the lane. I followed other cars and felt relieved that my car at least started moving ahead. When I crossed the trucks queue, I felt like I have won some car race. I was on the highway lane now. It’s now a straight road to airport! I accelerated and drove in full speed and then suddenly a truck came from nowhere and hit the car which was ahead of me and before I could step on the brake, I turned my car to the sideway reflexively where I saw flashlight that blinded me.

That’s the last memory I had before closing my eyes. I opened my eyes to white ceiling. I could hear my breathing. I looked around and in no time I could realize that I was in a hospital with windows on my left side and glass wall on my right side. There were so many people rushing on the other side of the glass wall but I could see one image standing still and watching me. It took me a while to recognize who he is.

I observed him carefully as he walked to the door. He had landed. What is the time? I knew that time was running out but suppressed the urge to check my watch. I couldn’t feel my hands though. I took a deep breath and started counting in reverse under my breath. "Ten, nine, eight, seven..."

He entered through the door with moist eyes. I could see him clearly now. He looks the same but I had never seen this expression on his face before. He had a pained look on his face which made me all the more helpless. I had definitely not imagined this way we would meet. He was right in front of me but I couldn’t even get up. How helpless a person could be! I had imagined every possible conversation since the moment he made that call. Never had I imagined that I wouldn’t be able to speak and I would be given only few moments to tell him what I felt about him since my entire life. My soul had left my entire body except my eyes. I couldn’t feel my body. There was no pain or maybe all this time I had borne so much pain that now it didn’t matter to me. My eyes were dying to see him. I wanted to fight with him and then I wanted to tell him how much he meant to me. I couldn’t even claim he was mine and I was losing him before that. I saw my life standing in front of me before I closed my eyes.

Things that our world needs desperately!

Captain Planet

I feel it’s high time that the Captain Planet comes into being! The way the environmental issues are cropping up, ready to swallow the entire earth, only a superhuman could save us! And who else can be better than Captain Planet!

Just 30-minutes daily news

I mean, come on! Just because somebody gave them the permission to air 24x7 news channels, people have gone crazy! Anything becomes news! And I believe it is because of these channels that people are becoming cynical and pessimistic. Negativity and hatred spreads easily while love… well you know the situation, right?

Healing potion

Now, we cannot take back the destruction that has already been done but we can surely heal people. Empathizing with people and loving them unconditionally can act as a strong antidote to negative emotions and help people to get heal quickly. I ask for healing potion because we need love and care in large dose and that too urgently. This message might not reach to the larger audience. Hence, I ask for magic!

Hobbits

Yes, you read it right! We need Hobbits from Lord of the Rings. Remember Shire - the place where the hobbits live. Heaven, wasn’t it? The hobbits might remind us that it is not that difficult to live life. The things that we are running after while missing on our lives do not matter much in the end. May be hobbits could teach us to live simply and fully.

Ban mobile phones

Honestly, I feel mobile phones are less of a convenience and more of a problem. I mean, people have started living in their own bubble and are virtually somewhere else. We have become technology slave majorly because of mobile phones. I even read somewhere that the wireless network is one of the major reasons that people are losing their immunity and is even harmful for birds. So, banning mobile phones will help people to live in the moment and save lives of the people too.

Mocktail for Sun

I think our sun has become too hot and no one even cares to serve our sun with a mocktail. I would have said cocktail but I don’t want the sun to get high and leave the solar system. Can you imagine our solar system without the source of solar? Anyway, my point is our earth is becoming hotter and hotter day by day. We need to do something to reverse the effects. Mocktail is the desperate step that I could come up with. If you have any other suggestions, please add in the comment below.

Guardian Angel

People have lost their way. The things that should actually matter is not even taken into account. We really need someone who could hold our hands and lead the way. Let the angel be in any form but we need the angel desperately to bring back the life in perspective.

Timebound in Timeless Tale

Time – the most important element in our limited lifespan. Running with time is one of the traits that we have cultivated over time. Obviously, time beats us every time but giving up is not something that humans do. We set tasks for ourselves making our life driven by timetable. And you would be considered foolish to not go with time. But when evolution happens in its own time, healing takes place at its own pace and when miracles happen without taking time into consideration; isn’t it a little strange that we go against the flow and try to get things within the time limits set by us?

When wise people advice to have patience, don’t they mean to stop running with the time and stop getting anxious with every ticking sound?? Sometimes, keeping track of time ruins it all. I know, I know we live in a world where everything is time-driven and patience is not a luxury that everyone can afford. But you know what, I have experienced some of the best things when I have lost track of time! Like having a long chat with your loved ones, reading a good book and getting totally engrossed in it, wandering aimlessly with friends… aren’t these the moments which forced us to look beyond time dimension? Doesn’t it tell us something? Why do we need to keep everything within the time limits? Everyone is special here. Believe me, when we will leave from here, we will leave a beautiful story behind us only if we start seeing things beyond time.

I am not saying that stop taking time into account. I am just saying try to see something without any terms and conditions! Like when they say, Right things happen at the Right time, they certainly mean things will happen at its pace. So, stop seeing everything through hour-glass! Beautiful things take time to evolve. Give it the liberty to come to you at its best rather than forcing it to rush. Things start falling into place when there are no conditions but just a belief that it will happen! J

Your tale will be timeless as it is bound to be. The best things come to those who wait and witness the nature taking its course!

Superpower

Ever wished to have some kind of superpower? Well, I always wished to have one. Wouldn’t it be cool to make impossible possible with your powers?

As a kid, I always wished to have flying as my superpower. I imagined myself flying across the cities, reaching for the sky, touching those candy floss-like clouds, going all the way up to moon and coming back! Basically, a free world/space trip J

But as I grew up, I started getting obsessed by the thought of making this world a better place to live in. The flying images were replaced by healing someone. No, not the type of healing that doctor does. I mean, the doctors heal physical injuries but there are some scars that no one can see. I intend to heal those scars, for it is because of those scars that people are the way they are.

When I see people lost in pain, wandering alone on deserted streets, homeless – who just sit in one corner of the lane so that they appear to be invisible; my heart goes out to them. I don’t know how could I make them feel better, how can I wipe their tears when those are not even there. Their eyes have lost the shine; their scars are so deeply etched in their hearts that they don’t feel anything anymore. They are numb inside out. I have seen people losing their mind, their identity when they lose someone they loved whole-heartedly. They were in so much love that they forgot their own identity and when they lost them, they lost themselves too. I don’t know if it’s a courage or weakness to love someone so much. When I see such people, those are the moments that I need my superpowers the most!! Those moments make me desperate to believe in superpowers. If only I could take their pain away, that I can make them feel better so that they start breathing life once again. If only I can heal those scars…

There are other kind of people too who needs healing. I see rude, pessimistic people who are driven by things that don’t really matter in the end - People who are always running for something treating life as a rat race. People who are so obsessed with money and worldly success that they won’t even mind to pull others down, cheat and hurt people on their way to success. People like them also need to be healed. They have forgotten life’s beauty and way of living. They have forgotten to love someone unconditionally, to trust someone and to be kind and generous with each other. People like these make society downright cruel and status-driven. It is because of such people that the society is losing faith on people/good virtues. If these people are not healed, they would infect others too. Believe me, it spreads like an epidemic. They need to be healed in time. It’s for them that I want my superpower in action.

I could see myself going upto such people and keep my hands on their cheeks to heal them. As soon as I place my hands on their cheeks, a cyan-colored aura lights emit which starts healing process. They break into tears as their sorrows leave them and scars get heal. And then as the tears run down their cheeks, they get healed.

I know, I know this seems to be illogical, ridiculous and nonsense thing to be imagined. But maybe it’s my urge to do something for them and my helplessness to do anything for them that makes me come up with such weird imaginations. They say your imagination gets imprinted somewhere in the universe which ignites some kind of cosmo energies that work towards making your imagination a reality. So, I would like to believe that I send some positive energy - called Love in my dictionary - to them even if they are strangers. I guess love is the only superpower that everyone possesses as of now! J If we all use our superpower, maybe we can heal these people. So, can I count you in? J

Beautiful

Treat to your eyes, something pleasant, something that touches your heart – some of the feelings that I associate with Beautiful. Few weeks ago, I realized Beautiful feeling in a very different way.

An 8-year boy, who I used to see everyday but didn’t share any greetings, that day suddenly came to me and asked

“Didi, I want to become engineer. And I want to go US. What should I do?” he asked anxiously

Somebody must have told him I am in IT field, I thought to myself. Most of them associate IT with going US. I didn’t find it strange him asking me such questions.

I replied cheerfully “Why do you want to go US?”

“Coz I want to be rich. I will be rich in US” he replied confidently

Wow! Now that’s what I call a misconception. I didn’t have the energy to debate with an 8 yr-old boy. So I simply asked “Why do you want to be rich?”

I didn’t even know where the conversation was going but I wasn’t really interested to give him genuine answers.

He looked at me and without even blinking his eyes once he answered “Coz I don’t like my mom washing utensils in other people’s house. If I become an engineer and go to US then I will be rich. And my mom won’t have to work then”

These words came out of an 8 yr-old boy while I stood there dumbstruck. Losing words has always been my forte but not able to think anything and just having the urge to take him in my arms is something else. Can an 8-yr old boy grasp this much? Can an 8-yr old feel responsible for his mother at such tender age? This was overwhelming. It seemed somehow unfair to me for him being so responsible and mature at this age. And yet I couldn’t miss how beautiful is the relationship of this son & mother. His love for his mother is driving him to become successful. He excels in academics and no gifts for guessing why. Isn’t love the driving factor always? I wished if I could do something for his mother. At that moment, I simply told him to meet me next day and that I will share the details with him tomorrow. I couldn’t think anything beyond this. What else I could tell him to comfort him?

It turned out that his mother knew me well as she knew my mother. The next day she met me and she told me how proud she is of her son. Her son used to tell her he wants to be engineer and he even shared the reason of becoming so. It was she who had suggested him to meet me. She said she didn’t have that much savings for his engineering but she was confident that she will find a way to arrange for the fees. Her eyes were gleaming with happiness and she said "My son knows what he wants to do in his life. And I couldn’t ask for anything more!" I then realized his mom is already happy. His dream was enough to make her happy and content with her life. They both had find happiness in their imperfect life. The vibe that I got from his mom was so beautiful. Her eyes gleaming with happiness and her shaky voice which poured glory for her son was out of the world - Beautiful to its core.

8 Crazy Thoughts that make Life Wonderful! :)

No, no.. I am not suggesting to have these thoughts when you are in similar situation. Everyone has a particular way to deal with their situation. Well, mine are as below:

1) When it rains like cats and dogs, especially when you are just about to step outside your home. Its like a band which is waiting for the VIP to step out and the moment they see the VIP "Dhoom! Dhoom!" they start playing with all their guts. I feel the same way. Its like the rain waits for me to step outside and moment the clouds see me they burst into heavy rains!! I always enjoy rains and when I think the rain treats me as VIP then it takes the enjoyment to whole another level! I love getting drenched in rains. I love the rains even when my trains are slow, when I don't get rick, when I am still on my way to office.

One more crazy thought that makes me love the rains is I believe each raindrop as a blessing from God. I can't count them but I know that all those raindrops which are being showered on me are actually the blessings!! Its like a treat to my eyes to see so much blessings getting showered on me!

2) When getting stuck in traffic

Crazy Thought: Time has stopped for me. It wants me to reflect and see the world from larger perspective. It gives me time to observe the surroundings and listen to music in peace. Its a wonderful way of spending time with myself.

3) When I don't get a rick

Crazy Thought: Road starts talking to me. "Hey, you don't talk to me nowadays! I miss you. Walk with me. Spend some time with me. Wasn't I your best friend? How's your life going?...." and that continues till I find one or till I reach my destination

4) When I am in lift which stops at all floors.. as in a slow lift

Crazy Thought: The lift loves their visitor and I am one of the special ones. So, it takes me to a tour wherein it shows me a glance of all floors and takes an approval from me. When I approve the floor's look, it closes and takes me to another floor! I appreciate the lift's efforts to stop at each floor. I can't imagine the kind of energy it takes to do that everytime.

5) When the people around me are terrible and it gets tough dealing with them

Crazy Thought: My sins are getting washed away. I mean, I am a sweet, harmless girl. Nobody could purposely make my life difficult and if, at all, it is happening, it would be for some good reason. So, what I could think of is it is one of the ways to wash away my sins.

6) When I am in a damn crowded place

Crazy Thought: They all are lost in search of something they don't know. They are searching for one of the most craziest person...ME! So now this is my task. I have to make my way through the crowd in such a way that they don't realize/recognize it is me who they are searching for. When I am out of the crowd, I win!

7) When my life is stuck or as I say in "Pause Mode" ... Living same day all over again everyday

Crazy Thought: God is planning a big - huge surprise for me! The best days are coming my way.... He is just decorating my surprise nicely so that I am flabbergasted when I see it. I know at such times I have to Trust Him the most!

8) When life gets difficult

Crazy Thought: More than a thought its a deed. I take a break. Its a great way to recharge yourself. I do something which makes me happy like reading a book, just wandering aimlessly or getting myself involved in voluntary service....

Corporate Life Reloaded

So that week the world was celebrating World Environment Week and suddenly out-of-nowhere there were so many environmentalist/NGOs talking about waste management, e-waste, going green so on and so forth. May be not “out-of-nowhere”, they were there already but in that particular week, it was as if somebody had drawn focus lights on them i.e. the environmentalist and the social activists/NGOs! There were initiatives under CSR drawing attention of crowd, existing in Corporate world, towards e-waste produced from electronic items, which again made my mind take a leap to a whole new world!

A world where there are no computers!! I mean think about it, hypothetically, one day a bill is passed by government banning the use of computers because of the e-waste that it produces!!! (I know, I know… It is not even close to what bills are getting passed in parliament and what agenda our new government has… But still who has the guts to make imagination go through a reality check!!) So here I am in a world where government has banned use of computers!! And I tell you it looks soooo exciting and awesome!!!

Since there are no computers in corporate world, it means no e-mails!! (yippeeee!) Can you imagine this? No need to archive your mails, no need to check who needs to be in Cc, no need to keep checking emails again and again!! As it is I feel the corporate world waste too much and stresses too much on email communications. As if your life and death depends upon an approval mail. Things communicated over phone needs to be mentioned again in mail so that it is there in “black and white” Somehow I feel, emails are one of the reasons because of which people have started losing faith on keeping words. Things promised verbally are not taken into account as long as it is not mentioned in “black and white”. People call it “professionalism”, I call it “losing faith”.

Anyways, so where was I, yes… So if there are no emails, the communication means will be back to square one! Oh yes, pigeons will be back in demand!!

Employees will write messages on leaves (Well, if govt would have passed "no computer" bill, I am sure they would have already passed “no paper” bill) and they would send it via pigeons (can you hear the song “Kabootar ja ja ja” in background? Oh yes, I can). There will be a risk that you might not get any replies and worse you might not get even get your pigeon back. The risk is even high when your letter is set to piss off the receiver. :p

As an alternative to pigeons, you can also have puppies; Cute little puppies. Only one extra thing you will require is receiver’s socks! Yes, you guessed it! We will make those cute little puppies smell the receiver’s socks so they would know whom to give the letter! (Now, I can imagine Tuffy from Hum Aapke hai Kaun running towards the right receiver!)

It will be such an exciting change! And in case you are wondering how these pigeons/ puppies will travel to different towns then worry not my Friend as for that we have rivers and sea! We will have message in bottles with our company name written on the bottle! Our people from the other end of the shore will have a dedicated team to fish out those bottles! What a great way to send messages! Can you imagine the level of faith that will rise among people as they will inculcate faith in these communication means!

We will have genuine calls with our client. We will have concrete tangible solutions rather than software. We will have mechanical energy in place. We would be selling mechanical solutions rather than IT solutions. The client would travel or we might send them video cassettes of the machines running. Wow, this era will see video cassettes back in action! Ohh, this will be like going back in time! May be we would live the era of Flintstones where we would have cars which we would have to lift and run (Well, if govt has passed “no paper”, “no computers” bill, they would have surely passed “no automobiles” bill)

Sounds awesome! Isn’t it?

I told you imagination doesn't have any horizon! It could build a world on its own without an iota of effort! J

Guardian Angel!

Guardian Angel...
Oh, I always wished I had one! One who would always be with me. Not like shadow, but like sky; always watching over me. Would always light the path which was meant for me, caught me if I ever fall, would hold my hands whenever I would feel alone and scared. Whisper in my ears, answer to my prayers. In short, a more real version of God.

But as they say, there is no free lunch! If Guardian Angel existed in real life, there would be one Aamir Khan for every kid (referring to "Taare Zameen Par" - Every Child is Special). Life would be so easy! All mysteries of life would be solved in a blink of an eye. Everybody would do what they are supposed to do. Ideal People in Ideal World. I think it would be great for atleast once in my lifetime, I will be sure what I am doing is right, that what I am doing is something that I am suppose to do. But then again, I wouldn't have the excitement that I have in my life right now. No butterflies in my stomach, no more somersaults or getting curious to know what lies ahead. However, I won't say I don't believe in Guardian Angel; and that I don't think they exist. They exist in such a way that they can always remain a hot topic to discuss. Well, with elections coming up, I think Guardian Angels are something our nation needs desperately to see them in action!!

Well, atleast I experienced my Guardian Angel recently, when I was recently down with fever and I had to travel to take 5 hours lecture. On any sick days, I wouldn't have gone even outside my apartment, but that day was different. That day I was a girl of commitment. You know Salman Khan type "commitment" (Ek baar maine jo commitment kar diya, fir main khud ki bhi nahi sunta!).. Ya, that one! So, I got dressed up with doubt in my mind, hope in my heart and prayers in my mouth and stepped outside. It took me around one hour to reach to my destination and then it happened! Boom! I was as fit and as healthy as anyone could be! It was a miracle to me! I stood for 5 hours without having my lunch and yet delivered a wonderful session! I could feel the positivity around. I couldn't believe it was me who was in bed few hours ago, still deciding whether I should take an off or go. But once when I decided to go, the Guardian Angel came into action! Yes, it has to be my Guardian Angel to help me through this. It was him who swirled his magic wand and woof! the fever was gone! and believe me, it didn't come back.

The Guardian Angel needs a nudge and that nudge is nothing but the decision that you make. If you make up your mind to achieve something, the Guardian Angel helps you to achieve it. Like the way SRK says "Kisi cheez ko dil se chaaho toh poori kaynath tumhein usse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai" I know that was originally from Alchemist - Paulo Coelho but you didn't think I would mention Aamir & Salman in my blog and would not mention Shahrukh, did you? :)

Love for Free Free Free!

Love...

can be easy or difficult from person-to-person. It depends actually on the intention of loving someone. If every-time you expect to own what you love, it will never be easy to love someone.

Looking around, I see people struggling to buy/win love and keep with them as a showpiece/asset whatever they expect it to be. But for me, love is something that needs to be given freely. Not every love needs to be owned or not every love needs to be expressed. Loving someone for the sake of it, without expecting anything in return is also a wonderful experience. Remembering them in your prayers, blessing them, loving them without their knowledge is the most amazing thing. They would never ever know because you would never tell them because it’s not important that you express your love every-time you love someone. But every-time you raise your hands in front of God to pray something for yourself, you pray for them too. You rejoice in their happiness thinking that God has answered your prayers.

Loving someone so unconditionally is what makes life beautiful. The thought of loving someone not because they would know it; not because you would win them someday; not because they will love you back; it is only because you love them. Their happiness makes you smile, their success makes you happy. Loving them just for the sake of it, that's what makes love beautiful and divine to me. Loving someone so much that they feel the positive vibes around them without bearing your name on it, is something to be just felt and be happy about. Giving away such love and goodwill around is what I love. Being like a shining star in somebody's life, without even them knowing it is what makes me feel out-of-the-world!

If you haven't tried doing this yet; giving away free unconditional love, start with someone who you feel is miserable or someone who is jealous of you; believe me, even they are the miserable ones. Ask for their happiness and peace; love them because they need it the most. And eventually, you will see things changing around them, which will make you happier. Love them for they share the same soul as yours. Such unconditional love is what makes this world a better place to live in!

The Act of God

Its been quite a while since I have sat down to write something. But truly speaking there was nothing that came upto my mind until recently...
Forgiving is one of the greatest virtues of Human Kind. I truly believe that the act of forgiveness helps you to get free of the grudges and helps you to move on. However, it did not click me until recently that a kind person can give forgiveness if somebody asked for it; but forgiving somebody who has doesn't even realized his mistake, it takes much more than a kind person!

All my life, I had met 2 kinds of people : one who confront their mistake and asked for forgiveness and the other one who realize their mistake and drift apart to avoid confronting their mistakes. I had the strength to forgive both these kind of people. More than them, I did it for myself. I am the kind of girl who cannot hold any grudge in her heart. As it is my heart has some very important and blissful things to do rather than cry over what happened before. I have bad headaches and stomach churning until I don't forgive anyone. I have to forgive everyone only then I can live peaceful life. I don't know how people can live with grudges all their life. I don't have that much energy nor that much time to spend on something I don't like!

However, I was faced with the greatest difficulty when I came across the third kind of people. People who don't realize their mistakes, they know they have hurt someone still they don't care to show up and ask for forgiveness. They don't even drift apart and pretend as if they were still my close friends as always!! How do you deal with such people? What heart does it take to forgive such people? Why do I even care to forgive such people? They don't deserve my forgiveness. They don't deserve to be my friends. They don't deserve to occupy my mind and torture me like this. So stupid but so true! They hurt me and then they linger in my head torturing me all the time. I know the only way to get them out of my head is to forgive them and move on. But then how can you forgive someone who has not asked for it?

How can you possibly talk to them like nothing happened and pretend that everything is fine? I had decided to ignore them, not to talk to them and rather than they drifting apart, I move away from them. But it wasn't possible as we met everyday. Though I didn't talk to them, it didn't bother them. They didn't even care to ask nor did they have courtesy to come face-to-face and confront. It was the most difficult phase! I knew I had to forgive them but couldn't gather the courage and strength to do so. I knew I can never be friends with them again but to be cordial with them I had to forgive them. I just didn't know how. How should I forgive them? I wasn't that kind person after all.

And then few days later, one quote caught my eyes which led to the solution. The quote was

"People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered; Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives; Be kind anyway......

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God; It was never between you and them anyway."

That's it! It took me less than a minute to forgive all of them! The world changes around you, when you see it from a larger perspective. That's what happened then... I got the strength to forgive them. My heart was thankful for that. I know my heart was suffering the most during those days. In fact, I wanted to make it up to my heart. So, I took a good novel and read it to my heart. Its the one thing that my heart always love :)

I realized that forgiveness is Act of God and you feel happy and at peace when you know you have the courage to perform the Act of God!

Lost Cloud

It was cold February. I had decided to take a walk along the seashore. It had been a while since I had spent some time alone near the seashore. I removed my shoes and held it in one hand and walked on the sand. The beach was isolated. However, the wind and the waves made it a point to give me company. Needless to say, I love their company. They do not voice in their opinion. They just go with the flow. Being with me but not interrupting me. They were like the best companions anyone could have.

Eventually, I reached the shore. The waves hitting the shore slowly reached my feet. The waves were cold and soothing. The sun was packing its rays to leave the horizon. As I stood there ready to bid goodbye sun for the day, I noticed a small chunk of cloud appearing at the scene out of nowhere. What is this cloud doing in this clear sky today? The beach has the power to always bring out my philosophical nature. Hence, I could not ignore the small cloud. Somehow, I was feeling sorry for the cloud. It did not have the power to hide the sun nor the ability to give rains to the land. It was like a lost cloud with nowhere to go, no direction to follow, just keep on floating into endless barren sky. I didn’t know if it will ever find his big brothers, his family with whom he would be able gel with. What will he do all alone in an open sky? What is the point of existing when you don’t have reason for living?

I kept looking at the lost cloud and raised one hand trying to touch it and comfort it.

“Don’t worry, I am fine” came a heavenly voice out of nowhere. I looked around to see no one. I looked at the lost cloud again.

“It’s me”

I gave a confused look at the lost cloud and asked “Is it you?”

“Yes” it chuckled and said “It’s me”

“Are you lost?” I asked it with concern

“No, I am not lost”

“Then why are you alone?”

“Even you are alone. Are you lost?”

“No. But it was my decision to be alone”

“Well then it was my decision to be a lone traveler”

“Where are you going now?”

“To find my destiny”

“Do you know the way?”

“Finding way is not my job, floating though is my job”

“Do you think you will find your destiny one or the other day if you keep floating?”

“Yes…”

“Good” a slight smile appeared on my face.

“I don’t think you always speak to human beings. Do you?” I asked it curiously

“No... But you compelled me to do so”

I giggled and said “I was just worried”

“I know. Thanks for caring”

“You’re welcome”

“What?” came a voice from behind.

I turned around to see my friend.

“What are you doing here?” I queried

“Who are you talking to?” she questioned back

“To that cloud” I smiled and pointed at the cloud.

She looked at me as if I have lost my mind.

“Are you alright?”

“Yes, I am. I was just worried for that cloud. But he says he is fine and he will find his destiny” I calmly said

“Oh yeah and what else did it say?”

“Let’s go home. I will tell you rest of the story on our way back”

“We need to see a doc first” she teased

I giggled on her comment and walked with her back home.

I turned around to see the lost cloud that was not really lost and smiled at it.

Lessons @25

I will be turning 25 this July. Well, it’s not something to flaunt/brag about. In fact, girls prefer to hide their age especially when they enter in their mid 20s. But I would like to believe I am a weird strange girl who does not care to hide her age.

So, where was I? Yeah, I am turning 25. And technically, I have lived 1/4th of my life (I would also like to believe that I will be completing my century though I am not too sure if this earth will exist till 2020). So this year, I would be celebrating my Silver Jubilee. And with the thought of it, I could not stop but reflect those years that I have spent here. Was it worthy enough? Did I do something great? Am I satisfied with how I have lived my life? How many regrets do I have? Am I happy with the way my life is going?... There are hundreds of such questions which make me think about my life. From all those questions, the one question that brought me to write this blog was: What have I learned in these 25 years? There are many things that I learnt over the years but since it’s my 25th birthday, I have listed 25 lessons that I have learn in these 25 years. The 25 lessons that I have learnt are as follows:

1) Don’t tell lies. It is the easiest way to ensure peace of mind.

2) Treat others the way you want to be treated. Empathize.

3) Good virtues will never go out of trend. You can always rely on those things.

4) Don’t just do things because everyone else does. Just because everyone is doing it, does not mean it is the right thing to do.

5) Groupism gives a false idea of borders and divisions. Do not believe in groupism. You can be good with everyone and be a part of every group. In other words, learn from everyone, follow no one.

6) When you can’t make a decision, leave it to the 3rd empire (God). When He makes the decision, it is the best decision for you.

7) Broken heart pains more than the broken limb. Never break somebody’s heart and if you ever did confront them and ask for forgiveness.

8) Forgiveness is the sweetest revenge you can take.

9) Never give advice to anyone except when somebody has asked for it or if it is a question of life and death.

10) The nature of forgetting is the best gift that God could have given us.

11) Before getting off rickshaw/taxi/bus thank the driver. Believe me, the goodwill spreads.

12) Be more kind and generous to people who are less privileged than you.

13) Reserve a pocket for garbage. Avoid throwing garbage on streets.

14) Accept your mistakes. Blaming and defending yourself will only make things worse and you less respectable.

15) Your word is your promise. If you cannot keep your word then don’t utter it.

16) Voluntary service gives you happiness and satisfaction even when your life is not perfect.

17) Teachers play the most important role in a child’s life. They can either create or destroy a child’s life.

18) Music and good novels are the best remedies to a stressful or empty life.

19) You are the luckiest one if you have a loving family and supportive friends.

20) Don’t make others count what you did for them. It is the cruelest way to snatch everything you had ever given to them.

21) Laugh wholeheartedly. Don’t resist because of others. They will find one or the other reason to prove you are crazy.

22) Spirituality is the best way to see the life from larger perspective and find peace in this chaos.

23) Getting lost is the best adventure anyone could have.

24) Gratitude makes you aware of what you have and gives no space to jealousy.

25) Being yourself is the key to live life happily!

My World!

I sweep away to my world which is up above sky. I touch the mountain’s peak and the birds which fly along with me. I am not alone. The wind surrounds me like a guardian angel. It whispers in my ears getting entangled in my hair. I touch the clouds on my way above….

The world above sky is beautiful. It is ice blue color with white flowers spread across like stars all around. The path to my castle is made up of white cotton. My feet are caressed by the path. I had not even started my journey to the castle when the flying chariot came to me with white healthy breed horses. They swept me away to the castle of my dreams. At the entrance the angels awaited my arrival. They kiss my forehead and welcome me with open arms. The doors open to an extravagant hallway. The king stood at the doorstep to welcome me. He was dressed like a Roman God. He took my hands in his and gently kissed those hands. He knelt and pulled me close to him. He hugged me and whispered in my ears “Welcome my princess”. When he pulled me away his eyes were moist. He stood up and led me to the castle of my dreams.

Random Thoughts

The sun wanders in an attempt to touch each and every house with its sunrays. It peeks through every window and wakes up everybody singing chirpy songs. The sun dances according to the lyrics of the song. It whirls around itself, it hops, it shakes and it vibrates. The clouds dance with the sun. The birds whistle to create the background music.

Everyone fly, swim or hops to their workplace. The workplace has people whistling around with cheerful happy faces. They work together, have lunch together and laugh together.

The Sun bids goodbye in the evening by sneaking sunshine through every window in every office. Everybody wraps up their work and wave at each other before leaving. They fly, swim or hop back to their house. They hug and kiss their family. They take their family out to dinner. The whole neighborhood is at the restaurant. Roars of Laughter float around the restaurant.

Everybody have their dinner together. They come back to their houses and take their children to bed. They read bedtime stories to their children and then kiss their spouses and go to bed themselves. The moon takes the responsibility to sing lullaby for everybody. The stars twinkle with the rhythm of the lullaby. Everybody drifts away to the world of peace listening to the soothing lullaby!

Fairytales

Fairytales! There is something about the fairytales that till today I get attracted to it. Recently, I hit the multiplex to catch a 3-D animated Fairytale movie and I loved it! People say that the animated movies are for children and that the fairytales are for children. But I totally disagree!

More than the children, the adults need to watch such movies. Fairytales actually is for everyone to see, for everyone to believe. To know that life is after all a fairytale. There may not be actual witches and wizards in real life, there may not be actual magic happening or an actual prince coming to swept away his princess but the incidents that occur in our life is no less than a fairytale. Every second there are miracles happening around us that we are not aware of. Every time the evil tries to dominate the good through its malicious ways. But in the end it is always good that wins. The good will always dominate the evil in the end.

Sadly, people are forgetting this. They are beginning to lose faith in good. They are losing hope. They are beginning to feel that it’s good to be bad and that to win a race you need to play dirty games. But it’s not that way. It is certainly not! Fairytales teach you simple lessons of life that we in the middle of the journey have forgotten such as to believe in yourself, to believe in good, to love everyone, to be happy, to be friends with everyone, to forgive, to be not disappointed in small failures, to focus on good things, to respect elders, to keep your word, so on and so forth.

Fairytales portrait world in larger-than-life canvas. You are the prince/princess of your fairytale who needs to be strong on their virtues and courageous to face the evil. The witches are like evil people who try to dominate you. You cannot afford to give in to the evil nor can you turn into one of them just because it is the easier option. When you are firm on your virtues, miracles will happen around you to make circumstances in your favor. And in the end, the prince/princess will rule the kingdom!

Life has always been a fairytale but we sometimes do not choose to see that. We ignore the miracles happening in our life and focus on unworthy things: Things that don’t really matter in the end. Get aware of the miracles happening around you and you will see that your life is no less than a fairytale. Simple things such as strong waves hitting the shore is a miracle, you listening to the waves is a miracle, you feel refreshed just listening to the waves is a miracle. You are imagining waves and its sound while reading this is a miracle. Life is made up of such simple moments which bring joy and happiness. And the fairytales depicts the same thing.

So, the next time you feel like watching a movie. Choose a fairytale and experience the simple joys of life! :)

Silent Wishes

During your lifetime you meet millions of people: Some become your friends, some become acquaintance, some without any reason hate you, some without any reason envy you, some say cruel words to you without any good reason, some being stranger help you, some you see everyday but are still stranger to you, some are your well-wishers, some are your relatives, some are your colleagues and then there are some people who come into your life for a while and touch your life in such a way that before you turn back to thank them, they vanish into thin air. I know there will be a person in everybody’s life who would come for a while and would change your life significantly.

I was living my life as it came to me. My aim of life was to be invisible, to get lost in the crowd. And then he came and made me stand in the limelight. I had not asked for it but he made me do it. First, I trembled to face the limelight but then he came and stood beside me which gave me a strange kind of confidence. I was able to survive through the limelight and then realized who I am. I was not born to get lost in crowd. I could not follow the crowd. It was he who made me realize that. He was the one who made me believe into myself and made me realize that I could do anything when I come down to doing it. He was a facilitator. A speaker for a 4 days seminar conducted especially for students who had appeared their SSC. Before going to the seminar, I had decided myself to grab a seat in the last row and to not answer or raise any questions during the seminar. But when I reached there I saw only 14 students. I had no opportunity to hide myself. There was no escape. He grabbed every opportunity to make me stand and speak. He asked me questions to know what I think about the various issues related to personality, perception, feelings, and experiences. Those 4 days changed me. I never thought I could speak in front of live audience. I never thought I could express myself. He changed me. He made me realize about my own capabilities. He introduced me to my strengths. I remember, we going to him on the last day for his autograph and thanking him for all the knowledge he shared with us. While signing in my book, he wrote “You are a beautiful person. Let others know who you real are.” I read those two sentences over and over. Nobody had complimented me so generously before. I was delighted. When I went back home, I was new me.

Years later, that is now, when I look back, I have carried out several presentations in front of live audience. I have been appreciated and acknowledged for my communication skills. And every time someone approaches me and praises me for my skill, I remember him. I don’t know where he is and how he is. I know that my gratitude wasn’t good enough. I wanted to thank him more but I couldn’t. I can’t even picture his face clearly in my mind. Sometimes, I am afraid that we may cross each other somewhere and I wouldn’t even recognize him. I just have a blur image of him in my mind but I couldn’t forget the way he made me feel. He made me feel like I am alive, like my opinion matters, like I am not meant to be invisible, like I am something. I am special.

A couple of days ago, I found the book in which he had signed. I found out that his birthday is on 14^th Oct. I will be mailing him on his old email id. I am not sure if he still accesses his mail but still I am going to mail him and wish him. I am going to thank him for all the efforts he took to make me speak my mind. In my heart, I am hoping that he reads my mail and replies. There would be nothing like to find his mail in my inbox. I wish! :)

An Attempt to Save

It is said that “When the sins rise on the face of this Earth, God showers His anger through His ways”

And considering this statement true, I believe the stacks of sins are overflowing. Or else what would you tell to the floods in Pakistan or the earthquake in Haiti or the climate change? By way the things are going on, it wouldn’t be far that our earth would be destroyed making it difficult for the human beings to stay on it further anymore. They have already started predicting the year when the earth would be destroyed and we all will be dead. If we don’t do anything now, we would surely die along with our mother earth.

God had sent us here to protect and nurture earth but it happened the other way round. Mother earth helped us to meet our basic needs. She gave us the things we needed to survive while we took her for granted. I could feel her tolerance coming to exhaust. She has bear so much that no human being could ever bear. And now she is giving up. It’s high time that we look in her direction before she turns her gaze away from us. We need her and we have to save her. We have to nurture her. We have to give her what she needs. We need to take care of her, free her from the pollution.

I know it’s a very huge mission. And one man alone could not achieve it. So, everyone needs to be made aware of it. We need to spread the awareness. Being responsible for our actions and deeds will help if not eradicating then at least reducing the pollution from earth. Small deeds could end up in great results. It’s an oath that we should take ourselves. We cannot afford to ignore our Earth anymore. It’s already late. Things have already started roaring up, if we don’t take any action now, it would really be too late. It’s right here that we decide to save our earth from getting destroyed and save the mankind from becoming extinct.

And with pollution I do not only mean air, water, noise pollution but also the pollution in our hearts. We have polluted our hearts and minds too. We are so busy in our lives to get bigger flats, bigger cars, greater salary, and more profits that we have forgotten our main duties towards the mankind: The duty of being generous to others, helping others, being kind to others, loving others and caring for others. Yes, it is not a choice to be kind or helpful but it is the duty of every human being to be kind and helpful. Everyone alive here knows they could not live more than 100 years then for what they are striving so much. We are gonna die some or the other day, why don’t we make this place a better place for the generations to come and then leave. Make them learn that living in the end is not so tough. Loving and caring for each other is not tough. Sharing and being generous is not so difficult. Make them realize that the world is really a beautiful place with beautiful people and those beautiful people are us. We are what we think. And if we think we are a good human being and that when we are gone, the world would remember us as a beautiful person then I don’t think there could be any better way to go. The need of the hour is not proving who is more powerful but to share the power within us with others; making our heart free from hatred, jealousy, grudges and selfishness and filling it with hope, humanity and generosity. The joy of saving this earth would be much greater than any other success in this world.

We have to join hands together and save our earth and humanity too. We have to help the generation to come to believe in hope, to make them understand what is important in life and what’s not. It is you who could bring the change only if you think you can. And like the Captain Planet says “The power is yours!”

My Ideal Day

Gentle warm rays enter through my balcony and caress my face. A sweet smile spreads across my face feeling the warmth of the sun. I am still on my soft comfy circular bed and my eyes are still closed but I was happy to know that the sun itself has come to wake me up. I roll over and before opening my eyes, I stretched myself. I slowly shift the sky blue colored quilt from me. My bed sheet is of cloud white color. It was like I was sleeping on cloud and covering myself with the sky. I woke up and before getting down from bed, I saw this pink squirrel shaped floaters. I slid my feet into the soft furry floaters. I got up and went towards the balcony.

The balcony is huge comprising of glass doors and the circumference that has steel rod fencing. The balcony also has a basket swing at one end and a white colored tripod and a white chair at the other end. I went to the balcony fence and hold it with both hands. In front of my eyes, there is a view of lifetime. There is greenery everywhere. There are beautiful trees spread across with colorful flowers. It is as if God himself is celebrating Christmas and decorating every tree he could find with different shape, size and colored flowers. All the trees are well maintained as if there was someone who always took care of them. There were green mountains too spread across the horizon and the sun was peeking from the green mountains’ back. It looked like the sun was some small kid who was shying away and afraid to come in front and show its face to everybody.

I smiled on the thought of that and again closed my eyes. I could feel the sun’s rays on my face. It was as if it had come only to meet me and wake me up and to be with me. It wants to play with me and be with me. It cares for me and loves me unconditionally. I joined my hands and thanked him. I thanked God for giving me the sun, for giving this new day, for giving me this life. I stood there for some time and watching the sun slowly rising, slowly losing away its shyness and raising its face bravely.

I left the balcony and went to my attached bathroom. My bathroom is stylish and modern. It has a beautiful designer bath tub attached to one side and shower cabinet at one corner. The other side has a crystal wash basin with an adjacent designer mirror. I brushed my teeth and washed my face. I changed my night pajamas into track pants and t-shirt. As I left my room, I met mumma in the corridor; she was coming in my room to wake me up but was amazed to see me already awake. We greeted each other and went together to the meditation room. The meditation room is a pyramid shaped room where the energy is said to converge at the center of the room. The room is cool and breezy. We sat in the center of the room for meditation. After half an hour, we both were refreshed and charged up for the day ahead. We went to the gym room and exercised on treadmill and cycle for another half an hour. The gym room had 5.1 stereo surround systems which played all my favorite songs. It was a pleasure to exercise while listening to all my favorite songs.

I went to my room once I was done with exercising and had a long rejuvenating bath. I came out of the bathroom in a white bath robe. I slid the door of my wardrobe. A number of dresses were lined in my wardrobe. I chose the most cute pink t-shirt and white trousers. I got dressed in 15minutes and rushed to my dad’s room. He was still sleeping with his mouth half open. I went close to him and kissed him on his cheek to wake him up. I asked him to come downstairs for breakfast once he gets ready.

I went downstairs to see my mumma already informing our cook what she wants for lunch and dinner. I went to dining table and sat on my favorite seat. The cooks served dad with tea and omelet and mom with fruit juice and slice of jam bread while I was served with chocolate milkshake and Chocos. We did not need any nudge to start conversing with each other. We kept talking till we finished our breakfast.

Once we were done with our breakfast, dad left for attending his voluntary service committee meeting. Mom and I wandered in the garden talking about things that didn’t matter but still were great topics to talk of. Mom and I went to her room and I connected her to my brother through video chatting. My brother is in US studying in MIT. I greeted my brother and left mom and son alone to carry on the conversation.

I came to my room and turned on my laptop. I sat in the basket swing with my laptop and continued writing beautiful stories. Stories that were just in my mind, I started giving them words. I find penning down my thoughts most peaceful thing. It is a great way to bring my thoughts out. I was so indulged into writing that I didn’t realized that it was lunchtime. I was not feeling like having lunch but then my mumma came in my room followed by two other servants. They had brought the lunch with them. The aroma that spread in my room was so delicious and mesmerizing that I couldn’t resist anymore and decided to have my lunch then and there. Mom and I sat in the balcony with the lunch being served by the servants. I love having lunch in the balcony.

Once we were done with the lunch, I asked our driver to pull out our Camry car. I informed him that I was going to drive. Mom and I went downstairs and got into our car. We drove away to the Ghats. I love driving on Ghats. We had rolled up the windows and put on the AC and played my favorite songs all along the journey. We travelled through the Ghats and then reached the peak of the mountain. We got off the car and sat on the bonnet gazing the beautiful nature around us. We sat there until it was late evening. We then drove back to our house.

Dad was back by then. He informed us about the new movie that released and we decided to watch it. We freshened up and I changed into jeans and t-shirt. We had our dinner early as we had to go and book our tickets for the show. This time dad decided to drive. He drove his favorite Sonata car. We all reached the mall on time, booked the tickets, bought some caramel popcorn and sneaked into the theater.

This will be my most ideal day of life!!!!

Things I miss from my college days:

1) My third last bench.... (I believed that the first and the last bench was the most dangerous place.)

2) Maths Tutorials.... (It was fun!)

3) The computer labs.... (We used sit there until sum1 doesnt used to throw us out! :p)

4) All teachers....(They were exceptionally friendly and angels by heart)

5) Everyone from my batch... (Right from the first benchers to the last)

6) The Study Tours... (It was more of a picnic and less of a study tour :))

7) Making cool presentations.... (Best part was sit till late in college and create it)

8) The carefree nature and bindass attitude of all girls... (We didnt use to care to shout and tell "I am going to the loo" :p)

9) All the free lectures... (they were like the cool breeze on a hot day)

10) All the extra lectures... (From those days we learn how to sleep while keeping our eyes open)

11) The lobby where we used to wait for the lift... (It was more difficult to get into the lift than getting into a crowded local train. The best part was when the lift used to show "Overweight" sign and still nobody would be ready to get out of the lift. Everybody used to eye at each other :p)

12) Getting late for the lectures... (The best part was to run through the corridor and hop to the class and shout on top of our voice "Ma'am may i come in")

13) Bunking lectures...(The spontaneous plans would make us go crazy and make us bunked lectures)

14) Going for movie... (We didnt care how the movie is. Our goal was to see every other movie that was released)

15) Walking wid friends from college to station... (We used to hop on the white stripes of the zebra crossing and see who crossed it first)

16) Monsoon days... (We were least bothered about trains not running. We used to wander the whole city aimlessly, Getting soaked in rain and were least bothered when the trains would resume)

17) Worli sea phase... (Going wid all my frnds to Worli sea phase just to get wet)

18) Chaatwala... (He used to come at 4pm & there were days wen we used to specially wait till 4 for just having the chaat from his gaadi)

19) Teaching my frnds... (Used to wait after college to teach my frnds concepts that they didnt understand)

20) Study leaves... (All we used to do was call each other and ask "kitna hua?")

21) Exam days... (As soon as i used to enter, i wud hear them saying "arey ye kiya kya?" "eh, muje ye bata na!" "maine ye chod diya" "arey kal to main so gayi!")

22) Holidays... (Total freedom!)

23) College staircase... (Where we used to study)

Inspiration

I had written this poem when I was in high school :)

When I was left alone to face problems,

the stars came up and showed me the way,

the trees protected me by giving me its shade,

the rain came and washed away my tears,

then came the sun and helped me in overcoming my fears,

the birds flew high that gave me the inspiration to touch the sky,

the rainbow was created that filled my heart with joy,

then I realized that I was not alone,

but on me were God's blessings shone!
