Happiness With My Fluffy Friends

I think when you ask any close friend of mine to say something about me, I bet they’ll say “Oh she loves dogs”. My fluffy friends have been with me for almost 9 years now and I really love every minute I spend with them. Pure happiness is anytime I get to spent with my fluffy friends.

The sad part of having a dog is to know that they won’t always be there in your life, so every moment spent with them is special. That’s why I capture every simple, cute and special moment of my fur babies. I have three gorgeous Dachshunds in my furry family and a Chihuahua that I’m taking care for a friend.

Bubbles a.k.a. “The Pack Leader”

She is my eldest dog and was originally owned by my sister who migrated to Australia. Bubbles is a sweet puppy and really smart too. Though she’s not as active as my other dogs but her witty tricks will leave you wowed. She has the strongest personality among my furry family and that’s why she became the leader of the pack.

Cooper a.k.a. “Mr. Charmer”

Everyone is his friends as long as it’s not a cat. Cooper always gives his biggest smile and endless licking to anyone who wants to say hi to him. He’s the most active among my fluffy friends. A proud “mama’s boy” and “best kuya ever”.

Sugar a.k.a. “Happy Kid”

Sugar is just pure joy, the youngest among my doxies. She loves attention from her mommies and fluffy friends. Don’t be fooled with her sweet face because she is not the typical “girly” dog. Her hobby is chewing anything she sees and making a mess at anything (I still love her though, to the moon and back!).

Kurt a.k.a. “Mr. Pogi”

Kurt is owned by a good friend of mine who’s currently living at Canada. I took care of him since he was a little puppy so in my heart he’s part of my fluffy family. He is the youngest and that makes him the most playful. Kurt has a personal relationship with my three doxies and it’s funny how he balances his time with all three of them.

Happiness comes with four legs and a waggling tail. That is why every moment spent with them is worth capturing and remembering. All the birthday celebrations, walk at the park, driving around, Christmas and just cute lazy moods. For me, the best memories of my life are the once that I get to share with my fluffy friends. Their pure love for you is captured in every photo you take and the smiles are truly priceless.

Recently, I watched a video in YouTube about Origami pop-up cards and toys and it inspired me to research some DIY videos where I can learn the basics of Origami.

What is Origami?

Make Brushing More Fun with Minions!

Being the “single aunt” in the family can sometimes be challenging since you’re obliged to babysit the kids from time to time. Last March, my nephews from Australia stayed with us for 2 weeks and that made me the official babysitter when the parents are away. It was not easy because I don’t have a kid of my own yet (unless you count my dogs as my kids) and both of them are boys (so extra playful). I did all, from preparing food, bathing, playing with the boys and toothbrush.

What I noticed is that my nephews just like doing stuff together and loves cartoons. Making kids brush their teeth can sometimes be challenging especially when they are not in the mood. So our solution to make brushing time fun for the kids and the family is to do it together. Make it seem like a fun game you can all do and don’t forget to bring their favorite cartoon toy with them of course.

A week ago we met a charming Dachshund named Chelsea whom we will be fostering until my Brother pick her up to take home to Baguio City. Chelsea was a happy pup with a pure heart. She loves to jump around, chase balls, play with squeaky toys and sleep. I’m used to taking care of Dachshund dogs since I already have two of my own. What makes Chelsea extra special for me is that she’s my life partner’s first actual puppy to take care of. My partner was not used to being around dogs and just got accustomed to it because of me. Chelsea is her first puppy love and we even had conversations where we consider of keeping her for us. But Chelsea was destined for someone else and it breaks our heart to let her go.

Today is the last day we’ll be spending with the cute Dachshund puppy that stole our heart, so we decided to go on a picnic with her on a local park. Tomorrow she will be with her family and my prayers are that she fits in happily to them and may they have lots of patience and love for this little one.

This blog post is intended to be a precious memory for me where I get to share our Chelsea’s photos as she sits on my lap and slowly fall asleep. Happiness and big love comes in small package :)

DIY Chocolate and Tulips Bouquet for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is one of the most celebrated season here in my country and probably around the world. Time to get romantic for some lovers out there, as they plan the perfect gift. This year, as I celebrate the season of love with my partner it is important for me to put special thoughts in my gift. My goal is to make her a version of my DIY Chocolate and Tulips bouquet J

This is really simple yet thoughtful since you put more effort into it. So let’s start with the things that you’ll need for this fun and romantic project.

- Green Wire
- Hershey’s Kisses (almond and cookies and cream flavor)
- 1 mini Toblerone, 3 mini KitKat, Lollipops and 2 mini Cadbury bars.
- 3 tulips (I used red, pink and white in mine)
- Accent plants
- Red and pink crepe paper
- Pink Ribbon
- Scotch Tape
- Plastic Straws
- Plastic Wrapper

Now let’s start making this cute project for our sweetheart ;)
Step 1: Make paper roses using crepe paper.
Step 2: Put Hershey Kisses inside the paper roses and tie it with your green wire.

Step 3: Bundle the Kisses roses together with your 3 tulips to add a touch of flower in your bouquet and decorate it with some accent plants.

Step 4: Get creative and add more sweets!!! Lollipops, Cadbury bars, KitKat, Toblerone and a Valentine greeting for a more colorful effect.

Step 5: Arrange everything according to your preferred design and use scotch tape to hold it together.

Step 6: wrap it with crepe paper, plastic cover and tie with a bow.

Last is my pre-loved Blackberry Phone. This is actually my favorite item from the bunch because it’s the only phone that lasted almost 3 years with me. Also, the first phone I bought using my own salary. This lil gadget was a must have back then, specially for people who wants to be always on in their favorite social network sites.

DIY Dog Photoshoot

Recently, I started a new project with a good friend of mine and my two dogs. I think I'm in the part of my life that many people called "QUARTER LIFE CRISIS" where we really want to discover the type of lifestyle or career path that we want to pursue. In my part, I started this passion project of mine creating dog apparels. Having limited budget and resources, I was eager to find things where I can save some extra bucks. I wanted to have good photo materials for marketing purposes but I'm not willing to spend a big amount of cash for studio photos. So I just thought, why not make it a DIY project instead! Having no strong background in photography I try to research some tips in taking photos of your pets. After days and days of researching in our ever trusted GOOGLE, finally I'm ready to start my DIY Dog Photoshoot.

STEP 1 | COME UP WITH A THEME

It's always easier to start a project when you know how you want it to look like once your done. Giving your project a theme makes it easier for you to come up with your concept for the whole shoot. In my case, I chose to go for SUMMER Theme and showcasing it's festive vibe since that's how we celebrate it here in my country.

STEP 2 | CREATE YOUR DIY MINI STUDIO SET

Renting a studio can be really costly so might as well come up with an alternative. You can create a mini studio set for your dog in a very affordable price. All you need is an Illustration Board, White Cartolina, Double Sided Tape and Scissor.

a. Put together your white cartolina using the double sided tape to serve as your set back draft. Size depends on your preference since we have different type of dogs.

b. Use the Illustration Board as flooring for your set. (White part should be the one exposed)

c. Construct your mini studio set where there is a roof but slightly exposed to natural lighting. (In my case, I chose the garage.) You can put together your set there and make sure to shoot during 10am - 4pm for natural lighting.

d. Add some props to showcase your photoshoot's theme.

STEP 3 | FIND YOUR FOCUS

One of the best advice I got when you want to take a good photo of your pet is to know where to focus your lens. Focusing in your dog's eyes gives the photo a soul and an added appeal. Also, a good doggy smile won't hurt too. You can get that smiling face from your dog by taking them on a walk before the photoshoot.

STEP 4 | CHOOSING & EDITING

Choosing the best photo from the bunch is one of the key element of coming up with a good photo material. Once you're done choosing, it's time to do some photo editing. Having a DIY Dog Photoshoot may limit your final material due to lighting. Luckily, Photoshop is available to almost everyone who can use it. You don't need to be a professional graphic artist to edit your photo materials. Just adjust the Exposure of your photo, crop unnecessary elements and add your logo.

Here are some of the final photos I come up with my DIY Dog Photoshoot project for my Fur Babies Apparels Summer Collection.

The best part of my DIY Dog Photoshoot is that it only cost me Php 150.00 ($4) and one day to finish everything. I guess a good dog model is a plus factor ^_^

It was last weekend when I checked my email and found this contest from Nuffnang and Globe Telecom asking the blogging community this question: "If there is one thing you can give to the Philippines, what is that gift?". It is a great campaign to push this start of the year using the hashtag #GLOBEProjectWonderful2014 showing Globe's eagerness to give back to their community. I was excited to join and answer this one but nothing really realistic came into my mind.

While reflecting on this topic, I found a blog post showing pictures of Metro Manila during the 1950's. It made me realize how beautiful our country was without the crowded streets and filthy surroundings. As I read through the comments in that blog post, most of them blamed the government and corruption. I couldn't agree more to that but it made me think if they were solely responsible for it or there were other factors.

I decided to answer this question some other day since I need to drive for my mom. This topic was still in my head as I drove by EDSA early in the morning. The answer came to me as I saw the red light while other cars just drove pass by it. I chose to follow the stop sign even when no one was looking.

So If there is one thing I can give to the Philippines, what is that gift? My answer to that is "I will be a responsible citizen of this country". Driving alone will show you how some people can be so undisciplined and even bad role models for the kids. Crossing in the middle of a highway, over speeding, throwing their trash on the street, beating the red light are some of the few things you'll see in a busy street of our Metro. Most of the time we blame the government but do we ever ask ourselves if we have been good to our country?

It's the simple things that we do in our daily lives that can affect our future. I guess we get what we give and lately climate change & high criminal rates are few of the biggest evidence to that. As my mom says all the time "It was safer to go out at night when I was young compare to today" and I couldn't agree more. Because as time passed by Filipino people had forgotten to be responsible and disciplined citizens. Choosing what's right from wrong regardless if you gain from it or not. I'm not saying that we should all be a martyr, I just want to push our fellow country men to be a better version of themselves. But for now I plan to start it on myself and maybe inspire other people around me to do the same. Let's look back and promote the real values of our heritage that we forgotten.

Love makes life so much sweeter and it's a great companion when your hair turns grey. That's what I realized after having to sit with an old couple inside a public transportation yesterday. It was so refreshing to see this kind of scene for me because most of the time I think marriage has it's expiration date.

The adorable old couple was very out spoken about their life experience. They are going to the mall, same as I to have as put into their own words "quality time together". It is really so sweet to watch them goof around and even spoon feed each other with some pineapples. I said to myself "This is the best way to grow old, to be with someone you can never grew tired off."

So this inspired me to make an awesome blog post for 2014. Reminding everyone the fun side of growing old. The time when you realized that you're spending your life on earth with the person you can never live without. Looking at adorable photos of old couples happily in-love is a great way to brighten up our day.

Don't we just all love celebrating Christmas? Here in the Philippines, I personally think that it is celebrated in a more special way. As the world knows, our country have suffered from one of the strongest storm that ever hit land. But the Christmas spirit in my country is just too strong to be beaten down by a super storm.

We Filipinos celebrate this season of joy closely with our family. It may be a full house or just quiet dinner time for most small families. But one thing is for sure, dogs are also considered as a special part of the family. I can speak proudly that this is the case in my home last December 24 midnight where I live with my mom and 2 fur babies. Christmas is for the kids and in our case it's for my two doxies.

This video from Purina Alpo Philippines definitely captured the essence of Christmas in a quiet home with a fur baby. Dogs is equals love and anyone who disagrees with this is missing a lot from life. As said from one of my favorite quote “Until One has Love an Animal, Part of their Soul Remained Unawakened”.

Birthday Celebration | Glad to be Globe Story

I just celebrated my birthday yesterday, making me quarter of a hundred years old. Looking back in my younger years, made me realized that I was not as good with words as I am now. That’s where Globe fits in to my life, allowing me to say things that I needed to say.

It was my high school years when I can actually say that I was young, wild and free. Mostly I found my comfort zone when I’m with my friends hanging out. At home, I was a person with few words. We’re a family of five and making me the youngest. I can still remember how lonely birthdays can be in our household. The pathetic thing is that in my 25 years of existence I only got to blow 3 birthday cakes. (1^st and 7^th birthday included)

Every time there was a celebration then, everyone just pretends that it’s a normal day. Making it hard to figure out if it was forgotten or they’ll have a surprise for you. The best gifts for me were not the things or amount of money that I received. Rather it’s the simple greeting from my family letting me know that they remember my special day. It’s the simple “happy birthday anak” message from my mom that makes my heart skips a beat. Also with Globe I can express my simple gratitude by sending a thank you message back.

Now that we’re older birthday greeting are done face to face. But I’m just happy to look back in my younger years where our life was a little tougher; a simple text message helped us remember that the care within our family was still there.
