Hooray - we can all get paid now! They've just launched their animals campaign which makes choosing a phone plan easier by connecting animals to different kinds of phone behaviour. Canaries chatter away; Racoons are resourceful and industrious; Dolphins are fun-loving and friendly; Panthers are always on the go.

They felt that connecting these animals to some of our podcasts would be a good way to explain their new talk plans, and who are we to disagree, especially when they've come along with a smiley face and a big cheque.

What was disappointing is that they don't give you a free phone at the end of the meeting. No one works on it full-time, but we're trying to get passionate, bright people who love creating great radio, to help us with it all. I'm sure this sounds very sensible, but when you work in a big company it's not always easy to do.

We've also used off-the-shelf software in the form of Loudblog. It's brilliant, but not exactly designed for publishing lots of different channels of content. This means that we've had to hack the software to do lots of smart things when the podcasts talk to iTunes. We've been very worried about whether we were going to be able to do everything we wanted without it all disintegrating in our fingers. Luckily, however, Gerrit in our Group Technology team, is a code genius and i've just spent an entertaining couple of hours watching him make all the fixes we need. I'm now very happy with the infrastructure we've got and it all seems just about ready for launch. Ash as done a great job on the design and is just about there with all of our channels. Now's he's just got to deal with my constant tweaking, knock us up a home page and we're about there.

Lindsey and Howard are doing well with the channels. Kremmen and the first batch of the Studio 7 Comedy and Yo! shows are in the bag and we're making good progress with the literature too. The first pre-launch episodes of Soaps and the Rodcast are sounding good as well. I've also been talking with Ambrose at Film Detail about doing the Movie-Cast and he's just completed the first pilot. There's going to be lots of changes but the bare bones of that's there too.

We also had some good news with the UK Media podcast as Media Week and Campaign are interested in helping out so we'll need to chase that one up next week. A bit more work on UK Polish and London What's On and we'll be there with the first batch of channels.

We've already been thinking about the second batch and I had a good chat today with Marsha at XFM about doing a live music review podcast, and she seems really interested - I could see that being brilliant.

Just noticed on MediaGuardian that The Times have snaffled Baddiel and Skinner for their World Cup podcasts, which is a fantastic idea. We'll have to come up with something even better. Hmmm, thinking caps on.

Even though Richard Bacon's been keeping me company, it's 19:22, so I think it's time to go home. Oh - last thing - i've set up a blog to chart our progress, which, um, you're reading now.
