Since this is now my patterns blog I'll be posting any free and for sale patterns here. I will still be posting loom related things on my other blog since looming is my passion right now (mostly just WIPs and/or finished loom along projects from other people's patterns), however, I do much more than loom and would like to organize things a bit better. This will be the place where you will find my finished works ready to go onto your own looms. Plus, when I finally find some time, I do have some tutorials to demonstrate my own work and I will have loom along DVDs for sale as well. I do have several patterns in the design stage right now and even some patterns that are all set to go, I am just waiting on my test knitter and they will be posted soon too so check back often!

Before I go, my two year old got ahold of the lanyard package and tore it open and took it out but it is intact and unharmed. I stuffed it back into the package and all items pictured are still there! This item has never been used!

I've Been Experimenting

I posted on my other blog a picture of the embossed daisy cloth I knit on needles from a pattern in the latest issue of Creative Knitting. You can find the picture here. I loved the technique so much I just had to figure out how to convert it over to the loom. I have spent the past week or so trying out different designs and have come to the conclusion this type of technique only works with designs with little detail. I think this technique will be lovely in a cardigan, hat, blanket, cloth, rug, and more!

Trouble is, I can't decide which side I like better! What do you think?

Here is how it is done: Using a graph with very little detail the design is knit using a stockinette stitch on a reverse stockinette pattern. To do this, cast on however many stitches you need for your project so you start your first row to be purled from left to right. To prevent curling, alternate a few purl and knit rows, ending with a purl row. Begin following your graph from the lower left hand side. All areas around the image area will be purled going in both directions and all stitches within the image area are knit with the regular knit stitch or flat knit stitch (not e-wrap). You will follow your graph as follows: the first row begins on the lower left, the next row will be the next row up starting on the righthand side of your graph (this is atypical to standard chart reading), the third row starts on the lefthand side, etc., etc. To prevent curling on the sides of your project, you may also want to do a garter stitch around your image to prevent curling. That's it! Have fun!
