If you’re anything like me, you don’t struggle with ideas.

You struggle with holding onto them long enough to finish them.

Over the years — while juggling part-time work, parenting, client projects, and my own creative practice — I noticed a pattern. I would start something with real energy… then life would pull me sideways. Weeks later I’d return to the project and feel disconnected from it. The spark was harder to find again. Or I had forgotten what or why I was doing only to start the idea again and realise I keep starting again on the same or similar projects.

So I created a simple one-page Project Planner printed simply as an A4 document. I can use pretty pen colours if I want 🙂 I personally print one for every project I’m working on. I print it on card stock and pin it to my wall so I can add to it gradually — especially when I’ve had to pause and return later. I tie this into my larger monthly and quarterly calendar, so that i can actually put in my days/weeks what i need to do and if i don’t I can see where I am up to with this project. If this becomes too overwhelming or I don’t do it its generally a marker that its not really that important for me or i need to extend my deadline for this.

Not a complicated productivity system.
Not a 40-page workbook.
Just a grounded place to land.

It includes prompts like:

Why does this project matter?

What does “done” actually look like?

How can I be supported?

What research or ideas need capturing?

What are the next small steps?

I print mine on card stock and pin it to the wall. When I step away from a project, it stays there — quietly holding the thread for me. When I come back, I don’t have to start from scratch.

It’s especially helpful if you:

Have multiple creative projects on the go

Are neurodivergent and need visual structure

Work in bursts of energy

Get distracted by other responsibilities

Start well… but want to finish stronger

This planner isn’t about pressure.
It’s about returning.

Returning to the why.
Returning to momentum.
Returning to yourself as someone who completes things.

If you’ve been looking for something simple that helps you stay connected to your projects — even when life pulls you away — this might be the tool you didn’t know you needed.

I’ve noticed something over the years.
Most people don’t actually need more information.
They don’t need another art class.
They don’t need 10 new techniques.

They just need someone to look at their work and say:
“Here. This is what’s happening. And this is your next step.”

Sometimes you’re 80% of the way there.
You just can’t see it.

So I’m offering something new —
a short, focused 15-minute session I’m calling The Creative Breakthrough Mini.

It’s simple.

You book your session.

You send through a clear image of your artwork (plus a few short answers).

I carefully review your piece and record a private 10–15 minute feedback video just for you.I will look at what’s working and what’s not quite landing.

And I give you clear, practical steps to move forward.
No fluff.
No overwhelm.
No judgement.
Just grounded, helpful guidance.

You receive:

Your personalised video review

Written bullet-point notes

One follow-up support email for questions or clarification

You can watch the video in your own time and revisit it as often as you like.

No scheduling stress.
No live pressure.
Just grounded, thoughtful feedback.

This is perfect if:

You have a half-finished piece staring at you

You’re second-guessing your skills

You feel like your work looks “flat” and you don’t know why

You want direction without committing to a long course

I’m offering the first 3 sessions FREE as a little introductory gift. After that, it will be a small $15 intro offer.

Because sometimes creative confidence doesn’t come from doing more…
It comes from someone showing you where to look.
If you’re feeling stuck, this might be your nudge.

Why I’m Offering This

Over the years I’ve worked with so many creatives who didn’t actually need more information — they needed clarity.
They needed someone to look at their work and gently say,
“This is what’s happening. And here’s your next step.”
I know what it’s like to stare at a piece and feel unsure. To second-guess your instincts. To wonder if you’re even improving.
This offering exists because sometimes creative confidence doesn’t come from doing more…
It comes from someone showing you where to look.
This is my way of making grounded, practical guidance accessible — without overwhelm.
This is also the way that I have personally grown in my art over the years is to have a mentor to guide me along the way.

Recently I completed this coloured pencil work of Tulips from a recent visit to the Bowral Tulip Festival in the Southern Highlands.

It was so inspiring to see all the flowers and all the colours!

It’s been a very long time since I completed a full coloured pencil work, I use coloured pencils alot in my mixed media works but not as much the full work in pencils. A few of my pencil works had been in storage during my fire so they were safe and on display at my open studio earlier this year and there were many people who were enquiring about them and the process of pencils and I was happy to chat.

Coloured pencils, I remembered as I was working on this really is a unique process is its a bit attuned to the old masters with the underpaintings and the colour theories (as colours are mixed as each layer of pencil is put down) but its also very much a conscious process in terms of work in your tonal values and a little be like watercolours working light to dark or dark to light depending on the way you want to take it. You can mix it up a bit but you cant remove the pencil or just go over it easily like you might with paint, so it all came flooding back as well as the TIME it takes to create a work like this. This artwork is only an 8X10″ but took many hours for the colour build up and blending to end up in this type of end result especially with the darker areas on this lighter paper.

With all that in mind I have so much experience and knowledge to share about working this way I thought I would open up my coloured pencil classes again. So the classes themselves how they will work entirely i am not sure yet, so I will be basing it on expressions of interest, whether that be for a fast paced intensive workshop or a slower paced introductory class that moves into working with you perhaps more self paced? I am not sure but if you are interested in more I invite you to please contact me about holding classes next year there is obviously no commitment at this stage but given my break in teaching these workshops I am I guess, I’m looking to those interested to give me a bit of help regarding what would work for you?

Options I am also looking at is holding these in a couple of locations or online which is convenient for some people but online with support lets put it that way. These options include but not limited to locations: a. Woy Woy or somewhere in this vicinity on the Central Coast NSW b. Southern highlands – Bowral or in this area. Online: This could include a couple of intensive half day online sessions (recorded) that then progress into a weekly checking for say around 6 weeks to allow you to work on a project as questions and help. Or I can package up my previous online class that comes with a downloadable work book an videos. These are a few years old but for those who want a lowcost option given it might be a bit out of date?

If this sounds like your thing please take a quick look at the >listing in my shop where it lets you know how to register your interest and please let me know 🙂

Here are some of my coloured pencil artworks from the past.

One thing I often see (both from customers and fellow artists) is confusion around print sizes — and honestly, I get it! There are so many different measurements floating around — inches, centimetres, paper sizes, frame sizes, mats — it can all start to feel like a bit of a jigsaw puzzle.

If you’ve ever downloaded an art print from Etsy and then found yourself wondering which size to print or what frame to buy, you’re definitely not alone. And if you’re an artist creating prints to sell, there’s a whole extra layer of things to think about — like scanning, saving, and sizing your artwork so it looks great once printed and framed. Not to mention the cost of printing them so there are ways you can organise your printing so each individual print doesnt cost you as much and less run around!

So, to make things a little easier, I’ve put together a simple Art Prints Guide that walks you through it all. It covers the basics, clears up the confusion about sizing, and helps you feel confident about printing or preparing your artwork or buying and printing yourself if you are purchasing prints from me or other creatives.

I won’t go into all the details here, but you can check out the full guide on the link below — it’s a handy reference to keep bookmarked for whenever you’re printing your art or getting ready to frame it. If you love it i would appreciate the share in your networks.

I’ve put together these DIY Canva templates especially for artists — they’re the exact ones I use for my own art prints when I’m getting them done on quality papers at my local printer.

Here is some info on what they are and why you may use them.

Why A1?

If you’re in Australia, you’ll know our printers don’t always play nicely with US paper sizes. That’s why I’ve set these Canva templates up in A1 size — it’s standard here, easy to find, and means you can print locally without the headache.

A1 is a paper size – I have more info on paper sizes for prints and all things of that nature on this page (if you have ever bought from Etsy and had trouble printing you will know what i am talking about here) : Art Prints Framing Guide for Australia.

How It Works

Instead of paying through the nose for individual 8×10″ prints, you can drop a bunch into the A1 template, print them all together, and cut them down yourself. It’s quicker, cheaper, and gives you more control. Perfect if you’re getting organised for markets, stocking up your online shop, or whipping up some gifts as the festive season creeps closer.

Features

There are two versions of the template:

One with bleed (so when you cut, you won’t end up with any sneaky white lines).

One without bleed (if you prefer clean, exact edges).

And yes, I made portrait and landscape layouts in both templates, so whatever way your artwork sits, you’re covered.

The HOW.

Purchase the access to template links from my shop. You don’t need the full verison of Canva. You will get access to the link and a instruction sheet after your purchase. Drag, drop, print, chop. That’s literally it.
Yes you could probably do this yourself, but really do you have time? I made this pretty cost effective to save your precious time.

Perfect for getting yourself organised ahead of markets, stocking up your shop, or even just making a pile of prints ready for gifts. Print smarter, cut them down at home, and you’re set. If you have questions please ask. If you want directions on how to get these done at Officeworks please message me, I am happy to help.

Get them from the shop here:

There’s something sacred about the quieter seasons.

The times when life asks us to slow down, pull inward, and let things settle. Recently, I’ve found myself in a few of those gentle spaces—a time of quiet reflection, soft hibernation, and tuning back in. It’s been a pause I didn’t know I needed, but it’s given me space to reconnect with why I create, how I create, and where I want to go next which to be honest I got frustrated with, cause I still don’t know any of that and that’s ok. This June it was 2 years since the fire, this date in itself was a pause. A gentle snuggle of the things that have passed since then and honoring the space that is now present.

And now, like the first signs of spring—even in the middle of winter—I can feel things stirring again. A little spark. A flutter. That quiet excitement when the creative energy returns and begins to take shape in colour, texture, and story slowly forming without judgment and prediction just being. With that comes the opportunity to step back in and so here I am. A little out of the comfort zone, this in itself trigger events of all the things that I no longer have, the starting again, the credibility of all the past art no longer available to view, past experiences and skills that feel someone distant. I am reminded that the experience of it all and me being me is more that enough… I am so grateful for my supporting friends and mentors that give me the little push I need to trust again and continue the steps forward.

So, I’m opening the doors. Literally. I’m taking part in this year’s Creative Journey – Open Studio arts trail initiative run by Central Coast Council, and I’d love to invite you to come and say Hi 🙂
It’s a chance to wander through the space where my artwork comes to life, see new pieces in progress (and completed), and maybe even have a conversation about the stories behind them. This isn’t a formal exhibition—it’s a relaxed, come-as-you-are kind of gathering. No pressure, no fancy shoes required. I will even have some art materials to play with if you feel so inclined.

It’s always a little vulnerable opening up the space where so much internal magic and mess happens. But I also believe that art isn’t just about the finished piece—it’s about the process, the energy, and the connection it creates. Sharing that process is one of the most beautiful parts of this work and the bit that really gets me more inspired time and time again. I will have some greeting cards and possibly some writing sets (if i can get to it) and some prints available as well as original works for sale if there is something you have been eyeing off. You will also get to have a bit of a looksie of where I have put forward space for workshops that will be good when the weather gets a bit warmer (in the outdoor patio space) that also allows you to look at the trees and the listen to the birds.

Whether you’ve been following my creative journey for a while, or this is your first time peeking behind the curtain, you’re more than welcome.

Come by. Have a look. Soak up the colours. Ask questions. Or just sit quietly and enjoy the atmosphere.

The address is: 49 Melba Road, Woy Woy.
I will be around from 10am till 2 Saturday and Sunday, parking is out the front on the street.

I also invite you to take a look at the many other artists participating in the trail, make a day of it chose your path 🙂

I’m thrilled to share that I’m opening up weekly art classes! I’m so excited to invite you into this creative space—whether you’re a beginner, a dabbler, or a returning artist who’s been feeling the pull to pick up a brush again.

These classes are all about connection, creativity, and giving yourself the time and permission to just make. No pressure. No perfect outcomes. Just the joy of experimenting, expressing, and rediscovering what creativity feels like in your own hands.

What to Expect

Each week, we’ll explore different materials, techniques, and playful prompts to get the creative flow going. Some sessions will be guided, others more free-form—designed to support you whether you’re seeking structure or spaciousness. OR if you have a set theme, technique style or outcome you would like to create we can do that. We can have a chat beforehand.

You don’t need any prior experience. These classes are for everyone—especially those who’ve ever said, “I’m not an artist, but I’d love to try.”

I would say though they are best suited for you if you have had a dabble on your own, or attended other classes and want to go further with some one on one help. Perhaps you would like something specifically taliored to you and want to expand on your skills or play with materials and learn skills that are outside the standard group classes. This is why for now these classes will be limited to 2 people and go for 2 hours with a 20min break. I have two spots available on a Friday or Saturday morning and they will run initially for a 4 week commitments. There just isn’t enough time to complete things is 1 session so I am offering these for those who would like to come more regularly.

Why Now?
After everything life has brought our way over the past few years, I deeply believe in the healing power of art. Making space for regular creativity can ground us, uplift us, and help us feel more ourselves again.
Opening up weekly classes feels like a natural extension of what I’ve always aimed to do with my work: help people reconnect—with themselves, with each other, and with the magic of the creative process.

The Details
When: Weekly Friday or possibly Saturday morning if preferable.
Where: Woy Woy (address supplied)
Who: Open to all levels, ages 18+
Materials: Materials are supplied (or bring your own if you prefer)

Come As You Are

Whether you’re craving a creative outlet, want to meet like-minded people, or simply need a break from the rush of life, these classes are here for you.

Let’s gather, play, paint, sketch, smudge, splash, and reconnect.

Your creativity is always waiting for you—and I’d love to help you meet it again.

If you’re interested, send me a message—I’d love to have you.

With heart and paint-stained fingers,

They are back! just like me 🙂

There’s something so special about a handwritten letter. It’s personal, thoughtful, and a little bit nostalgic — and I’m thrilled to announce that my Letter Writing Sets are finally back in the shop!

These sets have always held a cherished place in my heart (and in many of yours too — thank you!). I have reduced the range a bit to have the most popular ones listed and there possibly will be a few more coming (if you have any requests let me know -wink wink) there are 10 unique designs to choose from, each one is inspired by my original artwork and infused with the same warmth and creativity that runs through all my creations.

You can now order them with or without envelopes, and for that extra personal touch, they can even be customised with your name or a recipient’s name — making them perfect for gifts, snail mail lovers, or just because.

So, where did they go?
Over the past 2years, life threw me a few curveballs — including a studio relocation (three times!) and having most of my creative tools and stock tucked away in storage or destroyed initially. It simply wasn’t possible for me to keep fulfilling stationery orders at the time, so I made the tough call to temporarily remove them from the shop. It was always my intention to bring them back once I had my space — and energy — restored.

Fast forward to today, and I’m finally settled in a new creative space with the sun shining on my desk again. I’m back in full swing and delighted to be offering my stationery range once more.

What makes these sets special?

Each set includes:

A5 writing sheets printed on beautiful, smooth paper

Your choice of envelopes (or none, if you prefer!)

Optional personalisation — just add your name or a loved one’s when ordering

Thoughtful, artful designs to elevate your letter-writing rituals

They’re perfect for reconnecting with a pen pal, sending some love across the miles, or simply bringing a bit of intentional creativity into your everyday.

I am also wondering to maybe offer some of these as notepads as well. The padding is a manual padding and gluing process which is possible just not something I offer lightly. Let me know if you would like this.

Thanks again to those of you who supported these when they first launched, and to everyone who’s waited so patiently for their return. I can’t wait to see these sets out in the world again, carrying your words far and wide.

What is Bleed and Why Do I Need to Know?

Here is the first in a series of articles which is basically important info for Artists & Creatives please take a look at Freebies section for more information like this.

If you’ve ever sent artwork off to be printed, you may have heard the term “bleed” thrown around. It might sound a bit dramatic, but in printing, it’s a simple (and important) concept that ensures your final print looks clean and professional.

In this article, we’ll break down what bleed is, why it matters, and how to set it up properly. If you are setting up your own files for printing, whether that is Art Prints, Business cards, Flyers anything that is going to professionally printed. Please note that different printers will have different requirements for this so its best to contact the printer you will be using to look at what they require (they usually have the info under specifications on their website).

And don’t worry—we’ll keep it easy to understand, even if you’re new to printing!

What is Bleed in Printing?

Bleed refers to the extra area around the edges of your artwork that extends beyond the final cut size. This ensures that when the print is trimmed down, there are no unwanted white edges or misalignments.

Think of it like this: Imagine you’re painting a picture on a piece of paper, but you want the color to go right to the edge. If you stop right at the edge of the paper, there’s a chance that when you cut it, there might be tiny gaps where the paper still shows. But if you let your paint go a little past the edges, you ensure full coverage when you trim it down. That’s exactly what bleed does in printing!

Why is Bleed Important?

When printers cut down your artwork to the final size, there can be very slight variations in where the blade lands. If your design stops exactly at the trim line, even the tiniest shift could result in an unintended white border. Bleed helps avoid this problem by providing a safe margin. If you are cutting your paper yourself with a metal ruler and knife (recommended) or a guillotine there is also room for the paper to move, your hand to move and this just gives you a bit of grace 🙂

Without bleed:

A slight misalignment could leave thin white lines at the edges of your artwork.

The final product might not look as polished or professional.

Important details near the edge might get cut off unintentionally.

With bleed:

Your artwork extends beyond the final size, preventing unwanted white borders.

Small trimming inconsistencies won’t affect the final appearance.

The finished piece looks smooth and professional, just as you designed it.

How Much Bleed Do You Need?

The standard amount of bleed varies depending on the printer’s requirements, but a common measurement is 3mm (or 1/8 inch) on each side. That means if your final printed size is A4 (210mm x 297mm), your file should actually be 216mm x 303mm to include the bleed.

Always check with your printer to see what bleed they require, as different printing companies may have specific guidelines.

How to Set Up Bleed in Your Artwork

Most professional design software makes it easy to add bleed to your document. Here’s how to do it in a few popular programs:

Adobe Illustrator & InDesign: When creating a new document, look for the “Bleed” settings and enter 3mm . If your document is already created, you can find this option under File > Document Setup.

Photoshop: Since Photoshop doesn’t have a built-in bleed setting, you’ll need to manually create a document that is 6mm wider and taller than your intended size.

Canva: Some versions allow bleed settings, but if not, you can simply make your canvas slightly larger and extend your background or design beyond the trim edges.

If you are purchasing a template online (like my Art Print Template) make sure you choose one that has bleed and cutmarks included on it. Keeping in mind that many files in Canva or Etsy need to be setup for AUSTRALIAN paper sizes or you will run into problems when you go to print the file.

When you save out your file from any of these software programs, make sure you look for the check box that says include bleed so that your bleed is included in your file.

Safe Zones & Trim Lines

While bleed extends beyond the final size, you also need to be aware of safe zones. These are areas inside your artwork where important text or design elements should be kept, ensuring they don’t get cut off. A good rule of thumb is to keep important details at least 5mm away from the trim line. Many times I have clients provided their own artwork for fliers or business cards and their text is too close to the edges which means it gets cut off in the trimming process.

Important Points to Remember.

Bleed is the extra area beyond the final trim size of your design.

It prevents unwanted white borders and ensures a clean, professional look.

A standard bleed size is 3mm (or 1/8 inch) on all sides.

Always check your printer’s bleed requirements before sending files.

Use design software to set up bleed correctly and keep important details within safe zones.

Final Thoughts

Understanding bleed is a small but crucial part of creating artwork for print. Whether you’re designing business cards, posters, or art prints, setting up bleed properly ensures your work looks exactly as you envision—without any unexpected surprises at the edges.

Next time you’re preparing a file for print, take a moment to check your bleed settings. Your final printed piece will thank you!
