My inbox for Creating Vintage Charm submissions is always packed with so many great ideas and pictures, makes it difficult to choose from. But what if I do not want to choose? I want to put them all out there. Here are these wonderful artists, crafters and homemakers hoping to reach out and inspire with their wonderful ideas. Isn't that what Creating Vintage Charm is all about?! So I decided to put this bloggity blog to use and feature some of these wonderful creative people by hosting blog posts.

Today we present you our first guest, Melissa Jenkins from Country Chiq with Vintage Sheet Music wall art.

I have been slightly obsessed with displaying vintage sheet music around my home. One of my favorites is the sweet little girl who is calling Heaven.

It matches perfectly in my “yellow” guest room, by adding a splash of yellow on the white desk.

I also created a feature wall in my living room.

I collected frames from thrift and discount stores and painted them white. Then I traced the sizes of the frames onto Kraft paper and taped them onto the wall. I played around with how to place them on the wall before nailing in the hanging hooks.

When I decided on where to place the frames, I nailed the hooks into the kraft paper and then tore them off and hung up the frames. I then added a few vintage items below the frames.

And finally, I absolutely love this last sheet of music, and so do my daughters! I used this as a prop for my Valentine’s Day decorations for my Etsy shop.

I came across blogging five years ago and I thought it seemed like a fun thing to do and I had to try it out. I have never looked back since. It has been an amazing journey that molded me into the person I am today. Yes it is life changing.

It changed my life and I believe it can yours too.

Today I am celebrating the launch of a new eBook by bestselling author and blogging expert Cindy Adkins.

Women: Blogging Can Give You Wings

I admire Cindy's desire to inspire and encourage others to explore the world of blogging. The book talks about the many opportunities that come from writing and connecting through blog. It also features a collection of women whom she refers to as "super-bloggers" who all offer their insight and also talk about how life-changing blogging could be.

I am honored to be included with those women featured in the book, and as are Karen Valentine, Sharon Hughes, Pat Winter, Soraya Julian and others as well. Thank you Cindy for the wonderful opportunity.

I hope to keep bringing you these lovely images. Gosh I have so many and more I am working on. Spring issue is in the works while I also try and move home and family to another state AND after that is happened and we are settled... I have plans.... Creating Vintage Charm plans!!

My goal for the publication was to inspire and recognize so many creative souls out there. If I can make it, so can you make it to where you want to be. Don't stop working towards your dreams. That is what I am doing! Hope you join me and do too!

After many requests especially from international readers to go digital, I finally decided to take that step and release the September 2010 issue in digital format.

So far I have released the Sept issue but others will be released soon. Next would be the Winter 2010 issue and it will be released to date a year later from its original printed release.

Creating Vintage Charm, One Year Celebration Giveaway

Here we are, a year later, celebrating 5 successful and wonderful issues of

Creating Vintage Charm.

I would love to first of all, send a BIG THANK YOU, to all of you who contributed to this magazine, in anyway, shape or form. After all, this magazine wouldn't be what it is without you. All the talented artists, crafters, designers, photographers, stylists, writers... I have met so many wonderful people in this venture and I know that I will be meeting many more.

I had this vision when I was planing on this magazine, of inspiring creativity, art, design and decor in vintage style. Anything past our generation is vintage. And everyone has different tastes. And I do hope that with this magazine, I would be able to deliver something fun for everyone.

Now for the Giveaway...

I created a wall plaque... and it has my favorite quote on it...

Creativity is allowing yourselves to make mistakes,

Art is knowing which ones to keep....

Isn't that a wonderful quote!!

The winner of this giveaway will get the nice, scroll, mixed media wall plaque...

But that is not all...

Look what I found while I was out hunting...

I thought its perfect size to stuff with goodies to inspire THE creativity...

So I went on hunting some more...

Kathy Harris from Vintage Rose Antiques in Cana, VA... I love to visit her and her shop... she got me started by providing with some music sheets to add in the box.

And creating some more...

I found a vintage farm journal from the 1920's, lace doileys...

Then I came home and looked into my stash of wall papers and borders...

Some pink striped wall paper scraps, some pink ribbon and roses wallpaper, some black and white Victorian style bathroom wall paper...

Added some Victorian lace and crochet lace, buttons, a cameo... hmmm!! I hope I can close this box =)

I may have not mentioned everything that is included but its all in the pictures... that sits on top of the open case of course...

Carol at Through the Woods makes very lovely vintage style tags....

And she sent me a few batches to giveaway. One batch will be included in the box and the others will be given to other winners. I believe I will be picking another 4 winners to get these beautiful tags with the famous propaganda slogan,

It's almost here, the day must of us look forward to every year. The kitchen is filled with spicy and fruity smells from all the baking and goodies, lights and candles shine brightly all over the house, the glow of snow coming through the windows, kids are impatiently waiting for that special visit in the middle of the night. Families come to gather at home to celebrate the day.

The Creative Challenge Results!!!

This was a tough one, all the creations were beautiful. Made it really hard for any one to decide. Honestly they all went beyond what I expected to see. I was amazed by the creative ways the images have been used. So well done ladies...

The Vote counts are:

Here is Pat's Description of her Crazy Quilt Stocking: "...Moments ago I just finished my crazy quilt Christmas stocking using the image of the little girl standing on the chair...I believe she is anticipating Santa's arrival. I added very light coloring on her hair and clothing using scrap booking chalks. I wanted to keep her as vintage looking as possible. I embellished using vintage laces, velvet millinery flowers and leaves,silk ribbon embroidery,vintage buttons and a few other fabric images I altered and printed onto fabric. The wreath image is to "Virginia" from "Santa" and a vintage letter which I added the words, "Dear Santa". This is my first stocking and I didn't have a pattern but I like how it turned out and will be making more..."

Here is Melanie's Description of her doll: "...here are pictures of my colorized photo face doll I made and decided to enter in the Challenge. This is the girl with the big bonnet and muff. This is doll is titled: "Winifred's Christmas" - I added a Christmas stocking holding a mini Frances Brundage "Dolly Dear" replica doll and a paper doll book..."
