It's hard to believe just how quickly this year is racing by.

We are nearing the end of another fun Term, and are now taking enrolments for our term 2 program.

Term 2 runs for 8 weeks of 1 1/2 hour classes and costs only $150 dollars including all tuition and quality materials.

Enrolments must be completed by one week prior to term commencement so that student numbers can be confirmed. Classes are limited to between 6 and 12 students, so don't miss out.

Dates and times are:
Hervey Bay

10 to 13 year olds: Tuesday afternoons 4pm-5.30pm. May 3rd to June 21st inclusive
6 to 9 years olds: Wednesday afternoons 3.45pm – 5.15pm. May 4th to June 22nd inclusive *please note change of day

Maryborough

6 to 9 years olds: Saturday mornings 10.00am - 11.30am. May 7th to June 25th inclusive
10 to 13 years olds: Saturdays 12.30pm - 2.00pm. May 7th to June 25th inclusive

We have made a few changes to our site.

You can now click the TIMETABLE page and find out the days, times and dates for ALL of our scheduled term programs in Hervey Bay and Maryborough during 2011

Our improved BOOKINGS page allows you to download the Enrolment form and reserve a space right away in any of the available classes.

OUR CLASSES now includes all the information you used to find under the heading BENEFITS OF ART CLASSES as well as telling you about what's involved in Creative Leap Art Classes.

And very soon some terrific art work from our term 1 2011 students will be added to the gallery page. If you are a Facebook user, you can see some student images there too, so please don't forget to 'Like' our Facebook page.

This year's calendar

Very soon we will be releasing the full range of dates and times for 2011.

Our term programs will run for a uniform 8 weeks each and the Bookings page will be set up so that you can reserve a place in whichever term/s you like. Now you won't have to try to get a place at the last minute, instead just dowload the enrolment form, pay a deposit for each term you wish to book and simply pay the balance in the week prior to each term's commencement.

Whether you would like your child to join us for one term, the whole year, or something in between, we hope this will make it easier for parents to pre-plan children's very busy extra curricula activities.

TERM 1, commences

Our term 1 program is now underway and it is great to be welcoming back so many students from last year and the Summer program, as well as welcoming in new students for the first time.
In Hervey Bay our 9 to 13 year old group on Tuesday afternoons has proved to be very popular. This group is now FULL, contact us to add yourself to the wait list for future classes.

We still have room in the Thursday afternoon group. This is for younger students (6 to 8) but the make up of current enrolments make it very easy for us to also take 9 year olds into this group.
As some projects span more than one week please contact us to arrange a suitable commencement date and applicable payment amount.

Hervey Bay classes are held at QCWA Hall, 25 Bideford Street, Torquay

Our Maryborough offer has changed. We will now be running one group on Saturday mornings from 10.30am - 12.00pm. This group is specifically for 6 to 10 years olds and we do have room for a couple more students. Maryborough programs starts this Saturday 5th February, and as with the other groups runs for 10 weeks.

Maryborough classes are held at Gatakers Artspace, 311 Kent Street, Maryborough

All term 1 programs cost $180 for 10 x 1.5 hour classes including all tuition and materials. Visit the Bookings page for more information, or contact us.

We are now at the end of our Summer Week in Hervey Bay. Our Gallery page has been updated with some photos of the students and terrific work they have done in Maryborough and Hervey Bay. There will be some more pieces added after today's sessions end.

Summer Classes are underway!

Last week we ran a two day Summer program at Gatakers Artspace in Maryborough. Over the two days the students did painting and drawing using soft pastels on colourfix paper. They enjoyed learning about blending pastels, using brushes to make varying lines, how to paint wet-in-wet and use dry brush effects. We are really pleased that a number of students enjoyed it so much they have asked to come to our term program starting early February.

This week quite a few students have joined us for a full week of Summer Art Classes in Hervey Bay. We will post some new photos as the week progresses.

Happy New Year everyone!

Creative Leap Art Classes were in last Friday's Hervey Bay Observer. The article has information about our Summer Classes in Hervey Bay.

We are also doing 2 days of summer classes in Maryborough NEXT WEEK on the 5th and 6th of January. There are only a few spots left for the 6 to 9 year old group.

Places are filling up for the Summer Art Week in Hervey Bay (10th - 14th), with only a few places left in each age group.

There are still some places also in the following week's sculpture class for 9 to 13 year olds. This class is pretty unique and the only place your child is likely to find an experienced sculptor to teach them all the stages of making a figure sculpture, and if last terms students are anything to go by, the kids will love this program!

Change of dates for Maryborough January classes

This session will now run on Wednesday 5th January and Thursday 6th January. Times and location are still the same.

CREATE AN ACTION / FANTASY FIGURE, sculpture class for 9 to 13 year olds.

Artist and teacher Vito Manfredi is offering a very special program in January for 9 to 13 year olds in Hervey Bay.

CREATE AN ACTION / FANTASY FIGURE, sculpture class for 9 to 13 year olds.
Monday 17th to Friday 21st January. 10am – 12.30pm daily.

A full week of classes to create a creature/action figure in polymer clay. Polymer clay is the modelling material that is used by film props people and toy makers to create prototypes for casting. It is smooth and affords great detail.

Students will create the creature/action figure of their choice. They will be taught all the steps to creating an action/fantasy figure including coming up with a design, how to make an armature, how to shape the form, building up and adding details with professional modelling tools, and finally how to paint the figure (if they wish).

5 x 2.5 hour sessions $120 includes all materials. At QCWA Hall, 25 Bideford Street, Torquay

Vito is a qualified registered teacher with over twelve years experience as a specialist art teacher working in primary schools. He has also been a professional artist for many years, exhibiting in Berlin, New York and across Australia. Currently he has drawings and sculpture showing at the Art Gallery of Ballarat in the exhibition 'Net Work'
Below are a few examples of figures that Vito has made in recent years using Polymer Clay. It is a versatile material that will allow your child to unleash their imagination to create monsters, aliens, fairys, figures and whatever creatures they can dream up.

We are pleased to announce a Summer Program for January.

Classes will be offered in Maryborough on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th January, while Hervey Bay has two full weeks of Summer Program. Week one from Monday 10th January to Friday 14th offers a range of art activites for 6 - 9 year olds and 10 - 13 year olds. While week two, Monday 17th to Friday 21st, offers a very special full week of sculpture for 10 - 13 year olds.

During Summer (approx 10th - 21st Jan) we would like to run some classes or workshops before the regular term program is resumed in term 1. We would love to hear from parents about what they would like to see us offer in the program.

Term 4 is well and truly underway

We are so pleased with the response to the classes so far. Each of the Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning classes have good groups of around 6 - 7 students in each.
So far the lessons have been 2D using paint, collage, texta and pastel. Using volcanoes, tropical fish and birds of paradise as subject matter, the lessons have taught such things as thinking about negative & postive space, placement of an object on the page, material handling, some basic colour theory. All of these will continue to be built on and added to over the term.
We hope to update the gallery page soon with some of the terrific work that is being made.

Missed out on enrolling your child? Yes we can still accept students into the remainder of the term.

Classes have now begun

Creative Leap Art Classes began today with our older students at Hervey Bay.

Vito had a group of 6 enthusiastic students and started with a black and white exercise in positive and negative space and patterning, similar to the one on the right. Next week the class will begin painting.

Thursday and Saturday our classes for younger students will begin.

There is still time to enrol your child in either of these classes.

And if your older child (9 - 13) wishes they'd enrolled in our Tuesday class, we are still able to accomodate a few new students.

Sadly the Wednesday classes in Mayborough will not go ahead in term 4 due to lack of confirmed enrolments.

You still have a few more days to book your child into one of our other classes which start next week.

We invite all the parents of the enroled students to join us for a 'meet and greet' 15 minutes before the start of first weeks classes. Hope to meet you then.

More press. This time thank you goes to Kerrie Alexander at the Hervey Bay Observer for mentioning our classes in the Wednesday 22nd edition of their paper.

Hopefully this will expose us to more parents in Hervey Bay.

At the moment confirmed enrolments for our Thursday afternoon class in Hervey Bay for 5 - 8 year olds and our Wednesday afternoon class in Maryborough for 9 - 13 year olds are very slow.

We hope to make the minimum numbers before term 4 starts so that we can run these classes as well as our Tuesday and Saturday classes.

Our classes will be starting in 3 weeks time and Vito has been busily preparing for the beginning of the term 4 classes.

We have had lots of interest and a number of enrolments for excited children who we've been told would 'start today if they could'.

There are still plenty of places left in the 9-13yo Maryborough classes (Wed) and 5-8 yo Hervey Bay classes (Thurs) and some room left in the other classes too.
