Sweet baby Taylre was only 3 days old for her newborn session and she did so amazing! Hardly a peep the whole session I was able to get all the shots I had planned (she was part of my model call) while chatting with her mother who is completely in love. I can see why- Taylre’s eyelashes and full lips are so beautiful and she is most certainly a blessing from our Father!

Well this was fun. -10 degrees, a baby waiting patiently in the car and many, many on-lookers…but I’m so happy to have gotten this shot of me and my girls. It’s pretty much what I had in mind…and the girls were SO good! This was another self-timer shot- there’s some funny outtakes of me running back and forth! haha Who wears heels in snow and soft ground? Oh yeah, me.

Will & Wendy | Together for Life {Niagara Wedding Photographer}

This is Part Two of Will and Wendy’s wedding day- you can see their traditional Chinese tea ceremony here. I loved photographing Wendy, in case you can’t tell. She was a natural in front of the camera! Thanks again to Cindy of Absolute Photography for having me along!

After the tea ceremony Wendy changed into her wedding gown with the help of her mother and aunt. We then photographed their touching ceremony in Christ Church.

After the ceremony, the whole wedding party showed just how much they loved Will and Wendy by sticking it out in the cold weather and being absolutely awesome! We photographed them in areas all around Niagara-on-the-Lake. It was a busy day and there were many onlookers and well wishers! At some points there were even tourists standing beside me, behind me, etc. taking pictures of Will and Wendy together! I guess they thought Will and Wendy were pretty awesome too.

I couldn’t decide- color or black and white?

We took some more images of the whole wedding party after cocktails (and warming up) at Queenston Heights Restaurant.

What to Wear {Niagara Infant Photographer}

From personal experience, I can say that putting together outfits for a group of people is NOT easy. With our little family of five, there are so many things to consider- coloring, comfort, style and co-ordination without being too matchy. It takes a special talent to put together perfect combinations of clothing that makes everyone look and feel good! If that talent is not yours (it’s definitely not mine!) you can cheat by looking through some of these inspiration boards…visual inspiration is my only hope when trying to plan our family’s outfits for a session.

A Chinese Tea Ceremony {Niagara Wedding Photography}

Back in October I had the opportunity to second shoot again for my friend Cindy of Absolute Photography. I’m just now getting around to editing some of these images thanks to a very busy and blessed season with my own clients! Will and Wendy incorporated a Chinese tea ceremony into their wedding day to honor Wendy’s heritage. It was really neat for me to see their cultural traditions and learn more about them in the process. Wendy’s mom and aunt told me how brides used to wear 7 different dresses on their wedding day- and how the bargaining for the wife was a very serious tradition which has become more and more fun through the generations. And Wendy’s brother and bridesmaid made SURE that the bargaining process was fun! Will arrived with his groomsmen at the home and stood on the cold wet front porch, answering question after question about Wendy and her family. He knew a lot of the answers and I was impressed- but they were not. They joked that Will didn’t know enough and he didn’t value her enough. Will could see he was losing so he attempted to bribe them with chocolate, but when even that didn’t work- they all broke out in song…it was so off-tune but it did the trick. Will paid his money for his bride and was accepted into the home to see his bride for the first time and take part in the tea ceremony.

Miss Peyton | Fresh Life {Grimsby Newborn Photographer}

Finally I can introduce you all to the most adorable baby girl I know- Peyton Faith. She has been long awaited by her mommy and she arrived in style as the first baby born in West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in 2012! Already featured in our local newspapers, she’s a little star! She was an angel for our session and I am so happy with the beautiful images she gave us. Starting off with a shot while she was still in Mommy’s belly…

I don’t know how this happened, but I recently noticed that I never blogged Becky’s maternity session! Considering it resulted in my fave image of 2011, I had to get it on the blog. So- a few from Becky’s early morning session! I love the light in these- it makes me happy. Sweet Baby Peyton has now arrived was an angel for her session. I’m excited to have her images on the blog this week as well!

Me and Mine | 1/13 {Niagara Child and Family Photographer}

In 2011 I made a resolution that I would capture at least one image per month with our whole family. I didn’t care if they weren’t posed, or if they were crooked thanks to unbalanced cameras, if there were some funny faces or crazy hair- I just wanted to be in some images with my hubby and kids! I wanted something for them to have in their albums, so that one day they could look back and remember this time in their lives, and also remember what Mumma looked like back then. And I did it! One per month. It was hard, very, very hard. I still always tried for a decent shot, which meant a lot of running back and forth between the camera and the kids. And time always seemed to get away from me. I would just post one image and next thing I know my calendar is telling me the next one is due! But I did it and I am so proud and happy I stuck with it! If you want to take a look back, you can see them all here: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December. I think it’s so cool to see the kids growing, especially Kingston from a baby to a toddler!

So this year I decided to do something similar, but this time I’ll be doing it with a group of talented photographers around the world who will definitely inspire me to keep going and stay creative. There will be 13 images-1 every 4 weeks. And instead of family images, I am going to capture Me and Mine. I am hoping to have some personal moments captured between me and my children and hubby but not necessarily everyone at the same time. There are moments every day that I treasure SO MUCH! I want to have them captured somewhere other than my heart’s mind.
